Melia Las Antillas: The grounds are amazing!

The best feature of Melia's Las Antillas are outside the hotel itself. A shark pond encircling the pool area is unique, attracting a lot of attention from guests. Little bridges connect all the land areas making for an attractive landscaping feature and good photo opportunities. The beach is good; lots of chairs and palapas, but get there early or they are taken for the day. Most rooms follow a standard layout. They are spacious, but the bathrooms are quite basic. Generally there are signs that maintenance needs to be improved - an elevator long out of service, many missing tiles in the pool, several public toilets plugged. Having said all that, there are many positives. The staff, without exception, were very friendly and helpful. The evening shows, especially the magic acts and the water ballet, are definitely worth seeing. Also, since our flight home was in the evening, we appreciated the no-charge courtesy room available for showering and changing after check-out.

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Beautiful and peaceful resort

Lots of space for everyone even though resort was 90% full. Buffet was okay, Italian and Caribbean were best a la carte restaurant with good steak(from Canada). Best Piña Colada at Piano bar and beach bar. Room was very clean and good size, with soap, shampoo, body lotion. Do private tour recommended by butler, it is worth the extra few $$$. Shows were good, especially the rock show. Live music everywhere you go.

Melia Marina Varadero: I'd go back!

9th trip to Cuba, 2nd trip to Varadero. Overall I would recommend this resort more for families/couples than single people. Originally had booked the apartment all inclusive. Upgraded with ease to "The Level" 6 days @ 265 CUC extra. Made the room closer to all the amenities, access to the 24hr snack bar and restaurant on the 7th floor, unlimited a la cartes (I only made it to the Cuban = was good) and unlimited Internet.  I say unlimited Internet but you just didn't have to pay for the Interne [... read more]t cards that allow you 1hr of use... logging on was still a pain. No fault of the resort as it's all that's permitted in Cuba. People asked if it was worth the upgrade? It really depends on the person... there were no lineups at the level restaurant that was kinda nice... so pros and cons. Overall maintenance of the resort was good... there are constant upgrades being done. The room I had was facing the pool so was kinda nice to see what was going on before heading down. I found the bed was good there were 2 beds in my room so one was used as a staging area. There was no lack of hot water once you figure out what side is hot.... not all the labeling is correct but not a big deal either. The drinks were good & always cold... never watered down like other countries.... never heard anyone ask for a double! I did head down to the beach to take a couple pics but was myself so never went in the water. The beach itself was a course sand not like the white powdery sand I have experienced in other beaches of Cuba. There wasn't a night club or disco on the resort so if you live for that you may be disappointed but can take a short trip to Varadero for the nightclub experience. There's an on site bank to exchange money.... don't take US funds as you will get a very poor exchange rate. Take a travel mug for cold drinks as the pool/beach bars only give you little plastic cups that are about 300ml. So you're constantly asking for another and they don't keep cool. I found that, if you can, take a Bluetooth rechargeable speaker to give away.... I only took a good one, so I didn't want to give it away but will take a cheaper one to give away next time. I was asked by 3 resort workers if i wanted to sell it. USB thumbdrives make good tips too. I found the resort staff to be friendly and very helpful with any issues or concerns. The other guests can really make or break a trip I found. We are all there on vacation, unless you're lucky and we're there work related? I heard lots of complaints from other people comparing Cuba to other countries not effected by the trade embargo. In all honesty, I like Cuba for that fact.... no greasy fast food joints on every corner. I have a lot of respect for these people & how hard they work for few rewards. In the end value for money paid is very good.... I would advise this resort to anyone who needs a break and wants some sun!

Playa Vista Azul: Viva Ocean Vista

Very clean and very friendly staff. It is spread out giving plenty of space to relax in the pools or on two perfect beaches. The entertainment on the stage was world class! And the musicians throughout the resort were an added bonus!

i have been to cuba many times. i always stay at the 3 star resorts for the good cost. this time i gave a 5 star a shot. the resort was wonderful. spectacular views great food and rooms. excellent layout and always something to do! i want to give a shout out to Daniel on the entertainment team. he and his team go above and beyond to ensure you are having fun all day long. i would highly recommend the ocean vista azul for anyone coming to varadero. i will definitely visit this resort again. 5 st [... read more]ar service!

Sol Palmeras: Great resort for families with young kids!

This hotel had excellent staff/service, cleanliness, amazing beach, evening shows, and food options - not only by Cuban standards. Travelling with young kids (5 and 2), this resort is highly recommended for young families. Hotel rooms and beds may be dated, but that should not take away from the amazing service and other resort facilities.

Roc Barlovento: Amazing Property

This was our second time at this property. We enjoyed our stay as it is perfect location for walking in evening watching the fishermen & families fishing or shrimping under the bridge. Not a large property which we prefer. Meals have a large enough variety to chose from and dining room is clean. Maid service was great and rooms were clean no children allowed so allows for more quiet vacation. Although we did have to put up with noisy late night partiers but that will be at all resorts regardless [... read more] of size or price. They aim to please with whatever they have.

