Bahia Principe Explore Turquesa: Couldn’t wait to get home.

The hotel is very beautiful. Having said that, there were a number of significant issues that put a major damper on our trip. We had 8 people travelling with three room. Two of us got sick with breathing issues, one had to be hospitalized for over half the trip. We believe this was either due to the very strong chemical smell from the pool and cleaning, or the musty smell from the room (we found mold in one of the rooms). I also got electrocuted from an exposed wire in my room. The mus [... read more]ic was way too loud anywhere near the main pools or dining area, and was pretty much constant. It was overwhelming and difficult to have conversations. There were other things that were beyond the control of the hotel so I won’t outline them here, but I was not impressed.

Royalton Bavaro Resort and Spa: amazing resort

no complaints, beautifully maintained resort. entertainment continued even with the rainy weather. Resort certainly doesnt want to dissapoint their guests. Diamond club is well worth it. Nicest resort Ive ever been to so far.

Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana: Amazing resort

Excellent resort, clean, hygienic, washroom were clean, respectful staff, pools were clean and water temperature was comfortable, beach was clean, fresh breeze, greenery around the resort, excellent activities every night, enjoyed the water park

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Friendly staff, beautiful grounds

I liked this hotel, the staff were friendly activities were decent. Cons would be that there really can be a huge language barrier since some staff either barely speaks English or don’t understand it at all. Despite that they were all great spirits and mostly smiled. Some will try to help before you ask for help. Booked the basic room and they upgraded us which was amazing. I had a really bad runny stomach and diarrhea on day 2 which lasted most of the evening onto the next day, but was good by  [... read more]night of day 3. Riu Republica: Couldn’t be better!!

Travel agent Brenda was amazing, all communications were on time and clear, flights were on time, Riu Republic was a great resort. Cleanliness, room service, staff, parties, entertainment, food and most importantly beaches, everything was top notch and we had a time of our lives. Will definitely go there again. We were there in late October and early November 2025.

El Beso Adults Only at Ocean El Faro: I wanted to like it....

I really did want to like this resort - and to a degree, I did. Grounds were beautiful, staff were amazing (a special shout out to Melbin at the Italian a la carte and Juan Carlos of the El Beso pool bar - you guys were beyond amazing!!!). Food was okay - the a la cartes definitely made it worthwhile. Drinks were plentiful and they do not skimp on the alcohol. This resort is BIG. Yes, it's 911 rooms, but we didn't realize just how big it was. A few times, people from the family side did sneak over to the adults only side, but they were usually caught pretty quick. We paid to upgrade to Privilege upon our arrival and didn't really find it worth it. Maybe we just didn't take full advantage of everything, and that's on us. Our mini bar in our room was supposed to be stocked daily - it was only stocked once. By the end of our 7 day trip, we had 1 bottle of water left. Crowd seemed to be a bit more on the younger side then we are used to at resorts (I'd say late 20's to early 30's). Biggest complaint was the music at the adults only pool - it was LOUD. There's only so much bass thumping, house party music one can take in a week. We lucked out with our room literally being steps from the pool - but when we are in our room, with the sliding glass door closed and my husband had his sleeping ear plugs in and you can still hear the music...that's loud. People in the pool would ask a few times for it to be turned down so you didn't have to yell at the person 2 feet away from you to hear them and yes, the staff would turn it down a bit....but then a new staff member would come along and crank it back up again. Even if the pool was empty. It seemed like they were playing the music more for them then the guests. The resort seemed to be experiencing a lot of shortages - no berries whatsoever at the adult's only side snack bar, we asked for BBQ chicken at the one lounge to be told they were out, same with the pulled pork burgers at the privilege lounge. Food at the buffet was plentiful, but just okay. Beware of the time share pitch!!! When we checked in, a very nice gentlemen in a white shirt (learn to beware the white shirts!) took our number for communication via WhatsApp and asked us to join him for a 'special breakfast' the next morning where we could obtain our "welcome gift". We ended up bailing on the breakfast (we heard from other guest that the "welcome gift" is breakfast at the main buffet....). The white shirt guy ended up messaging us to re-schedule and called our room...4 times. Multiple times a day. I'm talking 2-3 times in the morning, and it would ring upwards of 7-8 times. Overall, it is a nice resort - just not really our style. Would we go back? Not likely - and not because it wasn't a nice resort - just not our style really.

