Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Six Stars Resort

We stayed from March 06 to March 15, 2017 Room# 31731, came with a king size bed and 2 twin beds for my kids. Located in the villa 17A, which is very close to all amenities, lobby, the biggest pool from the complex, and a couple of restaurants. Excelent vacations, not a single thing to regret, I will be back to this resort right away without a hesitation.

Iberostar Waves Paraiso Beach: Amazing and clean resort

Very clean as you almost found no garbage. Workers are very friendly as they made you feel like they want you to stay in the resort at home. They have very good manner and you are willing to give the tips.

Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya: Terrible place for the money. They should be ashamed

I am currently staying at the Grand Sirenis with my family room in the 1100's.(more about that later) and thought I would give an honest account of our holiday so far, so anyone thinking of booking a holiday here, seriously considers otherwise. I have been to Mexico twice before (Playacar Palace & Moon Palace) and have had an amazing experience on each of these occasions. The Grand Sirenis is poor in comparison and certainly is NOT a 5* resort that offers the Mexican experience I am used to.  [... read more] First and foremost I have found the staff at this hotel to be extremely rude. Initially, we were given the room on the ground floor . The golf carts ride up and down at all hours, we are seniors and couldn't sleep, and it was awful! The room smelt so damp, it hit us as soon as we walked in. The curtain was hanging off the rail. Given my previous experience of Mexican hotels, I wish shocked that we had paid over $1600 pp for 21 people , for this holiday and this was the room we received. I then rang reception to confirm that I wanted to change rooms because of the noise and we are almost 90 yrs old. Whilst the room and the customer service are the worst things I have experienced on this holiday; there are a few additional pointers that I feel would be pertinent to add when reviewing this hotel: 1. At other hotels I have stayed at in Mexico, I have had a well stocked mini bar with a mixture of beers and spirits. At the Grand Sirenis you receive two bottles of beer per day and some soft drinks. The worst beer you ever tasted. If you do not like beer, then you will not be able to have a drink in your room unless you like pop or water. 2. You need to collect towels using a towel card each day. However, after almost a week here, I have seen the towel room open once. This morning I asked whether I could have a fresh towel and the guy simply responded 'no' and walked away. Myself and the queue of people that were also waiting for a towel were flabbergasted at his response and we had to go on sun loungers without towels as a result. 3. The food at the hotel is not good and the 'a la carte' restaurants are shabby. I don't expect gourmet style food, but even the simplest of meals are below par. I ordered a fettuccine pomodoro in the Italian restaurant and the bowl arrived and was half full of water. It wasn't nice at all! Each a la cart restaurant is the same room with the same white walls, with different pictures hung up. The menus are ripped and everything feels as though it needs a lick of paint/upgrade. 4. When you check in you are told that you are able to eat at 3 of the a la cartel restaurants during a week long visit. I'm not sure why this restriction is in place as each time we have eaten at an a la carte, the restaurant was half empty. No one told us that you need to book the a la carte restaurants before 3pm either, so I was less than happy when I went to my concierge at 3.45 one afternoon (you can't book these restaurants by any other means) and was told that this was not possible. I also tried to book the Japanese restaurant and was told that the earliest availability was after I will have left the hotel?! 5. You do not get a safe and wifi included with your room. If you want to get wifi, it costs approximately 700 pesos per week, per device. 6. The beach is disgusting. I'm almost 90 and the beach is very rocky. I could not go in without someone holding me. The rocks were sharp and large dive boats were taking up the only good beach area from 3 pm onwards. I would honestly urge anyone who is contemplating a holiday at this hotel to look elsewhere as there are far better hotels available. The Grand Sirenis is not a 5* resort, no where near. You will not see the best of Mexico or its wonderful people this resort should be disgusted with the amount of money they charge and the services they provide. No internet, telephone, safe, no beach in my opionion , terrible food and the worst service. Stayed March 2017, travelled with family

Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya: Needs updating definitely not a 5 STAR maybe a 2 STAR

