Melia Marina Varadero: Great time

My fiancee and I had a great time here. Excellent service, nice rooms, close to the beach, good drinks. The buffet was very good for breakfast lunch and dinner. The food at the formal reataurants was not as good and I would recommend sticking with the buffet or exploring Varadero for local options once in a while

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Beautiful Resort!

Resort felt very classy. Everything was very clean and well kept. Staff was very helpful and friendly. The beach was amazing! A good variety of food choices. They assign you a personal butler who helps you with all of your restaurant bookings and anything else you may need. Entertainment was great! It was a wonderful relaxing week. Would love to return!

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: 1st time in Cuba

Property: beautiful gardens/grounds...very well kept Food: decent...not fine dining, but enough selection and quality was fine Pools: good, lots on adjacent property, hot tub only warm Beach: lovely when not very windy Rooms: good, comfy Service: amazing...they do what they can to make sure the guest is helpful...Melissa was the best by far!!

Starfish Jibacoa: Nice Resort

My wife and I enjoyed this resort. The snorkeling is great. The beach is beautiful. It's only an hour and fifteen min. to Havana. However, it's not for everyone. If you want luxury - this is not the resort for you. No marble counter-tops, no concierge and no gravy. But what it lacks in luxury, it makes up for in character.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: Excellent place

This hotel was absolutely perfect! The people were nice, treated you like family. The food was not so bad at all, entertainment was amazing every night. The walking distance to the beach was breathtaking. The service was good. The only complaint would be the access to WiFi, it's very poor and a little tricky, but not the biggest problem. My overall experience at this hotel was just amazing and would come back again!

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Amazing Resort and Stay

Was impressed with all the facilities. The staff were very pleasant and very helpful. Staying at this resort seven days isn't long enough to enjoy all the facilities. The pool area and activities held were well organized and put together very well. The night life and staff made our vacation by entertaining everyone and ensuring everyone left the evening with an enjoyable evening.

Gran Caribe Sun Beach: Great location...fun people.

Realize this is not a 5 star!....so with that in mind it is great for location, staff is friendly, beach is stunning, and it is close to markets, resturants and entertainment! The rooms are clean, and the dining area and lobby are kept nice. For the price ot is well worth it.

Playa Vista Azul: great resort for first trip to cuba

Very clean and well kept. Staff were polite and helpful and worked hard. Bars and pool were fun, food was OK to good and the seaside cafe was nice. Musical entertainment was excellent. Tourist bus stopped right outside the hotel

Starfish Jibacoa: Villa Tropical Jibaco - Quiet restful retreat

Beach & grounds were simply beautiful, service was fair to good. Food was fine, mostly cuban dishes, a bit repetitive for a two week stay but never went hungry. Waitresses and staff were pleasant to deal with and did their best to accommodate any requests for exra pillows etc. The rooms were neat and clean, large showers and always hot water. Stayed in room 6, beachfront view. Mini Fridge in the room and the AC worked great :) The reef is very large and beautiful, the wind can be a problem [... read more] as most days it was RED FLAG day... if the wind dies down enough to get out to it, it is worth the while to see it either snorkelling or diving. Dive Centre on site, 25 CUC per tank dive, dive master was very attentive and safety oriented. Equipment is of course older but he did a thorough surface check and buoyancy check. Bring your own snorkelling gear, no rentals at this resort. Small store located on the premises, it has a bit of everything. Money exchanged at front desk no problem. I was not expecting to pay extra for a safe, so be prepared for 2 CUC a day rental. Checkout is at 12;00 noon, so just a note... if you leave your room on that last day your key or safe will no longer work after 12:00 noon. Lots of friendly resort cats and dogs on the property. Very casual homey feeling. Great little restaurant approx 2 km off the resort called Marios for lobster tail dinner. he will come and pick you and return all included for 15 pesos. Tour Havana by taxi, approx. 60.00 CUC for the entire day, he takes you were ever you want to go and stays or waits with you all day.. Ask for Umberto, speaks english very well and he is very knowledgeable tour guide. I would consider this resort again... it is very small resort geared towards a quiet, relaxing stay.

