Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: GOOD RESORT

Resort needs a facelift. Workers are very nice. Monkey's are the main attraction! Beach - not able to swim here, too rocky and too rough, had to use the pool every day, and we are not pool people. Food is fine, you won't go hungry. We went for the monkeys. We were bored by the 10th day due to no swimming in the ocean. I do recommend this resort, for the monkeys.

Grand Riviera Princess: Had a Great Time

WE liked this resort a lot. The Grounds are kept very well with workers constantly working. The Food was great, we ate A la Carte every night. I wouldn't normally go to a resort this big but we stayed in the Laguna Villas section which had a private pool, bar service and Concierge. The bartender, Pedro and the waitress, Margarita were awesome. They felt like family. We had access tho the Platinum Club section and benefits including a roped off section of the Beach with....you guessed it, private [... read more] bar service. The Beach was great for walking but for swimming was pretty rough. There were lots of rocks in the water and lots of weeds washed up on shore. They did work hard to clear them with a tractor but.... One thing though was when we got checked in we were met by a "Concierge" and he took the time to explain our benefits but also talked us into signing up for a breakfast were we would hear about vacation packages. He took us for a tour of the resort by golf cart. At that point although we had a welcome drink, I just wanted to get out of my jeans and see the beach. Turned out he was wrong about many of our benefits which our concierge, see above, cleared up. Although he seemed to work for/with the hotel, it turns out he works for for Holiday company as well. We canceled our "Breakfast" the next day. We did run into other sales folks and manged to put them off. Other than that it was a fine trip, I might go back but we do like to try different places each trip. Although good value for the money, this was the most we've spent on a trip so far.

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Just amazing!

We've just arrived home from a weeks holiday. What a wonderful week it was! Everything was perfect. The staff, the rooms, the food, the beach, the whole environment was just wonderful. We will definitely return!

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Jungle Gem

Just returned from one week at the Occidental Xcaret. Great room, good food, lots of acres to wander, wonderful staff. No disappointments. Large pools, beautiful lobby and music every evening. This is a great resort for couples or families.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Something To Do For Everyone

This hotel is amazing. It is very large and entails some walking but my husband, who walks with a cane, found that it was okay. There were several restaurants to dine in and the selection was amazing. We really liked the buffets. The staff was very helpful and went out of there way to assist us with anything we needed. Alfredo and Caesar were great waiters and anticipated anything you needed. The buffet had a different theme each day for dinner (ie. Italian, American, etc). They went  [... read more]out of their way to decorate with balloons, etc. On the American day they had cakes decorated like the American and Canadian flag. I was amazed at how well the children behaved. We hardly knew they were there. The parents were very "hands on" and really enjoyed their time with their children. The room was great. There was an elevator in each section. The bed was comfortable. Water pressure was superb. We had a great person looking after our room. There was a line to hang you wet bathing suits out on the balcony which was handy. There was a double decker bus that ran all the time to take the guests to various areas of the resort - Dolphin show, Mini Golf, Mayan Mall (they don't take cash or debit but take credit cards or if you arrange it, you can charge your purchases to your room) The prices at the mall were fair - much cheaper than the airport - and they didn't harass you to buy from them but let you look at your leisure. They also had a water park. The pool was beautiful. The beach was a bit rocky and when we were there it was fairly rough as it was so windy. We went on an excursion to Cozumel Island and that was enjoyable. Our tour guides were Monti, Nicole and Maria. They were great. Monti was really entertaining and certainly knew his history and information about the flora and fauna of the area. He made the trip very interesting and humorous. We saw a Sea Lion Show and visited Crocodiles. Also, had a tequila tasting visit which was enlightening. Part of the trip involved driving a jeep. A lot of fun! We also went to see the Matis Silver factory. Beautiful items and certainly worth visiting. We met people who had been at this resort several times. One man told me that this was his tenth visit. We would go back again, for sure.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Parfait pour les personnes avec allergies alimentaires

Nous revenons d'un séjour d'une semaine au Grand Bahia Principe Coba. Notre fille, qui a de multiples allergies alimentaires a été servie comme une reine par les chef des divers restaurants. Endroit chaleureux, ultra propre et personnel attentionné et très professionnel. Notre cote: 5 étoiles. Tellement satisfaits que nous y retournons l'an prochain.

