Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: Amazing Resirt

This resort was beyond our expectations. Upon arrival we were greeted with cold drinks and cool clothes. We were given the room we requested upon booking, a large, beautiful, very clean , well stocked, comfortable very close to main pool area and beach on the adult only side. All services were provided at this resort, including turn down service each night. The buffet on both sides of the resort were huge with a different menu each night. The entertainment was awesome both during the day at pool [... read more]side and shows in the evening. We have been to many resorts, and Bouganville would be our best choice to date. Thank you to all staff at Bouganville who made our stay a fabulous one.

Secrets Royal Beach: Didn't want to leave

This is the first trip south where my husband, and I weren't ready to come home. The resort is beautiful and very well maintained. We had excellent, friendly service. The atmosphere is very laid back. Most of the daily activities take place around the pool area so if you are not into that, the lazy river offers a relaxing alternative. Overall the food was excellent. The buffets get tiresome, but that has been our experience at every resort we have visited. The lobby bar makes excellent cocktails with premium liquors. Our biggest complaint is that there are a limited amount of lounge chairs around the pool and lazy river areas, and we found that if you don't secure one by 7 am, there are slim pickings after that. By 8 am we found that all chairs were spoken for. We were also very disappointed with the number of people that reserve their chairs by placing a towel or some other object on it and then spend the day at the beach. This resort needs to enforce its 8 am policy.

Grand Palladium Palace: Excellent 7 days

This was our third stay at the Grand Palladium palace resort spa and casino. My wife and I were extremely satisfied with all aspects of the resort. The renovated junior suite we stayed in was very clean everything worked well and the bed was very comfortable. Our suite was approx. a one minute walk to the beach(that's about the same time for all suites ),The beach is clean and tidy with ample places to get a nice refreshing drink. We found the beach nice and quiet which is what we look [... read more] forward to, There are vendors walking the beach trying to get you to buy things, We found that if you didn't look at them they would continue walking on. The ala carte dining was nice however, if you wish to go to the steak house we suggest you arrive shortly after it opens for dinner or you will have to wait a considerable length of time. The buffets were good .A nice selection ,Any person who is( for lack of a better term) a picky eater should have no problem. Customer service we received was excellent,.in fact we spoke to other visitors who felt the same way. Front line staff were professional, knowledgeable,friendly and always very pleasant to deal with . Looking forward to going back next year to the Grand Palladium Palace Resort spa and casino

Iberostar Selection Hacienda Dominicus: Beautiful resort

We had a wonderful time at this resort. The food was really good and the grounds were spectacular and so well kept. Hope to return next year again. We loved some of the additions since our last visit and the staff are very friendly and attentive. We were sorry to leave.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Great value resort

Beautiful grounds, very clean, friendly staff, great pool but showing it’s age. Best food we had at a resort. Lots of variety. Great entertainment. Would of preferred more live music in square for dancing.

Catalonia Bavaro Resort: Amazing family vacation

Had the best time while staying at this resort. Staff was friendly and helpful. Food was exceptional but the restaurants were better. Japanese was my favourite. Maid service was fantastic and the fridge was always stocked. Would definitely go back again.

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Honest and Realstic Review

Grounds - absolutely gorgeous, very modern, sleek, white, clean. Landscape was well kept and it’s obvious to be a new resort with no repairs needed, however some amenities are still in construction. Public areas - well mainted with etiquette seating and cleaned frequently by staff. There is a lovely walkway up to a pavilion that looks over the resort and the port for cruise ships - we enjoyed watching the sunrise from here and observing the cruise ships coming in. Rooms - very simple a [... read more]nd traditional, as you would have at any Caribbean resort. Cleaned on a daily basis, fridges and toiletries stocked daily. There is a safe in the room and a complimentary bottle of whiskey on your first day. Beds are very comfortable and towels are nice and soft! Dining - Buffet has many selections with something for everyone, fresh fruit and vegetables also available. Snack Bar and Sports Bar have classic “pub food” that you can order to your table. There were only 2/4 a la carte restaurants available during our stay. The Steak House was PHENOMENAL with delicious food, service and atmosphere. Specific shoutout to Edwin and Amaurys C who were doing an incredible job. The IItalian Restaurant was disappointing as the service was very poor and slow and unfortunately multiple parties had walked away from their tables after not being served anything after the first hour wait. The ice cream shop, pizza shop and cafe were all very nice additions for a quick treat almost any time during the day. Beverages - good quality soda and juices used, bottled water used all around the resort, beverage were all classic and tasted yummy. I believe some of the liquors were watered down however I couldn’t prove that but other guests could. A pretty big downfall was how the pool bar would very often run out of products, at one point during our stay the pool bar ran out of white wine, vodka, tequila, white rum, ice and straws. (Other bars were equipped with this so not sure if it was the staff being told to not re stock or what the deal was) Features - this resort lacks in any extra activities for guests to enjoy, they did not have nightly shows or kids activities or water sports. There was a yoga class in the morning or something small happening around the pool but you were never really notified so by the time it was happening it was already over. With that being said, the resort next door you have full access to and they do offer all of these amenities for guests... so if you are in to that, you can go for a walk over at any point. Service - I have probably been to approx. 20 all inclusive resorts in my life time and have never received such slow service. Getting a drink at the bar was so incredibly hard with no one really wanting to take your order or even look at you. It didn’t matter if you had a tip in your hand or a big smile on your face. All bartenders were moving at a very slow pace and I would say that a drink would take anywhere from 5 minutes - 15 minutes to get. (No dramatic affect added here) and if you tried getting a big order it was considered an inconvenience for most bartenders.

