Gran Caribe Sun Beach: Amazing

I found the hotel rooms to be clean and well kept. Considering the hotel is under construction, the grounds are well kept and the staff were friendly. I would use these accommodations again. l was quite surprised the food was quite good as well as the entertainment.

Hotel Los Cactus: great time

Having been there several times we love returning to the breezes and we particularly love the staff. They always make the effort to remember you and go out of their way to make you feel at home. I like the proximity to the golf course. When there is an issue they are very quick to correct it and always with a smile. .

Starfish Jibacoa: Stay away from this resort!

It's not our first time in Cuba, so we know not to expect amazing food and such. I'll give you a point form... .arrived at 9pm. No one helped with luggage or to show us to our room (in the dark and pouring rain with hungry kids). took us almost an hour to find all 4 rooms. . the buffet closed at 9:30 so we were out of luck to get something to eat. . No toilet paper in the rooms. Had to go to the front desk 3 times to request toilet paper for our room. . Towels were hand size and looked lik [... read more]e something you would use to wash your car. . Rooms were infested with red ants and cockroaches the size of mice. EVEN in the beds. Everyone is covered in bites. . The food was way below even Cuban standards. . There was a huge lack of food. Once a tray was empty, it wasn't replaced or replenished. Just removed. . If you didn't arrive when the buffet opened, you were basically out of luck. . The powder mashed potatoes had to be eaten with a spoon if you were actually brave enough to eat them. There was no fruit. No salad. . The food was not labeled, so it was a guessing game. The hours of the buffet were even terrible. . there was very few snack selections. Same thing everyday. Burger or ham sandwich. The men's bathroom in the lobby didn't have toilet paper. instead there was a magazine that you could tear strips off to use to wipe. (Swear to God!) The staff were grumpy and rude. . All the furniture around the resort was broken. An arm, a leg or both. Carefull sitting down, you might fall through. . We had to climb through a window to access the deck to the beach because the door was broken. The beach was littered with water bottle and plastic cups. You can't swim in the water because of the coral. Great for snorkeling. We demanded to be transferred to a different resort. We had to pay extra to leave. The transat rep, Ronaldo, was amazing!

Sol Varadero Beach: Great Place

This was my 3rd trip to Cuba and Sol Sirenas Coral was the best. It is a older hotel like most in Cuba but the amenities are great. The room are very clean like the rest of the hotel.the staff are very friendly and honest. The pools are also clean and the swim up bar in the main pool is fun. The food is not bad but it's Cuba. No I know it says all inclusive but tipping is greatly appreciated also little gifts from the Dollar store like toothpaste deodorants and shavers are appreciated and makes  [... read more]your service even better and don't forget the housekeepers. Memories Jibacoa: Wonderful Resort!

A smaller quiet resort with impeccable grounds. Surrounded by beautiful mountains. Wait staff were excellent and the buffet was quite nice. It is a short ride into Havana, just 40 minutes. Old Havana is a must see while staying at the Jibacoa. We will definitely return for another relaxing holiday!

Muthu Playa Varadero: Surprisingly nice resort

Hotel was very nice, rooms clean. Pool was cleaned every day. Food was okay, got a bit boring a few days in. International restaurant was terrible. My steak was maybe 1/4" thin and mostly hard gristle. Beach was beautiful. Staff for the most part was friendly. Grounds were immaculate and beautiful. I would recommend this resort to anyone. Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: A Beautiful Oasis

This is my third time to the Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero...I was there May, June & October 2016 and cannot get enough of their hospitality. The Manager Francesco to the butlers Jose, Hanoi, Able, Mauricio could not do enough and all recognized us. Great fun to reunite and with Tony driving the electric carts. The service in the lounge and restaurant at the sanctuary was outstanding, always a smile from the staff, very attentive and food was well prepared. All the staff including the animation leader Betsy, pool attendant Denis, pool bartenders & beach staff and bartenders could not do enough for the guests....so pleasant and always wanting to do more. The facilities at the hotel are great especially the cappuccino/lounge & the well maintained pool. Cannot emphasis enough the wonderful staff. It was a great hotel to stay and experience. The food was very good although the Cuba night dinner was not my favorite....I did love the lobster dinners, gala night, white party and the candlelight dinner at the pool though!

