Club Kawama: Club Kawama
The resort may have been nice 20 years ago. Currently it is very run down. The furniture is over 20 years old, curtains on windows did not cover the window. The air conditioning in many of the rooms does not work; the room I was initially given AC didn't work. Had to get another room and wait approximately 3-5 hours for it. There was only 1 restaurant open, so very little choice for meals. Other restaurant that was open required reservations, and was not much better in terms of quality of food. [... read more]
Club Kawama: Disappointing resort
This hotel has so few amenities I was shocked. The staff always seemed inconvenienced when you ask for help or outright annoyed. Major issues with room on a daily basis. One day no water for over an hour, another no electricity. Rooms not cleaned daily, only beds made and towels. Good was average. Buffett always running out of clean glasses or hot Buffett selections sat empty and many were unmarked with mystery food in them. Best part about the place was the beach.
Roc Barlovento: Ok hotel - but had a good time
When you have stayed at really nice resorts the bar gets raised, and unfortunately every other vacation gets measured up against the best you've had. With that having been said, this resort didn't come to close to being one of the better ones , however we did in the end make the best of it and actually had pretty good time. If it hadn't been so close to the town of Veradero I think it would have been otherwise. The room was a little tired but clean, and it looks like they are working on upgradin [... read more]
Club Karey: Great Place to Stay!
The hotel is clean, however, make sure you bring pillows, they only provide one per bed. The staff are helpful, amazing and super friendly. Beach front location it's wonderful! The food, the pool, the activities, all made for an amazing holiday. Close to markets and great sites to see.
Roc Barlovento: Decent food and friendly environment!
Location of this resort is fantastic - it's easy walk to markets, the downtown and the hop on and off bus. The food was quite good and no complaints overall. The pools and the beach are well maintained and clean. Rooms are dated but in the process of being renewed. Having been to other resorts, we came here not expecting too much, but were very pleasantly surprised, and might actually come again.
Club Karey: Simple. Basic
It is a simple 2 stars hotel. You'll get what you paid. Not a gourmet experience. Quiet and peaceful. People at service is nice. Beach is ok and offers snorkelling a few feet from shore. You can also do basic fishing.
Club Amigo Ancon: Big resort
Negative: public beach, many domestic people, making noise. Poor entertiment, every day the same. So far from airport. CUC so hi exchange rate. Seafood restaurant has no sea food. Service frendly, but slow.
Occidental Arenas Blancas: Very disappointed.
Hotel is very run down. We were on the third floor. Was not clean. The doors are very dirty and falling apart. The grounds were o'k. The pools are beautiful well kept. We were supposed to get a superior ocean view room, did not get it. Got one overlooking pool. The sheets on bed were very dirty when we arrived. The room maids need to go through retraining for cleaning.Dust was thick on headboard.I could go on and on. Took pictures. Rating was mostly for cleanliness of third floor and for hotel be [... read more]
Club Kawama: Club Kawama
Well TripCentral is not what I thought about this year because of being scared to do any vacation that wasn't in my area in person. Well you know it was the best experience that I have had out of any of my 6 vacations. They made you feel like they cared not just to get your money. Everyday they contacted me through the computer to see if I had remembered anything and made me feel like I was special. They also made sure that I knew they were there through my whole vacation if something went wrong [... read more]
Occidental Arenas Blancas: Reasonable for the price
Location. Awesome, fantastic beach and water. Short ride to the airport Rooms. Good size. Needs a coat of paint. Only 1 small towel provided in the room, not changed daily. The smell of smoke in the rooms comes from the bedding. The housekeeping staff smoke in the room where the clean laundry is kept. This needs to change! Food. Good selection, could always find something to eat. A La Carte restaurants available, not a big choice at them but food good. Drinks. lots of choice of liquor, but no bl [... read more]
Roc Barlovento: had good time 10 night stay
grounds, pool very nice and kept clean, beach amazing spent most time there. food fair, we ate out often as walking distance to restaurants, rooms very standard we had renovated room, deck very small could not sit out on deck which was a negative room 247 quiet facing gardens which was bonus. Staff friendly, Cuban people very nice and felt very safe out at night. Drinks w/alcohol pretty good, got tired of pina coladas, and other frozen drinks. Like Crystal beer can buy at resort store $1 peso. T [... read more]
Club Kawama: good affodable resort
The staff was very friendly, the food was above what I was expecting, the beach awesome & the entertainment excellent. The room was passible for a 3 1/2 star resort. The only problem we had was that the air conditioning broke & we had to change room. Will be going back next year.
Hotel Internacional: Would never go again
This hotel did not appear to be able to handle the number of guests that it had, Ran out of dinner plates, towels. cutlery etc. Beds were only changed twice in our 8 day stay staff were only friendly and helpful if you were passing the peso.none of our requests made well ahead of time were honoured. Beach was beautiful although there were no toilets anywhere near the beach.
Roc Barlovento: great place
the food was good .the room was clean . good location will go back service was good the pools where clean the only thing was bad is the checkout time which is 12noon and we didnt leave till 5 in the moming we had no where to go till then
Occidental Arenas Blancas: Good Resort
The thought the Hotel and Resort was generally clean and well kept. The food was decent and the staff were helpful. By day 3 of our vacay I knew what were my favs at the buffet. The beach was nice and clean. There could be more beach loungers though. I would suggest that there be more in the way of activities during the day.
Occidental Arenas Blancas: Fabulous trip!!
What a beautiful resort! The rooms were clean and the staff friendly and helpful. The beaches were fabulous and the water gorgeous. The only concern I had was with the food; while there was a lot of it, the menu was repetitive and a little on the bland side. I really appreciated the proximity of this resort to downtown Varadero. It was a nice walk into town for shopping and touring. All in all....a memorable vacation!
Occidental Arenas Blancas: Great airline and resort
Sun wing airline was 40 min early there and back. Everything went very well the resort had good entertainment and food was ok. Staff was mostly very friendly some kept repeating was there birthday every night
Club Kawama: 3rd time
This was our 3rd tme to this resort and all I can say is it is going down hill!!We use to walk in and see friendly faces and now all you see are unhappy faces and there isn't a friendly face around. We heard more people complaining then ever before. Some days we had no electricity and some days no water. Did they care not in the least!!!! We use to love going to this resort but we will never return. One day we even had a flood in the room but no one even cared or even made an effort to correct t [... read more]
Occidental Arenas Blancas: Nice resort but needs updating
We stayed at the Arenas Blancas from the 26th February to the 5th of March. The resort was nice but definitely needs some updating. The room that we stayed in was a superior room that needed a facelift. Specially the washroom. The control for the air conditioning was missing but it did work throughout our entire stay. The grounds of the hotel was well maintained and clean. Most of the staff were friendly and were very accommodating. Specially Lazaro from the dining room who always took care of [... read more]
Occidental Arenas Blancas: Not really a 4-star but still lots of fun
We had a great time at Arenas Blancas, though I wouldn't call this a 4-star. It was a little rough around the edges (needed a coat of paint and some plaster and some basic repairs). We had one of the newly renovated rooms and although the bathroom needed a little TLC and there was sometimes no hot water (just luke warm), the room itself was spacious, clean, comfortable and very nice. The mini bar was stocked every day. The maid service was great, though they ran out of towels a few times. C'est [... read more]
