Playa Pesquero: Another great vacation

This our fourth trip. The resort was wonderful. It was clean and the staff is amazing. The beach was beautiful and the pool was also super. The coffee bar and ice cream parlour were my favourite places to go. There was a gas embargo and a lot of food was unable to get to the resort. This meant that many of the meals were repeated and some of the seafood was not available. This affected all of the resorts not just playa and they did the best they could under difficult circumstances. Do [... read more]n't judge the food during the embargo it is what it is. We met many new friends both from Cuba and from around the world and I hope you will give this resort a go. The only disappointment was the diving. The reef is dying and there is so much dead coral, it was very sad. We only have ourselves to blame for the state of our reefs.

Playa Luxury Cayo Las Brujas: One of the Best!

We have just returned from Angsana Resort, Cayo las Brujas, Cuba. It’s a quite new resort, smallish, adult only. To an employee, the staff is dedicated to friendly, professional service. Our Concierge, Yailet, made the difference - what a resource they have in her - professional, empathic, helpful. The gardening staff has created some of the most lush and harmonious grounds. The bath was enormous, with soaker tub, separate large rain shower and separate toilet closet. Hot water was never a problem. I’d bring an adapter, extension cord with USBs. A long large beach was to the west, separated by coral bluffs from Angsana’s smaller eastern hidden beach. Both beaches were always groomed and each had a bar hut, with beach lounge drink service and grill hut serving great burgers and marinated chicken, fish and shrimp skewers. Never any lounge wars, at either of the 2 pools or the 2 beaches. Snorkelling was pretty good - lobsters, starfish, conch, small barracuda, fish. A long walk to neighbouring Dahwa Resort will get rides on catamarans, paddle boats and kayaks. Food was not bad - egg stations at brekkie, very tasty burgers at the pool resto, good lasagna and spag bol at night. The coffee wasn’t good / ASIDE: why is Cuban coffee in resorts always bad and then they try to sell it in bags? You should be giving resort guests the good stuff if you want them to love it then buy it / The 3 al a cartes are located in the same uninspiring room, rotating between Oriental, Italian and Seafood. All are completely bland and forgettable.. not bad, just not tasty. From what I saw out front, I don’t think that the kitchen has a bad larder, it’s just no inspiration or expertise at the chef level. But Angsana is otherwise lovely enough and the food is not bad enough that the level of cuisine would put us off returning. There was a noticeable lack of entertainment. I’ve never been to a resort in Cuba, big or small, that didn’t have a Cuban night with a trova or small grupo. There was only an hour of either piano, horn or guitar with recorded background each night in the main bar. Most of the negative comments were centred on the lack of different a la cartes and lack of entertainment. The positive comments greatly outweighed the negative... the excellent facilities, the quiet atmosphere, the top notch staff and the gorgeous beaches keep many people coming back. Angsana has a devoted following. It definitely is a cut above other inexplicably rated 4.5 star resorts.

Gran Muthu Imperial: Gorgeous and amazing resort!

I stayed in the adults only Grand Muthu and everything was amazing. The staff, the view from my room(sea side view), the weather, the beach, the pools, the drinks, the food(a few things such as the fruit wasnt the greatest but over all the food was pretty good). Highly recommended! It deserves and holds true to the 5 star rating it has. ☀️

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Fiesta Americana

We spend our holiday there from January 18 to the 27th. We went with four friends. We had a blast, beautiful water, clean rooms. Food as expected service staff was run off their feet, short staffed all the time and at every aspect. Housekeeping staff was gracious and lovely as always. What we were not expecting is to be flat out ignored by the entertainment staff. Now I must also include that there only seemed to be three of them, which is ridiculous for a resort with kids. They only socializ [... read more]ed with the Miami Cubans that were there visiting. Very disappointing. Nothing better or worse than any other Cuban resort, but wouldn't go back. There are many other resorts that would be happy to include everyone in activities.

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Great Ocean Views

The travel agent Beth McKinley was very professional and informative. The resort was overall a great experience. The bar staff were great, if you can get an ocean view it is definitely worth the upgrade. I rented a moped the entire week and the husband and wife that rent them out at the resort were very friendly and the price was reasonable.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Beautiful week in Cayo Coco!

