The Eurostars Grand Cayacoa: Pictures do not do justice! Amazing Staff!

What a beautiful place to spend our vacation. The scenery is picturesque. It is so nice to visit an area that is not over-commercialized with massive hotels side by side. The hotel was in immaculate condition and the staff would stop at nothing to deliver guests a fantastic experience. The ocean water was so warm and because you're in a bay there was no fear of large waves when kayaking or with small children. The food was fresh and there was enough variety for everyone. It is hard to find a com [... read more]plaint except to say the wifi was "free" meaning 1 hour a day and it was very spotty. We purchased an hour for the week so we could have access in our room. The service was slightly better with that option.

The Eurostars Grand Cayacoa: Great Vacation

We visited April 16 to 23. If you want to laugh, relax, have a drink and meet great new friends, this resort may be for you. This without a doubt is the best vacation we have ever been on. Yes, the resort is clean and bright. The rooms are spotless and fresh. The pools are refreshing and clean. The food is excellent, especially the buffet. Miguel, my boy, is the sweetest, kindest young man and one helluva a dancer. To our girls, Esther, Kathryn, Rosi, Anyori and Carolin; thank you for for making us laugh, put up with my bad dancing and treating us like family. A special shout out to sweet Alba, Brenda and Mercedes in the buffet. We will miss you all! The one minus, was the last day. A large group from Newfoundland came in and getting service at the pool bar was near impossible. It may have more to do with the attitude of our Canadian cousins from the east. Some made it very clear they were taking over the resort. That's not the Canadian way. Dinner at the seafood restaurant was underwhelming. We had dinner with another couple and they kept mixing up our orders. We were never offered an after dinner drink, but all the tables around us were. We were only offered coffee when we got up to leave. That coupled with a 25 minute wait for the shuttle despite asking several times was disappointing. We will put these experiences down to training and supervision and not allow it to ruin all the wonderful experiences at this great resort. The new friendships we made were wonderful and we hope are lasting. We are looking forward to returning next year.

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: The El Portillo is a wonderful resort .

The grounds are extremely well manicured with a crew working diligently each day. Our room was cleaned each day with fresh towels and wash clothes., daily maid service was appreciated. The food in the buffet was well prepared and displayed with a flair. A hostess greeted us, found us a table and a waiter poured tea or coffee. The restaurants that required a reservation were a step up in the culinary world. Very positive comments from other guests who even enjoyed wine service during their meal.  [... read more]There was only a short wait at the beach bars, and the beach restaurant brought drinks to your table. Evening entertainment was quite appropriate for the guests who enjoyed a drink in the evening air. .We enjoyed our swims in the ocean but did not use the pool. The Doctor at the medical clinic tended professionally to our needs and even arranged for the taxi to transport us to the hospital in town. where we were taken care of very efficiently.

From start to finish a terrific experience!! Staff were very attentive and friendly. Gorgeous view of the cove from our room. The coffee terrace overlooking the marina and town was a great spot to relax before dinner. Highly recommended!

Staff were helpful, polite, and always smiling. Resort was spotlessly clean. Rooms a little small but lovely new bathrooms and very clean and comfortable. Food was amazing, infact since there were four of with different food likes and dislikes we only went to one elacart ( which was great) as the buffet was great for all of us. Lots of little places to sit both inside and outside to have a drink in the evening. All in all we hope to return there again.

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: very peaceful

Beautiful and very clean resort. The staff were very friendly. Beautiful beach that you could walk on for miles. The a la carte restaurant was very good and the buffet had decent food. The pools were small but i prefer the beach anyway. The only thing about the beach is that the chairs are all pack together so you had to be on the beach very early to get a good spot.