Grand Bavaro Princess: Wasn’t very happy with the Resort

No bed sheets, broken tv, fire Alarm going off all hours within the unit which was reported and nothing done. Food poisoning, lack of English, bar tenders over serving guests to the point of getting sick . Rude wait staff at the platinum beach bar and restaurant

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Very good resort

The hotel in general was ok. The grounds were really good, the room was also in good shape but the walls were in need of a paint job, the staff were really professionals and very helpful, the entertainment during the day by the main pool was great as for the food buffet last January it was a lot better than this time (November 2025) as for A La Carte restaurants they were very good.

Melia Punta Cana Beach Wellness Resort Adults: Great resort.

Very nice resort. Nice staff. Very good good at the Level Restaurant. Alexandra, is a great help with anything you need. Jean Leon, the cart driver is very nice. Would return to the resort, and we will be going back in April.

Punta Cana Princess: Great for quiet couple getaway

Was our third time to this resort. Great staff, quality food, chill atmosphere. Loved that we had access to the other resorts in the group. Make sure to take the walk on the paths between resorts to see all the ducks, geese and iguanas hanging out. Great spot.

Grand Palladium Select Bavaro: Grand palladium Punta Cana

I have been going to Punta Cana for eight years and I have received excellent service at the grand Palladium. The service was outstanding as always. I like to give a shout out to William , Jose Luis at the palace, pool bar, and the rest of the staff! At the palace lounge bar a hug thank you to Jose Alberto Alexander Vidal and the supervisor Alcid , outstanding service! I was well looked after any issues I had were looked after right away. Nothing is perfect, but to me a holiday is what you make it and the staff is what keeps me coming back? Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine: Great time

Resort was well kept. Rooms where large and very clean. Fridge was stocked everyday and cleaned. Rooms where quiet and comfy. Restaurants including buffet where excellent. Food had lots of flavor and never left a meal hungry. Portofino the Italian restaurant was great with a nice atmosphere great service and quality food. Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Fantastic Hotel

We loved the hotel. The room and grounds were immaculate. Both the pool and beach exceeded our expectations. As well the service and food at all the ala cartes was outstanding. We preferred the buffet at the beach to the main buffet. The only downside to our experience was the bar service at the pool. In one week we were never approached or asked if we would like anything. While we do not mind getting our own drinks and we are good tippers this was very disappointing.

Occidental Punta Cana: Average

Grounds Beautiful Rooms Clean and above average Buffet Average and service not so great Ala Cartes Some good one bad-Asian Pools Well kept - Main pool bar tooooo busy on weekend. Couldn't get to bar. Four deep of people and nobody letting you through.Should always have a lane open for orders. Beach Above average for the Dominican. Very nice

Majestic Elegance Punta Cana: Amazing Resort

We had no complaints about this resort. The grounds and beach were beautiful, staff was amazing, drinks were delicious and the food was as good as you could expect for AI. There was a good amount of nightlife/entertainment too. I would highly recommend any of the Majestic resorts.

Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: Solo Vaycay! ☀️

Wanted to start this off by saying this is my third time returning to this resort, first time solo! The grounds, room and the beach were beautiful the new renovations at the renovations at the Esmerelda were beautiful! Always felt safe as a female solo traveler. Food would rate an overall 5/10 - was no variety even at the al la cartes, half the dishes were missing items that were supposed to be included per the menu unfortunately so if that matters to you, this isn’t the resort for you. But ever [... read more]ything was definitely edible! Although we were getting the after effects of Hurricane Melissa, everything was still perfect! Some staff were friendly but most just left me alone since I was solo. Overall would say it was a good experience.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Great hotel, just missing smiles.

