Grand Oasis Riviera: vacation almost ruined

I picked this hotel mainly because of its beach, calm waters all year round from the reef that protected it. When we got to the hotel after 6 hours of travel, we were greeted by the news that there was no room for us and that our only choice was to be transferred to another hotel. Thank god for my cell phone that i was able to call/email/text Tripcentral and I am almost sure that when they saw I was not going to back down, they told my partner that for $70.00 a night, they will upgrade us to a b [... read more]etter room. At this point, we were tired and so angry about the ridiculous situation that I said if you will move us to another hotel, then I want to be moved to a hotel of my choice and not what they would pick for us. After a few more exchanges of words, we were finally given one of their rooms in the adult section (Sian Kaan). The room was nice and big but i didn't like the fact that we had it cleaned in the mornings and we would come back after dinner noticing that our room was oddly fixed again. We tried three of their a la carte restaurants and they were good. It seemed that most of the staff weren't too happy working there, only forces a smile and hello as you greeted them. During the busy hours in their buffet restaurant, it seemed that they were always short-staffed. After that initial confrontation with the front desk staff on the very first day of our vacation, it pretty much dampened our demeanour and I could honestly say that we will not go back to this resort.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: A beautiful resort!

What can't I say about this resort? The rooms were clean as well as large . The grounds immaculate with lush vegetation. The food was amazing and available 24 hours a day. I loved to snorkel in the ocean. Seen many tropical fish. Many wonderful restaurants to choose from with a wide selection of food. Entertainment was available nightly. The hospitality was exceptional. Would absolutely go back again.

Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya: Beautiful resort in Akumal!

We recently staying at the Grand Sirenis with myself husband and 2 daughters (age 10 and 13) I loved the rooms, was looking forward to the jetted tub but did not fill properly but by the time we got someone to look at it we would have been gone. We were in Acat building on the top floor which was nice. Quiet at night. We loved the beach no through traffic. So just us guests. The grounds are huge and beautiful and best part was a 5 min cab ride to Akumal. We did not book any a la carte meals as i [... read more]t meant talking to our concierge and they were quite pushy on the timeshare. Wasn't a priority anyway and we like to eat whenever. Check in was a typical Mexican upgrade and playing shuffle with rooms but in the end we were happy with our room and declined the upgrade. We were charged for internet which we knew ahead of time no prob and did not use the safe and had no problems. I would highly recommend this hotel it has it all and the location cant be beat for eco tourism opportunities. I don't know if well return as we like to try a different resort each time.

Amazing Location, friendly staff always a hello and a smile from everyone. Food and drinks a 5 star Amazing beach and crystal clear water to snorkel and lots of fish to see. Tram ride to beach area was a first for us but we met lots of people on the rides.Tram ride operators friendly as well shout out to Luis!

Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya: Excellent Resort

This resort was referred to us by our travel agent, Laura Spry from Trip Central in Sudbury, we asked for an all inclusive and adults only, Valentin Imperial Maya certainly is a five stars plus. The service was amazing, staff were helpful, courteous, friendly and ever so ready to serve you. Waiters all paying attention to your needs, on tiny details and/ or when asked are ready to offer their top choices from the menu. The beach sand soft to the feet and great for those long walks. I give this Resort 5 stars plus and ready to return any time and of course highly recommend Valentin Imperial Maya as your destination Resort.

Grand Sirenis Mayan Beach: Best trip ever !!

I have been to Mexico 9 times over the last 15 years and this trip was the best so far! The service, hospitality, food, cleanliness of everything and quality was second to none! I loved it so much I bought a travel package with Sirenis. Thank you for the experience and I will see you in the very near future!

The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Great experience!

