Hilton Cancun All Inclusive Resort: Not my favourite

I have been to many 5 star resorts in Cancun and Mayan riviera. This is one of the few I wouldn’t return to. The hotel architects/owners have obviously optimized managing guests , food, entertainment and repairs for maximum efficiency (for the hotel). So for guests it lacks interest//charm/variety. The hotel gives an impression of cleanliness and modernity but this is in large measure simply because it is only four years old. The same large dead moth remained on my floor for the duration. Th [... read more]e pool is difficult to access and the jacuzzis dirty grey every day. The “swim-out” pools are just plain weird. Shallow and hard to access. Hotel management attempts to charge preposterous prices for the few special activities like “tequila tasting” that would be free elsewhere. Honestlly, it’s like hotel management is under pressure to make/save $ and they don’t know how/can’t. On the plus side, the rooms and showers are spacious, tvs large and the hvac system is excellent. Staff aims to be professional. Beach is not the worst.

Grand Oasis Palm: Hotel review

Hotel is dated. No chairs at pools. Food was not good. The slides in the kids section were only open for 10 mins everyday. Beach was dirty every morning. Nothing for kids to do at night. I would not stay here again.

Grand Oasis Riviera: Grand Oasis Akamal Review

The hotel was beautiful..our room was huge..and cleaned perfectly every day. The food was excellent. However the beach was terrible .all coral and rocks. You absolutely need water shoes. Quite a steep entrance to the ocean, I fell every time getting in, and out. But the snorkeling is fabulous! The hotel has a very poor departure system . You need to sign out by 12 noon. You are told if you don't get to the buffet by 12:30, you will not get any food til your bus leaves. Mine left at 6:10. So  [... read more]no food unless, I paid for a late checkout..$45. US til 2:00 pm or $65 US. Til 6:00 PM. STRICTLY a money grab. I will not be back to this hotel again!!

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: It’s ok, what you pay for

Rooms were not great, toilet ran the entire time we were there.Al a carte restaurants were great, Buffett was just ok. Bar service was very good, entertainment was good but the Black and White was very loud. Staff were friendly and most went the extra mile.

Friendly Fun Vallarta: Great Vacation!

We have nothing bad to say about this resort. Food was quite good and the service was very good. Staff is second to non with drink service throughout the pool and beach areas. Our room was kept very clean and well stocked.

Decameron Los Cocos Guayabitos Ramada: Relaxing fishing village

A gentle bay of small waves heights and wide sandy areas. The hotel is a true 3.5 star hotel regarding amenities however serves excellent food and is very clean. The staff is always helpful and very capable. With visitation to the other Decameron properties in Guayabitos included giving a perk to increase variety for one’s trip. Lastly the clientele is 60 percent Mexican and the rest seem to be Canadian.

Grand Oasis Riviera: Great Snorkeling right on the hotel beach

The hotel was nice.They are still renovating and most of the renos are on the adults only side. The hotel is small so there is not a lot of walking. The service in general was great. The food was ok. There was always something we liked. They did have chicken nuggets at the buffet for lunch and breakfast. There is also a little restaurant by the pool area which had a little buffet (fajitas, pizza, fruit and veggies) and the burgers, hot dogs and french fries. The coffee bar is great. The beach [... read more] is not as long as the pictures-the one side is rocky so not a lot of people swimming on that side. There is definitely not enough beach chairs for the non adult side -by 9am. They did have a little show most of the nights-but we never went so I can’t comment on that.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Amazing and so glad we went back!

We truly love the Occidental at Xcaret! This was our second trip and although the weather did not cooperate fully, the service and resort did not disappoint! Can't wait to go back again! The grounds, the park, food and people truly make you want to continue to visit again and again!

Riu Tequila: Review – RIU Tequila, Playacar (Stayed February 2026)

We stayed at RIU Tequila in February 2026 and were very pleasantly surprised by the overall quality of the resort for the price. The grounds are beautiful, well-kept, and have a lively, fun atmosphere. Our room was modern and nicely updated in black, red, and white tones. Housekeeping was excellent—very thorough cleaning every day, and the towel figurines were a cute and thoughtful touch. Food was abundant and good quality. The wine was surprisingly good, and the in-room alcohol dispensers and well-stocked minibar (beer and soft drinks) were convenient, even though we are not big drinkers. The hotel is not directly on the beach, but it’s just a short, pleasant walk through the grounds. There were plenty of beach chairs and towels available, and no need to wake up early to reserve spots. The beach restaurant was great, and the fresh fruit selection was a highlight for me. We had a small issue at check-in—the toilet wasn’t working properly—but we reported it to the front desk and it was fixed quickly and professionally, which really impressed us. The RIU Party was epic! We attended the White Party and it was one of the best resort parties we’ve experienced—fun, energetic, and comparable to a quality nightclub atmosphere. Overall, we were very impressed with the value, service, and quality of food and facilities. We would definitely return. Playacar itself is wonderful—safe, perfect for long walks, and very convenient with nearby markets, shops, pharmacies, and even a Starbucks.

