Dreams Sands Cancun Resort and Spa: Definitely not a 4 or 4.5 star resort

The description and reviews of this hotel are varied, based on subjective opinions. When we arrived, we were Preferred guests, we were to taken to the Preferred lounge and checked in. We were not informed of the resort amenities, restaurant locations, Preferred beach area etc. The food was probably the worst I have ever had at any all-inclusive resort in Mexico. We ate at the buffet for breakfast a few times, variety varied depending on what day you went, meaning if you are lucky there may be fr [... read more]esh crepes made and waffles and the next day...nothing. Forget about getting any bacon after 9:00, they just put out more deep fried potato hashbrowns. I have always enjoyed the baked goods in Mexico, everyday they were dry and hard. Dinners were even worse, we tried all of the ala carte restaurants, food very inconsistent, we were only able to finish one meal which was at El Patio. We went back the next night and the prawns were mushy, the steak was so tough you could not cut it. Drinks are very very watered down no matter where you went on the resort. The only place we actually had a decent drink was in the Preferred lounge made by Juan. We had to move rooms 3 times, first room was ocean view with balcony. Toilet would not flush, next night room was just okay, bathroom very very small. We finally had to pay for an upgrade to a Junior suite, which was okay except the toilet leaked of raw sewage. Turn down service was hit and miss. Room service food, stay away from. The beach itself is nice. Very disappointed with the whole experience. What I find very disappointing is the fact that we specifically asked the Trip Advisor agent, Victoria Guest for a review of the property. She gave it rave reviews. We in fact called her from the resort on our first day, she just brushed us off and told us to find a Sunwing Agent. There were none on the property the whole week we were there!!

Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres: Great Staff and awesome facilities

- rooms were greats - great buffet selections - all a la carte were amazing except the Japanese restaurant - room service food quality needed improvement - great for kids 4+, however they do not have plastic cutlery for children - kids clubs was amazing

Sandos Cancun: Great small resort

For the size it offered good choices of restaurant and the entertainment team was exceptional . Mario at the pool bar and Gisele who look after the exercise, volleyball and games where particularly great

Moon Palace The Grand Cancun: Nice resort - heavy push for timeshare/membership

Resort was beautiful and lots of good amenities. Water park is great for kids and multiple other pools to hang out at. Beach itself was nice but too windy to swim and seaweed was heavy. Heavy push to upgrade room and then aggressive staff trying to get you to buy timeshare/'membership' which was a drag. Food was pretty good but 2 in our party got pretty bad food poisoning that ruined the last 3 days of the trip. Hyatt Zilara Cancun: Great Resort

The Hyatt Zilara lives up to expectations. The hotel is beautiful, very clean and well maintained. As well, the restaurants provide a variety of food which was well prepared during our stay. But what I liked best was the warmth and friendliness of the staff. A special thank you for wonderful service to Jesus in the Spice restaurant and Diane from the recreation department.

Hyatt Zilara Cancun: Perfect but

Location was great as was food in all locations. Pool was heated and large.Loved the coffee shop and all the staff.I loved everything but the resort needed 1or 2 more washrooms and because I have mobility problems perhaps a carpet on the beach. The place was full of warm friendly staff.

Riu Palace Costa Mujeres: Great resort

Nice place and I would definitely go back just I felt the staff was not that friendly but still good 👍. The food was good but the Japaneses and French restaurants do not want to serve lots of people so you got to go early.

Planet Hollywood Cancun by Royalton: Very Family Friendly

If you are looking for a resort that checks all the boxes, this could be the one for you. The kids pool and amenities are great, with lots of activities to do. This is a Marriot 5* resort, but lower your expectations from other Marriot locations. The attention to details is lacking, such as hair found in the drawers in the dresser, air conditioner not working at check in, bathroom door handle falling off in hand, stale food at the buffet, bland drinks, staff's ability to adjust to the changing m [... read more]oments is very slow, scheduled event last min changes, broken pool chairs still in play, broken glass on pathway for over 24 hrs, and overall condition of the resort needing some attention. All in all, it was a great family vacation. Restaurants were generally decent with good service, if you go early. (not star class) Speaking of Star Class, there was a very distinct division between the two. So if it's important to have 'extras' to feel like more of a vacation, I would definitely say that you need to upgrade at this resort.

Riu Palace Costa Mujeres: Our Return to Mexico...Amazing

Beautiful Resort, grounds were clean and stunning. Our room was clean and we never wanted for anything. This was by far one of the best resorts we have been to. From entertainment to food, pools and beach we were impressed. Thank you for having us.

Riu Latino: Amazing experience

I've been to a few resorts in Mexico, and this was by far the one with the best service. The staff was always smiling and helpful. The resort itself is very clean and well maintained. We went after spring break so we didn't have to fight for our lives for a chair. The buffet is very good, and the Menu à la carte restaurants are among the best I've had so far, and no reservation needed. The water slides are a really nice touch if you're into that! My only minor critic is the daytime music: it's kind of the same thing over and over, but again, far from a showstopper.

