Starfish Jibacoa: Wonderful snorkelling

Room was great. Food and service were excellent with lots of fresh fish! Beach is big and sandy. Just lots of wind while we were there second week of jan so lots of waves so not so great for snorkelling but we did see lots of coral and fish. Even a sting ray and barracuda. Only problem is jeff and I came home with a very itchy rash altho my brother did not get it. We spent some time in the little huts on the beach with all the comfy pillows and he did not. Hotel Acuazul: Good Times Good Friends

I just returned from 9 great days at Acuazul. I have no issues that would make me not want to go back. The room was fine, little noisy on the street but I got used to it quickly. The food was actually better than I expected. The location is paramount, as it is perfect. The beach set up was great. Great restaurant on the beach you must try. Barcelo Solymar: Barcelo Solymar

Beautiful resort with lots of activities and live entertainment. Food is terrible, and the bathroom are in very rough shape. Would recommend this resort for anyone in there 20s that wants to party. Take some antibiotics before your travel to avoid getting sick. It's not fun when it happens

Playa Vista Azul: Everything we were told to expect (both the good and the bad).

The resort was exactly as the various pictures indicated. Very clean, new, beautiful beaches, large pools, plenty of nice areas to do whatever you wanted. Want to party? Head to the pool bar area, with constant entertainment, games, music, and activities....want to read a book? Head to the lobby-bar/lounge area for quiet relaxation. The two beaches accessible from the resort have a nice contrast...the larger beach has music, staff encouraging you to play volleyball etc...and smaller beach is [... read more] much quieter and more family oriented. Both are clean, and were never too crowded during our stay. The rooms (we stayed in a deluxe pool-view room) were spacious, clean and the showers/bathrooms were very nice, the maid service was excellent...the bed was very hard, but I would say that about almost every hotel bed I've ever slept on in comparison to my own bed. The food is the biggest downside to Cuba...luke-warm, bland...avoid the buffet in my opinion. Stick to the omelette bar in the morning, pasta bar at lunch and go off-resort or a la carte (or hit up whatever the prep-bar is doing at the buffet) for dinner. A la carte service was pretty slow, and the food seemed oddly luke-warm for a prepared meal. Breads/baked goods were very good. No matter where you go...avoid beef (or "beef-meat") at all costs. Your stomach will thank you. The Cuban people both on the resort and off are the main reason I would happily go back. Helpful, cheerful, polite, courteous...can't say enough about them. We were fortunate enough to be there during their baseball playoffs...and if you have the chance to catch a Cuban baseball game...it's one heck of a party. The chanting, singing, cheering and music (drums/horns etc) is unlike anything I've ever seen at any live sporting event in Canada. All in all, would return, and the knowledge gained in our week stay as far as what (and what not to) eat will certainly help on the next trip.

Roc Barlovento: Will definitely return!

Stayed Jan 9 to 20th, enjoyed the resort, staff and entertainment. Great location, walking distance to several markets. The buffet was pretty much the same every day but always found enough to eat. The sushi restaurant was my favorite a-la carte, with Fusion second and the Mexican was just ok.

Club Karey: Excelent vocation

1043/5000 Two weeks I had a great vocation in Club Karey, Accommodation, food, service, staff all was excellent .U restaurant was never crowded and the service was excellent. My only frustrating the transfer from airport to hotel and from the hotel to the airport.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: Amazing Time in Sanctuary

My husband and I just returned from Varadero cuba.. we stayed at the Grand Memories.. Sanctuary.. this was our second time at Sanctuary, we were there in August 2016, we enjoyed it so much we decided to do a return trip for my 60th Birthday. We were not disappointed in August and we were definitely not disappointed this time either.. Our room was clean and well maintained, we never had any issues with the room or our cleaning lady..we had fresh towels every day as well as face cloths. Our mini  [... read more]frig was always restocked everyday with bottled water, pop, and beer….food is always a concern when travelling to Cuba..i can honestly say we never had any issues with food.. we ate al a carte every meal and not once did we leave a restaurant hungry..Staff go so far and above what one might expect.. everyday one of the staff stopped by to ask if everything was ok… any issues with your room.. or with staff.. the entertainment staff is awesome.. we had live music most evenings.. white party ( wear white clothing)..gala dinners diamond club dinners.. we were treated like royalty for 7 days.. the very best part of Sanctuary is their beaches, clean, never have to look for a chaise lounger , waiter always close at hand to get you what ever beverage you want.. all in all we had a fantastic vacation.. so fantastic that we are thinking of going back again in August..

Playa Caleta: It is what you make it

It is two big buidling that share the grounds. Thought I booked for puntarena but was sent over to Playa Caleta instead. Seemed that the two big pools took turns being opened, never both on the same day but we didn't go for the pool. Beach was great, huts and loungers were available. They offered free pedal boats and sail catamarans to use if wind speeds were under 20 km/hr. Food was pretty awful so we brought a blender for smoothies but fruit was limited. I'd suggest to budget for some dinners  [... read more]in town. Staff friendly & try to learn English. Hot water can be hard to get at higher floors during peak shower hours. Either complain or shower at off times, not a big deal considering how locals actually live. Place had gorgeous plants inside and out, the aloe being my fav great to cut some for sunburns! No beach vendors or excessive late night hype. Wouldn't call it party central but there is a nightly disco 11-2& dance shows at 930. $5-10 cab to market. Did find a dead cockroach in the halls on 6th night but nothing was wrong with my room at all. For the price, you can't complain (except for the food!) Visitors were mostly from Canada (french and english) and Russia, made for some heated disagreements in the buffet most nights.

