Majestic Colonial Punta Cana Beach Resort: Great vacation

This was our third trip to the Majestic Colonial in the DR. It is the oldest of three connected resorts; the Colonial, Majestic Elegance and the Majestic Mirage (which opened just recently). Being the oldest means that the rooms may have some issues with tired decor but it also means that the grounds have had time to mature into a beautiful and lush landscape. We walked around the other resorts and they are very nice, but the Colonial offers better value for your money in our view. We spend  [... read more]very little time in our room except to sleep in their very comfortable beds. Why be indoors when the pool and beach areas are so beautiful? No need to bring blow driers, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, toothbrushes etc. as they are provided and replenished daily. There is also a well stocked fridge with beverages and a coffee pot for an early morning brew in your room. There are plenty of sunny and shady areas to sit, no worries about having to get up early to secure lounges as happens often at other resorts. The beach area is beautiful, powdery sand and turquoise water with lots of seating available. We have stayed at both the Colonial club adults only section and on the side for families. You will get some extra perks (two private pools, butler service, access to the Club house, etc.) in the adults only side, but for us this year, we found the extras unnecessary and were happy to do without. The main pool here is so large (and beautiful) that you never feel crowded. The adults only pool areas tended to get noisy as more alcohol was consumed! We found the food to be better on each trip, which indicates their willingness to improve their service and listen to customer recommendations. We ate at the buffet most nights as there were more options and less chance of being served food you might not like. We love this resort because it is large enough to never feel crowded but small enough that you can walk everywhere comfortably. The staff are friendly, helpful and accommodating and work hard to ensure your comfort. I think it is the ideal place for a quiet and peaceful vacation. There is plenty to do if you are so inclined, but if you are looking for a party-like atmosphere this resort would not be your first choice. One other thing! My husband likes the fact that the resort is not too far from the airport (about half hour away). We fly Air Transat and they provide transportation to and from the resort which is great.

TRS Cap Cana Hotel: Beautiful location

The hotel is lovely. Grounds are well tended and look beautiful. The vistas looking out over the pools and bridge towards the water are amazing. The pools are great. The beach area is very small but quite pretty. The entertainment was great and mostly at the Alsol Luxury. The dining was passable but not five star. The hospitality staff were friendly. Housekeeping is not reliable, food is just okay.

Melia Caribe Beach Resort: Beautiful amazing resort!

The Level Adult at the Melia Caribe Tropical resort is a great place to relax while on holiday. The staff is outstanding especially Jose Minaya our butler he definitely made things happen. He never ceased to amaze us. Jose surprised us with a horse and buggy ride for our special dinner. The food was very good at all of the restaurants we went too. Ocean Blue and Sand: Great way to spend our honeymoon!

Our first ever trip out of Canada and we had a blast. The hotel staff was super friendly, never once did anyone ask for a tip. Marino, our beach side privilege bartender was AMAZING. Always ready with a drink - he even hunted us down half way down the beach to bring us beer (even though we were not within our Privilege area). The resort was nice, easy to get around. The resort was not huge so easy to walk around. Enrique (our concierge) was very friendly and fun to chat with. He even gave us a beautiful gift for our honeymoon on our last day. The beach needs some work but our room was within feet of the ocean so it was great. The shop vendors off the resort could be a little overwhelming when you step on the beach but they are still friendly and not pushy.

Grand Sirenis Punta Cana Resort: Beautiful Resort and Grounds

The resort and grounds were beautifully maintained. Our room was spacious and clean. The grounds were well tended. The pools had swim up bars and between the restaurants and beach BBQ, food was never far away. The beach was very clean and had plenty of lounge chairs. The staff at every turn were attentive, cheerful and very helpful and accommodating. The main building had two large dining rooms with a different themed buffet every day. Very family friendly resort with certain areas more kid friendly than others so if you wanted to be in a more adult area it was easily possible. There was a different show for the kids at the pool every afternoon and another family show every evening. Great time!

Paradisus Palma Real Golf and Spa Resort: Breathtaking, peace and solitude

We loved this hotel. It is spotless. The staff can't do enough for you. Lots of activities. You can walk on the beach for miles. Lots of restaurants to choose from! We missed the sound of the ocean from our room but we loved the view of the gardens ! We didn't have any trouble booking restaurants. We loved every moment,

Royalton Splash Punta Cana: Fun times!

My family and I just got back from a vacation at memories splash Punta Cana and we had a great time! My three-year-old absolutely love the facilities and we were fairly pleased with the experience! Lots of choice at the buffet and no lineups for the restaurant & easy to get cots in high season! Staff was very responsive him we were fairly pleased!

Bahia Principe Explore Legend: Amazing Resort!!

The hotel was beautiful, immaculately clean and the attention to detail was commendable. The service was always with a smile and the food was absolutely delicious, lots of variety and fresh all the time. We appreciated the choice of buffets and the a la carte restaurants. The beach was very close (just a 1 minute trolley ride) or 10 minute walk. The waterpark for the kids was absolutely wonderful, I couldn't get them to leave.

Catalonia Bavaro Resort: Awesome resort, great food!

The hotel was kept very clean and the staff were very helpful. The only thing I was not satisfied with was the seaweed in the water and on the beach. The steak house and the carribean were by far my favourite restaurants!!

