Melia Peninsula Varadero: Best Hotel on the Beach!

We've been coming to the Melia Tryp Peninsula for 7 years, and each year it gets better- welcoming staff, beautiful grounds, and plantation-style accommodation in 2-3 story buildings surrounded by palms, a few steps from the ocean.

Barcelo Solymar: Great Location!

The hotel was right on the beach and in central Varadero, so we could walk into town no problem. The beaches were gorgeous and very clean. We had an ocean front room, so we enjoyed the view very much from our balcony. We only at a la carte once (seafood) as the others were booked in the earlier time slots which we preferred. The dinner at the seafood was very good. We never had a problem getting drinks and the staff was always very friendly and helpful. The food at the buffet was fine, there was [... read more] a good variety. It was nice that the grounds were shared with Barceló Arenas as we could choose where to eat or which pools to use. The only negative was that because Castro had died on the day we left, there was no music anywhere in Cuba, though this was no fault of the resort, it was a part of Cuba we missed out on ... guess we will have to go back another time. :-)

Paradisus Varadero: Paradisus

Very good service. Lots of problems with the room but we were moved very quickly to another. All the staff were trying very hard to help in any way. Unfortunately (as we have traveled to various places in Cuba and several places in Varadero they must find it difficult to keep up maintenance to these places - lack of supplies and/or maintenance people.

Starfish Jibacoa: Relaxing friendly resort

We were very impressed with the cleaniness and the beautiful grounds. The beach was amazing and very spacious. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and got to know you by name. We met many people that have been to this resort many times and return yearly. The food was good but the alacart was better. We recommend this resort for a great relaxing time.

Sol Varadero Beach: Pretty run down resort

At first we got checked in to the Sol Sirenas side not the Coral side. Those rooms were disgusting. The shower was mouldy and my bathroom roof was caving in. I had to push my door open as it was dragging on the floor. The picture in the frame on the wall was partly out of the frame and the matting was water stained and warped.The beds were all springs and so uncomfortable. The room smelled musty. On the 3rd day we got switched to the Coral side for the remainder of our 2 weeks. The staff on the  [... read more]Coral side was much friendlier although some of them were not at all. The reception staff was amazing as was the restaurant staff. The food was pretty boring and didn't really change ever. The a LA cartes were okay. We enjoyed the Italian and Asian ones the most. The pools were pretty dirty but we spent minimal time in them anyways. The sauna and hot tub were closed. They were cleaning the grounds up while we were there so they were decent. There was a compost pile coming up from the beach that really started smelling bad at the end. The beach was okay. A tractor came through and raked the sand but it didn't seem to pick any garbage up or anything so I'm not sure what the point was. There was a nice outdoor grill at lunch time down by the beach that another tourist happened to tell us about. That was awesome. Nothing was advertised or organized though so you just had to accidentally stumble across it or have someone tell you about it. The entertainment was cancelled for the most part however that may have been because of the 9 days of mourning of Castro's death. The first few days there was volleyball and stretching on the beach then that was it. The rooms were okay. They were clean enough but the beds were really hard. At least these showers were decent. It was really hard to find toilet paper or paper towel in the bathrooms outside of your room. This was really frustrating and unnecessary. That would be my biggest complaint. Even when the staff knew the washrooms were out of supplies they did nothing. One of our party had an issue with lights in their room and that problem was resolved within an hour and a half. Overall a bit dissapointing even for the lower price we had paid. I wouldn't go back or recommend it to anyone.

Hotel Villa Cuba: Fantastic Vacation!

We arrived Mon November 28th around 3 pm our room wasn't ready but the front desk people were very friendly and helpful. They told us what to do with our luggage, checked us in and answered any questions we had regarding our stay. We wandered around the resort noticing all staff were friendly. Our room wasn't spectacular but it didn't matter to us. We were there during the mourning of Fidel Castro, so there wasn't any entertainment at the resort but it certainly didn't hinder our vacation. Melia Marina Varadero: Top notch resort

Rooms are very clean with plenty of water pressure. Food was always good to excellent. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Our entertainment was cancelled due to the passing of Fidel, so the resort was a little quiet. The marina is very clean with many nice shops would definitely go again

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: November 26-December 3 2016 trip

We just got back from our stay at the Sanctuary Grand memories hotel in Varadero Cuba. We arrived the day after Fidel Castro passed away, which changed our trip completely unfortunately. All of Varadero(and probably Cuba) had a 9 day mourning period. This started the day we arrived and ended the Sunday after we left. This meant, absolutely NO music or entertainment and there was a very somber mood for the first 2-4 days of our trip. Luckily we brought our own music player and iPods. There was no [... read more] daytime games, water games, drinking games, or day or night time entertainment. Besides this crappy part, the resort was beautiful, grounds were very well maintained, rooms were clean and always equipped with beer/alcohol and water/pop. The staff was very friendly and pools were decently clean. The food was pretty good, offering good variety at the buffet and the A la cartes were very tasty. The beach was nice, small, but nice and clean. Overall, if we had arrived a week later or even before, our stay would have been so much more enjoyable!

Sol Varadero Beach: Would not go again !!!

The hotel is not great. The staff are not helpful especially in customer service I found them to be extremely rude. If I had a dollar for every time I was told to go to the other side I could of stayed an extra week. Hotel is split up into 2 resorts and was repeatedly told to go to the other hotel. For everything. Bank was under construction so had to go to other side. Entire resort is so dark you cannot walk around safely after 6 pm Would definitely not go back

Hotel Los Cactus: What friendly staff and tourists !

