Melia Las Antillas: Good time. Awesome beach !

Had a great time. Food was cuba good and no issues at all with it. Staff was unbelievably friendly and kind. This was my 4th trip to Cuba in 2 years so I have a bit to compare to. Hotel is a very small resort and everything and everyone was close by. I liked that. No walking for miles to get breakfast ! Hotel was rated a 4.5 star... Well maybe more like a 4 ! Rooms where big and comfortable but very run down and old. Was livable and we managed fine ! Very much worth the price we paid !

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Cuba trip *Paradissus Princepessa de mare

Hotel - ok needs a renovation broken tiles, lights were missing Food - ok some food served cold, limited assortment, Service - fine Beach - beautiful Night entertainment - great This is not considered a 5 star hotel.

Occidental Arenas Blancas: Aweful Resort

The Solymar made you feel very unwelcome. The staff was not happy at all and treated you like they had better things to do. The resort was nice looking from the lobby and the rooms were nice but, that was it. All of the washrooms on the main level where the restaurants and coffee bar were, were always dirty and had no paper. You had to go to your room to use the washroom. In the bathroom in your room you had no water pressure to shower and the water temperature was always tepid. The food i [... read more]n the buffet was always cold. We made sure we were the first in line one night to see if we could get hot food but, it was all cool. The buffet also never changed. The same cold food and cold desserts. We went to Cuba last year and stayed at Grand Memories and the atmosphere was much better. They treated you like they really enjoyed having you there. The food was typical Cuban food but was hot and changed nightly in some way. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Beautifull Scenery Resort!

Very nice resort, we have a relaxing time while vacationing in Varadero. Clean and tidy, common areas very well kept, rooms need some improving, bathrooms specially need updated, better take your own soaps and shampoos. There is lots of options for food 24/7 and people are very educated, nice and cordial.

Resonance Blu Varadero: Fun for less

I stayed in a suite which I loved. Two bathrooms, a sitting room, ocean view and a comfortable bed. There is enough of a selection of food to fill a person up. Bring your own hot sauce and it tastes much better. Drink selection is limited because there isn't much for mix.The staff is great whether it is the wait staff or cleaners. Acknowledge them and you will be looked after.

Barcelo Solymar: I wanted to go home!

We recently traveled with Transat Holidays for a week (October 2 – 9, 2016) at the Barcelo Solymar in Varedero, Cuba. The tour representative Mayelin was wonderful. She was resourceful, welcoming, approachable and kind. Unfortunately, as much as she advocated for us with the hotel, she just could not overcome the deplorable standards of the hotel. After all our past positive experiences with Transat we feel very let down with the Barcelo Solymar. In fact, we actually feel for the first time [... read more], that Transat has deceived us. We booked two bungalow rooms and had the following issues; • Neither room had a coffee maker, ironing board or iron as stated on the Transat Holiday website. It took 3 days to get a coffee maker in both rooms. In one room the coffee maker they provided us did not work. They also did not provide spoons, sugar or even coffee mugs for one of the rooms. It also took four days to get an iron and ironing board. • When we arrived one of the rooms mini bars was not stocked as stated on Transat Holidays website. Twice during the week, the same mini bar (water, beer, soft drinks) was not stocked. • In one room the bed only had a bottom sheet and blanket. No top sheet for the first two days. • When arriving back in to one of the rooms the drapery rods and drapes had fallen from the wall and were laying on the floor. • There was two days without water. We were using the small trash containers from the room to fill up with pool water to flush the toilet. We also had issues with other parts of the hotel as well; • During the entire week, we were there none of the public washrooms had soap, paper towels or working hand dryers. • Per the Transat Holidays website were we suppose to able to use the facilities at Arenas Blanca, however, the resort was closed. • Hence, we were expecting 5 al a carte restaurants (2 at the Barcelo Solymar and 3 at Arenas Blanca) however there we only two open for the entire week as the Arenas Blanca was closed. • Twice we went to the pool bar and it was closed a few hours before the actual hours it was suppose to be open. Also, although your website stated 24 hour unlimited domestic and select international drinks we could only get beer after the other bars closed.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Nice rewort

The resort was built wisely for rain and winter season (5). No umbrella is needed to get to the restaurant. It is still in a very good condition. The beach is perfect (5+). The staff is nice and helpful (5+). The food during the second week was OK (4).Just keep in mind that the end of October is not the right time for a Cuban vacation.