Hotel is huge. Not good for seniors... way to much time share (members only) events. Golf carts come only every 20 minutes even though all the members only carts are sitting around doing nothing they wouldnt take my 90 year old parents unless you show them money. The members only event says it's 90 minutes and the will give you a massage... BS unless you have your spouse with you they gave ONE spa to everyone in the group and the presentation lasted 2.5 hrs ....unless you complain they don't car [... read more]e. The main pool was so loud from the entertainers you could hear them at the beach. Which was far. The entertainers were very good but way too loud. Bars at the beach and pool always had line ups with only 1 bartender serving and the rest cleaning or serving the waitresses. They re-use the plastic glasses and do not wash them very good. My daughter in law had lipstick on her cup... thank god we brought bubbas..... Only 3 Al a carts per week , not worh it. Food is not great and your limited to what you can order. Eg. Japanese.. only one teppanaki chicken ,steak, shrimp.. can't order chicken and shrimp? No free internet,charge you 10 USD for 30 minutes but don't tell you it has to be all at once... so you get charged even for 10 minutes ? Staff has very limited English. No free room safe??? Really they want to charge for everything in this place. OVERALL this is NOT A 5 STAR or all this would be free. Food in the buffet was good and sometimes better than the al a cart . THe beach is very rocky and cannot swim. Then the boats come in at 3 pm every day and take up the ONLY decent beach. I will NEVER go back to any Sirienis resorts just because of this resort. I wish we'd spent the extra money and went back to MOON PLACE Resort. where all of this was free, internet, safe, resort credit you can use for excursions, unlimited al a carts, great food, golf for free if you want, great beach, every room has an ocean view with NO extra charge, no boats taking up the only beach. Buses that run every 5 minutes, free bus to cancun with no stops to jewelry stores and tequila shops ......NOW that's a 5 star. The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Our fifth time at the Azul Fives on the Mayan Riviera and it was terrific

Hotel is growing but the staff are so kind and helpful and the fact that it is spread out with multiple long pools allows for you to choose quiet areas or not so quiet. New Thai restaurant and Asian are nice addition. The new evening entertainment in the brand new courtyard is pretty awesome

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Very good vacation!!!

I spent with my husband 1 week from March 6 to March 13 in Bahia Principe Cobá. Exceptional service by the hotel staff. In this resort you can enjoy the facilities of 3 the hotels over 4 of which make up the total resort. There are restaurants; Bars and swimming pools everywhere and have an excellent transport service to any area and hotel you want. There are many specialty restaurants out of the buffets, in our case we were able to book for 3 of them, which ones I liked very much was the Goum [... read more]et. The maintenance of pools, Beach and real areas of the hotel is incredible. The suggestions I would like to make are to vary a little more the meals in the buffets because it is almost the same food every day. Also think that they should work a little more in the animation; Both in the day in the area of ​​pools and beach as well as in the evenings offering attractive and entertaining spectacles. But in general terms we had a great time because our goal was to rest!

Riu Palace Mexico: You will never go wrong with the RIU Hotels

This is my husband and my 17th time to the RIU resorts in the Mayan Riveria. We decided to stay at the RIU Palace Mexico for the first time and we found ourselves constantly comparing the RIU Palace Mayan Riveria to the RIU Palace. The air flight and transfers to the Hotel went without any problems and the smaller vans that are now being used allows you to arrive at your Hotel quicker which is a huge improvement and very much appreciated. It is warmer in October. The food, the service, the cleanliness was excellent. The RIU Palace is a larger and more modern resort but my husband and I feel more at home at the RIU Mayan Riveria. The entertainment team during the day was disappointing at the RIU Palace as we were use to the team interacting more with you and trying to learn about you and entertain you. The shows at night at the RIU Palace were very entertaining. I only wish that a 10 day stay could be arranged., 2 days are lost travelling leaving only 5 days to relax and enjoy everything that there is to offer. However our much needed get away was everything we expected and I am already looking at booking in October. You can never go wrong with the RIU Hotels.

Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya: Amazing Resort

This resort is big and beautiful in every way possible. The grounds are impeccable with paved walk ways or wood walk ways to restaurants and the beach. The architecture of this resort is amazing. The landscaping is amazingly beautiful. The rooms are spacious, modern and cozy with every thing you need to enjoy your stay. The restaurants have everything imaginable to satisfy your taste buds. The food and service at these restaurants is truly a dinning experience. The entertainment people crea [... read more]te an enthusiastic atmosphere for everyone to join in the fun. The pools are beautiful with lots of scenery around them. The staff at this resort make you feel like a queen or king and they offer services above and beyond your expectation. Everyone at this resort is so friendly that you just feel so much at home and ease. The beach is nice also but I have seen better. The service at the beach is great though. Overall this resort is well worth the money to spend your vacation. I definitely recommend this resort to everyone. You won't be disappointed!

Barcelo Maya Colonial: great resort!

Everything was great about that resort. Nice location, nice beach, nice food, nice weather. A lot of activities to do. We love the tennis, basketball court. We love to do snorkeling at the beach in front of the hotel.

