Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Get what you pay for

Overall this resort was ok in terms of the service provided and the cleanliness of the resort. The people were amazing, especially at the pool bar and beaches. The resort isn’t directly on the beach, there is about a 3-5 minute walk from the pool to the beach. The area in between wasn’t that clean or up-kept very well. It was very hard to obtain clean beach towels as the hut was barely open or there was no one working. The food wasn’t the best, but that’s Cuba! Gran Muthu Imperial: Beautiful resort

Hotel was very nice, staff was friendly the pools where nice and refreshing, food was good, the was entertainment every night which was fun. The only complaints I have was pool towels where never available for exchange for a new one and water bottle in room was never replaced when finished other then that everything was great

Gran Muthu Imperial: A resort worth going back to

This new resort is beautiful. Rooms are very clean and staff are very friendly. The pools are beautiful, although the water was a bit on the cold side. The grounds are well maintained. Although the food was repititious, there is always something to eat. Their bread was to die for but the coffee was horrible at the buffet. Over all, I would definitely go back to this hotel and would recommend it to friends and family who are looking for a well priced and relaxing vacation.

Sol Turquesa Beach: Disappointing Resort

Although we chose this resort because of the beautiful photos posted, we were sorely disappointed once we arrived. The rooms are old and sparse of amenities. Our pillows were not actual pillows, but rolled up foam. There was only hot water for showers on 2 days. Power outages were daily. Leaving us with no options for exchanging money until restored. This translated into poor service at times because we didn’t have pesos showing. Servers would skip to people showing tips. Also a [... read more]ffecting pool parties by cutting music and dinners in the dark almost daily. Features such as the grand waterfall were non functioning. Toilets in public areas had either no toilet seat or no privacy door. Often no toilet paper. Pool bars ran out of rum on some days. Pool towels were often not available for exchange. No coffee or cups in the room although we had a coffee maker. Sling chairs on balcony had no sling, simply a frame with no seating. Fridge in room wouldn’t close properly to keep water provided chilled. Only water provided, no soft drinks or beer which is pretty customary. Television was an old, small box set that was very staticky. Clock in room was unusable as an alarm because of power outages in the night. Extra blankets in closet were unusable from the musty smell. Bugs were swarming and biting to point where I had to go to the on-site clinic to get a needle and some cream to soothe the bites. They were spraying for the bugs, but it was ineffective. People were walking around, like me, scratching and itchy. When we asked to change rooms to something more suitable, we were asked to pay another sum of money as an upgrade. We refused as there were so many issues outside of the room we opted to not risk more money on further disappointment. Although we have been to Cuba many times, have loved it, and will return. We will not return to or recommend this resort at all.

Paradisus Varadero: Overall pretty good

This resort was generally really nice though did have some short falls. Beach: really lovely white sand, plenty of chairs and shade, no need to go early to reserve. Pools: really nice, seemingly recently renovated, nice and clean. They were renovating the snack bar bathrooms nearest to the pools, so you kind of have to plan your bathroom trips ahead. Room: we stayed in 1122 which had terrific central location but was pretty dated and in need of updating. Shower had hot water but didn't drain well so it flooded the bathroom. Buffet: overall not the best, repetitive and didn't have standard foods (no bacon at all for the week), but we didn't starve and aren't super picky. Snack bar and beach grill: great food and service at both. A la cartes: Mediterranean and Japanese were both good, the fusion restaurant Bana was so so. Service: was excellent, concierge, bartenders, gardeners, servers across the board were great, attentive and positive. Sometimes they ran out of things but always tried to make it work. Tips were appreciated but we still got great service when we didn't have any money on us. Bugs: lots and lots of mosquitos, bring bug repellant and then pack more. Money: we brought Canadian and exchanged it for CUC. There is a little bank kiosk near the entrance of the hotel and had essentially the same rates as the airport, maybe 1-2 CUC less. Very convenient though. Internet: only available in the lobby. You have to connect with a card that has a username and password. Each card is 1 hour of internet, and they were giving these out for free. Everyday you can get 2 cards per person per room (4 total). But you have to go back to get more everyday. This hotel was very good value for money, so it was an enjoyable stay for us. Certainly it could be improved by some room and food upgrades, but it was still overall pretty good. A little bit on the quiet side, there wasn't much nightlife, but we were after relaxation so that was just fine.

Gran Muthu Imperial: Beautiful Resort

We booked an ocean view room which we had to wait till our second night to get but it was worth the wait because it had a beautiful view. Food was good, I especially like the outdoor bbqs. Everyone was very friendly. Beach is beautiful, a bit rocky in the beginning but less rocky further down the beach. Resort did lose power on our first day, so we had no running water and the toilets wouldn't flush but they still provided some food but I don't know how sanitary it was? We weren't happy that the [... read more]y "ran" out of oceanview rooms so we spent our first day in a junior suite and had to switch rooms the next night. Our shower wouldn't drain that well and would flood so we had to turn the water low. Considering the price I would go back!

Brisas Del Caribe: Very good resort

The hotel complex is very large and with beautiful landscaping and pristine beach.The only problem here is that this resort is filled with rude russians that pushed their way in front of any line up especially the buffet.Most staff are very nice and also the guards especially Yueinsky and Luis who were extremely helpful to arrange safe transportation for us.Lots of insects at this resort so dont forget bug spray.Lots of people walking around with tons of welts from insect bites.I will not go bac [... read more]k because of the infestations of Russians. They were noisy and getting into trouble where police had to show up and have him removed from the resort because due to to his intoxication he was touching other female guest.

