Melia Marina Varadero: Awesome place!

The Melia Marina was an awesome place to stay! Loved every second of it except for the food. The buffet is quite limited with very similar options for lunch and dinner! Great beach, Modern and clean rooms!

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Fantastic !!!!

On behalf of my husband and myself we were delighted with the resort. The staff were so kind and helpful, our room and the whole resort was clean, food was very good, and the music was so beautiful. Sol Palmeras: Amazing Resort

Highly recommended. Had a wonderful family vacation. Amazing food, amazing people would go again in a heart beat. I would recommend you stay on the 4th floor. The rooms have been newly renovated and are worth the extra money. Thank you to O'Neil Graham from tripcentral.ca for all his help

Sol Palmeras: Excellent Resort

This resort is a true gem. The staff are so friendly, kind and considerate. The food is getting better and better in Cuba. So don't let the negative reviews fool you. I would recommend this resort highly I would also recommend using O'Neil Graham from tripcentral.ca. He was amazing to deal with.

Hotel Acuazul: mixed feelings

We aimed for the cheapest hotel as in that period (right after new year) nothing was cheap. Our expectations were low but in some moments the reality we met was lower than we expected. The hotel is worn out and it requests a thorough renovation. Almost everything in the rooms looked depressing. However, the employees did everything possible to make us happy. The windows were not sealed at all so, in a windy night, they made so much noise that we had to take our mattresses and sleep in our son [... read more]s room, across the corridor. In another night, our teenager sons were freaked out by a little lizard on the ceiling in their room. I explained to them that it was placed there on purpose for hunting the insects (wink-wink). The water had very low pressure and it was in majority of the time completely cold. The food was not too appealing and it was kind of repetitive. The bar though, was better than I expected. However, the advertised snacks 24/24 did not have correspondent in reality. But the beach and the water were so good…

Resonance Blu Varadero: first time at an all inclusive great

thought that it offered many options for various activities As I have no problem walking it was a great exercise walking from dining room to restaurants to the beach I did not feel cramped in a small space nice choice in pools lots of chairs lots of shaded areas at the beach - good Nice to have restaurants of some sort open x 24 hrs tours sometimes land you back at awkward hours Thank goodness the bar is open for hot drinks prior to check out  [... read more] etc ALL STAFF VERY HELPFUL recommendations for improvement toilet paper in outlying facilities please some of the food stuffs could be hotter a small map with opening times of restaurants etc electricity warnings re bathroom plugs ( loved the hairdryer there and working ) presented with key at check in

Sol Palmeras: Expected much more !

We went to the Sol Palmeras thinking it's a 4+star and so the service / accomidation / service would be 4+ but we were disappointed. We stayed in Bungalow 229, although we loved the rustic Cuban feel in staying in a Bungalow the ants that erupted in the washroom attracted to the toothpaste I suppose was not appreciated at all. We called the customer service and they sent someone to clean up immediately but the spray aerosol they used was not kid friendly at all! So we lived with ants for a week! [... read more] The hassle of being moved to another bungalow with 2 young kids was not feasible. Plus why should we need to - we paid for our place and it should be clean. Second dispointment was we had to line up to get a seat at the Buffet - how bizarre! You'd think the resort would have capacity in consensus with the no of guests. When we got in the hostess took us to the back of the dining room saying the stroller will be just in the way - not very welcoming at all! The beach was good, food as per Cuban standards nothing to write home about and the activities all average. Certainly will not be returning to the Melia Group if this is what their sister resorts have to offer. And we travel each year. So Melia is out for sure.

Playa Caleta: Very bad stay

Everything went wrong, cockroaches in the washroom, not enough air ventilation which means if you use the wash room you'll smell it in the room, safe didn't work, maids smoking in the hallways and yelling across it, a lot of troublesome people, watched a man slap his mother, three rassian men fight by the pool. You can't even sleep at night because of the workers outside chatting and being very loud. Overall I feel like I've been ripped off

Grand Memories Varadero: Not the best resort

Main pool was good. Some people we went with had many issues with their rooms - including no power for a couple days and a couple safes not working once locked. The beaches weren't cleaned and not very nice. As for food, there are 2 buffets (not always open at the same time) and during lunch time there were a couple days we were turned away because there was "no more", forcing us to go to the snack bar which takes over an hour most times to get any food. Grand Memories Varadero: Nice Resort

We had a amazing time at Grand Memories Varadero, the staff was very helpful truth out our stay, beach was nice also the entertainment was great each night, our room was very nice and the cleaning staff went out and beyond to make our room very nice and comfortable the hold week on our stay. We had fun at the disco bar staff keep our drinks flowing an strong not water down. Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Nice Resort - really bad housekeeping that gives this place 3 Star

Beautiful Resort, Food was not bad, the beach was so nice hard to decide where to stay at the beach or by the pool, Unfortunately I had very bad experience with housekeeping in room. Now it might have been just my maid but here is story: She put back dirty linens on the bed. Had to goto management they apologized changed the sheets. I would have let that go but I notice even the extra blank and the top layer goes over the sheets were stained. The shower head was broken on our 6th day it floo [... read more]ded the bathroom, then went into our room then water flowed out the door to hallway. Which they came and cleaned up. Cheap with Towels and toilet paper not enough and no kleenex (don't think have there) so you use the toilet paper. Which they give you just one roll. If you use the complimentary toiletries like soap, they don't refill if you need more. I am sure if I had booked Royal Service this would not have happend. Oh ya the mattress had springs coming through we had to watch where we slept. So unless you do Royal Service or stay in another bulding then 1, I would not recommend this place.