Excellence Riviera Cancun: EXCELLENCE RIVIERA CANCUN - A TRUE 5 STAR RESORT

My sweetheart and I enjoyed 10 nights at this resort from March 04/17 to March 14/17. I have never written a review about a resort in the past because I just didn't think the place was worth it until now . This resort I feel is truly a 5 star + resort . They seem to do everything right and are always very happy to make you happy and satisfied .The resorts grounds are kept immaculate and we couldn't help but notice the abundance of staff maintaining , cleaning and servicing everything and everyo [... read more]ne . If you called for a service repair , they were at your door within 5 minutes and then you received a call immediately after the repair person was there verifying that the issue was corrected . We noticed there was always a manager walking around the resort days and nights , including the restaurants taking notes and I believe this is why this resort is so well run and maintained . Just to emphasize this , we were having supper at the Mexican Restaurant one night and a manager asked us how we liked the resort as well as other questions and after we told him how much we loved the place , my wife being vertically challenged a little mentioned to the manager that her only complaint was that the beds were a little high for her to get into and that a stool or something would be nice to have in the room for her to get into bed . The manager just smiled and jotted something down and we never thought any more about it. The next day while we were out of our room , they came in and lowered the bed for her !! Needless to say , she was overwhelmed by this because at the most she thought she might get a stool to help her get into bed . We were told that this resort was at 80% occupancy while we were there , but it never felt even half full , in fact most days it seemed like there was hardly anyone there. You never had to save a chair or bed at the beach or around a pool and there were more than enough available at both . The main swim up pool was really the only pool that you had to get there early for a chair. The servers were always checking on you if you needed drinks no mater were you were even on the beach . Room service was very fast and we never waited more than a couple of minutes at one the 9 a la carts . We loved the fact you didn't have to reserve where to eat each night . We also loved that you can get any premium liquor and beer . The Grill was a great place to have lunch and they even have a wood fired pizza oven at the main pool bar with great pizzas . As well at this bar , every day there was live entertainment which we loved regardless of where you were at the bar or as we were at our swim up room in building 7 . We met allot of really nice couples that felt the same way and many of them were return customers , some more than at least 6 times . We also noticed a very good mixed age span at this resort from young to older couples which to us indicated there was a good variety of activities for all age groups . Great relaxing resort that we highly recommend and we will definitely return too. The only down side to this resort is the sea weed on the beach and in the ocean water when the wind is up , and the wind is usually up in Feb and March. That said there is a lot of beautiful beach front at this resort and it is wide. The seaweed is cleaned up daily by the crews all day long. We did have 2 calm days , and when that happens the seaweed is minimal and swimming in the ocean is beautiful. Room tip : Building 6 or 7 . Both are near the heated pool , activities and closer to the restaurants and main building/theater . Thank you Trip Central and Shelly D for all their help with choosing and organizing our travel needs . This was our best vacation ever.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Our Oasis in the Jungle!

This resort blew away our expectations. Loved that we could swim in the pools of Coba, Tulum and Akumal and eat in their restaurants then run back to our quiet and quaint Oasis. In our opinion, the buffet of Sian Ka'an was the best by far although the smallest. The grounds were immaculate, the workers friendly and everyone was willing to do whatever it took to make you happy. Best vacation by far! Dreams Aventuras Riviera Maya: PERFECT FAMILY VACATION

Our family just returned from a fabulous week at Dreams Puerto Aventuras. The hotel was the perfect size, wasn't overly large which was great for young families. Our daughters (6&9) were able to get around and always in our view, unlike other resorts we've stayed at in the past. We had a ground level family suite, which was amazing. We were able to walk in and out all day long, and great for us when kids were in room resting after a long day in the sun. We had great food and went to all of the  [... read more]a la carte restaurants. It was extremely nice not having to make reservations. We never had to wait and were always taken care of. The barefoot grille made the most amazing wood fire pizzas. To die for! There was a lot of options and never repeat meals. Lots of varieties and plenty of food! Dulce, at the main pool, always made sure we had something cold to drink and was a sweetie. The Kids Club was fantastic and always had activities for the kids. Our girls participated in crafts and bungee trampoline. It was nice that my husband and I felt safe to leave the girls for activities. The entertainment team was fantastic. They truly keep that resort happening. Giovanni, Bernice, Jorge... Loved the water aerobics, Zumba, foam party in pool, zip lining across Beach, sandcastle competition...all an amazing experience that was a wonderful experience for our family. The nightly shows were good, Magic shows, fire show. We participated in the Dolphin Discovery on site as well. However, I booked directly on the website 2 weeks before we arrived. I was able to get a deal (50%) off entire booking, where it was extremely pricey to book at actual location . The town of Puerto Aventuras also has Dolphin Discovery programs too, where you can swim with Dolphins, Manatees and Sea Lions. Puerto Aventuras was a lovely experience. Our daughters had their hair braided, bought souvenirs and ate amazing gelato ice cream! We were able to see the marina and the fish that were caught during day. We were very impressed with the friendliness, the smiles that everyone gave and it truly was an amazing experience. We would recommended this resort for sure!