Melia Varadero: Great beach, food is challenging

The hotel was clean and well-maintained, and the staff was friendly and helpful. Staff did not seem to expect to be tipped but were grateful when we did. The beach is beautiful and the water is completely free of weeds or stones. Nothing to really see while snorkeling but I’m sure you could find spots further down the beach. The pool is too cold to swim - they must be adding cold water constantly. The hotel is a quick cab ride away from the main strip which has flea markets, a “mallâ [... read more]€ and The Beatles bar - which has live English rock. The only bad experience was the food. The inability to import food was evident in the lack of variety at the restaurants (very limited) and the empty store shelves. The a la carte restaurants were good and provided some relief. Not sure I’ll go back to Cuba while there are such restrictive embargoes in place.

Fabulous staff couldn't ask for a nicer bunch of Staff members.Eddy ,Rene,Freddy . But the food Was not up to my liking. But to each their own ,I have been to Cuba dozens of time .You get what you pay for .

Hotel Playa Coco: Spectacular resort

The beach is exceptional, the people who work there are very welcoming. Always smiling , great service. The restaurants à la carte are delicious. The buffets were very good as well.The rooms are regular, but very comfortable and clean . The pool is very nice as well .The pizza place and ice cream place are tasty as well . All in all , I had a great vacation.

Iberostar Origin Bella Vista Varadero: A beautiful place for a relaxing get away!

Only 30 minutes from the airport. There is not one thing I would change about this trip. Hotel room was clean, well stocked the air conditioning worked amazing. A huge tub, lots of hot water all around perfect room set up. The grounds were very well maintained. Very clean. Pool was spotless. Beach was breathtaking, we spent every day there. We went to Havanna, the bus tour was 10 hours long and every minute enjoyable. I am so glad we did this excursion. The city was beautiful. Bus trip in to varadero. The market was so fun. Saw the Beatles cafe. Was not harassed by the vendors once. Purshaced lots of sourvienors They were very polite. We felt very safe touring around on foot. Nightly entertainment at 930. Always a good show. Very relaxing and recharging trip. Just way we were looking for.

We stayed at Turquesa the be live resort that was 4 star, great value great trip! This resort had good buffet options! service was great and our teavel agent from trip central,Marcela was absolutely great and got us a great last minute deal! thank you!

Valentin Cayo Cruz: Beautiful clean remote resort

This was my first trip to Cuba and I was very comfortable and felt completely safe . The resort was very clean, new and nice decor and no bugs. They do fog twice a day. Rooms were clean and the bed and pillow comfortable. Bathroom facilities excellent. The beach and water was beautiful with many loungers available along with a couple paddle boats. Grand Memories Santa Maria: Amazon resort

The food was so good for Cuba! Fresh meat grill and rice stations. Beach was a 10! Rooms were clean and comfortable. Beer and pop and water restocked daily. The grounds were beautiful! The drive there was great. 90 mins of driving through little Cubans towns. We will go back again Foresure.

Grand Memories Varadero: Great Beach

The resort was nice. We found it a bit crowded for us. The food at the buffet was decent. The coffee bar was the best!! The room was disappointing and dated and definitely needed some TLC. The staff at the resort were incredible. Beach was beautiful. We enjoyed different excursions and spending time in Varadero. If you’re planning a visit be sure to spend some time off the resort. It’s safe and pretty incredible. Next time we visit Cuba we’ll try a different resort. One that’s a bit sm [... read more]aller and one with an ocean view.

Melia Las Americas: Amazing service

We were late in arrival due to slow customs. We felt the room we got was not what we hoped for. The bellman, Frank Calbot, who we know now for years, took charge and upgraded us to a two bedroom bungalow for no extra charge. Incredible service. Great stay, like other years. One downer, the Italian a la cart dinner was awful. Other than that, we will be back next year. We love Melia las Americas.

Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: Good and bad

First 20 hrs of our stay had no power which apparently was happening the week before. You would think they would tell you when you arrive. Not let you find out when you get to your room. Toilet wouldn’t flush and they couldn’t get anyone to look at it till the next day. Had no hot water for another day. Front desk and lobby bar workers where not friendly. They created rules at lobby bar on a daily bases, they could not make drinks in blender you had to go to snack bar, there blender was appa [... read more]rently broke. They stopped filling buba mugs half way through week. Only at lobby bar. The food was not very good and lines moved very slow. I have never seen so many people complaining at the customer service desk before. On the good side the beach was beautiful. Pools and grounds where all nice. Beach bar was awesome to go to. People working there were awesome. The entertainment was very good. I would not recommend or go back to this resort

Melia Peninsula Varadero: Lovely Family Friendly Resort

This was my first vacation to Cuba & I was very pleased with the resort. Our room was spacious & spotlessly clean. Our maid surprised us each day with her creativity in turning our blankets/towels into swans. The food was quite good but some of the meat dishes weren’t properly cooked. We had no problem with the chicken & fish. There was a good selection of side dishes. Service was a bit slow at the buffet and bar but all staff were very friendly & pleasant. All in all it was a thoroughly enjoyable vacation!

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Great resort

Had a fabulous time, weather was great, food was tasty,and always fresh. Beach was clean ,service good,would recomend it for sure! We did a day trip to Pilar beach, the most beautiful clear water ever,if you go to Cayo Coca,this beach is a must!
