Sol Caribe Beach: Great resort

We went to Sol Caribe for Christmas. The resort is small and cozy, great for family vacation.Food was good, lots of variety. “Salt and pepper” restaurant was really good. The rest al carte not worth to go, same food at the buffet. They have 2 buffet for lunch, one is really close to the beach which was great and very convenient .Rooms are really nice, very clean and well organized, lots of cabinets , bathroom with nice big shower , comfy beds. No Michael Jackson or Queen show.

Sol Caribe Beach: Good Resort

Very nice resort in Varadero. I was nicely surprised with this resort. Lots of food and drinks. Lots of international drinks which I did not expect. Salt and pepper a la cart was great. Would recommend to anyone going there. Beach was great. No seaweed like other resorts I have been at. If you are looking for entertainment and shows, not the resort. Didn’t have much going on. Great people as always.

Sol Caribe Beach: Really Nice Experience

We visited Sol Caribe the week before Christmas as a family of 5. The beach is stunning and there were plenty of chairs available with a nearby beach bar. The weather was better later in the week but overall sunny and warm. The rooms are clean, updated and fairly big. The resort had two nice pools, and a few bars around. We did a day trip through Nexus to Havana which was fun. The best part - the staff at the resort. So friendly, great with kids, just awesome. Overall, this resort is great for an easy vacation and delivers on all the basics without a ton of bells and whistles.

Melia Peninsula Varadero: Shocking

We were shocked to see so many things wrong with this hotel. Where do i start? I will write in point format: - Was surprised that food was good. Especially ice cream. - Beach is amazing - Staff are friendly - No animation for kids (Animation team is siting and smoking next to the pool) When i asked why they are not playing sports with guests, they told me that they have no ball. ;( - Rooms are very old and not renovated. - Safe in room broken - Cleaning was fast and efficient, bu [... read more]t bed sheets unchanged all week - Door lock on room door was broken - The Gym has some good equipment, but sauna is in bad shape. - A la carte restaurant puts tap water into water bottles they serve. We all got sick on our last day. I later saw how they fill water into the water bottles. - Front desk employees look surprised and seem like they are there as a favor. Generally speaking, this hotel is far from 5 stars even by Cuban measurements. 3 Cuban stars at most.

Melia Cayo Coco: Great Service

Hotel still spotless Only change since last year is food issues. Food variety has diminished. Staff say it's an issue all over Cuba It's a supply problem. Al a carte restaurants down from 3 to one. Delicious but less variety.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Melia Jardines, Cayo Coco.

The beach, the beach bar staff , the pool and pool bar staff were great as usual. No hot water for the entire trip. No white wine, no cola short some other things. Its been a year now like this. Especially frustrating when a utuber aquaintance at a neighboring resort says they had everything. I'm going to start looking for other options. as well, they assured me the pool wi fi was fixed and running whereas actually it had been removed.

Sol Caribe Beach: Disappointing

The Sol Caribe is clean and well maintained. The staff is polite and helpful. The rooms are clean and spacious. However, the food was disappointing. No variety - the same pork and fish every day. The food was cold. No cheese, no chicken, no Fanta, no french fries at the snack bar. Even the bars did not offer the same drinks. Not on our list to return.

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Excellent vacation

This week just came back from 7 days in this resort. Everything was just excellent! From the very beginning: very skillful bus driver, then great experience and followup help of check-in and welcoming, very high quality service and fantastically pleasant stay! It is one of Cuban pearls definitely! The people are very friendly and personnel does just amazing job! Many thanks to all of the staff! Fantastic management! Not mentioning here some food shortages so many times mentioned in other com [... read more]ments; the situation in and around Cuba as well as the position of Cuba is well known and respected. In given circumstances Cubans and this resort do everything possible and even more than that. On the last UN general assembly only two countries voted against and one abstained on resolution condemning the illegal economic and trade embargo against Cuba imposed by the US in 1960. A total of 187 States voted for the resolution put forward each year against the embargo. UN General Assembly calls for US to end Cuba embargo. The food and drinks are of absolutely highest quality given the initial resources and the circumstances. So, it is great, healthy and very tasty, refreshing and energizing, well made with love and care. (Those whining about food etc. should go to Turks and Caicos all-inclusives or Florida ones and see what they will get there and for what price, let’s be honest :) ) Great and many thanks to all the people of this place and resort!

