VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Great resort

All round everything good, great beach, pools, food. Only negative thing is the entertainment it wasn’t that good I would recommend this resort to both a family and or a couple it’s great for either lots to do

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Way Way Too Busy

The grounds were beautiful, the beach was nice and the weather was gorgeous. However, the food was just okay. We couldn’t always find something appetizing at the buffet and the a la cartes food was worse than the buffet. The room had a great view of the beach but no privacy on the balcony, even though each had a jaccuzzi you had to deal with parting neighbours staring at you. The bathroom in the room did not have a private door- just a frosted glass slider with a hole in it as a handle. The se [... read more]rvice unfortunately was one of the worst parts. We could head to the buffet for breakfast and not one server would acknowledge us or offer water. We did stumble across a couple friendly staff, but that was not the norm. We also decided to stay at the palace because we were told you could stay at one and “play” at them all, however when we tried to go to the the adults only “beach resort” for some much needed quiet to relax at the beach, we were told we were not allowed to get drinks at the bar. And the front desk confirmed this. If we were just looking for warm weather and ocean breeze we would have been happy. However we wanted a quiet romantic getaway with great food- and this wasn’t it.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Beautiful landscaped resort

Arriving at the resort the lobby was beautiful, bright and clean. Check in with the front desk staff was a bit confusing, they didn't seem to be well trained in hotel reception. We were suprise to be charged $20.00 for the use of our room safe and to be told if we loose our all inclusive bracelet there would be a charge of $200.00 for replacement. Our room was nicely decorated and clean with a lovely balcony overlooking mature palms. All the pools and grounds were beautiful. Food was just okay b [... read more]ut the servers in most of thre restaurants were polite and attentive. The beach was a bit short and the ocean had a lot of seaweed, but still beautiful. We had a wonderful week relaxing in the sun but we will choose another resort next holiday in the D.R..

Paradise Playa Dorada: Beautiful resort!

Adults only area was great, your own pool, your own beach, your own bar and restaurant. The service was great with friendly staff. Rooms were always taken care of, always had enough towels. Great place to relax and enjoy the weather.

Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Punta Cana: Amazing hotel

The hotel once again lived up to our expectations. There was plenty of food choices and the quality was good and the service was good . We will be going back again for our 4th trip. The pool service was a little slow and could do with improvement

Royalton Bavaro Resort and Spa: Royalton Bavaro Punta Cana

Nice resorts food was excellent room was clean,there was staff at the front desk of our building who harassed us everytime we left or entered the building and there was a bit of a language barrier but other then that a high end resort.