Sunscape Puerto Vallarta: Amazing resort

Very nice resort , excellent service nice clean room and very good maid service , we really enjoyed our 2 weeks vacation. This is the resort we stayed on our first vacation to Puerto Vallarta , used to be Holiday Inn.

Riu Palace Baja California: A very relaxing getaway

We had a wonderful time! Food was very good, no issues finding seating at the buffet. Poolside chairs and finding shade was abundant. I wish pool chairs were padded for more comfort. Rooms were one of the best we’ve had, recently renovated. Karla and Javier were some of the nicest hotel staff we’ve ever encountered! Cafe is a fantastic addition, with varying treats available throughout the day. Decameron La Marina: Amazing resort!

Rooms are very clean and fresh towels and water provided daily Staff are amazing and friendly Buffet has a good variety of food and menu changes for dinner Great beach and kept very clean Could use more beach loungers especially when the hotel is very busy/booked

Grand Oasis Riviera: Wonderful Resort

The resort was beautiful, small and easy excess to all activities. Rooms were beautiful spacious and well kept. The coffee shop was amazing and the hard working staff friendly! The activity staff were the best! Would like to make a shoutout to Andrea, Gabrielle, Cindy and Tony who made our beach days fun! The beach was very rocky and hard to get into the water. Our pick up time to leave the hotel was 6:10 at night and to be told that we can no longer use eat or drink was disappointing! Usually they cut bracket but your checkout ticket allows you to use all facilities to you leave!

Iberostar Selection Riviera Cancun: Amazing resort!

Great and friendly staff! Very many activities across the resort. Staff are always around to play mini games, offer you a drink or invite you to different activities. Incredibly good kitchen, with a wide variety of food. The menu theme changes every day, but a lot of items remain the same. Overall we liked it very much!

Occidental Cozumel: Mexico honeymoon

Grounds were nice with wildlife and birds. (saw a wild pig) Bars were fine. (not enough indoor seating) Food was good. We didn't do any Ala Cartes and my wife didnt have a dress to bring and pants rule on men was not enforced. Our ground level room was good but only 2 double beds made us cramped as we sleep together. There is enough room for 2 queens. No face-wash clothes supplied and they would not give me 1 to shave with as they are for Royal members only. Shower was good and lots of hot water [... read more]. Main pool at beach was chilly due to previous cooler weather. We loved the beach and snorkeled there 3 times. All and all we would recommend this resort and give it a 3.5 rating. Transfers were on time and resort closer to airport which was nice. Staff were all friendly.

Krystal Grand Nuevo Vallarta: Mediocre resort

The entire resort was dated and showing signs of disrepair. Open holes near pool bathroom facility where pipes were being replaced. Drip from ceiling in buffet which became an all-out water leak and partial closure. Plumbing fixtures in our room were old and rusting. Our room required a thorough cleaning. Dirty light switches, floor, sticky surfaces, dirty handles, balcony door, etc. Food was underwhelming at best. Buffet did not have avacado or guacamole, poor selection, and no change in i [... read more]tems or theme for entire stay. Three a-la-carte restaurants were also mediocre. Pools were nice and bed was comfortable. Entertainment was family friendly.

Barcelo Maya Tropical: Beautiful resort

The resort was very clean with very friendly staff. Food was good also especially at the specialty restaurants. Rib eye steak was amazing! Beach was nice, but very rocky, so water shoes are a must. Double decker bus available to take you to different resorts My only complaint about this resort would be lack of signage . Bus ride from Tulum airport was about 2 hours!

Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: OK resort - great location, great beach

We were in Block 2 in an oceanview room - the room furnishings had not been updated but it was very clean and comfortable with Air Condioning, a mini fridge, an electronic safe, electronic key card entry, bathroom with shower ony and small bottles of shampoo, conditiner and lotion along with small bars of soap provided. They also provided one large bottle of water daily and if we happened to see the maid in the hall she was happy to gie us another. The a-la-carte restaurants were all very good, we tried the Japanese, Thai, Mexican and Italian. We did not find the cocktail list to be quite to our liking so stuck with beer, wine and sangria. My only caution is this - security will go and remove all of your belongings from the lounge chairs if someone is looking for a spot and you have been "gone too long".... how long is too long? who decides?? this is the problem.... we told security that the people who were beside us on the beach one day had just gone for lunch, but he either did not understand or did not care- scooped up all their things and when they came back from lunch they no longer had a spot... not really my kind of vacation vibe - why dont they just get more chairs?

Occidental Costa Cancun: Love this resort!

This was my 5th time at the Occidental Costa and still love it. Fantastic staff, especially Juani, Antonio and Sandra. They go out of their way to make you feel at home. Food was excellent, beds comfy, the resort layout is so great...not too big and not too small. So convenient to have the Ferry next door. The beach has changed a bit and a little more rocky but I think that probably goes for everywhere. Water is still calm which I love. The pool and beach entertainment could offer a little more  [... read more]variety and missed having the afternoon entertainment at the beach. i.e. the comical stuff where guests are involved. Overall a great place and I will be back again.