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Great resort

Beautiful ground. Very good food. Very nice pools. A lot of activities such as mini golf , tennis , kayaking , free catamaran lessons Wind surfing lessons water tricycle paddleboard and so on to keep you busy . I would definitely come back .

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Amazing Resort

This was by far the best resort I have ever stayed at everything was terrific, if I had to make one complaint it would be that the free WiFi is only available 10.00 to 1.00pm located in the mall, other resorts have had free WiFi in the hotel lobby in the evening, but to be honest it was really nice not be on cell phones the whole time and we had a famous week. The Japanese restaurant was awesome.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Mixed feelings

The maya colonial is an amazing property, very large with plenty of amenities. Unfortunately we did not enjoy our time there as much as we liked and considering the premium we paid for it we had high expectations. Our rooms ( another family came with us ) were unsatisfactory and their explanation was bizarre to say the least ( they cannot garantee the rooms at booking time??) When they finally found us a room with 2 beds they were double beds and we would have expected queens. They were unable t [... read more]o provide us with any ala cartes before 930 pm for the first 4 days, the 5th day was available but was not my prefered choice. We reached out to trip central on 2 occasions and they were unable to provide assistance, air transat was also unable to provide assistance. All staff at the hotel were friendly and professional at all times. Despite the amenities included they were constantly hitting us up for extra charges, in some cases more than what trip central had on file ( pirates island ) . The mini golf looked fun but was only complementary during the day, after 7 pm they wanted 10 dollars us per person to play, i found that tacky to say the least. The resort was full but it never loomed full which speaks to the overall size of the place. I suppose i would stay there again but i would need some better assurances on rooms and ala cartes in advance.

Grand Sirenis Mayan Beach: Five Star Resort

This was a beautiful spot! The grounds were well kept and the rooms were spacious and spotless! The staff were friendly and very helpful everywhere on the resort. The specialty restaurants were superb....my favourite was the Japanese...not only was the food delicious but the chef was extremely entertaining! The buffet always had a wonderful selection...something for everyone. I cannot say enough about the entertainment.....excellent every night. The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Great resort

Had a great time at this resort. The food was great, the rooms were very nice and clean and the staff and the service were excellent. The only thing that could improve would be to have a few more loungers around the pools and stop people from putting there towels on them first thing in the morning and not returning all day.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: A Little bit of Paradise

