Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Vacation with friends

Here is my honest review: This is not a 4.5 star hotel. The rooms are outdated but this was not the problem. Lots of mosquitoes in the room and the room is dusty and was not clean! Avoid first floor. Sewers smell in some area of the hotel even in the main buffet. We booked a superior suite, it is better to book premium if you really want to stay in the hotel. I have been to a 3.5 star hotel in Bavaro and never saw a bug on the floor. The stairs to my room were always dirty with dead bugs. Not fu [... read more]n having to sit in the terrace where they had entertainment at night and be bitten by hundreds of mosquitoes. Management should do something. The bartenders, the reception (Catherine and Valentina) and the waiters (Elisabeth) were very kind. There was entertainment at the main pool next to the beach every day. The beach was ok. The Garden grill, Japanese and Mediterranean restaurants were good, I did not like the Brazilian restaurant, I was disappointed. All in all it was an ok vacation because we were a big group, I would not go back to this resort.

Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: More than expected

April 2024 for 10 days. We booked with Air Transat through tripcentral.ca (excellent service). 1h10 minutes from Punta Cana airport; sleepy driver, had to talk to him to wake him up. Upon arrival, we were immediately transferred to Bouganville. Great service, quick. We went to the buffet while waiting for our room to be ready (we were there at 1pm). We waited 50 minutes for our luggage once our room was ready. Room: spacious, clean, beds were very comfortable. Excellent service from all [... read more] maids. We couldn't have used the jacuzzi in the bathroom even if we wanted to as the drain plug was deficient. Notice that you may not discard the toilet paper in the toilet; you have to toss it in the bin. AC was a problem: you can't turn it off without turning the lights off. You have to pull out your card at the door to turn the power off. But we were reading and charging our phones during the night so AC was working all night long. We both ended up with a cold. Our room was close to the beach pool in building 53 but still very quiet. Buildings 52 and 53 are closer to the beach and beach pool. Buildings 50 and 51 are the closest but more expensive (view of the beach). Building 57 is closer to the quiet pool. Buffet: Jasmin restaurant (in the lobby) had all three meals, Las Dalias (at the quiet pool) had breakfast and Los Corrales (at the beach) had lunch. Food was excellent. They had themes on some nights (maybe every night?) like italian, mexican, mediterranean, etc. Most desserts were mediocre while ice cream was very good. Very good service. We tried the buffet at La Romana one morning (Bouganville clients have access to the whole resort) and it wasn't as fresh. Plus the employees weren't smiling much. Restaurants à la carte: we tried four of them, reserved through Bahia Principe app around 7 days in advance. 1. Don Pablo: most definitely the best of them all. Gourmet, gastronomic cuisine, very nice environment with quiet music. We went twice. The beef was not very tender but everthing else was excellent. 2. Rodizio: brazil-style restaurant at the beach (Los Corrales for lunch becomes Rodizio at night). Excellent service, especially from Omar who was singing and had a good sense of humor. Food was pretty good. We had a table by the beach, beautiful view. 3. Takara: asian cuisine. The environment was quite disappointing, nothing related to Asia. Banquettes were too low and too deep. Sushis were mediocre at best, everything else was easily forgettable. 4. El Pescador: mediterranean cuisine. This restaurant was on the other side next to La Romana lobby. They shared their entrance with Le Gourmet. Dimming lights would have improved the atmosphere; a little too bright. Food wasn't bad but the seafood casserole was the same broth as the fish soup. A béchamel would have been a better idea. We ended up eating the same meal twice as entrée and main dish. We might try Rodizio again, definitely Don Pablo, but we'd stick with the buffet the rest of the time. Bars. There are two bars in the lobby along with a coffe station. By the way, that coffee was very tasty: from dominican to italian cappuccino to mochaccino, all excellent beverages. A pool bar in each pool, one bar by the jacuzzis and another one on the beach. The pool bars had some issues with their mixers and couldn't make some of the drinks at time (like Coco Loco). Service was fast at all bars. Activities: Pools. There are two pools: one quiet and one more active where you will find the animation team. Plenty of room in both pools to swim or to relax and a pool bar. We spent more time with the animation, playing games, doing aquarobics or just watching the shows. Spa. We didn't go. They don't actually have a thermal circuit so it's mainly massages. Games. Two billiard tables in the lobby and one ping pong table at the beach. No charge. There is a new escape room: small but still fun. Night shows. We were pleasantly surprised with the evening activities in the lobby. Some good shows, silent disco, karaoke, game shows. We didn't expect much of anything. We did go to the theater at La Romana a couple nights, including the night of the dominican show. Well worth it. Animation team. They're really fun. Some of them can barely speak english but they're all charming, enthusiastic and funny. Big shutout to Mireisy (spelling?), Carlos, Smith, Mickey Mouse (aka Wellinton), Juan and the lovely Roxana ( y su hermana gemela Anaxor). Chairs: there are still some people who put their towels on sunbeds/chairs at 6am and go back to their room despite the rules but we would always find good chairs whether at the beach or either pool. Beach. Yup, the water is murky. We had no intention of swimming in it before buying some anti-jellyfish lotion. As it turned out, we spent quite some time in there. No jellyfish, no seaweed, cool salty water. Small waves, nothing like the ocean. It really looks like a lake. But the view, especially of sunsets, is beautiful. The beach itself is really nice; very inviting, lots of palm trees and sunshades, a volleyball court along with a space for petanque/bocce/horseshoes. By the way, no more access to the Beach Club (used to be that Bouganville clients could go to the Beach Club a little further on the beach and use their pools). Weather. It rained often. Would last 15 minutes and the sun would return. It was sunny and cloudy everyday, rainy at times 6-7 days out of ten. But it was so hot, we welcomed the clouds now and then. In conclusion, this is an outstanding resort. We paid a few hundreds more for the adult side (Bouganville) and it was worth every penny. Staff is very friendly, helpful, attentive, always smiling. Note that nobody harassed us to buy anything. Tours people walk on the beach with a sign, spa ladies asked us on the beach if we wanted a massage, and that's it. For a fraction of the price of some of the luxury resorts in DR, we have had an awesome time and intend to return soon. P.S.: We went to Saona with Dominican Attitude: best of times!