Majestic Colonial Punta Cana Beach Resort: Beautiful resort

Best resort we have been to!.The people were so friendly,the food was awesome,and the layout of the resort was perfect.Always chairs available at the pool area.Great customer service with the phone calls to see if we needed anything .We loved this resort😊

TRS Cap Cana Hotel: Perfect setting

Really enjoyed the entertainment. The staff's English needs improvement. Hotel room service and housekeeping needs to be revised because something is always forgotten. Food was great. Needs more vegetables on menu

Occidental Punta Cana: Amazing resort

This was our fourth year coming to this resort. It has new owners and the rooms and bathrooms have been completely transformed. Everything is very modern and I loved the shower. It had a big shower head like a rain shower and a hand held. Plumbing is great and lots of hot water. We missed the old style rooms but most younger people I'm sure would prefer them. We were disappointed that the new rule for the alacarts is the men have to have long pants and closed shoes. We thought that was not very fair since women can wear shorts and sandles. The steakhouse alacart was awesome. The service was good in all restaurants but again we always tip. One dollar is really appreciated. We noticed this year that very few people tipped. These servers are very poor and need that little bit!!! The grounds are kept very clean and the workers are constantly busy. We miss the flowered hedges. They took them out for some reason. The weather was great and loved the beach and pools

Bahia Principe Explore Turquesa: Beautiful Resort!

Very large grounds, with 7 resorts to keep you busy! Food was great, pools were nice and plenty of them. Each day we walked around and found something new to do. The beach was a bit disappointing, I have definitely seen better. It felt compact, but nice sand and blue water!

Excellence Punta Cana: Second Time a Charm

This was our second time and once again it was amazing. The service, food and amenities were excellent. I can't wait to go back next year. I understand that the resort is getting some updates and that will be wonderful. I hope they add more bathrooms at the beach area and provide softer beds. Bahia Principe Explore Turquesa: Beautiful winter escape

Bahia Principe Turquesa Punta Cana Pros: Clean rooms, flatscreen tv, daily maid service, mini fridge replenished daily, jucuzzi tub in bathroom and a rainforest shower head. Buffet food good, ala cartes good, drink ok, white wine very dry but adequate, Grounds very well maintained, lots of shaded area with palapas Pools very clean,beach has loads of loungers and seed weed free, Entertainment in main lobby was a couple of singers that were very good. Unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate while we were there to be able to experience more of the resort but it was still amazing.

Majestic Colonial Punta Cana Beach Resort: Best trip ever!

This resort is absolutely beautiful! My boyfriend and I loved every second of our vacation. The room was so fresh and clean, with a nice view of the resort. The staff always smiling and happy to assist us. We enjoyed the various shows and activities each night, night life is fabulous. The restaurants on the resort are superb, not a meal we didn't enjoy. Quick and easy access to the gorgeous beach. This is a place we will definitely go back to!

Royalton CHIC Punta Cana: Beautiful modern resort

Overall we had a fantastic stay Would recommend to couples, solos and friends who like a more lively and up beat resort. If you are looking for a quiet relaxing resort I would not recommend. (although they do have down time during the day from the music and entertainment) Resort: Resort was very modern and very well maintained. Entertainment: Big shout out to Luis, Silvia and Fifi who made our stay amazing. They work very hard to entertain you during the day and the night. People often neglect to tip entertainers, remember just because they aren't pouring booze down your throats does not mean they are not working hard to entertain you. So please keep this in mind. The foam party was the best by far. If you love night life this place has great parties after 10PM. Drinks: Overall the drinks were what you would expect at an all inclusive. They do take their time in making them so please be patient. The best drinks served were at night while waiting for your meal in the sitting area outside of the restaurants as well as the main bar in the middle of the main entrance. Negative points: I do find some of the staff a little pushy trying to up sell you when you are walking to your room. I understand they are there to help you, but once you start talking they want to try and get you into a presentation that takes 2-3 hrs (from what I was told). Although you do get 100USD towards spa, or cabana etc. Other than that we had a great time and great experience at this very modern resort. I also want to thank Jonathon (hotel manager) for taking time during the day to walk around the pool and discuss and concerns that guests may have. Very professional.

Riu Republica: Very Windy in January

Why no one did a study on the are to see if it was a good spot for a resort is a mystery to me. The winds reached 42km/h and would regularly gust up to 35km/h. I can understand a day or two, however the "Red Flag" indicating that you cannot go into the sea because of dangerous waters was out 10 of the 14 days we were there. Waves in the 6 foot range consistently. Why not invest in some walls or breaks in the water to control the waves? Riu Republica: Terrible

The room we were in had all 12 air conditioner generators right under our balcony. We were told the garden room but it was more like the road, a place where they do laundry for the hotel and the 12 generators. I did not think the room was cleaned properly. The night before we left we had what I thought was ants all over our bed. After calling someone showed up and said they were not ants and they tickle not bite. I told her I did not want these bugs crawling all over me. She sprayed someth [... read more]ing and washed the floor and it made it better. The food was good but I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Ocean Blue and Sand: A let down

To give an honest opinion the resort itself was good. Restaurants were good. Rooms were clean. I upgraded my room to privilege at the cost of $1000 Canadian. That is where everything went bad. The toilet didn't flush, shower didn't work. They took 3 days to fix the toilet, the shower never was. We never received any of the bonuses for the privilege upgrade, besides the access to the beach huts. Even after talking to the staff 3 times nothing improved. Was a total waste of money.
