Viva V Samana by Wyndham: Where is the "wow"?

I've done some extensive travelling, and I consider myself to be a very easy-going, take-the-good-with-the-bad kind of person. This resort is the first time I've ever been unimpressed. First off, the positives - the grounds (especially the pool area) are gorgeous and very clean. The beach is stunning (although sand fleas are common). And for me...that's about it. Upon entering our room, my first impression was...blah. It's clean, which is great, and had a lovely view of the pool, but honestly, [... read more] it was a very boring design. Just...blah. White walls, no paintings, wooden furniture, and that was about it. The food is horrendous. There are 3 restaurants on site, in addition to the buffet, and we tried 2 of them as I'm not a seafood lover. We left one of the restaurants after waiting an hour for watery, overcooked and unflavourful pasta, and just went to the buffet. The fusion restaurant is decent, but not good. The filet on the menu was possibly the most vile thing I've tried to eat. It seemed more like a super fatty and tough burger patty - I could barely cut it; the table next to us was shocked as well. The people seemed generally unhappy to be there. The beach bartenders were fantastic, and had great personalities, but most of the buffet staff were uninterested in helping. As an example, my friend ordered a cappuccino, to which the server replied, "Really? Are you sure you don't want a regular coffee?" We did always tip, but by the end of the week we were tipping specific servers rather than leaving the bills on our table. And finally...our excursion. We booked a private excursion with Joana (spelling?). The night before, we came to cancel since I was feeling quite ill - with the intention of re-booking (remember, it was a private excursion, so no other guests would be put out). Nobody was at the desk. My friend went down to cancel the next morning, but again, nobody was at the desk. Around noon, we approached Joana to both apologize and re-book, but were met with extreme condescension and rudeness - shaking her head at us, telling us how rude we were for making the taxi wait, etc. I felt like we were being treated like children. She did not offer any condolences ("how are you feeling?" etc) or the opportunity to re-book. So, we didn't go on an excursion at all. Such a disappointment. So, do I recommend this hotel? A resounding NO. Never. Go somewhere else. I just feel like...just be kind to people, you know? Be kind. This hotel...not kind. Avoid.

Secrets Royal Beach: Excellent

We were very happy with the resort at every level. The grounds, accommodations, pool, food and beach all very good. We stayed for 10 days. Would definitely return and probably extend the stay next time. Our booking with TG at Trip Central was great and the travel with Air Transit was also very good.

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Fantastic!

As this was our third time in the last 4 years we will be going back next year. Beech is great, staff is fantastic, plenty of food to eat with different types for all taste, the entertainment crew is great there is always something going on if you want to join in or you can just relax. Place is clean and staff is always ready to help with anything you may require.

Excellence El Carmen: A beautiful location

The hotel is new and modern, a little sterile in its appearance. The rooms and swim up pool are gorgeous, although the hallways are noisy and walls thin to sounds nearby. Staff need to speak quietly in the hallways early in the morning. Their carts need rubber wheels. The meals were good, but not as good as the Excellence in Mujeres Mexico. Staff were happy, most accommodating and delightful at all times. We enjoyed the 9 days and participated in pool, biking and beach entertainment. Main po [... read more]ol was very hot; the swim up pools much cooler. The ocean was perfect. More sailboats would be beneficial for those who enjoy.

Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: Will be back again!

A few great things to note about the trip were excellent food, beautiful beach, and good service! I don't eat gluten or dairy and am allergic to peanuts, but found that I was able to eat a wide variety of delicious food!

Secrets Royal Beach: Very disappointed.

We arrived and had to wait for our room and then prior to getting the key had to sit through a sales pitch for their other locations. After being up 12 hours that was the last thing we wanted to do. The room decor was old and tired and the floor was not well cleaned especially in the toilet area and in the shower stall there was mildew in the corner. Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Everything I expected and more

The hotel and all its amenities was perfect, from the view to the comfort of the bed it was truly a great experience. Perfect distance from the pool, beach, buffet and all other areas on the resort. I will be going back without a doubt! Thank you very much, Sanny.

WE HAD A GREAT TIME AT THIS RESORT ONLY NEGATIVE GOLDEN ROYAL WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY WORST CHECK IN EVER BUT WE HAD A GREAT VACATION HAD TROUBLE FINDING CHAIRS AT THE BEACH TOO MANY PEOPLE BUT ONLY ONE DAY WITHOUT CHAIRS THEN WE WENT EARLY IN THE MORNING SO OVERALL GOOD VACATION AND RESORT

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Great resort.

First time at this resort but we felt comfortable as soon as we checked in. The grounds and the outside facilities were well maintained. The staff were friendly and accommodating. One area of weakness was in the buffet restaurant where the staff often had difficulty in keeping up with the demand for dishes, glasses and cutlery. Overall we enjoyed the resort.

Caribe Deluxe Princess: Great Resort! Great value!

Our first visit to this resort, 3rd to the Dominican Republic. We found the booking very easy and the agents very helpful. The resort offers a lot of things that we didn't expect, like a 24 hour beach bar and snack bar, a fantastic beach you can walk for miles, a bird sanctuary along the walkways, free or inexpensive shuttles for shopping and for a few extra dollars to VIP extras that are well worth it. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the food is very good. The buffet offers enough f [... read more]reshly made items that you don't need the ala carts, but they are worth the night to visit also. Thank you for a great week! The only thing that I found needed a bit of an upgrade was the bed in our room was due for an upgrade and a few more pillows for us. But will visit again.