The Breezes Varadero is beautiful and very clean. Our room was spotless with a nice view form the third floor. What a week at the beach, above outdoor temperature almost every day and the ocean was very calm each day, green flag and practically no rain. Yes, all staffs were nice and friendly but especially other tourists. Since all LIVE entertainment were cancelled due to Castro's death, we end up meeting lost of tourists. Melia Varadero: Lovely resort - bad timing

We arrived in Cuba on the day of Fidel Castro's death and at the beginning of 9 days of public mourning. Therefore, we were very restricted in terms of activities off the resort, and there was no music or entertainment on the resort - a very somber environment. However, I would comment that the resort itself was very nice. The beach was lovely, and we participated in swimming, snorkeling, boating and lounging. The pool was also very nice, and plenty of chairs and shade/sun to go around. W [... read more]e really liked the "Level" service and used the Level lounge area regularly, and the concierge service to book the internal restaurants, currency exchange, and general information. Food, beverages and service was very good, beyond expectations. My husband was looking forward to tennis and lessons, but the resort pro did not make his appointments and so that was disappointing. The gym equipment was not great, but not important to most of our group. All in all, great resort, great weather, but bad timing for us.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Pleasant Surprise - 5 Star Resort

Overall a excellent resort with friendly well caring staff. All services were "best effort". Food is excellent on an international scale - if you like burgers and hot dogs you will be disappointed. Beef is not easily raised here. A La Carte restaurants were excellent - Hilltop service was better than New York, Paris, Toronto. Food at Italian and French were on par with any 5 Star Resort. General staff is good...formal rules with what they can and cannot do - ie wifi cards can only be boug [... read more]ht with local CUC and only when the teller is is there...no exceptions even in an emergency. Some aggressive tipping from the pick up bus driver and guide (Charlie Brown) - other than that no aggressive tipping requests.

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Breathtaking resort

This hotel exceeded my expectations. My husband and I enjoyed every minute of our stay. We loved the fact that the hotel room, grounds etc was exactly the way it was portrayed on the website. It was our first time to Cuba and it was an amazing experience. We will definitely come back to this hotel. It was beautiful.

Melia Varadero: Amazing resort

We stayed on the level and it is definitely worth the extra money. We loved the Steak House for level clients and all the personal service available on the 5th floor. The manager of the level is an amazing woman who checked in on us on numerous occasions to make sure we were happy with everything.

Muthu Playa Varadero: Good except for 2 things.

What to say about our Vacation. This marked my 6th time to Cuba and like usual it did not disappoint in most categories. Pros: Weather was nice, beach was beautiful, staff was helpful and cheerful. Food was mostly good. Cons: Dated facilities, horrible Wi-fi login/logout issues. Wasted over 30 minutes of our card trying to log out. Gym opens too late: 9am, no toast, no bacon for breakfast and no tomatoes in the buffet. First time I had ever seen that happen. Worst of all was finding out we g [... read more]ot bedbugs. Our room was always clean and the maids were diligent, but somehow we got bedbugs anyway. Have been scratching away for the past 5 days and am hoping it goes away soon. Overall for the price we got decent value for our money. The staff does a good job with what they have to work with. I would not go back but that is due to getting bedbugs which we have never gotten anywhere in over 25 trips. I suggest people check for infestations more diligently than we did.

spacious, well-maintained grounds with interesting trees and wild-life, relaxing atmosphere, very good beach for walking and snorkelling; rural location with scenic, hilly back-drop; only one hour drive to Havana

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Okay hotel

Poor food selections. If you like pork and shrimp you are good to go. Cleanliness of rooms daily were much to be desired. Pools and pool areas were clean and organized. Lots of chairs available on the beach as well as the pool areas.

Melia Las Americas: Amazing resort

The Hotel is one of the best all inclusive hotels I have stayed in anywhere in the world pesently surprised by the quality of the food. Drinks served in glasses not cups 24 hour bar Even though we stayed the week Castro died when we had no music or entertainment for 4 days we amused our selves we were a group of 17 guys Golfing we had so much fun. Darts, table tennis ,volleyball TV had English channels and fox sports mls we watched toronto v Montreal. The bar staff made any cocktail you w [... read more]anted and brand names like Jameson but you can't beat the rum and I would never drink rum bur it's so good and cigars we had a blast.we will be back Service if your waiting to be served by the outside Varina was very slow at times but your in the Caribbean but at the lobby side bar it was great a class hotel our room was large Enought for a family 2 double beds up stairs a bar kitchenette 2 balconies couch living room on lower floor.upstairs with a side ocean view . You could find a short cut to the beach from most rooms even though we were a long walk to main hotel entrance but worth it. A

Sol Varadero Beach: Paradise exists afterall

Hotel was comfortable, service second to none, beach was the best in the world, the pools are magnificent, wonderful bar pools. Great snorkeling. The Cuban people are friendly. Every day the chamber maids would not only do my bed, clean the room, ensure there was a fresh new supply of towels and bottled water but they would do magnificent elephants, birds, boats or other artistic designs with the towels. Occidental Arenas Blancas: Great resort!

The hotel was great and it was attracted to the Solymar. That made the experience even better. The hotel was walking distance from night clubs and shopping. It was very convenient and the beaches were close by as well. The staff was very friendly!!!