This was a very nice all-inclusive resort. There are several buildings to accommodate guests. Our room was nice and clean with stocked bar fridge daily! The views from most rooms open out to a balcony that has wildlife literally outside your window. It's a nice size resort in a jungle setting which is a plus if you enjoy watching animals in the wild as you are right in the middle of monkeys, iguana's, parrots and so many other interesting wildlife. There are lots of beautiful pools, an [... read more] adult pool, and a beach inlet that has a net to keep most ocean wildlife out of the resort beach ocean swimming area. Some smaller fish do make their way in, though and the inlet shelters keep the beach goers from some wind - in this inlet is where the snorkeling is - the water was quite murky and smelly on some days - I think it depends on the current that allows the water to refresh from the ocean. The resort's beach area is located at the back of the resort, depending on which building you are in, it can take a good 10 minutes to walk there. There is no ocean front sandy beach this was a huge drawback for us. The resort allows you 1 free hour of snorkeling a day, but we had to carefully climb down the rocks and carefully swim out to snorkel to avoid the sharp rocks. Food was great, selection at the main buffet was amazing, they even have the specialty teas and a cappuccino machine! The food is upgraded at the Specialty restaurants, which include a Steak house, Italian, Mexican, Seafood & Asian. Our favorite was the Seafood restaurant - the bonus is there are no reservations at any of the restaurants - and you can go more than once! There is the Pizza Grill and Paco Taco's which is casual dining open until the wee hours of the morning. Staff was very nice and pleasant. Entertainment - the best show we thought was "Mexico" - which had dances and costumes that represented the whole of Mexico. A truly beautiful relaxing place to stay. The only downfall of this place is the staff that try and sell upgrade packages - and do not take no for an answer. This unfortunately put a damper on our vacation - as there is someone who sits at the entrance of your bldg all day - so trying to avoid them is almost impossible, which they know. We made the mistake of agreeing to see the club package - we were asked for deposit of $20US - 2nd mistake, we were told this reserves a spot and you get funds back after presentation. We were also offered the Xcaret park entrance at a discount, we told them we were not interested in that then the rep Carlos mentioned some other tour packages and asked what we were interested in only after this we were allowed to leave and head to breakfast and we were late for our presentation meeting with airline rep (which they are fully aware of too). They gave us this bright pink beach bag as a token. We felt we were literally forced - after this playing on our minds most of day, we went back to tell that we would like to cancel as this does not interest us. There was a different person at the desk - he said he would have to call his supervisor. We waited for the supervisor - he arrived and went over everything we had heard in the morning - we told him several times we felt we were rushed this morning we had another meeting to attend which we were late for due to this - we simply want to cancel. This supervisor Christian Muniz became quite rude - and told us it will affect Carlos numbers and we are taking away from him - this is his bread and butter! We apologized and again politely told him we would like to cancel we have already wasted so much time. Eventually, he said ok but wait till you speak with Carlos when he returns tomorrow am before your presentation. Again, we reinforced that we just want to cancel and would like our $20US back. He started getting upset and said you were given a beach bag....we told him he can have that bag back! Then he said that he does not have funds and they can be reimbursed tomorrow! He took the form we had been given earlier that day - I asked to take a pic before he took it and that's when he literally lost it - he took out his wallet and slammed the $20.00US on the table !!!! Needless to say, we avoided coming in and out of our building during the rest of our stay!

Bel Air Collection Xpu-Ha Riviera Maya: Fantastic Vacation

Started off with Teresa Gates at Trip Central who was great in every way getting us what we needed to make our trip perfect! Upon arrival, our Sunwing driver Manuel was super and Sunwing representative Daniel at Xpu-Ha worked with us for anything we needed for our tours etc. My son even lost his phone on the way to the resort and it was returned in a couple of days. We went on a family vacation with 8 of us. Feb. 10 - 24 2017. Some (6) went home after a week and my husband and I stayed for  [... read more]a second. We all had a fantastic time! The staff was very friendly (some language barriers) and accomodating. The food, atmosphere and entertainment were all great! The room and beds super comfortable. A bit of an issue with the air conditioning for a day or 2 but we worked with it. All of the neysayers about this resort are just too picky!! The Chimps, Panther, Jaguars, and all of the other creatures there were great to see. They are looked after just fine. I'd like to give a shout out to Jesus and Alex at the pool bar who always made us feel welcomed and never left us empty. Oh and Hector (aka Super Mario) the entertainment director, he was a lot of fun! At the main restaurant Captain Javier Rodriguez was the best server you could ask for! He even went out of his way to make a special dinner for us. It was our 25th wedding anniv. Come visit us in Canada Javier!! :) The Sushi bar was awesome! The resort is huge and beautiful...3 cenotes all lovely. If you're in a hurry to get places then go somewhere else. We found short cuts which were very helpful. This place is super laid back and relaxing. I'm not a huge beach person but of course had to take a dip in the ocean. All in all I would not only recomend this resort, but I would return as well.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Beautiful Grand Resort!

Our stay at the Luxury Bahia Principe Akumal for a dozen days was fabulous and enjoyed our entire time there! The resort is very large and used the trolley mostly to travel over to other sections of the resort including Tulum, Coba, Hacienda and Sian Ka’an. Trolley availability was excellent no matter where you cared to travel to on the resort. The grounds were landscaped well and were always beautifully trimmed and manicured. The food in main buffet was wonderful and always fresh /abundant  [... read more]along with having the option of dining A-la-carte every evening was a nice touch. We would find lounging chairs either at the beach or around poolside / infinity pool daily within any problem and appreciated the adult only section of beach when we wanted quiet time. There were activities at the beach we could participate along, which was great! There were plenty of fish to see snorkelling in the calm swim area created by the ocean break. Upon leaving we had to be in lobby to catch a 7:10 airport bus and many of us were there earlier for checkout and with only 1 person at the counter performing that task made checking out rather long. We enjoyed the property very much and plan to return next year with only one request that we get a villa closer to the infinity pool.
