The only three things that bothered me and my group of 5 friends were:
1) The beach at this particular resort is pretty bad, very narrow and full of rocks. There are signs that they're trying to get rid of it though. However, if you walk a bit east, the beach become MUCH better very fast.
2) The table service at the evening buffet is by no means fast and appears disorganized. On numerous occasions we ordered drinks and they either never came or the order was different or incomplete. No problem[... read more]s with the breakfast buffet though -- actually it's pretty fast.
3) The club house (where the pool table is) should get new equipment asap. The pool table was unplayable (missing balls, missing triangle, crooked, etc.).
Other than that, everything was top notch. The resort was clean, bar service was good and fast, no problems with the rooms, the food was good (including the a la carte restos), the pool(s) is the best I've seen in Cuba. Overall, pretty good value for money.

Average at best but weather saved the trip!
My family and I did a 1 week stay from Dec 19 to 26. To sum it up:
- Weather was perfect - 27/28 each day, no rain
- Pool was very nice. Lots of room and chairs were never a problem to get. WARNING: Take a large cup or mug with you if you plan to have a drink by the pool. Otherwise, you will be drinking from small, flimsy plastic cups (2 gulps).....
- Staff - excellent. Very nice, accommodating, always willing to help and took the time to chat with you.
- Resort in general. Having stayed at 4.5 [... read more]star resorts on other islands, I think I was expecting more. I'd say the resort is in decent shape though you can see where some upkeep is needed. The MOSQUITOES were horrible, especially from about 5 pm and well into the evening. Take bug spray!
- Rooms: The resort has 10 buildings. These are spread out throughout the resort. The week we were there it was apparently sold out and we ended up in building 10 - the furthest from the main building and buffet. For the average person, this would have been a 5 minute hike. Ushering 2 children (2 and 6 years of age) back and forth from the building was a challenge. Further, we were on the 3rd floor - all steps - no elevators. Secondly, we had a number of issues with our room. No water for 1.5 days (there was flooding between a few of the buildings so evidently there was a problem somewhere - septic or main), the front sliding glass door did not lock, the one phone did not work, and we regularly had to ask for towels. In other words, our room sufficed our needs for the week but that was it.
- Food: We were warned to not have high expectations for the food. Aside from the Xmas dinner buffet and maybe a couple of other meals, I'd say the food was average at best. My sons lived on hot dogs, french fries, ice cream and pizza for the week but my wife and I were able to find something that worked.
- Beach - skip it and head to Pilar Beach - 15 minute cab ride - It is excellent! Take your towels and lots of water and snacks!
- Lobby bar - good.
- Front desk staff - very nice and tried to do what they could to make your stay comfortable.
- Shows - decent. My sons loved the Michael Jackson show!
- Kids club - good as well
In summary - I give it 3 stars thanks to the weather, Pilar Beach and the staff.

Great Resort
The people, the service and the food was absolutely great. Wonderful choice. I totally enjoyed it. The distance from the resort to the airport was about 20 mins. Less travel time to and from your destination.

A place to share with people you love!
The community of staff at the resort were very friendly and made us feel welcome and cared for while we stayed at Memories Flamenco Resort. The entertainment with creative, funny, moving and well rehearsed and performed. The tour in to the city of Moron was well organized and an educated experience. I highly recommend the vacation to this resort!

The rooms where nice but that's all I have to say positive . The beach was so full of rocks and coral I had to walk half an hour to another resorts beach to swim . the pool was always dirty and full of leaves and dirt and never seen anyone cleanig it once . the food at the buffet seemed to sit there all day from breakfast on to dinner . Upon all that I always seemed to been bugged by staff for buying things like cell phones sunglasses and anything else with any vale

