Ocean Coral and Turquesa: Fantastic staff!

With my boyfriend we stayed at this hotel for a full week. The only thing that was unclear to us was the transport from the airport to the hotel and we almost booked our own, the hotel provides one but from the many emails we were sent not even one mentioned that. When we arrived at the hotel, amazing staff members took great care of us while we waited to be checked in. The only downside is the fact that we landed at 11, so we had to wait for 3h in extreme humidity and heat to be able to get to  [... read more]our room and shower – but that’s understandable, most places have check in at 3pm. We decided to upgrade ourselves to 1st level of privilege (additional 500USD for the entire stay with access to a bar and restaurants that were opened from 7am, unlike the normal bar that opened at 10am till 1am). We got a beautiful, clean and spacious room, quite far from the main pool that tends to be loud, but the downside of the location was that we were almost alone in the whole building so all the nature (15cm long grasshoppers and racoon families) had their peace disturbed only by us. I am personally afraid of all insects, but the only impossible to bear for me were the gigantic grasshoppers that would fly in your direction which scared the living hell out of me. We asked to have rooms changed and that was not a problem to the staff that understood the issue well (special shout out to Sam who was an amazing help). The new room we got had a great view of the main pool and even though it was a slight downgrade, we appreciated having neighbours. The food in the privileged restaurant was completely not for me (as a vegetarian), overly complicated and completely forced combinations only made my stay for the first two days miserable. But then we discovered the Caribbean buffet, both breakfasts and dinners were incredible. Amazing variety and ease to pick whatever one desires. All the other restaurants were great too, my boyfriend especially loved the Italian restaurant and the incredible steak he got there. Food wise only downside is that all restaurants open at 6pm and close at 10pm, after that only one awful diner is opened till 6:30am. For non-privileged guests’ breakfast was available from 9am I believe, those guests also had to queue for the busier restaurants. For many the lack of snacks in rooms (unless purchased in the extremely overpriced giftshop) and lack of the possibility to get any food to your room can be seen as very annoying (I was sick one night and I was unable to receive anything other than room service). Speaking of room service, it is available only from 11am till 11pm, after that you must pay astounding amounts for subpar food. When it came to the open bar, we were positively surprised that there were not that many crazy drunk people, which is a bonus. We booked an all-day trip with AirCanada’s rep, the trip itself was not too expensive considering what was included in the package (Mayan Ruins and Rio Secreto caves – 150% recommend, amazing experience). The biggest issue and sth that angered us was the fact, that we were told to get water shoes for the trip which was an expense of 60 USD in the gift shop. It turns out the shoes were available for free by the caves. That expense made the trip less affordable and made us feel like we were taken advantage of. As a young working couple, we did not think that was fair. The trip itself was 300USD for 2 people and that additional 60 was a big rise. What I would like to add is that the staff deserves a special thanks, I have never met nicer and friendlier people, they remember you and issues you may have had. Same for waiters and bar staff, entertaining us with stories and really trying to make our stay as nice as possible, which is something they did not have to do. Overall I think I would recommend the hotel regardless as we had a splendid time and even though the weather was supposed to be bad (rain, storms, clouds), we had beautiful sun all the time, but the humidity was a killer so being outside of the pool was difficult.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: We liked it BUT...

We did like the territory, it's taken care of ans maintenance people were constantly working on it. The food was good! BUT! The rooms are extremely moldy. I'm talking not about humidity, it's different. They are moldy and smelly. You have a feeling you are in a cave. And you inhale that... So we brought it up to the management and they moved us to Luxury Bahia Principle Akumal. It was very nice of them to upgrade us. But same issue at another room. Less moldy and smelly, but still th [... read more]e same problem : all rooms need a good repair! The service was not bad. Sometimes we were ignored at the restaurant... Just staying in the middle with a 2year old and all tables been dirty. Sometimes we were served fast and in a nice manner! In general it was not bad, but definitely not 5* hotel and definitely not Luxury :)

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Fantastic resort

The resort was amazing It was so clean, the food and the staff were amazing. One of the best resorts we have been to in year, I would highly recommend this resort. Check was quick and easy, the restaurants were great. Had a massage done at the spa, it was just perfect, thru really treated us great

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Fantastic resort

The hotel was lovely. Poolside entertainment outstanding. Great choice of food, especially liked the option of no extra charge room service. Only downside was the beach was disappointing but great pools

Royalton CHIC Cancun: BIRTHDAY Vacation

Spent my 50th at thia resort ..it was great! Food was excellent and the service was amazing. I has a sunrise view and It was so amazing...the workers are obsessed with keeping the resort clean..I had a marvelous time.ans would definitely be back!