Hotel Los Cactus: Loved the food

This was our first time to cuba and we were told that the food sucks! I thought this resort had a good select of food at the buffet, good enough to last a full week and not get too sick of it. We had 3 other options for dinning but you had to book for them. Lunch options were a buffet or a bbq that had hotdogs and hamburgers and the main chef there Hector was a fantastic guy. All activities they had going had very limited people participating. Could of just been the people that were there...not sure.

Playa Caleta: disappointed!!!

Well to start off we booked the bellevue puntareanas. We got put next door at the playa caleta. I have stayed at both of these places before but never again. For 7 days i had no hot water, cold showers everyday not fun. The elevators didnt work half the time. The food omg was awful. Like i mention ive been here but its really got bad. The bathrooms never had toilet paper. The bar was located in second floor. Bathrooms were on first floor. I travelled with two friends that need walkers so this  [... read more]was a problem for them. They couldnt use the stairs and elevators didnt work most of the time. In the morning we had to go to the next resort for coffee because coffee machine was broken than return back for the breakfast buffet that was god awful. ...on the upside , the staff are very nice and try to be as helpful as they can. We meet some very super nice new friends and beer was cold lol. Next year we will try somewhere new but i will miss the staff.

Palma Real: Palma real ALWAYS the best place

Hotel Acuazul: varadero 1st timer

i travel for a first time i hade the oportunity to get a great deal for a 10 days vacation at a two star hotel in varadero cuba. from booking online to the flyght and arrival to the hotel everything went easy and fluently nice. at the hotel people welcome me and reconforted me as i wasnt to sure of what i was to expect in a foreinght country. all the staff at aquazul is super frendly respecfull profetional ressourcefull and have alot of experience plus they are all qualified to work in the resor [... read more]t industry as they are also bilingual. the hotel amenitys are very clean 2 bars pool living room with cable tv for sports fans also a play room with pingpong pool tables and minifoot, the hotel have a stage for live shows at night and a dj for music during day and evenings great atmosphere.. also the hotel have a very nice a/c dinning room buffet style were there is all types of food from local to international dishes meat chicken fish pasta bread yogourt eggs delies cakes fruits etc....very nice my room i fiund it was big medium with balcony a safe box cable tv hot water but i found that the room need a liltle work as is outdated old blinds paint was chiping old a/c unit old doors very outdated so i tryed not to spend to much time in the room. the only proble i hade its that varadero is near a petrolium facility wich at night around 2am they exaust gazes in the air and you can smell it in all the varadero area is so strong that i dint sleep for 4days as they relise this gazes every night its really strong that it gets you sick with constipated nose caugth just like if you hade a cold i was there for 10 day the first weak this did not hapen until one night it started and i hade to live my room caus i thaught there was a gaz leak but reception told me it was the petrolum facility and that i hade to get use to...wich not in 100years i could get use to that besides that varadero is extreamly safe frienly extreamly clean fun lost to do lost to walk the beach is amazing varadero is a very lovely place but the petrolium fumes ruins it i never in my life smelled somethig so strong i hope they do somethig about this really quick it is very hazardous

Playa Vista Azul: Amazing resort

Staff was great they were friendly and always helpful. The room was comfortable it was always a surprise as to what we would see after the maids did up our room. The whole resort was well kept we enjoyed our stay.

Playa Vista Azul: A wonderful stay at Ocean Vista Azul

I would highly recommend this resort. It was very clean in the rooms and all around the resort. There were constantly people cleaning all aspects of the hotel and pools etc. The food was actually excellent. There was a buffet restaurant, which was awesome, and 3 other a la carte restaurants, which were all good, but 2/3 of them were awesome. The pools were beautiful and bars and bartenders amazing. There were two beaches, one was a little rough and one was very beautiful. There were nightly show [... read more]s by the amazing dance team. The only area where this hotel needs to work on is to have alternative entertainment in the case of rainy days. There wasn't much to do in those situations. Also, Internet access was pretty good, but sometimes it would act up and take a bunch of tries to get on. All in all, I would 100% recommend this lovely hotel and for sure return there again.

Starfish Jibacoa: Great Place. Good Snorkeling

Ive been to this resort twice now. I come here because the snorkeling and scuba diving is good. The rooms are always clean. The service is good. And staff are very friendly. The food has gotten better since my first visit. I will come again.