Our week at the Ilberostar Daiquiri was wonderful! Our room had a king size bed as requested and an ocean view that was perfect! The staff were always friendly and very helpful throughout the resort. Everything was always kept clean and staff were always busy making improvements and repairs. The food in the buffet was always plentiful but tended to be repetitive as is typically seen in Cuba. The entertain [... read more]ment staff ran games on the beach everyday, which everyone enjoyed watching even if not participating. Bar staff were always friendly and there never seemed to be a long wait for our drinks. The Cuban “rum” bar also served delicious strawberry daiquiri’s! We are early risers to go for beach walks so we never did see the show at night. Our last night we had our dinner at the Mexican al a carte which was very nice! Overall we had the quiet relaxing week we had hoped for. We’ve had many trips to different areas of Cuba and we both agree our second time at this resort was one of our nicest trips!

Iberostar Selection Varadero: Amazing resort

Very Beautiful everything was very very clean the beach everything about this hotel was wonderful From the staff to the rooms to the food pool bar service the coffee bar was amazing I would definitely recommend this special please to all my friends

Valentin Perla Blanca: Gone downhill

Food and service was definitely not as good as 2 years ago or equal to star rating (hot dogs with everything)! Will not be going back and sorry I recommended to friends! Pillows suck! I found the expected tipping a bit much!

Melia Internacional: Beautiful resort terrible food

While the hotel grounds are beautiful and everything is extremely clean, the hotel lacks food quality and quantity. For a five star new resort I had higher expectations especially for the price I paid. Also, the private convention events being held in the common areas of the hotel were the reason that I will not return to this hotel again.

Gran Muthu Imperial: Nice resort

Well the hotel is newer and the rooms were nice as were the pools :) drinks were good but the service was not the greatest you had to get your own drinks and as far as the buffet food was concerned .. there were big line ups because the staff was not trained very well . There were some exceptions .. some staff were very good . The beach was kept nicely but got bite up ..so take your insect repellent :) this was not a 5 star as it says I stayed at 3 and a half stars in Cuba that were bette [... read more]r .. I would rate it a 3 the last night we were there the hydro was out for around 16 hours so we had no water so that was interesting I asked about 4 times if someone would be able to get a bucket of water to flush the toilet .. finally I was going to do it myself then the maid offered to do it ... the staff were pretty laid back but I must say the guy running the swim up bar was amazing :) the only way I would go back to this place is if I got a really good deal on it :)

Villa Natura: VERY PEACEFUL RESORT

Clean rooms, friendly service, good value, great coffee and the beach is back. Very close to airport so no wasted shuttle time. Food was okay, limited supply of some items but you will not go hungry. A new pool is available with easy beach access.

Melia Las Dunas: Very Good Resort

The resort has a good layout with easy access in walking distance to everything. Golf carts available for transportation as well. Grounds and public areas nicely kept. Vegetation is amazing and very well maintained. Some cleaning practices in the public areas need improvement as cleaning ladies have to squeeze the mops by hand, which is unaesthetic and unhygienic. Key cards not always working even after replacement. One key was always working, the second not. Buffet selection was very good, with fresh food and vegetables every day, a large selection of meats to make on order. The Beer Garden was the favorite for lunch, the buffet for breakfast and dinner. Tried the Pizzeria and while the food was good, some menu items were not available and we ended up at the buffet thereafter. Wi-fi was extended throughout the entire resort, with signal sometimes stronger on the beach than in the lobby. This was a very nice surprise. People awesome as ever, very good service, very attentive and personable. From serves, to bar tenders, entertainment crew, room keepers, reception and public services, it was always a pleasure dealing and interacting with them. Overall a very good resort, highly recommendable.