Dreams La Romana: Not so great

We booked a last minute all-inclusive to stay at the Hilton, La Romana in DR. Although we were told this was a 5 star resort...I would completely disagree. Over the course of the week, we likely mentioned to reception 3-4 times that it was our anniversary and we didn't even get flowers or a darn balloon to help us celebrate. The kicker, we advised the travel agent when we even booked...I know every other resort I have stayed out would go out of their way to ensure someone celebrating would be  [... read more]treated as celebrating....not for this resort. Did I mention that when we were picked up from the airport and almost got into an accident because our driver was driving carelessly. He almost hit a car going over 100, but luckily we all screamed and he maneuvered quickly out of the way.....we were all shocked and terrified. Here is a breakdown of all the things that were good vs not: Good: staff was friendly by pool bar, restaurants and reception...no complaints there, room staff were amazing, ensured rooms were always presentable and there to help if there was anything additional required Not good: cleanliness in the VIP beach, we noticed the sand and beach had the same garbage, towels and mess for days at a time. The way to differentiate was orange towel had access to the premium area, and whomever had brown towels has access to the regular beach areas. Every morning we would try to find space and would have to ask the staff to clear off spots as there were brown towels everywhere. We noticed after the second day that the beach was not well maintained in the premium area. There was garbage, tables were a mess, used towels from the previous night still on the beach the next day. After 3 days of seeing the same mess on a couple of the tables and the same garbage in the same area, I finally asked one of the staff members to clean it up, as it was upsetting. It was cleaned shortly after. The food was ok...not a ton of variety and it was very evident that the food from the night before was being reused the next morning...not very appealing. The variety in fruit was minimal... and for the kids we would ask for fresh avocado. You ask 3 people and they would day they don't have it, and then you ask another and suddenly they have it. This was a daily occurrence, literally trying to find the one kitchen staff that would get us avocado. Having been to several other resorts in the Dominican we found this to be the least appealing when it came go food. Asking for your eggs to be well done, was not always well received, which was shocking. We had 3 kids with us and on the site it clearly stated that there were loads of activities for the kids and even at the front desk they provided a breakdown of the activities for the day....I was shocked when there was minimal activities going on, even after being advertised. Ie...poor aerobics...cancelled....pool volleyball...nope! There is no music at the main pool and next to no activities. There was a second pool in the premium area, that had a little better vibe, but was meant to be the quite pool...so still nothing for the kids to do in terms of activities. When I asked the manager on location why the activities were not taking place, I was told there was low participation. HUH? don’t you need to run the activities to get people excited to participate? Either way, the entire week we were there, we saw a max of maybe 15 people at the main pool and the resort at most day times felt empty. I asked the manager about that as well, and they stated that the resort just flipped over from a dreams so was trying to rebuild on things....clients, the facilities and even blocked off the adult area as it was being renovated. Explains a little but something just didn’t feel right. Everyone we spoke to seems to be dissatisfied and said they would not return. We continued with our week, and then the Dominican night happened. There was a beach buffet set up, a bunch of vendors who were selling jewelry...which was great until one of them took things a little to far. My daughter had to go to the washroom, I took her and had to walk through the vendors that were lined up around the pool. As we were walking by, clearly rushing as she had to go, one of the vendors asked us to stop. I told him that my daughter had to go to the washroom, but we would definitely return when we came back. He wasn’t overly impressed and continued to push why I wouldn’t just stop and look right then and there. I explained yet again, that my daughter had to go to the washroom and that I would be happy to stop after. He then got a little mean, grabbed my hand and said, "you don’t want to talk to me because I am Black and old right?" My jaw dropped! I could not believe what I was hearing! My 9 year daughter felt horrible and asked me what I did that he would say that....she was upset as was I. I had to explain things to her, but seriously was in disbelief myself. In totally shock, I told the gentlemen that what he said was inappropriate and that me not wanting to stop had nothing to do with either of what he said. I walked away shocked, and on my way back from the washroom I asked to speak to the Manager on Duty. Once pointed out, I explained to the manager what had just happened, he said "ok, thank you for letting me know" and that was that! He didn’t even ask me to point the gentlemen out or anything...just a simple "ok". The entire night, I was wondering if I should even say anything or just leave it. The next morning, I asked to speak to a manager again, this time in the premium reception. The Lady at reception said the manager was not available to speak to me, but she was the assistant was willing to help out. I explained to her what happened along with details, she took a few notes and said that she would pass onto the manager and get addressed. I asked the young lady to have the manager connect with me when they are back, and she said ok. I went about my day with my family, and then I noticed the same assistant was waiting by the pool waiting for me. I spoke to her, and she explained that she spoke to the manager about my concern and that he advised he was sorry and that the vendor would not be around until the following week, and so I need not be concerned as I wouldn't need to see them again! HUH??? Long story short, the actual manager did not come to speak to me but he did send some fruit to our room, I assume to apologize for what happened and that was that! This entire incident was embarrassing, inappropriate and poorly handled. Was I looking for someone to be fired? No, did I want someone to act as though they actually understood why this was a problem and it shouldn't have happened...yes! Anyhow, we ended up leaving 2 days later and to be honest, we couldn’t have been happier. In comparison to other resorts we have stayed at this was dull and not fun for families and clearly the management didn't take this serious incident overly serious. My recommendation....spend your money wisely and go to another resort where you can trust you will be taken care of and respected for choosing this resort over others. FYI the rating below are stuck at terrible...i would rate the service 3/5, location 3/5 and cleanliness 4/5.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Very nice resort

Excellent buffet and alacarts,Free wifi unreliable, none of the bikes worked, beach towels not always available, very friendly staff, felt safe, vendors on beach constantly asking you to buy but they respect when you say no thanks, beautiful beach, I would definitely go there again!

Viva V Samana by Wyndham: Super belles vacances reposantes!

Villégiature moderne et bien tenue. Super belle plage! De belles vagues, long à marcher des deux côtés (environ 4km ou plus d’un côté puis minimum 3km de l’autre). Villégiature où on se repose, vraiment (lecture, exercices, beauté de la végétation,...). Super bon service partout, bel atmosphère, détente assurée. Fortement recommandée.

Paradise Playa Dorada: Tranquility in Grand Paradise

This resort is very tranquil. Our upgrade to the Select Club made our trip more memorable. The location of our clean and adequate room to the pool and ocean was very convenient. The selection of buffet items was very plentiful and selective. The drinks were well prepared and the beach towel availability with no issue was a bonus. The beach chairs and a wide selection of umbrellas was also a perk. The lack of a la cartes restaurants was not an issue as the Select club meal and drink variations  [... read more]made up for it. The friendly staff and well kept grounds was also nice. The close proximity to the airport was very convenient.

Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: Beautiful Resort

We just spent 10 days with another couple (related and best friends) we cannot say enough about this amazing resort. It was clean the grounds were well immaculate and gorgeous the food was the best we have ever experienced in the 15+years we’ve been travelling! Bahia Principe Explore Legend: As amazing as the first time!