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Our 2nd stay here.

We went last yr in Apr and this Apr again, stayed in block 53 this time and it was exactly the same as the other block we stayed in last year. Room was clean and to our liking. we did have an issue with the door latch that got fixed. the grounds are very nice pools look amazing but we enjoy the beach time so we spent most of our out door time there. the restaurant were all great and the food was top notch at all the restaurants. you get to book all your meals 10 days before you get there on an a [... read more]pp which was a great thing. The shows were great we didn't care for 2 out of the 7 shows we saw. I cant stay enough about the staff all were great regardless of what their job was.

Bahia Principe Escape Runaway Bay: Resort is fantastic

Overall the complex is great , rooms are spacious and clean , pools and restaurants are plentiful. this was our second time at this resort and i will definitely be going back next year , however the one negative i had this time was it was difficult to book times at the a la cart restaurants which i found odd at this time of year ( mid April ) Entertainment crew was great ,especailly Kendar AKA Thunder who ran the aquafit every day ... awesome !!! Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Very good vocation experience

Very convenient location, lots of delicious food and drinks, no lines on main and beach restorans. Beautiful resort, nice beach, lots of green space everywhere!!! Definitely come again!!! Thank you very much ???

Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: BAHIA LUXURY

Since our last trip, 5 years ago, we found that there were areas that needed more love. We had mold spots on our ceiling and around the shower. Something we would not have seen before. Arrived to very noisy AC and fan that was not functionning properly. Fan was replaced immediately and attempt to fix the AC was also handled. We also have worries with staff entering our room for 2nd time in a day to make bed or not at all (only once). Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine: Nice resort but looking worn and needs upgrade

Very large resort. Long walks to the beach, perhaps to long if you are not in good shape due to the heat. Service was good around the pool and the lobby. Buffet - food - good variety and quality, Service - Attentive. Only able to book two other resturants - Japanese and The Garden - both good food and service. Rooms - key issues, patio door would not lock, sheets worn but servicable. TV very bad reception. Maid service good

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Good Value

We had a swim out highly recommend it. The rooms were very clean had no issues. The concierge/Butler went above and beyond as well as the beach, staff pool staff, and the restaurant staff they were always working so hard to make sure you were well looked after. The only negative thing that I would have to say is about towels on the chair around the pool and beach. We’re always taken no matter what time you’ve seem to get up. Bahia Principe Explore Legend: Amazing time!

