Excellence El Carmen: Still a great resort

Second time for us One of the better resorts we’ve been to and have been to many 5star resorts all over. Great food and lots of choices Beautiful and modern Resort The staff is pretty amazing whether in restaurants , buffet beach bar or entertainment staff Keep it up!!!

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Became very ill at this resort

We had a horrible vacation. Both my girlfriend and I became very ill due to bacteria consumed in the food or the water at your resort. This caused us to spend half of our vacation very ill and we spent several days in the hospital at Peurto Plata and the illness affected my kidneys, causing inflammation and a great deal of pain. We got a few days out of an 8 day vacation. What a giant waste of money and time, not to mention the horrible feeling of being so sick for several days. We will never return to the Dominican Republic because of this. I think Iberostar should take some responsibility here and provide us with some sort of compensation here for our wasted time and money and our horrible experience at this resort hotel. Give it a go if you maybe feel like spending half your trip in a foreign hospital, maybe you're into that but I am not. You should not be dying to just make it home from a vacation. We paid a lot of money and took time off work to get a stress release and to relax. What we got was quite the opposite. Very, very disappointed and this leaves us with a bad taste in our mouths for Iberostar and the Dominican Republic. All of this aside, speaking strictly to the service received; the caliber of service was not as high as I expected when compared to what I have received at other resorts in other countries like Mexico, and for how much money we paid. Making dinner reservations at the a la carte restaurants was a gong show. We were told to use the Iberostar app by front desk staff, so we did. Then just about every dinner the restaurant would not have our reservation and we had to argue with difficult restaurant staff who would begrudgingly accommodate you after finding their manager. This is not something I feel like I should have to do at a paid resort vacation.

Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: Another great stay at Casa Marina

This was the third time we have been at Casa Marina and every time we go, it’s better. There have been multiple parts of the resort renovated, the newest being the lobby bar and lounge and Mexican and Italian restaurants. We did not have renovated rooms but they were clean and comfortable. Other family members had a renovated room which was very nice and modern. The food is always great and plentiful. Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: Great experience!

Beach was beautiful (very busy), there are a million pools, the grounds are kept very clean and the rooms were well serviced. All staff were extremely attentive and friendly for the most part. Buffet staff were the only hit and miss for service. Overall an excellent vacation and would recommend.

Bahia Principe Explore Legend: Fantastic resort

Rooms are large and excellent, all new with zero mold issues, extremely clean, so much for kids to do you won’t be disappointed, took advantage of access to other resorts in complex and excellent restaurants. Thank you to Deputy Mgr Jennifer who promptly sorted out a issue for me - my group was booked at AquaMarine and she made arrangements so I could eat with them - outstanding help!

Be Live Experience Hamaca Suites: Beautiful resort

The hotel grounds were beautiful. Workers were friendly and tried their best to as helpful as possible. Really nice amenities and great selection of entertainment and dining experiences. Would definitely go back again.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: NOT Impressed!!!! May never return!

Where do we start? NO HOT WATER! (building 204) 10 days was no pleasure! Staff/maintenance did not address. Everybody just shrugged their shoulders??? Cold water shower took about 20 minutes to drain from the tub. You don't stay in long when the water is so cold!! Mold was evident on the bath tub caulking! Not addressed??? Dripping water from the bathroom ceiling....the solution provided was "turn the air conditioner on!" We froze! It would have been appreciated if staff spoke basic English [... read more]!!! Very difficult to communicate with anyone.. A mountain goat would have difficulty traversing the grounds with all of the stairs. We required a cane to assist! Swampy sewage smells were abundant around the complex! Don't put 21 university students in the same complex unless you would like to be woken up at 2 and 3, and 4 AM!!! every night for 5 nights in a row!! A safe for valuables should be included in the inclusive cost price....not $3.00 US a night! The negatives far outweighed the positives at this location!

Sunscape Coco Punta Cana: Excellent

I have no complaints about this resort ( Be Live ) . It was the best service we have had in all our travels. We stayed in the V.I.,P. section. The staff was excellent and friendly and made the tourist interact with each other. My husband's only complaint was there not enough mashed potatoes and not enough shade coverage, otherwise amazing.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Great food

The resort was pretty much as we expected based on the reviews. The food was the best part, and the rooms were also very clean, although dated. The staff was all friendly and the resort did not seem overly crowded. Beach was not the best, but we knew that. Overall, a very good value.

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Great resort but could be made better

This is our first visit to this resort and our fifth visit to a Grand Bahia resort. Overall it is a great resort, beaches ,food and rooms are all good. It is a fairly quiet resort especially at night. To bring this resort up to Grand Bahia standards they have to improve the service at the lobby bar and the buffets restaurant, some of the service was excellent but it was very hit and miss. We would definitely return to this resort and recommend it to friends.