Grand Oasis Palm: Medium level resort

It was a medium level resort and was lower than my expectation. There are much better resorts with this price in cancun. Busy restaurants with not qualified foods. No responsible staffs in lobby. Most of them they did not know English !!! I don't recommend it.

Grand Oasis Palm: Awful

It was worth experience Staff were very rude Food was very bad and we were always more than one hour on the line to get into the restaurant and long lines of people. The staff didn’t speak English and didn’t understand what we needed and didn’t care about guests at all. We reserved the tour and they took our money and did not send us confirmation and information about transportation and we lost the tour. On the last day unfortunately they did not send us transportation to get us from h [... read more]otel to Airport, even we talked with them the day before on the phone and confirmed, but they didn’t care and we were late at the airport to come back to Toronto Nobody was responsible for anything in the hotel, I talked to front desk and they did not care and were really rude to me and our family. We were 23 people as a family and friends and everyone unhappy. We wasted our money and our time at this hotel

We thought the hotel was nice. The rooms were nice. The beach is amazing the hotel staff were fantastic. The food not so great except the Japanese restaurant was awesome. The room cleanliness could be improved on.

Planet Hollywood Cancun by Royalton: Loved it!

We spent a week with our two children, aged 9 and 11. PH was an amazing resort! The beach was gorgeous, the grounds were easy to navigate and there was lots to keep my kids busy. They absolutely loved the lazy River, FlowRider, and water slide. The room was perfect. We had a king size bed with pull out couch. The pull out couch was about the size of a king sized bed, which was perfect for the kids. The food was amazing and the buffet, which was our default restaurant, did not disappoint. W [... read more]hile it was difficult to get in to a restaurant, you could easily do so by being there early. The staff was fabulous and always smiling. We especially appreciated Lalo from guest services and Antonio, our everyday server at the buffet in the morning. Our only complaint is the major spring break vibe we got the moment we arrived. It wasn’t the most pleasant scene, being there with kids and having them witness unruly and inappropriate behaviour.

Secrets Mirabel Cancun Resort and Spa: Ok resort but not great.

The food at the buffet was limited. No peanut butter at breakfast, no bacon unless you asked for it, but the a la carte restaurants were better. Hotel staff lovely. Pool chairs all gone by 630an. We set an alarm to get up at 530 to get some and go back to bed. Rooms not updated, broken and stains. Cockroach in the shower. Toilet had a lot of problems. Positives were our view was outstanding!!!! Best I have ever had.

Sandos Cancun: Not a 5 star resort

This hotel is not up to par the food is terrible at buffet or the restaurants. Had to upgrade to a suite as regularly rooms are wet and smell awful. It costs an extra $200. The pictures of this hotel is deceiving.Spend your money at another hotel

Planet Hollywood Cancun by Royalton: Great place for kids

We had a great time at this resort, I’ve been to a lot of resort’s but this one had the nicest rooms. The buffet was loaded with great food, lots of omelettes bars. The kids had a great time at the kids club. Eric the pool waiter was fantastic, Hugo let us use a cabana for part of a day which was really nice. Robinson was really nice with the kids at the beach. All the staff were really friendly. I would definitely go back to this resort

Royalton CHIC Cancun: Fantastic Resort

Hotel was Beautiful & clean had a very fresh scent as you enter. Rooms are clean & spacious. Food was Amazing we did not try Mexican. Entertainment was different nightly outside or in lobby or 2nd floor. Beach was cleaned daily.Pool was clean and warm

Catalonia Grand Costa Mujeres: Beautiful resort but…….

This resort is beautiful. We booked the privilege grand family swim up suite & it was by far the best swim up room we have ever had. This is the first resort we have been to that never gave us a welcome drink upon arrival. Check in was fast. The reservation system for the a la carts is absolutely terrible. It took me 4 days to finally book one. You have to stay up until midnight to try & get your reservation. We found the food to be quite good. There is lots of variety for lunches. The only benefit to being privilege is you can eat at Bloved without a reservation but if you eat there a few times it gets pretty repetitive as they don’t change up their menu. We were there for 2 weeks so by the end of it, I did not want to eat there anymore. The privilege area on the beach is a joke. They don’t monitor it so every color bracelet was sitting there & the beach service was actually better on the non privilege side. Also, we were supposed to get beach towels in our room but there were none. When we asked at the front desk they said they don’t do that anymore. I told them they should update their website then. We were also supposed to get turn down service which never happened until our last night. Oh & there is no where there to exchange big bills for smaller ones. We also found the front desk & bell boys to be unfriendly & rude. Overall we enjoyed our stay but would not go back to this resort.

Riu Caribe Cancun: Beautiful beach

The beach was fantastic!!! Entertainment was really good - rooms clean, facilities clean. Friendly staff. The salad bar was yummy, omelets were good, fresh fruit yea great… however, the rest of the food was not great. The most disappointing was the Mexican restaurant… it was horrible and we were in Mexico ( how embarrassing). The drinks were good. If you want a real cappuccino go to the sports bar. But the beach was super wavy and hard to swim. Too bad a high end name like Riu can’t up the food quality and a small place like NYX is able to provide gourmet food.