Breathless Riviera Cancun: Perfect Getaway

This is the best resort I have ever had the pleasure of staying at. So much fun, all top notch amenities great food and the service was absolutely top notch! We simply just did not have enough time within our 7 days to see and do all this amazing resort has to offer next year we are going for 10.

Excellence Riviera Cancun: Wonderful vacation

Just returned from an amazing 10 day vacation at Excellence Riviera. Stunning grounds, everything well kept and immaculate. The staff are amazing and really go the extra mile to ensure you have everything you want to make your vacation perfect. The food is very good with varied food selections in the buffet restaurant for breakfast and lunch or you can have an ocean view and order off the menu if you prefer. There are ten different restaurants to choose from in the evening with something  [... read more]for everyone. Our favourite was the French restaurant with Basmati, the Indian restaurant, a close second. No reservations required. (A big plus for us.) Only a short wait some nights but you are given a pager and can enjoy a drink in the martini bar or the outside entertainment while you wait. Each evening there is a live band playing before dinner followed by main entertainment event and often more live music/dancing afterwards until about 11 pm. Excellence Riviera offers lots of activities if you choose to participate. The gym is well appointed and they even offer fitness classes (included) or personal training for minimal fee. Very impressive. The only downside is that there is lots of seaweed washing up on the beach. Excellence does a great job of removing it in front of the resort but if you like long walks on the beach, the seaweed is an issue as other resorts or private residences don't remove it as well as Excellence. An excellent resort, I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Stunning Resort

upon arriving we were greeted by a stunning Main lobby overseeing the central area of the resort and beach. We were shown the different areas of the resort by a representative which I thought was a nice idea until at the end of our little tour we were given a sales speech on timeshares. After being up early and travelling with two young children that was the last thing I needed to deal with. I had to adamantly put a stop to the pitch so we could get to our room and rest. The room was immacul [... read more]ate and quite comfortable. The shower was nice and roomy. The only issue with the room is there isn't enough drawer space for a family of 4. There were only 4 drawers. A nice sized tv with enough channels for myself and the kids. The kids pools were great to keep them occupied and entertained. All the adult pools were excellent as well. The beach was great with the only issue being the constant washing ashore of the sea weed and sea grass. They did what they could to eliminate that but just dumped it slightly further down the beach. a lot of garbage washed ashore as well and was mixed in with the dumpings and really should of been just trucked off the site completely as it was compounding the issue. We ate at all the restaurants except the Japanese. (kids refused..lol ) All had great service and food to enjoy. The Buffet is also well stocked and enough staff to keep it nice that you didn't have to wait long for any customized meal.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda

We were at this resort early March 2017. We traveled with another couple. My husband has mobility issues and must use a walker/wheelchair for travelling and to get around at the resort. The safety deposit boxes in the rooms are free and so is the WiFi at the resort. The food at the buffet was excellent with a lot of variety. We did go to the Seafood and Steak house al a carts, but did not think they were as good as the buffet. There were 2 buffets to use during the day and one of them be [... read more]comes al a cart in the evening. The service at the bars was sufficient and the people very pleasant. We were in building 5 on the 2nd floor which is no problem because there are elevators in all the buildings. We were close to the beach and the pool area. The rooms were nice and roomy and everything worked. The bathrooms were nice and roomy with large walk in showers, but no safety bars. The bed seemed very hard especially for my husband who is full of arthritis. Also I do have to mention that our pillows stunk, literally they smelled dirty; this was also noticed by the couple we were travelling with. This is a very large resort to get around with a wheelchair/walker. There are shuttles that run daily, but the normal shuttle would not take us to our building, so we would have to walk quite a distance to get to our building. For myself this is not an issue but for my husband it was too far, I could push him in his chair, but that still didn't make it easy. So you could call for a person trolley to take you wherever. The Festival Buffet is closer to the lobby and quite far from our room. That was no problem, but to get back from that Buffet you had to go to the lobby to get a personal trolley to take you back to your room, the lobby is up a huge hill from the buffet. It did not make sense to me to have to push a wheelchair up this very steep hill to get a ride. There should have been a phone at the bus stop area to call for a personal ride; remember the regular shuttle will not take you to building 5. The person with mobility issues has to go further than anyone else to get a ride. We tried telling the driver of the shuttle to phone for us, which he did, but they did not show up. I guess what I am saying is that if you have mobility issues this might be too big for you. All in all the resort is very nice, just too big for us.