Occidental Tucancun: Excellent hotel with a relaxing atmosphere

Great hotel with options to be away from the crowd. Lots of little quiet spots for real relaxation. Food is ok, staff generally very nice and friendly. Situitated 60 steps from a mall, great for a stroll when you need a break from the sun. The beach is really nice, it's pretty empty in mid September. Great for body surfing on waves up to 3 feet. Only down side is weeds, lots of it.

Grand Riviera Princess: home away from home

this hotel has it all. good foods, buffet and a-la carts and the snack shacks. drinks are never to far away. every evening shows at the plaza and theatre. shuttle to and back from hotel good organized. rooms are spacious and housekeeping is amazing. beaches are great but in the ocean you need water shoes because of rocky ocean floor. this was our 3th visit in a row to this hotel and we will come back again.

Excellence Playa Mujeres: Great resort for food and rest!

Great place for good food and to rest quietly… Could improve on animation (shows and animation by the pool). Rooms, pools and surroundings are spotless and very well maintained by staff who take a lot of pride in their work.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Not recommended

This is our 3rd time in Mexico. We've been to Puerto Vallarta, Cancun and now here. While we love Playa Del Carmen, we would never stay at this hotel again. This is definitely not a 4 star hotel and we are easy going not high - maintenance people. To begin, as soon as you check in, the time share reps swarm you like bees. In the end, we agreed to go to a stupid meeting only because we got $200 in resort credits which we used to buy the Coco Bongo excursion. (can only be purchased through you [... read more]r flight rep ie:Air Canada rep at the hotel, not the club reps by the pool) The food: Buffets were good. Steak house was good. Mexican restaurant was terrible. Shout out to Augustine in the breakfast restaurant by the pool. The only server that seemed to have genuine conversations with the guests. The room: Had cockroaches in ours. Absolutely disgusting! The entertainment: Tuesday evenings they have vendors on site selling their "handmade goods". You can find it cheaper at their Walmart! The evening shows we're ok. It's so hot where they do the shows that it was usually unbearable to sit and watch. Nightlife : We're in our 30's and nightlife is non-existent here. So boring after the shows are done. They have a "beach party" from 11pm til 1am but it's super boring and you can barely hear the music. The pool: Our cousin sliced his foot open in the pool. The staff didn't care. The beach: What beach? It's dirty brown and closed off,not to mention it stinks like an outhouse. Ten minute walk to the left takes you to a lagoon. 10 minutes to the right takes you to the beach in front of other hotels. Other points to mention: It costs $375 pesos to take a taxi into Playa del Carmen or $25 USD. Coming back you can pay about $20 USD. The resort offers a bus to take you into town and back at set times for $5per person. It conveniently drops you off in the back of a jewelry store that you have to walk through. We love Mexico but would never recommend this hotel or come back here.

Hard Rock Hotel Vallarta: Good service

Very nice place. Not to big and the service was outstanding. We liked the day beds. Food was pretty good too. Beach was clean. The rooms were a little small but we were on the eighth floor and had a good view.

Secrets Mirabel Cancun Resort and Spa: Relaxing little gem.

It was a really great experience. But let's start with some of the negative qualities. Some of the hotel is still under renovation. We are a bit of night hawks, we typically slept in till noon, but there was constructions and banging around that time that woke us up a few days in a row. When we were arrived after 9 hours of travel, we were starving. But the staff wanted to show us a quick presentation (1.5hour) about going to see a different hotel that would take around 3 hours to do. We read re [... read more]views about it and decided to not go (best decision). They took about an hour to get our luggage to the room after we got to our room. At this point we had been traveling for 12 hours without any food. And just wanted to eat but had to wait for clothing to change in as the hotel does have a dress code during food services. Aside from that and hawkers wanting us to buy something. We had an amazing time. The hotel is 3.5/5 for cleanliness as it's still bring renovated. Food was 5/5. The staff I would give 10/5 as they were always amazing to us and we're very helpful. They were so friendly and kind. The pools were really nice and relaxing. The adult pool was our favourite area. The hotel is located just steps away from a bus stop, making travel quite easy. Lots of great amenities and things to do. We really enjoyed our time here.