Sol Varadero Beach: Disappointing

The staff was amazing, very friendly and very sweet. The beach and the ocean were gorgeous. Otherwise, it was not a great experience. There is not a whole lot to do on the resort unless you are willing to spend a lot more money. The nightlife was a let down, the shows were not good. I know everyone says the food is bad, but I feel it's worth noting that it is almost inedible. Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Amazing Resort

I would strongly recommend the Royal Service. The suite was very clean and spacious, our butler Ernesto took care of all of our needs and made our stay exceptional. I look forward to returning. The restaurants were very good especially the French restaurant.

Palma Real: Great resort for money

Hotel was very good people were very good to all, grounds are amazing pools clean and music amazing. Location of the Hotel Palma Real is perfect Next street Cali62 Cuban music every night, three blocks away the Beatle bar music from the 60s to 90s Havana club next door for club dancing and excellent restraunts within blocks.People front desk very helpful every night place still under renovations but things are still under control

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Best Cuba Resort So Far

Stayed Oct 23 to Oct 30th- Suite Room approx $1300/person. Ive been to a few Cuba hotels in Varadero and loved this the most! Grounds were big, well kept, tons of pools- and they were clean! Staff is amazing and theres a lot of them. Drinks are strong enough, bartenders and servers are there to please you! Room was very large, 2 bathrooms, end suite. So many great shows at night and daytime activities (ie dance practise, soap/bubble pool party, synchronized swimming) - by far exceeded my expectations. Lovely lady at the buffet served us, Yoania, she was like our Cuba mom. The food- we all know Cuba food is mostly bad, but the food here was horrible, nothing was hot. Trays would come out of the kitchen that were cold with cold product. But the A La Cartes were good, especially the Romantic onel. Mushroom and shrimp was good. At the japanese the entertainment was great. During the day the snackbar behind the main building has great sandwiches! Weather was not on our side but we did get to get a Geocache one day. Will feinitely suggest this hotel to my friends! Overall rating 9/10 for the price and value. The people who worked there really made the great experience. I will be visiting an Iberostar brand hotel again!

Hotel Los Cactus: Great resort, bad food.

Hotel and grounds are great. Staff is awesome as always. The food was always cold and really bad. Breakfast was OK since it,s hard to spoil an omelette. Potatoes, brussel sprouts, vegetables, all cold.

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Best Resort

Amazing staff the people make this resort the best place I have been to in Cuba. Food was better than expected with a lot of variety including an amazing salad bar Rooms were spacious and the beach was fantastic

Palma Real: AMAZING RESORT

The grounds and pool were perfect. The beach was a short 2 minute walk away. I am an extremely picky eater and I found something I liked to eat at every meal. The staff were attentive and friendly! I plan to go back to this resort in January.

Melia Las Antillas: Nice resort

We liked this resort. Nice size, the rooms were clean and nice and the food was excellent. If looking for an adults only resort we would return. The only thing I would complain about is that we had to wait to check into our rooms. After a very early flight we just wanted to get to our room and relax.

