Cayo Levantado Resort: Near perfection

Such a beautiful tropical island. We loved the layout of the resort and the fact that it has been kept as natural as possible. The villa rooms throughout the small island are quite luxurious with most having ocean views. The pools are gorgeous and the beaches though somewhat small are wonderful for walking. You can always go to the public beach which is larger and if you go early in the morning or around 5:00pm and later , you have the place to your self. The Eurostars Grand Cayacoa: Loved the Resort!

This resort is beautiful, lush, and very well taken care of. We stayed in the villas in "1000" room range and loved it. The only thing I would caution about the Villas is the stairs. You must be able to do lots of stairs. The villas also have a pool, nice and quiet and lovely. There are 5 pools at the resort and 2 beaches which makes it easy to move around and always find a spot for the day. This is a smaller resort which means no line up, lots of variety, and really lovely. I wouldn't recommend [... read more] for families though. Just my opinion. I wouldn't bring my boys (age 6 & 7). There are more couples as opposed to families. The restaurants are all great including the buffet. No Complaints about the food at all! The food was great. The resort is on many elevations, however they have a trolley that will take you around if you don't want to walk.

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Lovely setting!

The hotel room we stayed in was very nice but quite small. There was not much room to move around in the room due to the king size bed. The shower leaked a lot whenever it was used and we had to soak up the water with towels. We did not get any facecloths in our room but others we asked had them in theirs. The buffet was great and had plenty of selection. The food was delicious! The a la carte restaurants were exceptional! Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Beautiful resort

The grounds of the resort were very well maintained. The gardens were beautiful, the beach was cleared of garbage leaves etc. constantly. The staff were amazing, always wanted to please. The disappointments were the house wine, it was terrible - I can't believe the organization would even consider serving this type of wine at a 4 star resort. The wifi was only available for one hour daily in the lobby, but if you purchaed a $70us card you could have unlimited for the week, and I believe that wou [... read more]ld be from your room. The rooms are large, very musty but it is the island. Great location with a very long beach which leads right into Las Terranas. We were advised not to walk the distance because some of the beach is deserted but we felt safe. Overall is was a great holiday.

Bahia Principe Escape Samana: Wonderful relaxing resort!

We had an exceptional vacation - just a beautiful resort, with breathtaking views. our balcony in the junior suites had the most spectacular ocean views - we slept to the sounds of waves every night! It is a small and quiet resort. perfect for relaxing! Only downside is that it is close to the busy road, so traffic noise is heard in the room. Cayo Levantado Resort: it's a keeper

This is without a doubt the most beautiful all-inclusive resort we've visited. The grounds and the rooms are exceptional, and for the first time ever, we weren't sick of the food by the end of our stay. We'd return in a heartbeat - also a first for us when it comes to all-inclusives.

Beautiful beach and resort with incredibly friendly staff. Food and buffet was amazing and the excursions made our trip memorable. Our only issue was with cleaning staff who often forgot to give us towels.

The Eurostars Grand Cayacoa: Outstanding resort!

We were a group of 6 women aged 39 to 66 years and we had a blast! The accommodations at this resort are first class, clean and in great shape. No repairs needed anywhere that we could see. The staff were awesome! What ever we needed, we were responded to immediately. The Dominican people are beautiful people both physically and in spirit. The only shortcoming for all of us was the beach. It's not the nice wide sandy beach that you can walk for miles in the sunshine on. But the pools made up for what the beach lacked. We would most certainly return to this resort again.

Lovely resort, we had a wonderful time. We were offered a free upgrade to Luxury Bahia Principe Don Pablo Collection which was fantastic as well. Best holiday ever! Portillo resort was family with wonderful beach, Don Pablo was luxury adult resort close to Samana and Barcardi Island. Recommend both.