Be Live Experience Hamaca Beach: Bad experience

Service was poor, food quality was poor, cleanliness of room poor. Staff was rude and 99% of them knew absolutely no English, the entire week stayed at the hotel we would have to ask daily for basic things such as towels, tissue and toilet paper.

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Beautiful and clean resort

The resort is recently updated and still going through some renovations, not everything is open yet but you access to the resorts beside it as well so there are plenty of activites and food options. The senator is very clean, there is always a bathroom attendant constantly cleaning, floors are always mopped, probably one the cleanest resorts I've been to. Reception was a little slow to check in when we arrived but we were greeted with drinks and everyone was very pleasant. Sports bar serves drin [... read more]ks and food all night, the chicken strips were so good! Gustavo was amazing, always super helpful and attended to whatever we needed! Melvin and Julio make great drinks. There is nightly entertainment of some sort every night, not always a show but you can go next door for a nightly show, it's only a 2 minute walk away. You can also walk over to Amber cove to a little market and watch the cruise ships come and go. Service can be a little slow at times but they are working on it as they are still fairly new. All in all, no real complaints about the resort or staff.

Paradisus Punta Cana: Great resort

We had a wonderful vacation at Paradisus Punta Cana, due largely to Argenis, who did a superb job of making sure that all of our wants were fulfilled at the pool. Drinks, towels, snacks and even lunch were delivered right to our decadent cabana bed. Argenis made sure that we wanted for nothing. Jose Durand and Yuleidi Rosa provided friendly service in The Gabi restaurant. We appreciated the cleanliness of all spaces, beautiful gardens and ponds. Our bed and pillows were comfortable and we love the oversized fluffy towels. Attention to small details throughout made us feel welcome.

Iberostar Waves Punta Cana: Our third time.

We like this resort . It was our third time there. The last time we were there was 2013. There are some things different from the last time we were there. One of the pools was redone and now the other one will be in the summer. It really needs it. The food was good. We could always find something good to eat. The room could use a bit of a refresher. I was disappointed that because it was our 3rd time there that they did nothing special for us. Also we only had one day that housekeeping made a design with the towels. The weather was beautiful and I love the beach so much.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Good resort for the price

The resort was beautiful but very big and a lot of stairs. There wasn’t much of a beach. We like the pool so it didn’t bother us. The standard rooms are ok. Clean. The only issue was sometimes we didn’t have hot water and ac quit working. They were fast to fix. Upgrade if you can. If your not picky and don’t mind making a quick call. Then it’s fine.

Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: Very Impressed!

We loved everything about our stay at the Esmeralda. The service was top notch and the fact that we could get between our room, the buffets, the beach and the pools in 3 minutes was amazing. I loved the 6 rows of huts at the beach so you could always find a place in the shade - some of the huts even had a place to charge your phone! . The buffets had a wide variety of fruits and vegetables which we really appreciated. The main lobby area where they have the shops and the large theatres and live bands was pretty impressive. It really is like a small village.The airport in punta Cana is very modern and all our transfers went smoothly. We would definitely come back.

Bahia Principe Grand Bavaro: Nice Resort

We did enjoy getting away and the resort was landscaped beautifully. Our room was nice and there was a trolley to drive us back and forth to the beach and the lobby. Unfortunately we found that a lot of the staff did not speak or understand English very well. I was ill and wanted to see a doctor and it took five different people that I spoke to in regards to finding the dr's office. Either they did not understand me or they did not know where the dr's office was. I would suggest that the  [... read more]staff be more familiarized with some of the surroundings. I am not a good buffet person for eating so it is hard for me to comment too much on the food. Most of the time service was good in the buffet. One particular night though we were put in an "extended room" and there only person trying to looking after the people being sent to that room. He was trying to serve water, take drink orders, empty dirty dishes and change tablecloths by himself for quite awhile. Eventually a couple of other staff members joined him. I commented to him that I thought he was doing a terrific job under the circumstances. The other thing I would mention is the chairs around the pools and beach. There definitely not enought of them. You had to be down to get a chair by 8:00am or you were out of luck. It says that you are not suppose to reserve chairs but I can understand why people did.