Melia Punta Cana Beach Wellness Resort Adults: Wonderful resort

The resort is beautiful. We were in building 7, second floor, which is what I had mention Carol to ask for. It was a short walk to the pools and beach but about 7 minutes walk up to the restaurants, we walked up but the golf cart drivers would ask if we wanted a ride. The staff were very helpful and always smiling. The room was great always made up, left coffee and the fridge always stock. Food was great. We like having breakfast at the level adults only A La cart, great service and always [... read more] with a smile. They were always out cleaning the pool and the grounds. The only think was there was a lot of seaweed in the water and on the beach but they were outraking the beach every morning.

Riu Palace Macao: Fantastic Resort

This is our second time at Riu Palace Macao and will go back next year. The properly is very clean, the rooms are very neat and clean. No complaints about the food and THE STAFF ARE VERY VERY FRIENDLY. The group age is between 45 to 75 approximately and maybe a hand full of young adults. The entertainment during the day and night is fantastic.

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Blue Bay Villas

I spent a week at this resort and the pluses: staff tried to be as helpful as they could be, lovely beach, spacious clean rooms, delicious buffet with lots of variety daily. Other restaurants were also very nice, great staff and food, nice break from buffet. I couldn't book the grill, and never did find out where that restaurant was situated, but the Chinese and seafood restaurants both a treat.(although if the staff is enforcing no shorts for men, it would be a plus to also enforce NO HATS!!) C [... read more]lose proximity to airport a plus. Things that need improvement: Wifi not available anywhere without paying. Other resorts along this area all had free wifi in lobbies and in rooms. In 2019 not acceptable to at least have free wifi in lobby. Periodic times with no hot water in shower, 2 mornings in a row. Phone in room didn't work. I reported it, and 4 days later still not fixed, when I needed it to report a violent, drunk patron banging on the next door, I could not contact front desk to dispatch security to area. Beach chairs had to be reserved by 7am to get 6 together, although sign said not to keep chairs when not on beach, you had to save a few before breakfast, as there were not enough for most mornings on the beach. A 3 star overall.

Royalton Hideaway Punta Cana: Great luxury vacation!

My girlfriend and I took this 7 day vacation in late Feb 2019 and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The hideaway is like a boutique hotel inside a resort. Amazing staff, especially the Hideaway beach concierge Francisco and hideaway beach server Leo who both made our trip extra special. They both met us with a smile each morning and took care of us all day making sure we had great spots on the beach and bottomless cold drinks all day (which she makes herself..you have to try her Mojito!). Food [... read more] is great, beach is even better. The hotel rooms and grounds are all meticulously kept. The Dorado restaurant is a great spot only for hideaway guests with very fast and friendly service at all times of day. We would recommend 5/5 and would consider staying here again in the future. The on resort shows and vibe team were alot of fun and the live music at night was great to listen and dance to at night. Its a short drive from the airport which was a bonus.

Majestic Colonial Punta Cana Beach Resort: Second time here, still awesome!

Wonderful resort. This is the second time we've been at the Majestic Punta Cana. Last year we stayed at the Majestic Elegance side and this year we decided to try the Majestic Colonial side. Both are excellent value for the money. Food is good, rooms are good, resort layout and accessibility is excellent, and the staff is courteous and friendly. There's always lots of huts available on the beautiful Bavaro Beach, but if you prefer to lounge by a pool you'll have plenty of choices there as well.  [... read more]We're already planning our return to the Majestic next year. If you've been resort-hopping trying to find your "every-year" vacation destination you should definitely try the Majestic, you won't be disappointed.

Occidental Punta Cana: Beautiful resort

The resort is small so not a lot of walking is required. The grounds are impeccably maintained. The rooms are a nice size with lots of storage space. The beds are comfortable. I loved how each block had an information person that was there to help you. Our information person's name was Louis. He gave us a tour of the resort and answered our questions. The food was good. Lots of choices. The entertainment was ok but I've seen better at other resorts.

Grand Palladium Punta Cana: Love this place!

This was our second time at this resort and we love it! It’s very clean, fantastic rooms, attentive staff, fabulous food, and absolutely gorgeous weather! The ocean, the pools, the free bar! The whole package is just wonderful. ❤️

Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine: Great resort!

It was Beautiful, well maintained grounds, pool was amazing. The staff was always doing something to get people involved. The restaurants were all amazing except for the Brazilian steak house. We read other reviews and we were worried we'd only be able to eat at a couple of the restaurants but we were allowed to eat at all the different restaurants. They did everything to accommodate our needs. They were willing to switch reservations anytime we asked if it was available. And if they couldn [... read more]'t switch the reservation when we asked, they would give us a time to come back to see if we could stitch once the system was updated. We were very pleased. And yes the resort was HUGE which could make for a lot of walking but if you didn't wanna walk you could ask almost anyone to drive you or wait for a "train" which went up and down all 3 roads regularly. The lobby areas would get very quiet at night but if you wanted some night life the village had the disco, casino and karaoke bar which would keep you entertained till 2am if you wanted and then head to the beach bar till 4am if you really wanted to keep going..lol The sports bar was ok, we weren't there often so can't really speak on how that really was. We have been on many vacations and have to say this is the best food we've had in any resort so far. We will be telling people about this place for sure and we will be returning! Oh and I'm not a beach person, I'm a pool person but the beach was beautiful!

Grand Palladium Punta Cana: Very nice resort.

The grounds were spotless, the buildings were spotless. They kept everything nice and tidy. Service was super. All in all, a good place for a vacation. The staff was very friendly and quick to resolve any problems that you encountered in your room.
