Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Average resort, not an average price.

This resort is average at best. Food and drink are fine, you can what you are looking for but nothing is outstanding. Drinks are poor, and nothing is made fresh. The downside to this resort is the service, no one is really interested in their job unless management is around. For example we would have to ask 3-4 times for coffee/water in the morning. Ramps everywhere. We requested a ground floor room (for the stroller) and that was accommodated. Trollies running all day long. Room service is quick but menu very limited. One positive to this resort are the grounds, perfectly manicured and stunning. Would make nice backdrop for a wedding. The resort is fine but we have travelled extensively so it did not measure up. The weather was perfect and that's why we went.

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Wonderful resort

The Grand Bahia Principe Punta Cana is a huge resort with many different sections. We were at the Esmaralda campus (Adults only) and it was absolutely beautiful. The pool and beach were very close. The room was a great size and the bathroom had a separate shower, tub and double vanity. The hotel and grounds were very clean. The food at the buffets and different a la carte restaurant were fabulous. The service was very good and staff very friendly. There are trolleys to get around one area [... read more] to another. There was a children's area with little water slides and park. It is a great resort for families and couples. I would recommend this resort and would consider returning.

Excellence Punta Cana: We love Excellence Punta Cana!

cThis was our third time at Excellence Punta Cana, which shows how much we love it. The grounds, the service (with the one exception noted below), the beach and the food are 'excellente' as the staff would say. We always choose the Excellence Club option, as we enjoy the benefits we get from that offering. This year, we also decided to upgrade to a Master Suite, so we were looking forward to a larger, better room. We were disappointed, however, in the room we were initially assigned which wa [... read more]s a ground floor room 7005 directly facing the loud swim up bar. Not sure how this room qualifies as an Excellence Club room as it is very far from Building 10 where the EC lounge is and not in a good location. The concierge in EC was able to move us to a second floor ocean front room in Building 10 the next day, so we were happy but this should not have happened, especially since this was our third time there. Also, I was happy to hear that the resort will close this year to renovate the rooms, as they really need it and really aren't five star. For example, the air conditioning was so loud we couldn't sleep with it on, our two sliding doors didn't lock, the mini fridge was totally broken inside, so every time you opened it, stuff would fall out etc. We're looking forward to updated rooms! My one other comment is with respect to 'reserved' tables in a resort where reservations aren't necessary or allowed. We showed up at the Lobster House for dinner at around 8:00 on our last night (we were a party of 4) and all the outside tables were open. Just as we were speaking to the hostess and asking for a table outside, a large group that had obviously had been there before, burst in giving everyone hugs and obviously slipped the main waiter some money and scored a big table outside, while we were told that they were all reserved for 'special dinners'. I didn't give up and pushed for a table outside, explaining that we had arrived before the large party and wanted to eat outside. They eventually accommodated, but the experience was not good. There should be more transparency around how 'reserved tables' for 'special dinners' work. The last thing you want is to have a confrontation just before dinner!

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Massive Resort

We stayed in Amber Green which is an all Adult section. While it is a very large resort we really enjoyed it. The food was great with plenty of choices, the staff were great Raymond on the entertainment team was a blast (heyman). I would recommend the resort to anyone for the Adult section as I can not comment on the other parts of the resort as we stayed in our section for the most part. The resort continues to expand with many different areas and amenities to provide something for everyone, yet maintains the same high level of facilities care and service throughout. The staff are consistently friendly and eager to help.

This is our 4th time here,wouldn't go anywhere else. The food at buffets and alacartes is exceptional, the wine is great,service is great. Beautiful big rooms,clean and a/c always works. The animation staff are great,always get people moving and dancing, they do some crazy fun things at pool. All in all the resort is best bang for your buck. We will definately be going back in coming years.

Thank-you to the entire staff for making my husbands and my experience to Punta Cana just fantastic at the Luxury Bahia Principe Ambar Blue. Words alone cannot describe how great our experience from the initial booking with Trip Central staff and the hotel staff was. Everybody gave 110% service and this resort is our number one go to going forward. Management should be very proud for selecting superb staff with friendliness and outstanding manners. Foyers, washrooms, rooms, landscaping, pool areas were top notch and everybody at this resort should be so proud of themselves for making it such a success. We ate at different buffets every day and different restaurants throughout the week and everybody and everything was AMAZING. Thank-you. We had ten guests initially and we stayed a few extra days by ourselves at the end. Great job everybody! When guests complain on the language problems they were having they need to remember they're in the Dominican Republic and should be grateful that the locals show patience to us the foreigners. Thanks again for just being perfect.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Beautiful resort

Was beautiful,.would highly recommend this resort The pool and the rooms were decorated very nicely. The hotel staff was very friendly and very accommodating. The housekeeper was extremely friendly and always available. She did an amazing job with our upkeep of our room!!👌🏻

Royalton Punta Cana Resort: Amazing Resort

Here for a wedding. Wonderful location, great beach, clean room, friendly & helpful staff. Restaurants were amazing, especially the Japanese Restaurant. Too bad the Michael Jackson tribute was only on the Saturday night when we arrived...only got to see the last few minutes of the show. Special shout out for Luis Enrique Cabrera - beach location. Had our lounges ready & waiting for us after breakfast. Riu Republica: Great Adult Resort

We were pleasantly surprised with this resort as there were many negative reviews on this resort. Well don't pay attention to these reviews as the resort is great. Food lots of options in the buffet no one will go hungry. Loved the variety and theme nights. The three restaurants are good as well and no reservations required. We loved the patio in the buffet section. Rooms were clean and bed was comfortable. Great shower. I would recommend that you bring a night light if you need light as th [... read more]e glass panel in the shower doesn't allow you to keep the bathroom light on. As we like the beach we didn't use the pools however people that we spoke to liked the pools. No need to get up early to reserve chairs. There are tons on loungers in the beach and pool areas. We enjoyed drinks In The lobby after dinner and found the quality of drinks pretty good. We will definitely return to this resort.