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Horrible Customer Service

Nice resort but a lot of lazy employees that are too busy socializing with each other, then to take care of the paying client that had been looking forward to a vacation in Cuba. I was trying to order a drink at the pool bar and on several occasions, I would approach and there would be 4 employees standing around talking to each other and laughing and four other employees in another group doing the same at the other side of the bar. I took a picture of this encounter because I was so d [... read more]isappointed with the poor service. Also the ladies that work in the internet office are unfriendly and not helpful at all. I would not go to Blau Marian Varadero Resort again. This was a resort that my random travel agent from Trip Central recommended to me. Soooooo disappointed, could not wait to get home.

noliDUO Havana Varadero: Both Melia Resorts were Awful

First Melia Cohiba resort is taking advantage of the customers by charging for everything they possible can as well as offering very little in return. We even had to pay for coffee and water in our room at $4.00 per item. The bus offered to the city did not work the entire stay Melia Marina hotel had nothing but issues with out stay. Not only was the food not good it was always cold even in the a la carte restaurants. The bed sere twin beds in a 5 star hotel. The rooms were not cleaned  [... read more]properly nor in good repair. There was no managment available to rectify any of these issues. The nightly music was poorly put together and located in areas that were not comfortable for the guest. Ie watching a band by the pool were we only had sun loungers to sit on. In the end I would not return to Cuba. We paid over $3200 for a week and had to spend at least another $800 in incidental expenses on our trip

Grand Memories Varadero: grand memories I'd rather forget

First room that was offered to us had no toilet seat, patio door could be opened 2" ajar enough to release the chain that was holding it closed. After complain we got another room that was comparable to other ones. Tube TV's(20"?) had a picture that looked liked a 3D picture not watchable with bare eyes. All the card readers to the rooms dirty and not inviting. Rooms not too bad but looked neglected. Some rooms had no hot water, ours did. Nice vegetation, nice pools and grounds but some pl [... read more]aces a foul smell. Good service at the bars, basically no line ups. Beach was nice, but why not fix the volleyball net post for the guest to enjoy the game. Night entertainment not something that is really worth watching. Food at buffets not tasty and presented in a very unappetizing way. A la carte even worse. All plates and dishes had smudges as if they were not washed. Service at buffets terrible most of the time. Wine tasted watered down. There are better places to stay in this beautiful country. Will not go back to this hotel and do not recommend it.

Starfish Varadero: Great Resort!

Starfish Varadero offered great services and I would rate it 5 stars! Staff was very helpful, always happy, rooms were clean, food was amazing and very tasty. The manager was always observing all to make sure everyone is happy. Beach was clean and well kept. I am definitely coming back again:) See you soon Starfish Varadero :)

Melia Marina Varadero: Great Resort

The Melia Marina Resort provided a great vacation hotel with a beautiful view of the marina. The lobby was very clean and provided an opportunity to have drinks and enjoy local entertainment. The ability to have the buffet close by was also an asset.

Gran Caribe Sun Beach: Just OK

Visited same 10 years ago and was great...Now run down and hurting. Room 802 clean and comfortable. Room housekeeping great! That's about it. Elevators working 2 out of 8 days and us on the 8th floor. No hot water for whole 8 day stay! Bars constantly out of ice. Beer cold but pesky 8 oz glasses Public toilets beyond belief...dirty and only one "usable device" in each. Food mediochre and constant wait for dishes, mugs, glasses and cutlery often not clean and I mean old food on utensils. [... read more] We had food borne sickness on the last 2 days and were careful, go figure. Specialty restaurant...awful!! Italian.....avoid at all costs. Beach great and beach bar the best. Came for Sun, drinks, and beach, for the price we got what we paid for.

Sol Palmeras: Good resort

The grounds were clean. Food was better than expected. I have never been to Cuba before. We enjoyed the shows and access to the Varadero bus. Internet was always down which was upsetting because we really wanted to check in in the kids and grand parents. Front desk service was atrocious. Worst I've seen. I exchanged $300 cnd when we got. There and she gave me only $200 Cuc equivalent. Maybe an honest mistake.... I pointed it out and she corrected it. But the front desk was very slow for [... read more] money exchange, check in and check out. They only ever had one computer working and there was never am organized line. People cut in front and waited at the counter and got served first. It was very annoying.

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Gorgeous Resort!

The Iberostar Playa Alameda is located near the end of peninsula. The accommodations are in several three level apartment style.buildings. Ours had a living room/bedroom combination with a large bathroom with a tub and a separate shower stall. We had a balcony to view the well kept grounds from our third floor suite. We had been to Cuba before so knew to take an electrical converter and adapter as the power is 220. The food at the buffet was quite good and we enjoyed the a la carte Cuban dining [... read more] so much we went twice. All the staff were pleasant and friendly and very hard working. I will certainly return to this resort!

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Fantastic Time at Iberostar Playa Alameda!

A friend and I traveled to Cuba January this year (2017) and we stayed at the Iberostar Playa Alameda resort, and I must say it was awesome! Cuba is such a fantastic destination and this resort just added to our fond memories! Great food, great service, and the staff were outstanding! We could not be happier with our choice of resort! Thank you Iberostar for making our vacation perfect!