Wyndham Alltra Samana: Customer Service < Beach

We went to this resort as VIP guest due to it being our second time there... ZERO customer service to ensure we had a great trip was given even with this " gold vip bracelet" WIFI: did not work the whole time we were there, the 1st time we were there they did not have wifi just a desk top computer which worked fine... this time they got rid of that computer and had wifi that did not work at all so there was ZERO checking into your home once your got there which was unsettling for me as I had a  [... read more]puppy back home that I wanted to check on. Hotel: The room was basic, there were a couple cracks and holes in different places but the door locked and there was a wash room and a bed to sleep on. As well as bottled water and refreshments in the fridge. Our rooms security lock box was completely broken so that was something that really bothered me as I always put my important things in a safe box when I go down south. But due to full capacity I was unable to do so this time... The room did not come with a blanket only a sheet so we had to then walk to the lobby just to request . They do not tell you a number to use to call the front desk you always have to walk up. Beach: Nothing to complain about , beautiful, palms everywhere and white sand and turquoise water for miles. CUSTOMER SERVICE: * long story short * We arrived on a Sunday, we were having a pretty OK time , did not really understand this VIP thing and never really were given any special treatment or a nicer room if anything we were given the trash room that they give out only if they HAVE to . We did not complain because we thought we really liked this resort we did not want to ruin our trip so we just slept, woke up , put beach towels out, read our books and swam in the ocean. Day 5, our friends who live in puerto plate called the resort to get a hold of us letting us know they got a air b n b beside our resort and wanted to come visit us. We were so happy as we are from Canada and do not get to see these friends very often. We met with JUAN CARLOS FRANCIS one of the general managers of operations of the resort to ask if it was okay to allow our friends to visit , WE WILL PAY we said so they can come and enjoy some food and drinks and what not. Juan Carlos said he had to make a couple calls ... the next day we met at 10 am , Juan Carlos told us it wouldnt be a problem we would pay 3600 PESOS for day passes starting at 12:00 am midnight till the next night at 12:00 am . DONE DEAL we said we were very excited . Our friends come to the resort , they drive so the security guard at the front gate allowed them to enter, then allowed them to park then allowed them to walk through the lobby then to our room and then into the disco where all 4 of us were then escorted to the front lobby because our friends did not have bracelets on and they were in the dico with us the manager on duty at the time did not want them on the resort and said we had to pay a fine of 3900 pesos ... and then we would have to leave or they would call the police. safe to say we paid the 3900 extra pesos and left the resort but I will never return there is no communication there , the manager who kicked us out would not come and talk to us he had this poor man who had no idea what was going on handling his problems through the walkie talkie. We had our friends with us who spec fluent spanish to tell us what they were saying and pretty much the manager that was in the disco was saying for us to just give the one he didnt want to come deal with the problem. NEVER AGAIN GRANDE PARADISE. also i could talk about about this place on this same story because it took 5 hours of our time that time but i gave you the condensed version

Food was great,very professional staff,rooms very clean .Me and my husband did celebrate 25 th wedding anniversary and Joseleiro make our day perfect. We have to thank Josefina,Yohania for their excellent service .Also Carolina from the beach bar was an amazing person ,very polite and always happy to see us .

Wyndham Alltra Samana: Over all for what I paid good deal

Food was good ,Rooms were okay little trouble with toilet no queen size bed was unable to push them together ,water was always available to many tree for me water a little weedy ,drinks were okay Servise very slow don't be in hurry for a drink

Cayo Levantado Resort: Tropical Paradise

I was pleasantly surprised. The grounds at the resort are immaculate. It is very lush, the beach is small but we never had a problem finding chairs in the sun or shade under the many palm trees. The drinks are very good, and the service is excellent. The hotel is spread out so there is a lot of walking, or if you prefer you can take a cart around the resort.