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Great week at ORParadise

We had stayed at this resort 2 years ago in the el beso section and enjoyed it so much that we returned but upgraded to the Privilege section. Loved the Privilege restaurant a la carte offerings for breakfast and lunch. Amazing staff and service. Our butler was so helpful and went above and beyond even running a bubble bath in the jacuzzi. So amazing to come home to after a day in the sun. Love all the food options and Mike's cafe in the afternoons for a latte.

Grand Sunset Princess: Amazing Resort and Wonderful Staff

This resort was everything we could imagine it to be. We loved every aspect! The rooms were always clean and restocked daily, the restaurants were delicious and had a nice selection to choose from (even vegetarian dishes) We stayed at Platinum Sunset and enjoyed having the platinum pool area to ourselves most of the week! The buffet sections were themed and yummy! The Spa Princess (massage and water circuit) was relaxing and so needed! We were very happy with how organized and easy it was to travel with Sunwing and Trip Central!

Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun: I have seen paradise and it's at Secrets Maroma

This luxurious resort exceeded all of our expectations from the delicious good, to the beautiful pool to the majestic beach. There were so many comfortable places to enjoy your surroundings and the staggering were so attentive, courteous and friendly. I hope to return someday.

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Amazing week on Sandos Caracol

Just came back from this beautiful hotel dont have any negatives to say ..we were a family of 6 and all of us missed to be there already....room was so perfect we bought the standard room but when we get there we got upgrate for free..lots animals, the nite shows wonderful..food was ok..people always there to help u in case u need it..so many activities to do for free dont need do go out of the hotel to have a blast..

The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Great hotel

We had a wonderful stay at The Fives, staff was super friendly, food was great and they even provided a crib for our 14 month old. We left already thinking of coming back, since we had such a great stay. The only downside is that is low season and some of the restaurants were closed for renovations.

Ocean Maya Royale: Awesome resort!

The resort was pretty neat and looked really high end with amazing landscapes, buildings , and waterfalls. There were plenty 5 +1 restaurants to choose from daily and the food was amazing. The pools were kept clean and clear and so were the beaches with nice comfortable seating.

Marival Emotions Resort and Suites Riviera Nayarit: Nice resort

Beautiful grounds - nice pools and surroundings Friendly employees - very nice ala carte restaurants with good food and service Special thanks to bartenders Eduardo Flores and David Bajaras in pizza bar and Dalia in Lobby bar. Buffet was not to up 5* resort - needs more selection and see food. Not entertainment in adults pool area. Decameron Los Cocos Guayabitos Ramada: Great resort

The rooms are very clean resort is very close to the beach the staff are super friendly and the food was amazing They also have great enertainment at night i would definetly book a stay there again the only thing i didnt leke was the hour and a half ride to the hotel

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Questionable Place

This hotel was questionable, there were wanting to sell you time shares as soon as your arrive. The front desk staff were horrible, we arrived 10:30 am tried at 1 pm were told our room wouldn't be ready until 3 pm. Came back at 3 pm only to be told our room wouldn't be ready until 4 pm. The front desk didn't care to accommodate at all considering we were the first group checking into the hotel that day. When it came to the grounds staff they were amazing.The rooms are very damp that your clothe [... read more]s in the rooms get moldy. There is an infestation of there raccoons to the point that they were jumping up on tables stealing patrons food. When we had booked our trip it would have been nice to have been informed that you were not able to swim in the waters due to the fact that they are land filling to extend the beach further into the ocean. Due to the fact we couldn't swim in the beaches we stayed in the pool, where my fiance his foot on broken tiles at the bottom of the pool. Trying to get band aids is just like to trying to get bottles of water VERY hard to get. The food was good at all the restaurants. If you are looking for a quiet hotel that has nothing to do in the night this is the place for you.