Melia Caribe Beach Resort: Beautiful Resort and Fantastic Staff. Would recommend it.

I recently returned from a stay at the Melia Caribe Punta Cana. The Melia is a huge resort that offers many options to its guests. I chose to stay in the area closest to the beach and the pools. This gave me access to the many activities that are provided for guests. Also, the Merkado Restaurant is located right beside the pool. There are many positives to this Resort so I will start with the Restaurants. The Merkado offers International Buffet for all three meals plus snacks in between des [... read more]ignated meal times. The restaurant is well run with highly efficient, pleasant staff and is immaculate. The washroom adjoining the resturant is always spotless which is incredible considering the traffic that goes through there each day. The Casa Nostra Restaurant offers delicious Italian cuisine and extremely efficient service. Certainly worthwhile visiting. Although I didn't have an opportunity to go to Muoi, I heard from several people that it was great. Overall, I found the Resort extremely well kept. Everything was very clean and maintenance staff were constantly making sure the pool area and the beach area along with all the buildings were clean and safe. The cleaning staff for the rooms was excellent, pleasant and helpful with any questions. I had a minor problem with my air conditioner when I first arrived and a maintenance man was at my room within five minutes to resolve the problem. The Activities Staff are superb. I had the pleasure of having Wascar Perez as the instructor for aqua fit and zumba classes. Also, Wascar shows no end of patience while teaching the daily dance lessons and works well with Jaimie Manzuela in demonstrating and encouraging guests to learn or participate in Yoga classes. These are both wonderful young men who are so respectful to their guests. The level of talent in the dance troupe is unbelievable (there is so much local talent and I regret I don't remember all of the names of the dancers). The nightly shows should not be missed. The Artistic Director and Manager of Activities should be congratulated on both the variety and creativity in their choice of shows. Overall, although the grounds are well maintained and the Resort is extremely well run, it is the staff who really makes this a great place to spend a vacation.

Sanctuary Cap Cana Luxury Collection Adults Resort: Awesome resort

The grounds were spotless the food was great, drinks premium and the staff were so friendly only downfall was the room was very musty had to leave the patio door open but then the bugs bit us in the night and they had no port wine.

Playabachata Hotel: Playabachata Resort

Staff great, food excellent, internet terrible ,room fine, grounds fine to many people that smoked. Poor service from Sunwing. Did not explain all the rules at what wr could do at the main Hotel of the 3. 7hour delay leaving with no explaination The one rep. Alexis was very helpful when there.

Excellence El Carmen: Lovely!

Excellence El Carmen is a very well maintained resort with beautiful grounds and very friendly and attentive staff. Nothing was too much trouble. We stayed in a junior swim up suite which was quite nice but if we were to return we would look at booking an ocean front suite away from the entertainment as we found it quite loud in our room at night. A nice variety of restaurants at the resort with good food but some restaurants lacked atmosphere. The absence of single malt scotch at a five star  [... read more]hotel was a surprise. Sunscape Puerto Plata: Great relaxing resort

Our group of four enjoyed our stay at Sunscape very much. The staff were so friendly and courteous, especially the bar staff, not once did they not have a smile. We liked not having to make reservations for the ala cart restaurants, there is a perfect place to have a drink in the lovely DR breeze and grab a great slice of thin crust pizza while we waited for our buzzer to let us know our table was ready. We enjoyed all the food venues, beach lunch was very simple but good. Buffet was very good  [... read more]with plenty of selection, it could use a bit of a spruce up. Rooms were basic, but clean with nice white linens and towels. One down for me, was the amount of smokers all over the resort, it did have no smoking places, but it seemed to flow all around, but I'm sensitive to smoke, smokers would be happy! Nice entry to the pool on the one side with gradual slope, and deeper on the other side. Beautiful beach, that was so nice to walk for miles, water entry very sandy, easy to get in and out. We enjoyed the nightly troupe of entertainers, that worked their hearts out with a 30- 45 minute show to watch after our dinner. All and all we had a very nice vacation.

Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: Second time there and still wonderful

Not sure how some people can complain about this place. This was my second time there and everything was great. Service was outstanding. Food was amazing, always had something different each night in the buffet. The staff were all very friendly and went out of their way to please you. The water is not the crystal clear teal colour, but I am more a pool guy anyway. If you can fly into La Romana airport and save the 90 minutes transfer time versus 20 minutes. For those people who can find faults  [... read more]with the Bouganville maybe you should just stay home.