Hotel Caracol: Very relaxing vacation

Hotel “Amigo Caracol” at Santa Lucía beach, Cuba is newly renovated. The rooms are spacious with an entrance including a sofa, chair and a little fridge. The rooms are with balcony. The buffet restaurant is spacious as well, but it is very noisy(because the ceiling is low). Some times, there are flies around the food. Punta Peninsula Varadero: Amazing Resort!!!❤

We Just returned from our 7-Day all-inclusive trip. To Fiesta Americana I'm a single mom and I took my young daughter with me alone. I was worried about safety, but I had no problems. The staff was very kind and helpful. Other visitors on vacation were very helpful and my daughter made friends as well as did I the room was clean. And big the only issue I had was water bottles. We enjoyed the spaghetti pasta chicken, eggs , omlets made rigjt in front of u? Pizza and pastries as well as some good fruit. Tiny little bananas they were cute. We were on the third floor of the closest Villa. I had a view of the ocean and pool. Everything was 2 min away, poll, beach and office. 1 peco for an hr of wifi in lobby. On the main floor. I heard people had problems with mosquitoes. But I did not. We left gifts for the maid every day. She left us Thank you notes!! So sweet. The reserve was very large lots to explore and we loved the lighthouse. We saw lots of different creatures, jellyfish blue and clear, gekos, lizards, snake, pelican bird, sting rays, fish and more!!The beach was white sand Clear Water brought home lots of treasures. The gift shops were perfect. We loved that the marina was directly across the street and there were outdoor shopping places and a nice place to stop for ice cream. I recommend you bring little Kleenex packages. And maybe a mini alarm clock cuz they don't have that stuff. And catch up if you love ketchup, LOL. The coffee was amazing. Sol Turquesa Beach: Wow

We loved everything about this resort. Our 9th time in Cuba but first time staying in Holguin. The staff is wonderful, food is surprisingly good and rooms are decent. Beach was clean and plenty of lounge chairs available. Would come back to this resort without a doubt!

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Not Amazing

I have been to this resort many times, however; I think I just had my last visit. The staff was still wonderful and inviting, there were too many negative things. The grounds not maintained, tiles missing from bottom of pool, black grout on tiles in pool and smell from septic not pleasant. My room was not as clean as in the past, especially the washroom, light bulbs needed replacing (apparently a shortage). The food; last year there was no milk, bread/flour, limited fruit, vegetables, meats a [... read more]nd juices. This year we did have milk and bread, more of a selection of meats, limited to no fresh fruits and vegetables. I found all the meals were basically the same in all the restuarants, presentation was not what it was in the past. Very disappointed, I'm glad I didn't book 10 days.

Gran Muthu Imperial: Grest resort wonderful people.

Everything was great. Clean room. Great staff. we had a power outage which was not the fault of the resort. It was region wide but the staff did an exceptional job to make us all as comfortable as possible and make sure we were fed. GREAT JOB!!!!!!!!!!!

Starfish Varadero: Standard

Rooms are kept decent, we had warm water no hot water. Card to safe didn’t work all week. Buffet will keep you alive. Very nice and helpful staff, work with what they have. Beach is beautiful, small pool. This was our 4th visit to Cuba, probably about a 2.5 star to Canada hotels.

Marazul Hotel: Oldie but goodie

I like Hotel Marazul/Tropicoco, I have been going every January for 5 years, my comments are based on those 5 years that I have experienced. But I think it is almost dead, the staff are still wonderful people, they do a great job looking after me. The hotel lobby is more empty than busy, it used to be a friendly busling environment but not so much now. The Animation team is all but non existent, items advertised for things to do through the day (bingo, dance lessons, etc.) did not happen, of a [... read more] 7 day week there were 2 decent shows in the evening, the other days a disc jockey just played music hoping people would come down and dance. Food, the food was normal for Cuba, I never got sick never had problems but one gets tired of the very same thing day in and day out, basically the same gruel every day, if there were more local restaurants on the street I would suggest they change to being a breakfast only place. If it were not for it's proximity to Havana I would classify it as a useless hotel, the beach is great but that is about where it ends. To make matters worse the price for Marazul/Tropicoco has gone up substantially from previous years, sorry, but Hotel Marazul/Tropicoco is not a $1,000.00 a week hotel, they advertise 3 star, to me at best is deserves only 2 stars. Further in the survey/review it asks if I would recommend the hotel there is only a yes or no choice but my choice is maybe as over the years I have enjoyed being here and if I learn that it is improved I would say yes but at this time I will mare the survey question "no" I will still investigate coming here in the future but I am now looking elsewhere for my January vacation.

Weather was great beach was great the people were great beer was cold rooms were dated food sucked but we didn’t starve pretty much as we expected but the beach and the people were worth it go on a buggy ride and see where the people really live they appreciate anything for the money you can’t beat this place just don’t expect too much