Hotel Villa Cuba: Very relaxing

Stayed one week and had no issues at all. Friendly staff and nice rooms. The food was good for Cuba too. Not complaints. Entertainment staff was very good and the beach is amazing. No problems getting loungers. Drinks are not included at the disco. And the 9th floor bar is nice and high up so you can see for miles. Love Cuba and can't wait to go back

Starfish Jibacoa: Great vacation

This was our first trip to Cuba and it was very enjoyable. Beach was really nice and great for snorkeling. Room were clean and adequate. Buffet was better then expected, everyone always warns the food in Cuba isn't good. Not as many fruits and veggies as other destinations but we didn't go hungry. The restaurant was very good. The staff were friendly and helpful. Entertainment every night. Would go again.

Playa Vista Azul: Best Resort!

Such an amazing hotel. Amazing people, the staff are the most friendly people ever. Food is great! The beach is beautiful and the resort is very clean! Varadero town is so close, 10 pesos by cab. So many great bars, clubs, restaurant and just sights. I cant wait to go back!

Occidental Arenas Blancas: Can't complain (ppl r so helpful, I really enjoy more the friendly ppl than the hotel)

Fair / good enough can't complain about this hotel, very friendly and so helpful people with a lot of patience and gentle but manners to deal with any type of situation, things that I really appreciate i hope to come back soon!!☺️🤗 I'm already missing everyone from there!!! Barcelo Solymar: A very pleasant time!

It wasn't my first trip to a resort in Cuba so I knew what to expect more or less, but Barcelo Solymar was an absolute fantastic place. I booked last minute, and for the price I paid, everything was great. The rooms, the food, the service and the beach were exactly what I needed for a 5 day getaway. I should also mention that I traveled solo, and for a young female traveller, it was a very safe place and I had the opportunity to meet new people, so I never felt truly lonesome.

Melia Peninsula Varadero: Good resort for price

Rooms were a little old but clean. everything worked .Staff were friendly over all .Grounds were clean although out side light fixture could be fixed. Definite lack of lighting.food was good . I think you have to drop your standards a little. If you are going for food your going for the Wrong reasons. I would think that if you were going for sun and Beach it is Great. Hotel Bella Costa: Just OK

The hotel is older and run down quite a bit, in dire need of paint and the grounds need groomed, grass was a foot high in some sections. First time I was sick in Cuba, food was limited and not good at all...mixed drinks were not good either, had to stick to beer and wine. Beach was beautiful, staff amazing, and rooms were old but quite nice, we stayed in a villa

Barcelo Solymar: Simple, Clean & Friendly

The hotel was reasonably clean, but it is an older hotel so be prepared for some updating needed. Drinks were good, food...well you don't go to Cuba for the food anyway. Buffet was repetative, warming tables not on, so food cold most of the time. Bad meat hygiene, same utensils used for raw and cooked. Often different kinds of raw meat on same plate. But over all, rooms, beach & pools were nice and clean. Friendly staff. For the price, not bad at all. Just don't expect luxury or fine dining. We went for the beach and booze. Playa Vista Azul: Amazi hotel

This was my first experience with Cuba. The hotel, staff couldn't do enough to make your stay amazing. They were so friendly and kept everything so clean. Being a new resort the grounds were so beautiful. I would definitely recommend this resort to anyone.

Playa Vista Azul: New, modern, clean resort.

The hotel is just two years old. The rooms are modern and in excellent shape. The maids do a great job. The landscaping is young and so this will take a few years to fill out. The infinity pool is amazing. I only wish they played local music instead of American pop culture. The food was okay. I usually stuck with an omelette for breakfast and pasta for lunch. The beach to the right of the hotel is great. The beach on the premises is not good.

Villa Tortuga: Amazing staff

I really enjoyed my stay here I went for 7 nights and got a standered room not bad ( only problem is the balcony door didn't lock ) the staff are beyond wecolming and try to make you feel as welcomed as possible very surprised at how good most of there English was! The pool was bigger then I thought it would be and it was never to busy always able to find a spot and swim with not many people in the water. Very nice how you could just walk onto the beach! Hotel Los Cactus: Dissappointing given the rating and reputation 'Breezes' has.

The hotel was average. The grounds were just being cleaned up during our stay. There was a lot of undeveloped areas on the property. The food was bland and not creative. The staff although nice people but not well trained in the service field.

Los Delfines: Love the Resort

My wife and myself used this resort last February/16 We had such a good time we went again this November for another two weeks and enjoyed it again. Staff are first class nothing to much trouble for their guests. Minutes walk to the beach with white sands and crystal clear Ocean. A Lobby bar small café by the pool with alchohol and food very impressed with the Hotel setup.