My wife and I travelled to this resort from December 26 to January 2 and can confidently say this was the best Caribbean travel experience we have had. From the staff to the facilities to the food and the drinks, everything met or exceeded our expectations. As a regular Trip Advisor, I will provide an in depth review of the resort. You may agree or not – I really just want to provide as much information as possible to make your experience at Memories Flamenco as amazing as ours.
We flew Sunwin[... read more]g and paid for the Elite Plus upgrade. Being able to check in first in Toronto, the ample extra leg room and our bags coming out first in Cuba was worth the $160. We didn’t board first coming back from Cuba, which was a bit annoying, but the upgrade was worth it, if just for the seating alone.
Upon arrival in Cuba, you receive your bracelet from the resort staff once you are through security. I’m glad we got out of the airport basically first because, within a few minutes, the line is long to receive a bracelet and you really just want to get to the hotel. It was about 30 minutes before we were on the bus and headed out. The resort is only 20 minutes away which is absolutely perfect. Don’t forget to pick up a couple of beers, only $5 Canadian for two. You don’t need pesos, change your money at the hotel. Just don’t use Canadian change, it’s very hard to them to change it.
We got to the resort about 11 am and our room wasn’t ready which was expected. No big deal. We had packed our bathing suits and sandals in our carry on so we changed in a friend’s room and hit the pool. I checked at around 3 pm and the room was ready and our bags were delivered promptly. Excellent service and a positive start to the vacation.
From there it was eight days of heaven. We aren’t really beach people so we spent our time at the pools. We tried the shallow pool with the pool bar a couple of times and that wasn’t our speed so we spent the rest of the week at the top, deeper pool. The service was excellent and our servers were a lot of fun. The animation team also wandered around and never hesitated to pull up a chair to chat. If you like music, dancing and partying – try the shallow pool. For relaxation, try the deep pool.
The food was actually quite good and the New Year’s feast was amazing. We only ate at the buffet but there was enough selection to keep us full. The snack bar did run out of different things a few times but hey, you’re on vacation, relax. The Cuban people work endless hours to provide you with the ultimate vacation experience. I enjoyed the hot dogs and burgers – I didn’t try the pizza.
A food highlight was the grill at the pool. Line up around noon for the opening at 12:30 pm and enjoy the pork, chicken, fish, sausages, salsa and salad. Really worth the wait.
Having travelled a few times I have to say the entertainment at Memories Flamenco was the best entertainment ever. We usually grabbed a table at the side of the stage after supper where we met new friends, enjoyed some drinks and then watched the show. They were all first rate with Michael Jackson as the best. Do not miss the entertainment, you will regret it.
After the show, if you like to party and stay up late, the lobby bar is where the action is. The drinks flow freely and you’ll have a chance to meet tons of new people and hang out with the staff as well. To put it simply, it’s just a really great time.
We only went on one excursion as we don’t like to be off resort for more than about four hours. We selected the speedboat and snorkeling and loved it. You leave the resort at 10:15 or 12:15, drive to the boats and after a quick safety lesson it’s time to go. The boat is fun to drive and the snorkeling is amazing. You travel through a lagoon, not in the ocean, and there are so many fish. It’s tricky swimming up river as the current is very strong but there is a rope you can use to pull yourself along. Coming back you can just float and enjoy the fish. The lagoon is only about 10 feet deep. Don’t forget bread and bananas for the fish.
We were definitely sad to leave. This is a resort I would definitely return to. The final perfect touch was management saying goodbye to each person as they boarded the bus and then waving as the bus pulled away. These people really care.
Just a couple of comments where there is room for improvement:
Create a separate coffee bar. The lobby bar made excellent Spanish coffee but it takes a while and slows down drink service. A station that serves only coffee, would speed things up.
Keep an eye on food supplies at the snack bar and maybe open the pizza station earlier if food is running low. Many days the only thing available were hot dogs on hamburger buns. I do realize it’s Cuba but perhaps there is a solution.
Post the menu for the evening outside the ala carte restaurants. This will give people an opportunity to decide if they want to eat there.

Not terrible but below expextations
The staff were wonderful. Pool area is nice, beach rocky. Room basic but ok, but no hot water in shower and toilet was not working properly. Food quality and variety were lacking. Drinks were sub-par.

Disappointed
I paid full price for this resort for me and my three year old including Diamond Club. The first night we had dirty sheets. The sliding door didn't lock and the mini bar was not stocked. I was looking for water ...
The 24 hour concierge service did not exist.
The food was very greasy and we had undercooked meat served to us three times - chicken and pork.
The entertainment for children was inappropriate sometimes with sexual innuendos.
These are just a few examples.
Although the Manager did try [... read more]to make up for the issues it was always superseded by another issue.
We had wonderful weather and met a nice family so luckily still enjoyed our time on holiday. However I would never return to Memories Flamenco and was happy to get on the bus to leave.

Good resort with some concerns
Stayed from the 18th to the 25th of December 2014.
Was pretty much as expected, pool, food, booze and people all great. Beach was OK while the water was perfect.
The rooms and public areas are not cleaned properly, housekeepers just move the dirt around although flowers were always fresh. Many safety concerns from railings to stairs to shower heads barely attached. Glad we did not have young kids.

Most courteous staff
Memories has definitely invested in their staff in teaching client services and some English by all, including gardeners and maid. Smiles are everywhere with an "OLA!" from the heart. Food was good, even the beef. One exception, the Italian Restaurant - not recommended. Beautiful and safe beach stroll for hours. Great getaway to put your feet up and relax. Leave your smart phone at home.

