Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Third time at Si'an Kaan

This was our third visit to the Luxury Bahia Principe Sian Kaan and we were a little disappointed. The level of attention to detail we had grown accustomed to in prior visits, was not quite the same. Pools were great, food was awesome, grounds were meticulous but the service at this 5 star wasn't always top notch. We were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary and they did nothing to help us celebrate-in fact, my husband paid the waiter to decorate our dinner table with rose petals. No one eve [... read more]n acknowledged our milestone and it was printed on our travel docs and we mentioned it verbally upon arrival. One morning we took the trolley to the Sian Kaan beach and the driver dropped us off at the Akumal lobby and told us to walk the rest of the way. The next day the same driver hit a speed bump so hard the lady in the first section lost her bag off the cart and hit her head! The crash was so loud we thought the second cart had come unhitched! Thankfully he stopped and everyone was ok and the lady got off herself to retrieve her bag. We only got to 3 different a la cart restaurants as one was closed due to unforeseen circumstances and we couldn't make the time given for the reservation they offered in it's place, and we lost another because the reservation desk booked 2 for the same date and we didn't notice until dinner time! We are not ones to make a fuss and we never complained at the time but I was looking forward to sharing my feedback with the Front Desk Manager as we checked out (especially since we were the only ones at the desk at the time and wouldn't be over heard by other guests or hold up the line for service)- but the manager never even asked if we enjoyed our stay!! Like I said, it is a great resort and has lots to offer and if we hadn't of had such great service prior to this we probably wouldn't have known the difference but it was disappointing to be celebrating such a milestone in our marriage and it not even be acknowledged! We had been contemplating joining the premier club until this visit, we've put that decision on hold for now. Perhaps a visit back to the Luxury Bahia Principe Ambar will restore our faith- we've always had great experiences there.

Iberostar Waves Tucan: Good Time

This was the second time at this resort as we had a wonderful experience the first time. Let me say the staff was the best. Everyone we were in contact with were very helpful and friendly. However this trip was not as good as the first.. The food this time was not up to par. Perhaps they changed head chefs, who knows. The food did not seem to be the quality for a 4 star resort. As for the grounds , everything was clean and well maintained. All in all yes we would recommend this resort to others. Its proximity to Playa Del Carmen is a plus as well.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Beautiful Resort

This resort had a lot of green spaces which is what our preference is. The buildings were surrounded by trees and trails for nice leisurely walks. Shuttles were also provided for those not able to do a lot of walking. There were plenty of activities to do on site if you choose to not leave the resort. Kids Club- Kids club was available for what seems like all day! There was a mini disco for the kids to attend followed by different activities such as movie night, Hawaiian night, piñata party etc. Our kids were never bored. Nancy gave our whole family a small token at the end of our trip. She is a fantastic and essential part of their team! Adult Activities and Entertainment - There was always something going on at the pool or at the beach as far as activities were concerned. They had short games to keep things interesting as well as daily aqua aerobics, salsa lessons, evening pub and shows in the theatre. There was an area for table games such as fooseball, air hockey, pool table etc. Dining-Dining was great. There were 7 a la carte restaurants. 5 of which were their own separate restaurants. The other 2 were more of a casual patio dining experience. The upper patio overlooked the lower patio and theatre. The food was good but service was a little slow in the Oriental Dining. We waited over half an hour for our entrée and ended up leaving because our kids wanted to attend the mini disco. We ended up going to the buffet after. The Oriental Dining was also the smallest of all the restaurants so there was a lot of people waiting for a table as it is a first come first serve arrangement. Breakfast buffets were available in the main building area as well as at the beach restaurant. Both were very big buffets. The beach restaurant had a stunning view and it was in an open area. Staff was exceptional at all the restaurants. Rooms-Our rooms were cleaned daily even when we said that it wasn't necessary. They provided us with fresh clean towels and stocked the bar fridge daily. Rodrigo would make towel animals for our kids everyday and the kids looked forward to seeing them. Scuba - The instructors were very attentive and great with our young child who was just old enough to participate in the Discovery program.

Grand Sunset Princess: Very nice resort

The hotel was as described. Check-in was quick and easy. Food was good in both the buffets and a la carte with a good selection and daily variations. Pools were nice though difficult to find a lounger. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Great Food!

The resort itself was nice, clean, modern. The food was the best I've ever had at a resort, however, the diamond club upgrade was definitely not worth the money. While I enjoyed the resort, I wouldn't go back. It is quite isolated. There were a ton of families and children. It is definitely geared more for families and teens.

Riu Tequila: Great Vacation Spot

All staff and entertainment was just amazing. Hotel holds it old world charm of Mexico. Would've been nice if it was on the ocean as well, but it was just a short walk away. Hats off to the Entertainment staff from the early morning, well into the evenings who were always out to make sure everyone was enjoying themselves.

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Barcello Maya Beach Resort

We found the Hotel far too big and the staff was not very friendly at all. The maid that cleaned the room either forgot to leave coffee or water to make it. We would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Ocean Coral Riviera Cancun: Beautiful Resort

The resort is located in a great location with only a 20 minute bus ride. The resort was larger than I originally thought, but it goes horizontal with the ocean which was very nice, we spend 85% of our time laying on the beach enjoying the view of the beautiful turquoise ocean. The grounds surrounding the hotel are magnificent, the staff very efficient at maintaining everything. Plenty to do for whatever you're looking for. My only disappointment with our room was, I requested and paid for Ocean View but only received partial Ocean View. That was a bit disappointing. There's Plenty of variety for dining and the food was quite tasty. There was daily different entertainment and activities throughout the resort. The only negative thing I would have to say in regards to this resort was the lack of information on activities going on throughout the resort. We missed out on many of the activities because we were unaware of them. We stumbled across some while out for a walk. We would have enjoyed participating in more.. I would recommend the front desk give you a pamphlet with their activities or leave something in your room. The staff was great, the bartenders were fantastic, I would definitely recommend this resort to a friend.