Very pleased with the beauty of this well kept resort. Th staff were very friendly, particularly the animation team and bar tending staff. The beach was amazing and not too crowed to enjoy. All amenities were in close proximity and easy to access. There were many lovely seating areas inside and out, and in the sun or shade. It helped to make the resort feel uncrowned. The atmosphere was one of relaxation and calm.....great place for a getaway in a beautiful lush setting. My only complaint was regarding the restaurant staff. We often had to wait to get beverages with meals...sometimes seeming to be forgotten in the rush. I am not sure if this was due to the staff alone or a shortage of staff for this job. I have been to other Bahia resorts and there seemed to be more staff to attend to your needs during meal time. The pool is small so be warned if you don't like the beach. Although I would encourage the guests to snorkel right off the beach around the coral which hosts a vast number of beautiful fish. You don't even have to leave the resort for a snorkelling excursion!

Standard rooms are typical, suits are very nice( upgrade worth the extra) Overall the hotel and grounds are kept very clean( always staff cleaning) Food good variety and tasty at buffet. Brazil restaurant is a must...excellent

The rooms in the Golden club are spacious and nice. The beach is amazing with the water nice and clear. The pool is small but the beach makes up for it. Restaurants are nice and so is the buffet. Enjoy the crepes lady in the buffet every night.

Hotel was very clean, staff friendly, beach and pool amazing. Room was well appointed and included an air conditioner. Food was okay with mostly buffet style food; catering to many individuals tastes. More of an adult resort than for kids.

Wyndham Alltra Samana: Do not stay here

Horrible old hotel, paint on walls bubbling, cockroaches, showers didn't work and air conditioning never worked either. Grounds were dirty and garbage was everywhere, no pride in the resort, the only nice thing on the resort was the beach, it was beautiful

I'll get the good stuff up front. The beach is beautiful. The food was excellent. The room left a lot to be desired. Outdated furniture lumpy mattresses and stains on the ceiling and walls. Patio door didn't lock. The air conditioning did not work. When I complained they said they would fix it. They didn't. When I went back to tell them it still didn't work I was told it was fixed. We absolutely loved this resort and would go back in a heartbeat. It was beautiful in all aspects. It was clean and we experienced no issues with things not working in our room. Small, quiet and relaxing!! It was exactly what we were looking for. Great food, excellent service and spacious rooms overlooking the ocean. A la carte restaurants and buffet offered delicious food!! Entertainment was limited but good enough for us.

Very clean beautiful location and view. Only complaint was the $50.00 gift card offered by Tripe central. It was useless everywhere we went. We thought we could use it at resort but that was not the case.

Cayo Levantado Resort: Extraordinary Solitude

The property is extensive and the individual villas have large rooms with a balcony. The rooms are quiet and very clean. Room service and Porter service was prompt and efficient. The buffet-style restaurant [Orquídea Restaurant] has an extensive menu for any preferential style of appetite. The Rodizio Restaurant is also open for breakfast and has an open air appeal with a view to the pool. The morning breakfast comes with less choice than the main Orquídea Restaurant, but it provides for a mor [... read more]e relaxed and quiet indulgence. There are scheduled activities all day and the evening entertainment begins at 9:30 every night. The 70's 80's night was especially successful because everyone was dancing that night. The beach is all sand and it requires a elevator ride to the pool area. The beach luncheon buffet was extraordinary with salads and an "american-style" buffet including burgers, fries and hot dogs. There are several options for whale watching in February and all activities are included with the exception of excursions. We never left the island and the "public beach" has local artifacts for sale if you're looking for a whale carved out of a coconut. Wi-Fi is limited unless you pay for an upgrade. This means no calls on Skype. This is definitely a "luxury" destination and well worth the price of admission.

We absolutely loved Grand Bahia in Samana! Everything was great: room, food, service, grounds. The beach is beautiful. There is nothing to complain about, we had an amazing time and can't wait to go back.

A lot of good features to make this resort worthy of a 5 star rating! The beach is beautiful and like the grounds kept very clean. The food also is great with a lot of variety to choose from. HOWEVER we found the accommdations (bldg.#18) more like a 3 star and had multiple problems. Upon arrival our room had only 1 bed not the 2 requested.We were moved the next day (same bldg.) but in this room the mini-bar,t.v.and door latch did not work properly. Because we were staying for two wks. we were concerned about mould but they would not move us instead they moved the guests in the room above. A lot of our problems could have been resolved quickly with help from the front desk however there was only one employee who spoke English and he was very rude and unhelpful