Melia Las Antillas: Amazing resort

The first time I laid eyes on the buffet I knew we came to the right place. It was colourful, tasty, and a variety of different foods. More choices of vegetables to. And the best was the fish, love fish. The lobby was nice and big. The pool was nice and at this time of year it was warm. We love the beach. My husband and I always walk the beach after breakfast and it was nice to be able to walk on a beautiful long and clean beach. Being a diabetic I like to go bare feet and not step on or around  [... read more]seaweeds and other things.Our room was nice but maid could do a better job by actually cleaning the shelf over bed and the mirror over sink. They were never done. We had water leaking over the sink , had to get someone in to open ceiling up as the pipe to air conditioner had a build up of condensation. They did not come with flashlight so my husband stayed and helped the guy with our flashlight and my husband helped with fixing the problem. We came to this resort to celebrate my sister and her husbands 30th Wedding Anniversary and was happy to hear the resort treated them to champagne in their room and a romantic dinner. (Thanks to our travel agent Carole Williams) as I mention to her the reason why we were going. 😊 Being an older resort some renovating could be done. There are a couple of things they should improve on #1 at resort, is turn on outside lights by the rooms around the time when people are leaving with luggage early in mornings not everyone has good eyes and i worry about seniors falling. #2, at the airport speed up the incoming line going through those customs doors. We had a early flight into Cuba from Toronto, tired and had to wait in a hour line. Not sure why it takes so long to look at passports and paper we had to fill out. Then go through those doors to another long line to put carry ons and other belongings on conveyors to get scanned. Then wait for our bus to take us to resort. over all we did have a great time at this resort? We also went into Havana and had a great time touring there.

Hotel Los Cactus: Excellent Resort

The most enjoyable part of my stay was the interaction with staff. Everyone was friendly and went out of their way to satisfy any needs or concerns. The 2 bedroom suite we had was very comfortable and the cleaning staff kept the unit clean and fresh. Food was very good, they have a new chef, a lot of Cuban dishes mixed in with typical Canadian dishes. All in all excellent value for the cost and I plan to make many more trips to this resort in the future.

Brisas Del Caribe: Wonderful resort!!!!

The hotel room was very clean like home. Our chamber maid, Melba did a wonderful job everyday cleaning our room, fresh towels and making our bed. George the chef, made our omelettes perfect every morning. Just filled with toppings. The bartenders were great. Made our drinks perfect and always knowing what we like to drink. The wait staff were great and friendly. Alberto and the girls knew exactly where to seat us plus bring us our drinks. Every meal was great. The security staff was excellent. [... read more] One of the security guards there name George was awesome to talk to. The staff at coffee bar knew exactly how many coffees to make every morning as soon as they seen my husband come around the corner with the coffee tray. This is a wonderful resort. It's comfortable, relaxing plus the staff there make you feeling like family not just guests at a resort. We will be returning again next year.

Barcelo Solymar: 4th and LAST time @ this resort...

Spent last week at Barcelo solymar in Varadero. This was my 4th time to this resort. It has been 3 years since previous stays and many things have changed... When we arrived at 11am on the Saturday we were told that our room would be ready for 4pm which is the check in time, fair enough. Well they didn't end up giving us our room till 5pm and at this time I asked to confirm it had a king size bed and the receptionist lady replied with I dunno... I told her this was my 4th visit to this resort [... read more] and that didn't even phase her. It's like she didn't even care. We stayed in a bungalow and the room was terrible. Air conditioning only worked half the time, no remote for the TV, you could feel every spring in the mattress and the pillows were rolled up hard foam. We had the worst sleeps of our life. The washrooms in the lobby were under construction only leaving 1 public washroom in the hotel for everyone. This washroom or the ones at the pool bar never had any toilet paper either. The service at the buffet/all the bars/cafe were terrible. Took forever to order anything and seemed like you were inconveniencing them. My last complaint is the ignorant vacationers there... 80% just butt in front of you at the front desk and in the buffet lines. Maybe my Canadian manors should have been left at home. The only positive thing I have to say about this trip is the beach and ocean were great and the lifeguards are always great to chat with Andy & John. Grand Memories Varadero: Mixed reviews

It was very beautiful on sight but then when you got to your room , sadly disappointed with the neglected look, shabby curtains, bedspread , shower rail broken resulting in falling out of tub, slight musty smell ...the food was okay for me but hubby got sick , outside absolute beauty and the fun and the dancing outside is good , wine ran out early every single day and night , bottom line , we had high hopes but won't be returning sadly