Royalton Hideaway Riviera Cancun: Top notch resort

We liked being at Hideaway at the Royalton resort. The resort is huge and a family resort beyond Hideaway area. Diamond club also gave us reservations to all restaurants and glad not to wait in lineups. The resort is very clean, food was very good, entertainment was good for families, the bands after 9 p.m. is what we enjoyed every night . The beach was nice to take a stroll, however lots of sea weed that cannot be controlled due to climate change

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Nice resort, awesome food!

The food and the service was the two best things about this resort! Buffet and all the a la carte's were excellent and everyone that waited on us was happy and very polite. The beach is typical mexico, just ok. It is isolated from the other resorts so you can't walk for miles in either direction because there's nothing on either side of the resort so that's different. My main negative issue is that we paid to upgrade to Diamond club and I was expecting a better view than just the mangroves a [... read more]s well as the service road being directly next to our rooms so we were woken up very early in the morning from the noises of the carts driving by. In my opinion the Diamond club is not worth the upgrade, the other rooms are just as nice and the butlers are hit and miss, some don't do anything for you at all. It is a very nice resort though and we loved the way it was laid out with the inside lobby area and stores etc, very modern and easy to find everything.

Bel Air Collection Xpu-Ha Riviera Maya: Big Bag of Nopes

the photos are a lie! a bold faced lie. place needs to rehome the last of remaining animals. no beach by the way, you need to take a shuttle to get to one that the hotel owns a part of. all the animal exhibits are gone. food is just fair. the photos are not of the actual hotel. i feel ripped off. what a terrible way to spend my only vacation of the year. the only up side is the freindly staff that check you in.... that and the raccoons that you can hand feed from your dinner table

Grand Sunset Princess: Lovely Large Resort

My family and I truly enjoyed our vacation this March! The resort is very large and the grounds and beach are beautiful. The staff are friendly, food was good, nightly entertainment was very much enjoyed! We would definitely go back!

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Great resort

Pros: we had a room in a building close to buffet, beach and pool. Pool was clean and drinks were great. Lots of activities for teens. Staff around pool, buffet and entertainment were super nice and friendly. Buffet food was excellent Cons: air conditioning did not work in room, a la cartes were ok but not accommodating for large groups. Check in process was slow, unorganized and staff were rude

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Great resort

Had a wonderful time, friendly staff, resort was clean, spa was amazing, I would return! Beach was great, lots of chairs to lay by pool- in or out of water. Activities all day long to keep you entertained. If you wanted quiet time you could go to quiet pool

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Great family resort

Really enjoyed the entire resort, rooms, pools, shopping and activities. The food was not the best. At the buffets, the meat was well done at best. Restaurants were much better, I would upgrade to include a la carte for the entire week if we were to return. Tip: while the buffets over cooked the meat, restaurants under cooked it, medium was closer to rare-medium.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Exceeded expectations!

Resort was absolutely fabulous! Food, facilities, staff, entertainment, grounds....everything was wonderful! The most important bit of information that I can pass on is that this resort actually has a complete adults only area at the far end of the resort. As we walked along the beach on our first day we came to signs saying adults only and from then on the beach section, beach bar, infinity pool, pool bar and restaurant within this area is kids free. I do not think this was well explained in an [... read more]y of the online information or reviews I read and was such a welcome find as we had been tossing up between Akumal and Sian Kaan for this reason, but chose Akumal to be on the beach.

The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Good resort!

Azul Fives is a good resort. Our room was good, and the food was good. We had smoothies a few times of day. There were evenings when certain restaurants would move their tables outside which was a fun change. We especially liked the sushi restaurant. We saw monkeys almost every day, as well as a couple other animals that we don't have at home. We would definitely return.

Catalonia Royal Tulum: Fantastic Resort

Our fifth time staying at this resort (two week stays each time). Grounds well laid out, food, facilities and lodging nestled into a mostly treed property, that opens to the large pool area and then the beach as you make your way to the ocean along the central cobblestone path from your room. Some areas of the resort are a bit dated, but well maintained despite this fact (gym, some features of the rooms, and some of the furnishings in common areas). Staff very friendly and competent. It shows in their attitudes, and management does a good job of keeping them motivated and engaged. Beach and patio loungers are newer, comfortable and well cared for each day. Housekeeping is diligent and consistent. Beach is beautiful, plenty of shade and sun to suit your preference. Drink service very efficient. Lots of nice touches throughout the resort make it intimate and genuine for couples seeking a quiet, romantic holiday. Not a resort for those seeking great night life. Evening entertainment at the hotel is energetic and fun. Food is good to very good, depending where you dine. Capacity exists such that waiting in lines rarely to never happens. This is a beach resort--the beach is unparalleled, whether you want to lounge, walk or swim.

The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Great family resort!

Azul Fives provided everything we needed for our vacation. The facility was great, the food was good with lots of variety, and the staff were very helpful. We had been on cruises before that had lots of activities especially in the evening which we missed that there was more of.

Grand Velas Riviera Maya: The beach is disappointing...

Grand Velas has an amazing staff, great service, beautiful grounds, very good restaurants but unfortunately the beach is so rocky that makes your entrance into the water impossible... Water shoes is a must if you care about swimming in the ocean. For me the beach was a big disappointment since I am not a pool person and I really care about swimming in the ocean.