Catalonia Bavaro Resort: Great resort!

Great suite, very good king bed, excellent food, lots of variety, staff outstanding, great staff on the beach bars and towel/beach boys. Beautiful beach. Very friendly (not to pushy) staff selling excursions. Read less

Sensatori Resort Punta Cana: Good family resort

The resort itself was stunning and the service was wonderful. If you do not want to be around a very large amount of small children during your vacation this resort won't be for you. If you are a family with small children, not many resorts will beat it as it is a Nickelodeon resort with a gigantic water park. Keep in mind that the main pool and all the restaurants except one are NOT adults only. Only your building will be adults only if you have requested it. We had a swim up room which was good the second week as the first week we were in building 7 and the sun never hits the swim up on that building and it was freezing. We changed to building 8 for the second week which was a great temperature as the sun shines on it all day. Being able to stay on our patio was wonderful (no children).

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Beautiful Resort

The Grand Bahia Principe Punta Cana is a beautiful resort . Part of a huge conglomerate, it only a small part of a huge resort area. The grounds were beautifully kept, lush and well groomed. Our room was lovely, clean, large, and nicely decorated. The beachfront area is very big, and always was kept clean . The pool area was huge and always looked well used. Washrooms were always clean and well looked after. Only disappointment was the inability to book al a cartes. Seems one has to book prior to your trip. The conceirer want helpful in any way. Although our package was privileged we didn’t really have anything different than the norm. Lastly the waitstaff could use an upgrade in their language . They rarely understood your request or inquiry. We learned that a large resort isn’t as personal as the smaller ones we’ve been to in past.

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Great place

Overall great resort, foods good, grounds are well kept, servers are very good at the buffet especially Luis and Ewardo. Beach is nice but sand isn’t as nice as other beaches in Dominican, lots of little sand flies. Only thing I didn’t like is all the bars shut down at 11pm but the disco bar which is about a five minute walk down the resort driveway away from all the rooms, and about ten minutes after the entertainment they shut all the lights off in and around the entertainment area and hal [... read more]l ways. But overall very good resort for the price, definitely recommend.

Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Punta Cana: Amazing Vacation at Hard Roch

Just spent a glorious week at the Hard Rock. This hotel is amazing. Beautiful beach, good food and the people that work there are wonderful. Recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to relax on a beautiful beach or hang by pool. This Hotel is worth the $$. Cheers out to Gracie and Gladys by the Central Pool! Best servers in Punta Cana!!

Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine: Amazing resort

Staff very friendly and helping. Bahia Village very enjoyable place with multiple local people. Resort very very clean. Pool environment was amazing. Entertainment team very fun. Bartenders very fun and knowledgeable.

Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: wonderful vacation

We enjoyed the resort. Food was good, The staff where amazing. It was nice having different pools to choose from. If you didn't want to join in with the activities, you could go to the quiet pool Also an adult pool. Room was good. We had no complaints. Bus ran out of beer on the way to the resort LOL. Again give the staff 110%. They treated you so well and made sure you where totally satisfied.

Riu Republica: Very nice

The food from the buffets to the restaurants was excellent with lots of choice. The Asian restaurant was our favorite. The drinks were absent of any liquor unless you specifically asked for it to be added which we found odd. Our room was fine and in a quiet wing of the resort

Dreams Dominicus La Romana: Dreams Dominicus - Romana - Great place

Hotel and amenities were great. Nice rooms with modern touch. Amazing food, nice beach and pools. Restaurants didn't require reservation which was unusual before trying it, but it worked and there was little to no wait time and no limits. Overall 9 out of 10.