Sol Caribe Beach: Front desk staff made this review LOW

The Beach was great. The food was very good. The bar staff are fantastic. The coffee bar was a great experience. Maid service was great. The front desk staff not up to par. The room I reserved was supposed to be 2 beds. They gave me a 1 bed room. I had 2 Teenagers' with me. When we asked if could get the room we booked, they rolled their eyes. We had to take what they gave us. The Wifii was no good at all. A lady infront of me was asking about the Wiifii. The front desk girl out-and-o [... read more]ut lied to her. Front desk said Wiifii was fine. Everyone else in hotel was good. Front desk told the lady her cell phone was the problem. We had a maintenance door above our room banging all night. (It was a windy week). For 3 days we asked that it be closed. Front desk said, "All I can do is write it down" Took 4 tries to get a beach towel. Then we were never able to trade it in for clean ones.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Good resort, but not amazing

Swimming pool and beach are very good .food adjust like 4 star hotel. Room is big， But the drain in the bathroom of my room was clogged, so I moved to another room, and the drain in the sink was clogged, but they fixed it later.

Sol Caribe Beach: Ok

Check in was total chaos..we were a group of 17 and had only 1 person at counter.. food was good beach was good rooms clean..provided bus for us but weren’t going to let me on way back to airport..somehow I wasn’t on their list..no idea why..

Tryp Cayo Coco: Amazing place

Tryp was exactly what I needed! I had no idea what to expect and I was overwhelmed by the friendliest staff who went out of their way to make sure our stay was excellent and comfortable. So much food and a very wide variety. Chefs prepared such amazing meals for us and the wait staff, bartenders made sure we never went without. Pool was beautiful and so clean with the ocean just over the bridge.

Melia Cayo Santa Maria: Wonderful Family Resort

As usual, the Melia Cayo Santa Maria provided us with another wonderful vacation. Friendly staff, great a la Carte dinners which were easy to book, a sparkling clean pool, and a beautifully maintained beach were some of the highlights of this smaller family resort.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: 10th Anniversary at Paradisus

We came here on our honeymoon and wanted to return on our 10th to celebrate. We weren't disappointed. The resort is absolutely lovely, very natural, no plastic palm trees here. Even the expansive lobby is gorgeous. The resort is in a nature preserve area so everything is beautiful. The resort itself is not enormous, which is nice; you can get around without having to hop on a bus to get to dinner (like at some mega-resorts) and you actually have the opportunity to meet people if you choose. T [... read more]his time, like last time, we found ourselves amongst a group of folks who were just wonderful, and we spent a lot of time at the pool and lobby bars with them, but if you don't feel like socializing, no big deal. We got a Junior Suite, which is one of the little bungalows that house two rooms. These rooms are nice, with an outdoor shower (love 'em) and chairs out back in a little "yard" where we reclined and watched the stars one night (no mosquitos there somehow!) There's bottled water and beer in the fridge for ya; the cleaning staff did a wonderful job. We had a few minor issues - our door lock didn't work, but they had it repaired as quickly as they could. This isn't even really a negative for me. It's the real world; s**t happens. Don't feel like it reflects on the Rio de Oro. The staff are remarkably friendly and warm; if it's an act, they're all very good at it (read: I don't think it's an act, for most). The entertainment is excellent, especially the live Cuban bands. There's a lot of live music here, which is amazing. People were helpful and gracious and sincerely thankful when tipped, and never felt like tipping was necessary for being well-treated by staff. That said, tip, and bring needed goods, for the love of all that is holy. Folks need it. Some folks may not love the beach, because they want one of those miles-long white sand beaches in all the brochures. The Rio de Oro's beach has been eroded naturally over the years so it's a big shorter, and there's coral and rocks. For us, none of this was a problem at all. It's a gorgeous ocean and there's sun, what more do you need? The pool is great as well. It wasn't overly crowded the week we went so we had no problems getting chairs and spots at either. We were here to rest, so we didn't do any off-site excursions but by all reports from friends, they were great (snorkeling, driving Jeeps, beach lunches, etc). Food is a big complaint when people talk about Cuba but food in the Holguin area is generally pretty solid. We were happy with every meal we had. Cuba's fuel shortages and other challenges, including the ridiculously long-lasting US embargo, have meant that it's hard to get, well, things in general, so you have to be forgiving of that (and if you're not, why are you in Cuba?). So one day they might not have something at the buffet; the next day, they have it. The first hamburger I had was pretty bare-bones but tasty; the second was loaded up and also tasty. The chefs here always made due with what they had and it was always good. The food at the buffet was always good especially the omelette station at breakfast. The a la carte restaurants were all excellent, and they threw in an extra reservation for us because the resort wasn't packed. Even the wines were pretty great. The Rio de Oro is several decades old. There's a few signs of wear and tear, but there's also signs of constant improvement, despite economic and social issues in the country. They re-roofed the beach restaurant while we were there, and were doing all kinds of other work. None of it was distracting or problematic; when they closed the beach restaurant they replaced it with a beachside barbecue which, honestly, was fantastic. Talking briefly with the (newish) General Manager, they are working to update the place one step at a time. Not to sound too spacey or abstract...but this place just gives me good vibes. It feels good. It's quiet, friendly, and lovely. We'll be back agian.