Returned to this hotel for a second time with our 6 y.o. son. It was as great as the first time. From the check in that was very quick, to our room, always clean and stocked with the usual, to all the restaurants ( A la carte or buffets). The service was always provided with a smile, and special attentions provided to our son. Even though hotel was near capacity, we never had to search too much to get a chair at the water park, main pool or beach side. Making our reservations at the A la ca [... read more]rte restaurants went well and food at buffet is good enough that we even cancelled an A la carte reservation one night to go back to buffet. This hotel is geared for families with children so not the best spot for a romantic getaway, but trust me, your kids will love it. No sign of the Hand, foot, mouth illness that we see in a lot of reviews. All being said, we are considering returning in December for Christmas with friends and their children

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Great well run resort

The beach is not great if that is high on your wish list. The pool area was very nice with lots of shade available if you get up at 5am. Yes it is one of those places. Nothing like getting up at 530am just to get a couple seats around the pool. The food was very good as good as any inclusive place I have visited under $2000 per. Drinks were good as was the bar service. The weather was fantastic for our week which is very important. Also one of my friends had a cane and got around the place easily but needed a ground floor room.

Punta Cana Princess: Wonderful vacation!

We had a wonderful vacation at the Punta Cana Princess from February 28 to March 5.We had requested a room close to the beach because my husband had injured his leg and after arriving at dawn due to bad weather in Toronto, we were very happy to be on the bottom floor and in a room easily accessible to everything, pool, beach and Mare Nostrum. The staff is really energetic, fun and helpful at this resort and made us feel very welcome and comfortable.A special recognition to Gray, Dalson, Jose  [... read more]and Kenia as well as Ania. We loved that we didn't have to make reservations for the restaurants and really enjoyed the seafood at the Mare Nostrum and the Fondue. The steakhouse was so-so but others were happy with it. We heard good things about the Italian. Lots of older people here because there isn't much walking. We will come again as we age as things are convenient for you but lots of fun! The beach of course is amazing with lots of big waves to jump in. This was my second time here and it didn't disappoint. Thank so much everyone for a wonderful vacation.

We have traveled down south a number of times but this was the first to an all-inclusive with our young kids. We were a group of 3 families all having 2 kids each, ages ranging from 4-8 years old. Usually when we travel we travel to places where we cook on our own - so it was nice not to have to think about food and what to eat. There was something for everyone to eat for sure. We found a beach spot close enough to the pool that we could run back and forth all day as some wanted to be at beach in our group and some wanted to be at pool. The places we have traveled in the past have not been as big so we found the beach to be super crowed but that comes with a large complex and no fault of anyone - just not our cup of tea. the Japanese restaurant was by far the best food and experience, they did a great job here - I highly recommend you book in advanced at least twice during your time there. Evening shows were great but a little late for the kids. Kids "mini" activities were at 8pm and the show was at 9pm - which made for a long day, but they all hung in and enjoyed them all. It would have been nice to have them at 7pm and 8pm (but I know it is hard to accommodate everyone). Over all a great place to go if all-inclusive is what you are looking for. It is very large and has lot of variety - pool and beach are nice with lots of places to eat near by.

Impressive Punta Cana: impressive resort and spa

Très belle plage, bien entretenue. Bon service, staff amical. Toutefois trop de nick nack à vendre sur la resort par des gens souvent trop harcelants. Manque de staff pour le nettoyage de chambres ! La nourriture très bien au buffet international ,excellente variété! Resto à la carte un boff ! Qualité/prix c'est très bien !

Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana: Lovely vacation stay!

Went with a group of 8 people. Resort is extremely well maintained. Grounds were beautiful and lush. Staff was lovely and friendly - never pushy. Celebrated a special birthday while there and the staff at the Italian restaurant went out of their way to provide us with a delicious birthday cake and fun experience. Wilki and Naikol were our favourite servers at the buffet. Food was great - loved, loved, love the Italian restaurant and the Steakhouse was our second favourite. Rooms were love [... read more]ly and always clean. The beach is beautiful and the pool was great too! The only thing we didn't care for was the push to discuss timeshares when we first arrived. We were all tired, hungry and thirsty and the only thing we wanted to do was get to our room to refresh and change then find food and drink.

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Amazing Resort

This resort is fantastic. We were not sure how we would feel about how big it was....but honestly you don't feel the size at all. Everything is quite close and walkable. Great for kids. Tons to do. We would definitely return!

Impressive Premium Punta Cana: Very Impressive

Beautiful stay for family. Speciali with small children.There is so much to do in the daytime and evening, Interment very nice ,for children is something special that I enjoyed my there should be more for adult's ,like dancing after show was only for an uhr..Disco was boring and not for our age.maybe more for adults. thanks