Wyndham Alltra Punta Cana: Many good features but not worth the price

FIRST IMPRESSION/STAFF There was good and bad. Upon arrival the first thing I noticed was that the resort may have seen better days long ago in the 90's perhaps because the décor and colour scheme is tired and outdated. Crew ar [... read more]e out there manicuring the greens consistently, wait staff clear empty glasses and cups and its never in a disarray. If cleanliness and manicured shrubbery and plants is is your thing, you will be very happy about this. POOL/POOLSIDE There is one continuous pool that goes through the entire resort in a lazy river sort of style. it isn't deep, my children were able to stand up in it so if you like pools with a deep end, you won't find it here. The pool was always clean. The bars around the pool are well-serviced also and wait staff come around quite often to take orders which was fantastic! LOUNGE CHAIRS This one is a negative. For the amount of money we spent to stay at this resort, our expectation is that there should never be a battle securing lounge chairs by the pool . We like to begin our day at the beach and spend the afternoon by the pool and so we found that often, we had to scour the resort for free chairs and sometimes were unsuccessful! This was frustrating. People would get up early, leave their towels on the chairs and take off for hours. The hotel does have a policy in place where if you leave your personal belongings unattended for over 15 minutes, they will remove them but I never saw this practiced. Not to mention, I think that time frame is too short because if you leave to have lunch for example, with every intention of returning, I don't think you should lose your spots in 15 minutes! Kind of dumb, they need to just stock up on more chairs. ROOMS/HOUSEKEEPING The rooms were nice enough. I've been to cheaper resorts with larger, nicer rooms. We did get adjoining rooms which was ultra convenient. The linens and beds were just okay.. again, not what you would expect when spending the amount of money charged but they were clean. We were celebrating a landmark event on our week away and we had to request champagne to be left in our room. No extras were provided even though the staff were made aware by our agent that we were celebrating so that was a disappointment. I've stayed at cheaper resorts in Cuba where everyday, there was some daily creative decorative art using the linens left behind,sometimes chocolates etc. The maid missed the window to clean our room twice during our one week stay! We were up early and out the door, returning once after breakfast to gather our things for the beach so we left our "clean room" door sign on from about 9:30 am till 4:30 everyday. 4:30 was when we went back to nap before dinner. In our opinion that was ample time to tidy our room but like I said, twice we returned and our room hadn't been made up. That to me is a HUGE fail for the standard expected at a hotel that charges so much! You want to charge top dollar and get repeat business? You need to deliver that standard continuously or reviews like this one will keep popping up and your clientele will slowly diminish. DINING This is the one area where I saw a positive difference from cheaper all-inclusives. I would say this is about the only thing that stood out and sort of made it feel a bit better that we spent so much. (A "little" better). Daily the breakfast buffet was stocked with options. Items were fresh, hot, well-stocked and there was always enough. Same thing at lunch. No long line-ups to eat on the week we went but perhaps if the resort were busier, that would have been a possibility. I'm not going to say the food was gourmet but the a la cartes weren't just buffet food, presented in a different way like many resorts try to pull. You actually have different items to choose from. My favourite a la cartes were Oceana and La Trattoria. The Grille (steakhouse) gets mixed reviews but my family liked it. You don't have to make reservations at the restaurants in advance or at the beginning of the week. It's first come, first serve which we quite liked! We never waited very long for a table. Its not a culinary experience or anything but food is good enough that you won't starve and the desserts are the highlight! Everywhere you go there is dessert and delicious! SMOKING The hotel allows smoking in the open-air areas of the property. To us it was bothersome but if you're a smoker you will love it! I mean, it's 2019 and with all we know about second-hand smoke and how harmful it is, and with this being a "family resort".. I don't think this is a positive. Smoking should be enjoyed outside. I get how there needs to be an area for this but in a café where different people are sharing the space, it becomes very intrusive and annoying!!! This smoking policy is as outdated as their décor! ENTERTAINMENT Firstly I need to comment on the entertainment staff. What a fantastic group of people! They did what they could with what they have and the shortcomings in the entertainment were not their fault at all as I have no doubt they would rise to the occasion if given the opportunity! . Special shout out to Pokemon!! This guy was everywhere all the time, making your day brighter, acknowledging you every chance he got and making you smile! Way to go Pokemon!! SO this is the reality..Two nights were great. The circus night and the Pirate show. Other nights were weak. I have to give props to Cuba for entertainment as this resort made them look like American Idol !! In Cuba the talent is stronger in my opinion. Of course I need to exclude the carabret style singers in Cuba which make everyone cringe to watch but I am talking about the magic, dancing or acrobatics in Cuba.. they are just much tighter!! As a result of the weak entertainment at this resort, nights were a tad boring. We had to resort to being creative to have fun. We would just talk, play games and have drinks and that was fine but again... "THE MONEY SPENT" .. you'd expect more dazzle entertainment-wise! BEACH The beach was okay. IT wasn't perfection like Cuba (you can tell I love Cuba) but it was fine. I think the most annoying thing was the vendors trying to sell stuff to you but even this wasn't overwhelming. The beach was well-manicured but for me being a beach gal... I wouldn't want to spend another week on that beach. Water wasn't crystal blue, sometimes it was dark and murky. There are much nicer beaches out there but this is the Atlantic, not the Caribbean!. This of course bares no reflection on the resort itself but worthy of mentioning. If you're more of a pool person, maybe this will be a non-issue for you!