Riu Republica: Amazing Resport

The resort was well laid out and all restaurants and shopping were easy to access. There was never a shortage of chairs on the beach and the pools looked amazing. The grounds were always being cleaned and the rooms were a good size with a shower big enough for at least 2. It was nice to be able to go to the a la carte restaurants without having to book a reservation. All in all, I would definitely return to this resort.

Nickelodeon Hotel Punta Cana: Great resort

We travelled with our daughter, son in law and two grandchildren (2 and 4). This is a beautiful resort. Very clean and friendly staff. Food was much better than we expected - which was a nice surprise. The kid's entertainment was great and they enjoyed the water park, ball pit and characters.

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Barcelo Bavaro Palace - better last year

We enjoyed this resort last year and decided to return again only to discover that several things had gone downhill since then. Our first criteria when going down south is a great beach and this one definitely has it. There was never a problem getting chairs at the beach and the Barcelo chain keeps the beach natural with lots of shade from palm trees as opposed to man made palapas. The beach itself goes on for miles and although there was a bit of seaweed at this time of year they are constantly [... read more] cleaning it up daily. The grounds are beautiful and very well kept. We stayed in a junior suite in the 4000 block which is very convenient to the beach and main buffet. The rooms are nice and large with a hot tub on the balcony which we didn't use. The cheaper rooms are quite a distance from everything but would probably be convenient if you were a golfer. I would recommend a room that is not on the ground floor to avoid any insect or humidity issues. The main difference we found from last year was that the service level was lacking. The hotel was less crowded but the service was very slow or non-existent in some cases, particularly at the buffets. This was by no means a fault of the staff who work very hard but the fact that they seemed to be very understaffed this year. Compared to the Barcelo Palace in the Mayan Riviera (we were there 2 years ago) it was like night and day with regards to the level of service . We were able to get a la carte dinners every night which was a bonus, normally I believe you are only allowed 4 per week. The favorite in our opinion was Las Brisas in the adults only section and La Fuente (Spanish). The steak and seafood were ok, Italian not very good but the worst part of the latter three was the ambiance. I can accept the "cafeteria" look in the buffet but not sure why it would be the same in the a la carte restaurants. No one feels special eating dinner in sheet lighting. The food at the buffets is especially good at breakfast, pastries and breads are to die for. I wish I could remember the man's name at the omelette station - he was awesome. We are not huge liquor drinkers although enjoyed some wonderful cocktails at the Carey bar but were greatly disappointed with the house wines in the a la cartes. We are by no means wine snobs but both the red and white house wines were basically not drinkable. It looked to us like most people were ordering bottles of wine in the restaurants, probably costing at least $60.00 a bottle. I feel that for the price we paid for a 5 star resort we should be able to have a decent house wine. Again, this was much worse than last year. Compared to last year the wifi was terrible. We paid $45.00 US for the week, reported twice that it wasn't working. My husband tried to send an email once that took over 2 hours. If you have to rely on the internet I would not recommend going here. Upon checkout we discussed this with the reception who said that he would contact us but I am doubting that we will ever hear back from them. Last year we found the clientele to be mostly Spanish which is understandable since this is a Spanish chain. No problem with that. This year the resort was overrun with Russians who I imagine believe they are superior to everyone else based on how rude they were. The bartenders are so busy and work so hard that they cannot be expected to keep track of who is next in line for a drink - that should be up to the patrons. I cannot count the number of times that a Russian shoved himself in front of me to order a drink. I read a number of reviews that had the same complaint. If the resort is offering some sort of discount that is attracting Russians they may want to re-think that strategy. Overall we had a nice vacation but based on some of the things we experienced this year it is unlikely that we would return unless some of these issues are addressed.

Royalton Punta Cana Resort: Royalton

Resort was great, food was amazing, the buffet for lunch and dinner was surprisingly good. Pool and Beach were very nice. Only complaint was that it was frustrating trying to get a crib and milk for our 1 year old.

Grand Sirenis Punta Cana Resort: Old resort

Grounds and public areas were good but the rooms at least the bath room was HORRIBLE. Many times the keys to open da door not work the rooms did not have umbrella. The aqua park yes so beautiful so good to the kids really the worst was the room, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Awesome Trip

The hotel and trip easily exceeded our expectations! considering it was our first trip together, it couldn't have went smoother! Laura, our travel agent was a big help! Jamaica was awesome! the room view was amazing, it left us awe struck, we didn't expect to have a terrace!

Grand Bavaro Princess: The resort was amazing

Everything about the resort was exceptionally clean.....rooms, restaurant, grounds, pool area, etc... the only down side was the foil smell coming from what we believe was the septic system outside our rooms! This was more pronounced after a rain fall.

Grand Palladium Punta Cana: Amazing resort

It's a great resort. A little bit like paradise. A lot of different restaurants with great menu's. Less to complain about. If they try to fix the issue immediately. Sometimes a bit unorganized but I think that's Dominican Republic lol.