Grounds - overall feel of the resort: We loved how lush the grounds were - lots of vegetation like trees and plants which gave nice shade and a sense of being in 'the great outdoors' rather than a concrete jungle...Many options for pools and shallow parts for the kids to play in, but we spent most of our time on the gorgeous beach where there was white, soft sand, and not too busy. Beach: There was a drop from shallow to deep water almost right away (and then it got more shallow again) in  [... read more]the swimming area so we had to right there beside our small kids when they ran to the water to dip their feet or wash their hands. Staff: Most of the staff were very friendly, but some more than others (smoothie lady was crusty with me - but then very friendly with the next customer who spoke Spanish). Food: Buffet was a bit limited in terms of size and options and that's where we ate for the most part because of the kids (slow service at other restaurants - very slow in the thai restaurant and my mom only got served her food when everyone else was done, at the sushi place). But it was yummy at least. And I liked eating the fresh-made tacos at almost every meal anyway. Entertainment: Night performances started pretty late (9:30pm) but our kids loved dancing to the music so we stayed up late as a holiday exception. No extravagant shows/performers, and a much smaller entertainment area than we're used to seeing at other resorts (no stage and big audience area - they'd just set up a few chairs in the area around the lobby/shops). But it was fine, just different. Room: We had a 1-bdrm jacuzzi suite and it was huge! We appreciated the sliding doors between kitchen/living room area and bedroom/bath area so the kids could nap on the one side while we walked around on the other, hung out on the porch area etc. The pull-out couch was super uncomfortable as a bed but did the trick when we needed it. The humidity caused a urine-like smell in the kitchen area (at least I think that was the cause?!) but we didn't spend much time in that area so I didn't stress about it. All in all we loved our experience - first trip with the family (kids ages 2 and 4, and we brought the grandparents!) - and we'd return to this area and this resort specifically, in a heartbeat.

Ocean Coral Riviera Cancun: Great Resort

The resort is beautiful, very well maintained - we loved the fact that it was not too large so that everything was in walking distance, no more than 5 minutes. The food was excellent, from the numerous restaurants to the buffet, each offered well prepared and tasty options. Premium liquor was available upon request at all the bars, and wine selection for purchase if the "house" wine was not to your liking. The nightly entertainment was well done, not your typical resort shows; each night offering a different performance i.e. Lion King, Cabaret, Grease and Il Divo type trio - great. There are 4 pools from party, family, kiddy and adults only - something for everyone. The staff respect "no" if you are not interested in participating in the pool activities. We would definitely recommend this resort and consider returning in the future.

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Amazing resort

My husband and I went for the first time ever on a tropical vacation and we loved it. We are already talking about where to go next. The grounds were clean. We saw in building 9 on the 4 th floor where someone had left their tray by their door. That was disgusting but besides that it was great. The staff were perfect in every way. Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: A beautiful resort

We arrived at Sian Ka'an and my husband asked if we could get an upgrade. We ended up staying at Akumel in Building 83 which was still all adult luxury accommodation. We did eat, golf and wander the grounds at Sian Ka'an and found it to be above expectation. We also have a friend that stayed there and raved about how nice it was. We golfed four times and the golf course is kept - as everything else - in impeccable condition. El Dorado Seaside Suites: Fantastic Resort!!

This was the first out of country trip my husband and I have been on in 20yrs and 5 months. We booked a trip for our 20th wedding anniversary. The resort was more then we imagined. It was stunning, and everyone was so friendly. We were sad to leave b/c we know we may never again see the amazing people we met. And I mean the people that worked there. There isn't one bad thing to say about this resort. This was an amazing time away and I wouldn't hesitate to suggest family and friends to go and experience El Dorado Seaside Suits for themselves. We are hoping to return ourselves one day in the near future! :)

Ocean Maya Royale: Great holiday

We enjoyed our stay at the Ocean Maya Staff were very friendly, the resort was clean and well kept. The food was good our favourite restaurant was the Blue Moon special thanks to Caroline and Adrienne. His Mayan coffee was the best! Entertainment in the evenings was professional not the activities staff and was very good. The resort went all out for the Super Bowl party -decor , big screens great themed food and lots of Coors light! We had no problems getting lounge chairs on the beach everyday [... read more] and enjoyed long walks down the beach. Only downside was they need more bartenders and could only get wifi with iPad in the lobby. Phone picked wifi up better even on the beach.