Hotel Acuazul: Service has dropped!

I had been to the Acuazul Hotel about 4 years ago so I knew I was getting a very basic hotel that was run down - its still the same. I picked it this time because while run down the people who worked there made us feel welcomed and took care of us. This was not the case this time at all!!! Very poor service, and most of the employees looked unhappy. There was never any toilet paper in the washrooms by the pool and when we went to ask for it we were told they would bring some and 2 hours lat [... read more]er it was still not done. This is just one example. Waiting at the pool bar while the bartender/waitress had a conversation with a coworker it took her 7 min to even look at me...I clocked it! Then I asked for a "cervesa" and she put her finger up and said one minute and then decided to clean the sink...while I stood there waiting. I ended up going to the pay bar beside the lobby and bought a beer. When your hotel is run down - air conditioner did not work, safe did not work, shower head broken (and only on the last day did I get hot water! - let's just say I had to hand hold the shower head of either Luke warm or cold water to wash myself!) And when we asked to change rooms we were told they did not have one available - you had better take the service up a notch! Very disappointing. We decided to just make the best of it and we stayed out of the hotel as much as we could. Pretty much ate out every day - we could have found something to eat but when you have to chase a waitress down to get a glass of wine that doesn't even come while you are eating it kind of kills the experience! Too bad. I might have considered going g back again as it was very reasonable and I can ignore and/or live with run down...just can't stand to be around poor service and unhappy employees.

Occidental Arenas Blancas: nice resort.

really good value. rooms were clean . food was satisfactory . we felt safe to travel through town at all times. the beach was beautiful. the grounds of the resort were well maintained. we had been to a 4.5 star resort last year in the Dominican Republic and I found that although, the resort and food weren't as nice, the overall experience at barcelo arenas blancas was better for about $700 less per person.

Melia Las Antillas: This is all you need!

Sleeping Rooms: Tub was stained, grout was cracked and stained, some stains near the lights on the ceiling - could use some updating. No bugs. The room was clean and simple. Pool: Beautiful. Never had an issue getting a lounge chair near the pool. Beach: Amazing. You could walk along the beach for miles in either direction. Food: Best we've had in Cuba so far. Melia Las Antillas: Great Resort!

For the price, great resort! Rooms were clean and had everything you needed. Beach was the best I've ever seen, always chairs available. Food was good, entertainment every night. Grounds very nice

Mar Del Sur: A $olo travellers retreat

A basic Cuban hotel. Met all my needs and I am seasoned in travelling to Cuba. The staff behave with dignity and respect:) Grateful for small tokens of appreciation . A CUC at each meal, Sunglasses ,Bic pens, Bandanas , Smarties and/or leggings. I have been here before and will return again. An economical modest retreat,with roosters as alarm clocks lol

Playa Caleta: Terrible resort not even a 1 star

It is Cuba so I won't say anything about the food As for the hotel elevators that didn't work coffee machine didn't work The staff most of them were nice but some didn't know much about their products they were selling. Like the Internet

Club Karey: Missing Cuba

I really appreciated all of Our trip central agent Katerina Mikhailiuk time. Her extension 7219. Above and beyond customer service getting our family the best pricing. The resort was right on the water. Loved falling asleep to the ocean. Pool was clean the entrire time. Staff everywhere was friendly wishing you a great day. Greeted with warm smilies and kindness. Our family personally like smaller resorts. Neighbors across from us said they would be back and I would agree along with the rest [... read more] of my family. Grand Memories Varadero: Another good holiday in Cuba

This was our second visit to Cuba and Grand Memories (my husband and I stayed at Sanctuary on our first visit). The beach is very nice; the nightly entertainment is lacking, but there are a number of different activities to choose from on a daily basis and the disco at night that still make it interesting. The staff are helpful, friendly and accommodating, however I feel the staff (esp. Front Desk) could be better oriented and trained to direct/instruct guests appropriately (we got the Sup [... read more]erior Diamond Club package this time and found many discrepancies and conflicting responses with all we were entitled to for our stay). The resort as a whole is quite nice and generally well kept, however the common area washrooms are terrible! Much improvement is needed on keeping them clean and properly maintained. The a la carte restaurants are very good and we especially enjoyed our meal at the Cuban inspired restaurant. We were able to take a visit to Havana this time which was a fabulous. All in all a very enjoyable trip!

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Excellent Value

Excellent facility. Recommended by a friend and we were not disappointed. Swimming pools ,sandy beach and great swimming in the warm clean clear sea water with a sandy bottom and no creatures under foot was great Room was clean, comfortable and modern. Food in cafeteria was plentiful and very good. Lots of variety, The specialty restaurants for a change of pace for your pallet were first class. We have spent the last eight years in a Condo in Florida to escape the winter for two months. We can say without exaggerating that the two weeks in Cuba was a better experience then Florida. Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: A little surprised

A friend of mine and I thought the resort was quiet. The disco was out of commission. (Which is a definite for me when choosing a resort) Rooms were clean and great. We lucked out with an ocean view. The waitstaff were just "ok". I had to chase them down for coffee in the morning. The food was decent.( I did not go hungry.)The "Raquet Club" had delicious food and the waitstaff there were attentive and would smile at you. (especially dayleean) Pool bar ladies rocked as well.