Cayo Levantado Resort: Fantastic Holiday - Great Resort

My wife and I recently spent a wonderful week at Cayo Levantado with 3 other couples. We have been to the Dominican Republic many times in the past, a number of which were Bahia Principe resorts. I must say, this was my favourite spot. The island setting is incredible. We were all looking forward to a week of relaxation and "getting away from work", and the Cayo Levantado did just that. We never had to search for someone to help us with directions, get a drink, etc. They were always there for us. The restaurants were very good, especially the Rodizio. I would highly recommend that you book this one a couple of times during your stay. The food was excellent, and plentiful. The Don Pablo is also a must during your stay. The morning buffet was very good, especially if you have the chefs make you up a special omelet or something else to your liking. Service by the staff was excellent. The grounds were beautiful. It didn't take you long to walk to anywhere, but if walking is not your thing, the tramcars were always there to take you to where you wanted to go. The paths were well kept and the greenery was immaculate. Lots to do around the beach. Kayaking and paddle boards are available every day (and included in the package). Lots of fun and a good workout if you have the desire to try to kayak around the entire island. We did the Zip Line adventure in Samana and it was excellent. It was my first time zip lining but the others that went had all done it before and said it was the best zip lining they had ever done. Good long runs (and many of them). The balance of the trip was very interesting as you got to see a lot of Dominican culture on your tour back to the resort. In speaking with other guests that we met, all of the tours (especially whale watching) were excellent value for your money. Overall, a VERY good trip and an excellent resort. People can always find fault in every place you stay, but there is very little to complain about at the Cayo Levantado. We will definitely look at coming back, and I have been preaching the virtues of this resort to friends and colleagues ever since I returned. Wish I was still there!!!

The Eurostars Grand Cayacoa: Hard to Beat Views

There isn't really anything bad I can say about this resort. I have stayed at many resorts including Hard Rock in Punta Cana and this one was my faviourite. The views are just breathtaking and can't be beat. Because you are in a bay the ocean is always very calm, warm and great for swimming. The food was great and they always had a great selection. The one gourmet restaurant was by far the best and had the best steak I have ever had. If you were older the stairs might be a problem but so long as you are in the main building you should be fine. The night shows were pretty good and they do have a Disco at night that I never went to but obviously places like Hard Rock would be better if you like the party scene but this place was perfect for us. Also even though the hotel was sold out, there was never more than maybe 10 people in the pool, almost never had any trouble finding a seat in the shade at the pool or the beach, and there was never a wait for the restaurants. Also the fact that the resort is right off the city is awesome and very different from any other resort I have ever been to. I will 100% be going back to this resort!

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Dominican nice retreat

The hotel was not too large so therefore not overly crowded on the beach. Overall the hotel was quite nice with 2 relaxing outdoor sitting areas. Buffet area was a little tight for space when trying to look at what to eat. You had the option of eating indoor outside which was nice option. It took sometime for tables to be set and serve beverages which from my perspective was due to the lack of servers not the quality of service. Food was good but not great. Cayo Levantado Resort: Great week with friends

The resort was beautiful, and both the rooms and common areas were kept spotless.The buffet food was good and the a la carte restaurants were very good. The beach was where we spent most of our time and had no trouble getting loungers .The pools were clean and refreshing when trying to cool off from the hot tropical sun. The staff was always friendly and helpful. Cayo Levantado Resort: Perfect holiday at an almost perfect resort

Best service and beautifully maintained. Perfect holiday but almost perfect resort. Only real complete is that the buffet food was always cold when I would eat it. Some bones in spaghetti sauce and the quality of buffet is so so. The a la caste were great. No complaints.

Bahia Principe Grand Samana Roulette: Very nice resort

Small hotel with very friendly staff . Beach is very small . Life music Entertainment on the terrace was very good . Food was very good and hotel was very clean . The water pressure in the bathroom shower was law and water was not very hot . Overall the resort was very nice and we were enjoying our vacation there .

Bahia Principe Escape Samana: Hidden Gem

Small hotel. All Superior rooms and junior suites have an ocean view. Beach is small, not condusive to water sports. Food was good, especially Don Pablo a la carte. David our butler was superb. Very good place to relax. Not much night life which was fine with us. An adult only which we love. Hotel is very clean, staff very friendly.