Melia Cayo Santa Maria: Awesome Beach!

If spending hours in the azure water, going for long walks along a pristine beach is what you're looking for, then you'll definitely love this place. The resourt is great, the staff is friendly, the nature is unspoiled. The only minor problem I personally had is the lack of fresh green vegetables, but this would be the same in any place in Cuba. The meats, fish and seafood is plentiful though, so nobody goes hungry.

Melia Peninsula Varadero: Great Resort

Ground is beautiful ( need more light in the night) Service was great in the dining room area Staff are friendly Rooms are clean but outdated . The snack bar staff were great Atmosphere was very quiet . The accessibility room was lacking thoughts It had enough room for regular showers + the seating hand held shower Not enough bars to hold on for the elderly. Overall it was a great week and a great place .

Melia Cayo Coco: Amazing resort!

Had a wonderful time, food was pleasant not as they say about Cuba food. Staff was great we didn't get the staff to ask for money or our belongings like in other hotels that we have gone to. Beach was beautiful, and sandy.

Melia Las Antillas: GREAT

This was wonderful. Food was repetitive but GOOD. Restaurants on the resort were GREAT. the rooms are outdated but large and the grounds are beautiful! Perfect if you love enjoying the beach and pool.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Hotel Review

This is the second time I have stayed at this hotel. The staff are always friendly and polite and ready to help. On this trip, we had a junior suite on the second floor in building #4. It was spacious and had most of the amenities needed with the exception of a few things. First, the air conditioner was not working. Second, the shower did not function properly (just a drizzle), and there was no plug for the bathtub. Overall, the grounds of this hotel were lovely and well-maintained. The pools were clean and staff ready to help in any way. The beach was lovely and staff made themselves available to help you if needed by moving chairs, offering drinks, or providing information on beach activities. The a la carte restaurants provided an relaxing experience and portions were acceptable. Evening performances were fun and varied.

Melia Jardines del Rey: return guests

After 4 long yrs ,i finally got back to Cayo Coco. beautiful island ,The quick vacation to unwind and enjoy sea & sand. Jardine Del Rey is one of my favorite places.I have stayed at several hotels on the island. The thing that keeps me returning is the customer service.The staff is attentive,kind and welcoming. The resort is large and beach is long and plenty of room ,to roam ,and walk for a mile,in each direction. plenty of sun huts. Lobby is large and plenty of area to sit.. A bar as well as a coffee specialites. The food is a hit & miss....i had fresh eggs and bacon each morning,fresh bread there as well was ,fruits, cheese & 3 sliced kind of meats ...pancakes,and omelets to be ordered. as well as smoothies of many chose of fruits and dry cereals and patries ..... there was as well alot of other items that i was not familiar with in the buffet? Lunch and supper pretty much the same,vegtables were not a great variety. but there was lettuce,cucumbers and pasta salad and grill station you could order chicken ,pork or fish fillets ,or pasta dishes .and again great assortment of cheeses and 3 kinds of sliced meats. I was satisfied but as well disappointed as there was so shrimp, lobster served in any of the a la carte, ( my son was at this hotel in October and the food selection was excellent ,shrimp, lobster,and even sushi..... seems to be a storage and demand issues with the food.. but again I do not travel to Cuba to expect Cruise ship menu...I ate well and ate more than I do at home..Never been ill from any of my trips to this resorts. Prenty of red wine,beer on tap,and rum drinks..I did notice that they were serving a sparking white wine ,champagne,,and not a dry white wine. there was no variety of soda ,just cola ,not the fanta or ginger ale or sprite .and the juices were all a powder mix, the mini bar was refilled each day with only 1 beer,,,and odd because there is always at least 2 guests to a room ,left a note for 2 but again only 1 was left .,if you needed more water bottles left in your room you had to ask for it .again no problem . our room was kept very clean each day,plenty of towels and hot water .. 24 hrs snack bar seem to run out of food ..and no great variety..the kids just wanted french fries and no luck .. The after hours 11-2 am)party life was a hit with out young group of 20 yr olds .they enjoyed themselves as well missed breakfast every morning,! to each its own! i would recommend this resort but if food is your top priority..you might be disappointmented, but the beach ,the staff is worth it ..in my opinion ..Cuba is not an expensive vacation ,you want top notch ,you choose Turks & Ciro ,or Aruba or other high price vacation . Life is full of choices .