This is my second trip to Bahia Principe. Last winter we stayed at the Esmeralda luxury and this October we stayed at the Ambar adults only. Service was great. Food was great. The grounds were beautiful and clean. The only hiccough I have to say about this Hotel was the staff half of them or even more than half or not very friendly or smiling. The few that were very smiling. I took the time to tell them in Spanish that they were doing a great job and smiling and being happy it goes a long way. [... read more] I’m sorry I can’t remember the names of the few that were smiling, but I do think they need to work on that point. The beach was nice.

Royalton Bavaro Resort and Spa: We are coming back!

There are 3 pools, all perfectly maintained, lots of comfortable lounge chairs, lots of clean towels. Beach was clean, lots of chairs. Also, there was no smoking at the beach nor at the pools, this was very much appreciated! Service in the restaurants was good. The bar closest to the entrance to the lobby had the best service, morning till evening. Sometimes service in the Buffett was slow. Japanese was great, the cook put on an excellent show, food was excellent, great décor. Our room was cleaned very well daily. On arrival, one of the drawers fell out and the other 3 were very difficult to open. I told the concierge who came to our room and took pictures, said she would report that repairs were needed. We were there for 7 days, the drawers never got fixed, disappointed. The Royalton Bavaro was excellent value. The location was good.

Grand Palladium Palace: Pick another resort until Fully Renovated !

Currently here for 7 nights. Booked through trip central/Air canada vacations. Flight portion of the trip was smooth. Definitely spend your money elsewhere for a resort. We came 10 years ago but this place is now showing its age. AC struggles to keep room temp below 23.8 C. Outlets falling out of walls- it definitely needs a facelift. If you have any gymnastics abilities you will do great navigating the step up into the deep tub/ shower combo. If your traveling with someone other than your significant other and book a loft suite the glass in between the main bed and shower is frosted- think 80’s silhouette…def not suitable. 90% of the restaurants are closed- something not noted on the booking website or I would have chosen another resort. Bavaro section is closed due to renovations so you have 1 main restaurant for breakfast/Lunch/Dinner with another buffet restaurant opened for lunch. Only place that is air conditioned is Hemmingway Bar- burger truck parked beside it. Made 5 trips to the front desk to get the ac looked at- its standard was the response after 3 technicians came to look at it ..asked to switch rooms and it seemed like that was a big inconvenience. Sorry Pladium…. Your 5 star has lost its rating at the moment. On the plus side- wait staff is amazing, pool bar staff always have whatever you require- pool is clean- lots of loungers at this time period….Rock show in lobby on Thursday nite is very good- other than that minimal activities. Pushy travel club salespeople in the lobby, around the pool trying to get you to a timeshare presentation. I think if you are very good at saying no you will have no problem. But every time they see you at the lobby they have to try. Highlight of the trip is the coffee bar..frap’s, fruit jars, donuts, hot or iced coffee- def one of the best things here. After numerous trips to the front desk the Concierge/Guest Services/Victor and the whole team gave us another room with much better cooling capabilities. Even this room is showing its age with the jetted tub rings all fallen off and placed at the side of the tub, Caulking around tub should be replaced. I thnk that they should use their Cleaning team to note the rooms that need repair and small issues that could be easily fixed instead of just cleaning. They are really the first point of contact with the rooms and documentation could go a long way with fixing Guest issues. The Bavaro side is planning to open In December and the rooms do look amazing although they will be at a premium. If you are looking for pools, food, drink and don't mind the overall conditions of the room then come down. The staff at the restaurants and La UVa are more than phenomenal. My issues stem from the conditions of the rooms only but we really didn't spend much time in them. I understand the contraints and pressures the guest services team are under as they know the rooms are tired and I have no doubt they will try and accomodate and make it right. Grounds are immaculate as expected and they do their best to combat the seaweed influx. Although the customer service team is amazing I do think we will try another resort on our next visit to the island. Until the whole resort does a refresh find another place to book. I am not one to usually write reviews but extremely disappointed in this resort.