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: A Gem!!

The hotel is quite modern and very, very clean! The people are wonderful and friendly. The food was good (for Cuba). There was a nice selection at the buffet and the a la carte restaurants offered a little change from the buffet. The buffet had omelet and crepe stations in the morning. Lunch and dinner offered fresh fish station, pasta station and fresh pizza. You will not go hungry here. The bar service was great. Never had to wait for drinks, even when there were a lot of people there. [... read more] The pool was nice. The foam party was great fun! The beach was beautiful and clean. There are many palapas to sit under, so there was never really a problem finding shade, if you wanted it.

Sol Palmeras: Myth: People don't go to Cuba for the food

With 3 previous trips to both Cuba and the Dominican, we simply thought good food in the Caribbean was impossible. WRONG! The food at Sol Palmeras was amazing. Not only was our plate full after a walk through the buffet line, but many, many nice options never made it to our table. A la cartes included the Steak House, Mexican, Italian and Chinese. Didn't make it to the Mexican, but assume the fajitas were good. The beef fillet at the Steak House was amazing. Chicken parm was tasty at O Sole Mio  [... read more]and the Chinese food was authentic and delicious. Our original room in the main hotel was alright, but the fridge made a loud bang and the bed was less than comfy. We had requested an upper floor and both our son's room and ours was on the ground floor. Our son upgraded his room to a bungalow on the 2nd morning and when we saw his, we did the same for an extra 120 CUC's. Unfortunately, a couple we met on a Havana excursion told us they got an upgrade to a bungalow as well - FOR FREE! Lots of great beach. Many palapas. Ping pong, tennis, giant chess & Connect 4, and lots of other activities. Nightly entertainment a little weak. Cuban internet is a pain. Overall, absolutely great value and highly recommended.

Muthu Playa Varadero: Resort was okay but the people are wonderful :)

The hotel is a bit dated but they do their best with what they have. Some maintenance in the common area bathrooms would be great (no toilet seats in the men's and missing some in the women's). Entertainment is quite good. Magic show night was awesome. The food is okay... could always find something to eat. Tuna sandwich at the snack bar was yummy! Big hugs all around when you leave. Bring them what you can... we brought toiletries, bras and underwear. Everything is appreciated. Beach was nice but the water was a bit rough (stormy weather) - we still went in. Some sellers on the beach but nothing too invasive. They leave you alone when you ask. Day trip to Havana was great too.

Resonance Blu Varadero: Didn't meet our expectations - was the worst Cuba experience we've had

We stayed at Memories Varadero from Oct 25 - Nov 1, 2016. It rained for a good part of 5 of the 7 days! While the staff were friendly and the resort appearance and beach were very good, here are some of the things that we found wrong or unacceptable with the resort: 1. Food: Very limited selection at the buffet, a la carte restaurant and snack bars. The buffet food that was supposed to be hot was actually cold because they put it out too far in advance of the restaurant opening; there was [... read more] limited variety and sometimes they ran out of a "staple" item - even though the resort was only about 30% full. 2. Room was dated: no hot water - only lukewarm; mattress was very old - lumpy with bedsprings sticking up; no coffee maker in the room. The resort is quite large and since our room was in a building down at the beach, the long trudge to the lobby bar for early morning coffee was treacherous due to very limited lighting along the footpaths. Towels - we only received fresh bath towels 4 days after we checked-in. Since it rained a lot, we spent a lot of time watching TV - the TV was old with very limited English speaking channels available. 3. We had Diamond Club service, which meant we were suppose to get "waiter" service at the beach. The two times we were able to spend some time at the beach the waiters never came around. Diamond Club is not worth the extra money. 4. The snack bars and beach bar closed early - sign said open 'til 5:00pm - they closed at 4:30pm. 5. Activities pool was dirty - not quite enough water in the pool to make it to the skimmers. I never saw anyone vacuuming or cleaning the pool the whole week. As a result there was always lots of hair, and gungy stuff floating on the surface. Yuk! Even though we got a good $deal on our trip, there are not enough good things to say about this resort, so we won't ever go back.
