Playabachata Hotel: Playabachta Resort Puerto Plata

this resort was excellent value for the money. the grounds were beautiful with a flat walkout to the beach. easy access to everything for those with disabilities. 3 buffets to choose from and 2 a la cartes. there was a variety of good food to choose from. 2 nice large pools with bars close by. all the employees and staff were very accommodating and pleasant. the entertainment team were excellent and kept us busy even during the few rainy days. the rooms were slightly dated but very very clean. a [... read more]ll and all it was great vacation and I would highly recommend it.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Great Family Friendly Resort

My family and I had a great time at this resort. It met most of our expectations for the price we paid. Positives: Smaller resort, family friendly, friendly staff, great grounds and surrounding area Negatives: Buffet food options can be repetitive, music goes into the night but didn't bother us, beach was quite wavy

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Not ideal

Group of 10, rooms scattered throughout this large property. Check in was unfortunately a long drawn out process, “come back in 10-15 mins” and after an hour or so of this we were getting tired and just wanted to shower from long day of travel. Showered and tub would not drain, called front desk and once again experienced “call back in 10 mins” after playing this game a second time, we’d had enough and packed up all our belongings and headed for one of our single occupancy room, to which we paid [... read more] inflated rate to have, forcing that friend into our other single occupancy room. Front desk would never return our call about bath tub until 3 days later. We went to our air Transat rep to which he was gonna try and upgrade our room for the inconvenience, only thing was guest services would not comply. The rep then said he would give us a discounted excursion, to which we would have taken him up on except I would fall illl and 3 others from our group with travellers diarrhea from the lack of cleanliness around resort and especially buffet.there was a lot vomiting observed at this resort. I was thoroughly disappointed in this trip as I booked as a 4 star for it to be downgraded a week before departure. I was not fond of DR, and will not return. Air Transat flight was great and would suggest dropping congress from itinerary

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Well managed and amazing resort

VH Gran Ventana Resort is well maintained and the public areas are always clean. The room I stayed in was well stocked with water, drinks, towels and kept clean every day by the maid. The food at the three restaurants and the buffet is fantastic. They serve you like you are royalty. The staff at the resort always great. They welcome you with a smile and greeting and some even recognized me from previous times I visited the resort. The resort has different daytime and evening entertainment. Getting a chair on the beach or at pool was impossible. Very frustrating…. Attention to detail in rooms was a challenge… empty shampoo bottles, I had to stir coffee in room with my toothbrush…. Bbbbbb b bbbbb bbbbbb bbb

Playabachata Hotel: Won't be back

The service was awful. The first night the toilet was plugged and we called down several times and no one came. No beach chairs unless you get down to the ocean VERY early. Both my husband and I got sick there.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Good stay

Great trip overall. Friendly helpful staff. Wish we could have swam in the ocean which was impossible due to high waves and lots of moss. As well, wish there was better variety with the food. Would return back though !

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Nice to be home again

A bit of rain this trip but so nice to see all our friends who work at the resort. Grounds are kept impeccable . The grounds keepers are constantly making improvements. The entertainment crew go above and beyond to make our stay memorable. Thanks Skinny, Pollo, Monkey Black, Dora and Sky. In the buffet Nunez, Wanda and Juan Pablo made sure we were well looked after. Playabachata Hotel: Average resort

Grounds were beautiful, beach was nice. Most of the staff were very friendly. A la cartes were not great and the buffet food was good but it was the same thing every day. They could use a hostess as we often went to dinner and searched endlessly for a clean table. Rooms are dated but clean. No beer in the minibar

Playabachata Hotel: Value for money

We stayed at the Playa Bachata for 9 days this time. Although this hotel is a little older, it is clean and well maintained. I love how easy it is to get around, the restaurant, bar, pool and beach are all close together. WIFI only available in lobby and pool/bar area, but not in rooms. The rooms are basic, but clean and come with a safe. All buildings are only 2 stories tall and there are nice big balconies on all the rooms. No alcohol in the rooms only water coke and 7-up (next time I will pic [... read more]k up something from duty free to have in the room). Loungers on the beach were a bit of an issue, people get up early and claim them, and we ended up having to do the same so we weren’t sitting on the sand. Beach is clean and lots of shade. We spent most of our time there rather than at the pool where they had all the games and fun. There is no swim up bar if you are a person who likes that. This resort connects to 2 others, you can use some of the amenities at all three. I loved Caribbean street where you can get gelato, good coffee and pizza if you need a snack in the afternoon. The buffet is available for all meals. Lots of options, and we were very happy with the food. Our plates were full every day with salads, pork, chicken, rice beans, plantain, avocado- I personally would not recommend the wine. There was also pasta, pizza and fries available. The shows at night were very popular, but we’d seen them before. A couple of nights they had a guy playing guitar in the courtyard, and he was great. This is also where the disco is at night. I love that the disco is not enclosed, I just wish they would update their playlist a bit. They tend to play the same music all the time. The DJ isn’t the best, but he took requests. Highly recommend the Saturday night beach party. The main bar is open 24 hours. Alcohol is not top shelf or even middle shelf, but the mojitos and beer were flowing. A great time for a week away!

Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: My Home away from Home

Ive been returning to Casa for many years now and will still return. The staff are great and the rooms are nothing fancy but adequate for my needs. The food is good but alittle lacking in variety but being right in sosua allows you to try many of the excellent restaurants nearby. The pools on the reef are my favourite place to hang out. Overall for the money is a great. I give Casa Marina a thumbs up.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Nice resort

Staff is very friendly room are ok. Washroom need renovation. Beach was great. Food was really good. The mall behind the resort was great to shop in. This will be my third time at this resort. I would go back again

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: truly amazing resort

Outstanding resort from staff to cleanning personnel, grounds kept imaculate, rooms well kept, meals outstanding and great variety to choose from, friendly atmosphere, night activity well done and presented, easy to make new friends, I would consider returning again!

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Group of 10

Grounds were good, bathrooms were some times good, a couple of back ups in the public washrooms while we were there (a week). Sewage smell was quite prominent at times. Food was ok, Asian restaurant was great! Couple of our servers in the buffet were amazing, rest of the staff were kinda blah. Pools seemed clean, drinks were good. Beach was ok, very wavy (not calm at all). Our group still had a good time however we will book elsewhere next year.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Still great

We stayed for 10 days at Gran Ventana still a great place. Everyone works very hard, our room was dated but ok, no dressers for putting clothes in, food was very good so much to choose from. Wish they could make mud slide drinks but we had many options, santa at the swim up bar made great drinks. Looking forward to returning soon

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Paradise!

Such an amazing resort! Super clean always! Amazing staff! Super friendly! Buffet and al le cartes were always very good. Lots of variety! You can sit at the pool and see the ocean. We never had a problem with service either! Very attentive for the whole two weeks!

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: So so resort

Kind of disappointed ?, the room initially is old and not very comfortable. First, We are couple but we have to cramp ourselves into a double bed and don't know why they give us a room with two beds Second the AC is leaking to our luggages and toilet. We complain initially they only come to remove water on the roof and no room replace until 3 times on the row of complain, they start to act. So far I am not impressed much and will never return.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: We will stay there again.

The beach is amazing...no rocks and very little weeds. However, it is very windy. The dining room staff is efficient and organized, and the dining room is very clean. Food is excellent. The resort staff is friendly, and they seem to love their job. The resort and beach is very well maintained. The rooms are small and could use a second mirror. The air conditioner is efficient, but it leaks, and there's always water on the floor.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: You can tell between 3.5 to 4.0 star

They should have more covered spaces in order to avoid the rainy weather, room’s air conditions renovation ( noisy ) . Restaurants are clean however food quality must be ameliorated. Very generous and very nice staff…I take this opportunity to recommend the reception supervisor ( Miguel ) for his customer service professional skills…He made our stay enjoyable…

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Winter getaway

My husband & I spent two weeks at the Grand Ventana. We spent all of our time at the beach. The staff are very nice and helpful. I walked every morning for 1 1/2 hours on the beach both ways with another lady that I met at the resort. It’s very safe to do this and the DR has a military person posted outside the Playa Dorada area to ensure your safety. The ocean is really nice to swim in too. I pretty much left everything in my suitcase except for shoes and toiletries. Lidia was our maid and she was wonderful. Such a hard working, pleasant woman that made sure we were comfortable. The food in the main dining area was very good. We had something different to eat everyday. I never grew tired of the food. We had the Premium package which allowed us to book restaurant dining 3 times a week. We did this 3 times and weren’t disappointed. Also, there’s a premium lounge upstairs away from the crowds which is very nice. It tended to fill up just before dinner reservation times. Lastly, my husband had a bad fall the first evening of our vacation. The medical office looked right after him and he had X-rays at the hospital in Puerto Plata. This all went smoothly and unfortunately he had to use a wheel chair and crutches the entire trip. So he relaxed on a lounge chair everyday by the beach. The staff at the beach, Jose and Aqualino were a tremendous help with him. The pool area is very nice and quite busy with kids and family etc. I never spent any time there. They also have entertainment at night in the central area near the pool. All I can say is, if you have mobility issues be very careful approaching the lobby area. There are steps and ledges you need to watch for. I saw a few people trip and wipe out. This is a nice resort for families. If you’re looking for quiet time, the beach is the place to be.