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Beautiful Resort

We stayed at this resort from March 2 - 9th. Will keep this review short as you have seen many before this. We had two rooms and no problems with either; great maid and bar service; plenty of hot water and towels, etc. Restaurants all good with the Steakhouse being the best for us. Buffet has great selection and the food was delicious -- no complaints. Bar service at the El Beso pool was quick with no line-ups. We didn't spend much time at the beach however it is very nice with a pool , ba [... read more]r and restaurant...No problems with getting chairs at either the El Beso pool or beach. Staff are super friendly and we had no problems with conversing with them in English. Disregard ALL of the negative reviews; some people may have had minor problems and like to complain but we did not. Check in / out was fast and efficient.... email me with any questions... Barcelo Maya Colonial: Great vacation

Stayed at the Barcelo Maya Colonial from March 2nd till the 9th. Loved the resort and all it had to offer The place was spotless everywhere and the pools were amazing. There is so much to see and do at the resort that there was no reason to leave, unless you wanted to explore the ruins and other things. This place with the five resorts in one is huge, but we managed to visit them all. We even spent time at the palace. Didn't even know we were there as we thought we were still at the Tropical. Th [... read more]ey just run into each other and no one said a word to us as we ate and drank like everyone else. The place was packed so we had a bit harder time finding chairs at the pool but the beach always had lots of chairs. They even had waitresses at the pools and the beach which, was a nice touch and you did not have to wait long for them appear at all. The staff was extremely hard working and very pleasant to deal with I would go back to this resort in a heart beat. It is far and away the best resort we have been to at this price, and we have been to a lot of them all over the Caribbean and Mexico. I cannot rate this 5 stars because the bathrooms are not any better than average and there were a couple of worms on the bathroom floor every morning. Also the pillows were hard as rocks. I rolled up a bath towel for use as a pillow.

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Room to improve

Check in was very slow. Stayed in line for close to 2h. Wifi not free... very desapointed for a 4+ star resort. Ground was beautiful. Room could be renovated. Beach where beautiful but no umbrella, very desapointed. Buffet could be improved but a la carte was amazing. Paided way to much for a 4 days stay.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Great resort- would go back again

The food was great. The resort was large and there were so many things to do such as bowling alley, water park, dolphin attraction. No complaints. Would go again. We didn't bring kids but looked like a great place for kids.

Barcelo Maya Caribe: What an amazing Week!

Amazing beach, such a massive resort that you will always find something to do. We would definitley return to this resort. I reccomend the Caribe or Beach section - super close to everything. We just happened to luck out and get a room 60 steps from the bar / mall. The buffet food could have been better but neither of us got sick once and we always found something to eat. The buffet had over 100 choices each time but most times the food was lukewarm, cold or super dry. To be fair they do ha [... read more]ve a lot of options for hot meal - pasta station, grill station and panini press. I had pasta one day towards the end and a panini and it was so great to have something HOT. All the bartenders were fantastic, service is best at strikers Victor and Alfredo were my favourite :) there was days at the pool bar we were waiting 15-20 mins for a drink but that wasn't a regular thing. I loved the fact this resort is so big! We got lots of exercise walking around . We are planning on returning one day. I got a lot of mosquito bites while at this resort .. make sure to bring spray! Tips : Bring extra sunscreen ! We went through so much - had to buy some from the beach shop $37USD! Tipping does not change the level of service you get which I found odd. We brought $100 USD for tips but it doesnt make the service any quicker. They do appreciate them though and definitely deserve it Eat & pasta station and grill station if you like your food to be hot. Ask for a ground level room and you'll have sun chairs to lounge in! If you want to save money on excursions we took a collectivo (shuttle) to playa del carmen & tulum. Cost us 80 pesos (2 people) you'll need to cross the highway so be careful ! We went and saw the ruins in tulum and 5th Ave in playa del carmen. The whole thing cost us around 380 pesos - about 25 Canadian .. so much better than the over priced tours ! There are a few cenotes across the main entrance of the hotel that are inexpensive . We ran out of time but you can research on a map. Cenote azul and Khi chen? Cenotes.