We had a fantastic trip. There was so much to do for the kids from the kids club, to the water parks, mini putting, arcade etc. the shows at night were amazing, and the food/drinks were great. There was always something to do. The staff are so friendly, very hard workers. The facilities are all clean and well taken care of. No complaints!

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Nice resort but too much mosquitoes!

The rooms are old. We are a group of 12 people. We had to change 3 rooms at the first night, we couldn’t sleep because of the mosquitoes everywhere even in the bed! The grand floor is the worst . We moved to the 3 floor and it was acceptable No one told us about the renovated rooms near to the beach that we can upgrade until we went there and they asked for 30 US$ extra per night! Otherwise the food was good and the service was good too.

Bahia Principe Escape Runaway Bay: Vacation

I stayed at the Bahia Principe Luxury hotel in Montego Bay Jamaica. The hotel was super clean the people super nice treated me like I was one of there family members. Awsome food. There was an incident at my stay at this hotel that affected 2 buildings. No air conditioning. I know it wasn’t the staff’s fault but it could have been dealt differently. But out of the the week I stayed there great food entertainment great people to talk had a great time.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Will not go again.

Rooms ammenties were totally subpar. Beds rock hard, TVs totally unwatchable and AC controll did not work. Alacarte restaurants food was subar or awful. But the hotel servant staff was very accommodating and kind.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Awesome resort

Like everything about this resort, had good experience here two years in a row, would definitely recommend to others. Only complain is the streakhouse, food was good but wait times were notably slower than the others. Very nice having access to the 3 other resorts

Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: Nice staff / resort needs work

The staff were very friendly and polite. The rooms need upgrading, and a cockroach visited our bathroom on the final evening. Best a la carte restaurants were the El Prescador and the Takara. Not impressed overall.

Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine: Very big resort

Beautiful grounds great pool awesome beach great food. Rooms Need more maintenance ie: broken plugs, toilets, hot water hats to regulate, etc., but very clean. Front desk staff need to be more fluent in English as there is definitely a language barrier as a result confusion reigns

Bahia Principe Explore Legend: Great week at Fantasia

Just returned from a week at Bahi Principe Fantasia. Overall it was a great experience. There is always something good to eat from the large variety o food. My room was beautiful quiet and clean. The staff were very kind and helpful.I asked for a mattress topper and received one promptly. My only suggestions would be providing some quiet areas to sit with family and talk without having to shout. The music at thenpool and the theatre were too loud. Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Resort appears to be ‘tired’.

Lovely grounds and staff very friendly. This is the fourth time we stayed here and we notice that standards have lowered. Less staff? Rooms very comfortable and serviced well. Grounds crew kept everything neat and trim. However, Buffet dining showed less attention. Food not replenished in timely manner. Without fail, main courses, meats and vegetables were often down to last few servings and dried out. We still had a wonderful time and enjoyed the pools, grounds, and weather. Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Bahía Príncipe Coba

We had a great trip. Great food, great rooms, great service. My only con would be whenever we needed the trams they were no where to be seen or going the wrong way. I knew the resort was big but was happy the trams were there. The other Bahias I’ve been to the trams seemed to be continuous. We had a great vacay and I would recommend just beware it is a very big resort. Also the beach was very rocky. I would wear water shoes. Pools were great and a few to choose from.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Beach was terrible

The hotel itself was beautiful. Staff were friendly. Rooms are outdated but still nice. Food was incredible. Be prepared for lots of walking. The resort is massive. If you are a beach person, this is not the resort for you. So rocky and not big at all. Good luck finding a chair also. The tram system is fine but not reliable.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: You gotta go here!

What a beautiful resort! Room always clean and so stylish! Everyday the buffet was outstanding...food variety and taste was amazing. Entertainment every night. Bar service ,top rate! Stafff?.... hats off to you all for always going the extra mile.....