Good resort
Hey their just came back on the 24th of december it was okay but not the best service is very slow and the food was the same 5 days every single day we had the same breakfast lunch and dinner. As we all know Cubans are very nice and pleasant people but caya coca isn't a place for someone that likes to be social cause their nothing really to do socially with cubans. The beach was awesome though even though its very rocky because the resort isn't completely renovated I guess yet but you would see [... read more]lots of star fishes and shells which was awesome. But the rooms were pretty dirty and as I said the service is very slow but its Cuba. Its my third time in Cuba I found veradero the best to be in cause pretty much all hotels are the same way in Cuba but varadero has a better beach and better food. I would recommend the resort for someone that just likes to be left alone only but not for social people.

4th visit and still amazing
Thr resort is gorgeous, clean, easy to get around and filled with lovely tropical plants. The food is plentiful, varied, hot and tasty. We ate every meal except one at the buffet because we found between it and the snack bar our appetites were satisfied. The rooms are large and clean. The a.c. is quiet and works great. Lots of hot water and good pressure. Any problem with anything?? Just call and it'll be solved quickly. The staff can't do enough for you. We have stayed at Memories 4 times now a[... read more]nd we're not done. They welcome us "home" with open arms and go above board every time we have visited. You can't go wrong with Memories.

Lovely resort!
We stayed here from 20-27th November. This was our 17th time in Cuba, 1st time in Memories. The staff and management at Memories are amazing, from the servers to bartenders and lovely ladies who clean the rooms, everyone deserves a big “Thank youâ€. You are all lovely, polite and professional; if more people in this world were like the Cubans there would be less trouble.
The food is excellent; you won’t go hungry at this resort. The main buffet restaurant carried an enormous variety of foo[... read more]d at all meal times. All “a la cart†restaurants are very good. We really enjoyed the fish in Asian restaurant; sushi appetizer was as good as in some specialty restaurants in Toronto.
The 24 hrs snack bar was excellent as well. The beach grill which serves lunches only was also good, Mikel does wonderful job there, always greets you with big smile.
Please don’t consider the bad comments about food from negative people, we experienced this all and nothing is true about the bad food, our advice to negative people is - pay big $$$ and take a cruise to have world class food and restaurant and don’t complain!
The beach is OK, not the greatest in Cuba. We stayed in Diamond Club in a separate area, which we had fast service, Yosmel is super server, very professional and nice men. He did take a good care of us, and we want to say Thanks Yosmel, keep doing great job.
The hotel, rooms and gardens are very well maintained.
Thanks everyone in Memories for lovely vacation, we had a good time.

Value for money
first cuba trip;
Airport: This is a small airport, so going through security and picking up our baggage was fast and very easy.
Room: Extremely clean. Our maid was wonderful, with thoughtful and creative towel art. If we were lacking anything, our maid made sure that we received it. We had an ocean view in building 1. It was very quiet and very convenient.
Gym: The gym, spa and tennis courts are located closest to building 10, which is in an inconvenient spot, it should be more centrally loca[... read more]ted to the main buildings.
Pool: This is the first resort we have been to where getting a chair was never a problem. We would sit beside the pool with the pool bar each day. At night, the staff would stack all chairs and as you came down to the pool in the morning, two staff members would happily pull out the chairs and set them up where you wanted to sit for the day. We found the pools very clean. Our only criticism is that there should be an adult only pool, as there were many, many young children at this resort. We found the pool clean. The gardens were well kept with beautiful flowers.
Coffee bar: EXCELLENT. The service and atmosphere is lovely. The coffee in the main buffet in the mornings was not that great, but the coffee in the coffee bar and speciality coffees were excellent. The waiters/waitresses quickly took your orders.
Staff: EXCELLENT. So happy, so friendly. Management was extremely visible, and engaging, wanting to know how the resort experience could be improved upon. The management staff even came onto the bus the last morning upon departure to bid us farewell.
Tipping: Service did not seem to differ with tipping or without. Unfortunately, the staff cannot use Canadian coins, so tipping $5 is rather steep. You can exchange your Canadian $$ in the main lobby for pesos.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort
Amazing resort. Exceptionally clean. Great staff. Pools are great. They have a lot of activities around it.
Beach is only a 3 star. Lots of sharp coral. You need to wind your way around it to get in water in some places. Diamond Club beach is a bit better.
Overall I would go back in a minute.

Incredible people
The hotel is clean, the food is good and the personnel is just amazing. The plumbing systems in the rooms may need to be taking care of though but I believe this is a common challenge in Cuba. The beach is natural just like I preferred.