Ocean Coral Riviera Cancun: Something For Everyone!

Just came back from a great week at Ocean Coral and Turquesa. The room was large and clean. The grounds were so beautiful and very well maintained. A nice variety of food choices - our favorites were the Japanese and the Italian, but the breakfast and lunch buffets were also very good. The service was consistently excellent - we always felt well looked after. If you have children, there's a kids' pool and a special club where you can leave them in capable hands for a day of fun activities.  [... read more]The only down side was the beach. Because it was quite windy, there was a lot of seaweed on the shore and the water was quite rough. Thanks for a great week.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: FANTASTIC RESORT

The Akumal has a wonderful lobby that opens into the pool area and beach in the not too far distance. The staff are exceptionally welcoming and care about your satisfaction on every level. Check-in was easy and friendly, with a ride to our room with our luggage after a sparkling wine welcome. The grounds are just amazingly kept and the work is constant in keeping it that way. Our room was lovely, clean, airy, with a stocked mini fridge that was replenished every day. No complaints about any [... read more]thing and the balcony was private and overlooked gardens. We were just a few minutes walk from the beach, which was where we spent most of our time, under a cabana, watching and listening to the surf, offered drinks whenever we wanted them, and just totally relaxing. The pool bar by the beach was exceptional in its food, drink and friendly service. The adults only pool had an awesome infinity pool overlooking the ocean, with its own bar and restaurant, and cabanas. The main dining room/buffet was varied and extensive and delicious. Everyone loved the breakfast buffet, which was always fresh and accommodated all tastes. Dinner buffet changed every night according to theme and was always delicious and would satisfy even the pickiest eater. Service was A-1. There are several specialty restaurants, and if that interests you, make reservations as soon as possible to ensure the time you prefer. They are amazing. Entertainment was good, usually musical and of course you always have the option to visit one of the other Bahia Principe hotels nearby for their entertainment. We are looking forward to returning as soon as we can. This is a very welcoming, friendly, yet luxurious hotel, with staff and service second to none.

Ocean Coral Riviera Cancun: Great Resort

I really enjoyed the way this resort is layed out.... stretched lengthwise with the beach, two covered thatched walkways on each side of the main areas of the hotel (lobby etc), no one bothered us about time shares. I went with my mom age 70, we enjoyed the buffet and thought the Japanese restaurant was the best. We loved the beds by the pool and got one each day. The towel game is alive at this hotel but we got up early so no problem. The room was nice with a balcony and a partial ocean vie [... read more]w. The only disappointing factor was the beach, lots of seaweed which they leave for ecological reasons but I missed my nice clean beach and clean water to swim! However that did not wreck our time.... we had stormy weather so didn't stay at the beach anyway. We enjoyed dancing by the pool bar in the evenings to live music. Loved Mikes coffee shop/ good expressos! Opens at 8 am, I would've liked 6 or 7, we loved the ease of getting around the resort .... it is beautiful... beautiful old Mexico architecture.... we will be back! I also wished for daily yoga....

Grand Riviera Princess: Great value

Beautiful grounds, many restaurants, and pleasant staff. Kids club had good options for water park, play room, etc. Enjoyed the many pools, especially the swimout option. Food was fair to good overall. Beach was a bit of a far walk, and had many shells / rocks and seaweed, but otherwise nice. Good service with room cleaning and beach towel exchanges. It is a large resort (be ready to walk) but you never feel overcrowded at restaurants to the pools. Really enjoyed this resort, great value  [... read more]for a family vacation.

Iberostar Waves Paraiso del Mar: Best resort !

I loved it, the beach is amazing and it's easy to find a good spot any time of the day. The resort is beautiful the pools are huge. The food is good. I had a great time and I definitely recommend it for singles, couples and families.