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Not enough Mexican feel

Despite being only 2 years old, the resort felt rundown. Despite being a suite,the room felt no different than what you would get at a best western. We were constantly being harassed by people selling timeshares anytime we left our room. Despite saying no, they continue to persist. Not enough activities for kids 9-12. All kids activities are geared to younger kids. No, Mexican feel to the resort. The music playing was all top 40. The restaurant options for lunch are lacking unless you [... read more] are sitting in the pool area. No snacks throughout the day which makes it hard when you have kids. This was our first trip to a resort and based on what was offered there we were very disappointed.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Good resort

We were booked for Sian Ka'an. However, when we arrived, the front desk officer stated that they had no room for us. For the first night, we stayed at Sian Ka'an, could not unpack, and late afternoon on the following day, we were transferred to Akumal. We liked Akumal for its proximity to the ocean, and Sian Ka'an, for its food. The transportation between both resorts was excellent and efficient, and the arrangement worked well for us. Air Transat had a glitch with the transportation to the  [... read more]airport on the last day. The bus did not come on time, and I had to contact my travel representative with the inquiries. When the minibus finally arrived 30 minutes late, six travellers with their luggage felt like sardines in a can during this 1.5 hour trip to the airport. In overall, good resort. I would give it 4 stars.

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Good time

The resort itself was very nice. Pools were clean, rooms very nice. Did not like the people selling time share, very bothersome. Food was okay. Lots of choice at the buffet. Hunter's steakhouse was okay, food could be hotter. I would give the service at this restaurant a five, could have been better.

The Reef Coco Beach: Reef Coco Beach

The hotel was kept clean, staff were very friendly. Liked the layout of the pools and lounge areas, fun activities going on daily and pretty good night time entertainment. Negatives were a few issues regarding our room. These problems were brought to the attention of the reception desk but were never dealt with. The safe in our room was never fixed so we could not use it to safely store our passports, etc. The fire alarm was chirping during the night the first two days there. Someone came  [... read more]in to fix it the first day but the problem was not resolved so the second night they came and removed the battery entirely and that is how it stayed. Plumbing could use an upgrade. The day we arrived we were not given the correct information regarding the cost of the a la carte restaurants. Wifi was also very expensive.

Iberostar Selection Paraiso Lindo: First time returning to a resort ...so worth it

We visited here 3/4 years ago and it was so good we decided to return to the same resort which is a first for (we usually try a new place every vacation which is 2x a year). Iberostar is def taking their guests whole vacation experience seriously as they have improved the food and night shows. The only improvement left would be pillows and mattresses ;)

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Fantastic Resort

This was a fabulous resort. The layout of the resort was beautiful, three hotels within the layout was amazing. It was easy to get from one place to another. The food was excellent, the choice of restaraunts was amazing, the pools were beautiful. I liked that we could go to the quiet adult pool or the larger swim up pool. We spent most of the time at the beach and it was great. It was easy to get a chair to sit on in the shade or sun we didn't have to compete with people for chairs because the b [... read more]each area was so large there was lots of choice. We ate at 4 of the restaurants and 3 of the 4 were excellent. The Italian, Spanish and Seafood restaraunts were amazing. The food was excellent and the service was great. We didn't like the Mexican restaraunt as much because the music was too loud and the air conditioning was too cold. The buffet restaurant was also good, lots of choice and service was great. We found staff at the hotel very helpful. We didn't get our choice of room when we first arrived but we spoke to the front desk and asked if they could change it. We had asked for 2 beds and to be on the second floor. They were able to accomodate us after we were persistant which was appreciated. There is even snorkeling off the beach. I think this resort has almost everything. The only complaint I have is that wifi is not available unless you pay extra. I think this should be included.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Awesome

The food was fantastic. We've been to Mexico 8 times and by far the food was the best at this resort. We would stay here again in a heartbeat. The staff were all helpful and efficient. The rooms were clean and made up in a timely manner. My only suggestion would be to build a bar area that you can sit at down by the pool area. Not all want to sit in the lounge chairs. We sometimes like to sit right at the bar.

Over all beautiful resort grounds will great people and great food. Would definitely go back again in the future. Dont get a room on the first floor cause of the bugs; but theres ko elevator so anyone requiring accessibility needs would get stuck with ground floor.