Melia Las Antillas: Resort grounds Amazing

The grounds are amazing. The beach was wide, clean, great sand, amazing waves. Start every morning with a walk as long as you want on the beach. Staff was very friendly at every restaurant and bar. Quick friendly service. Rooms were fine. Bed was king size and comfortable. Our shower needed repair, but in a group of 12 we were the only one with a problem. Very close by cab to the town of Varadaro where you can visit the market and a great outdoor bar named The Beatles. What a blast.

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Amazing Service and Staff

Service- butler staff, diamond club restaurant, beach jazz club all outstanding. Resort-beautiful gardens, the grounds staff take a lot of pride in what they do, the sunset side of the hotel gardens are stunning. Rooms- fridge stocked daily, clean sheets and towels daily. Rooms are good size, 2 person bath tub in the bathroom. Music-jazz club music-awesome. Beach-the best of the best, you can walk for miles. Diving-good, only available pending weather

Playa Vista Azul: Cute,Modern, clean

Staff were all super nice and very accommodating. Buildings and grounds, very well kept. Pools were great. Unfortunately the beaches were not great due to recent storm. Personally, we were not struck on the layout of the resort, everything seemed to be housed in the one building, restaurants, buffet, bar and entertainment, but again not a deal breaker.

Grand Memories Varadero: A very friendly resort! And, it's huge!

Impressed with the friendly welcome. Beautiful grounds, meticulously kept. Amazing pools (afternoon entertainment a bit noisy). Buffet was decent, typical of most all-inclusives, I believe. Room was clean but dated (doesn't reflect the modern public areas). Nightly entertainment in theatre was good, energetic and fun. It's on the end of the peninsula so walking into the town isn't an option. We had a great week with friends.

Occidental Arenas Blancas: Horrible Resort - Could not wait for Vacation to end

Was at the Barcelo Solymar Obtober 19-26 with our family. It was a group of 6 ranging in age from 20-70. Our group had all traveled to Cuba previously at least once and most more that one trip. Me personally I love Cuba, the people, Culture. If the Solymar was my first trip to Cuba I probably would have never gone back and all members of our group feel the same. The upside. Th [... read more]ere was some roofing work going on but that was well contained and never a problem. The Downside... 1) Staff. Considering one of the things I love about Cuba over most other "Resort" destinations we have visited is the people. The Staff at this place are horrible. Outside of 1 or 2 people we came across the staff were very unfriendly and not very Helpful. At many times the staff were down right rude. Case in point, on our last day our 20 year old decided to get a manicure while we waited for our departure. After the manicure the woman said she needed to pay at front desk. So my wife went with her to pay as her nails were still wet. she stood there for 20 minutes while 3 different people would not take the money telling her it was the other woman's job. My wife finally said that she did not care whos job it was she just needed to pay. At which point a woman walked up snatched the bill and the cash out of her hands without saying a word and walked away. This type of experience was evident throughout the resort by all levels of staff. 2) Rooms - The safe in our room was half ripped out of the wall and only held on by one bolt, The sliding patio doors were so sticky it took 2 people to open them. Both our room and our Daughters room the handles on the sliding doors were broken and not usable. Hot water was something we had none of the whole week nor water pressure. Generally in resorts we are used to low water pressure but at least can get by with a warm shower. The water in all 3 rooms never got to even warm status. Again we tried moving showers around hoping to find some point in the day or night where we could get pressure or warm water. But never happened. We were on 4th Floor in main Building and pretty much every light bulb was missing in the hallway that connected our rooms and he elevator. Which left you trying to find your room in complete blackness most nights. 3)Food Everyone knocks the food in Cuba, we always knew what we were getting and had never had issue on previous trips. We always knew stick to fish and pork and it would be generally a decent meal. This trip set an all new low in quality of food. The selection was so repetitive but worse was it was always freezing cold. We tried hitting at the start of dinner, middle and end and it made no difference. The food was cold and poorly prepared. Again we always found a positive at every other resort we have stayed at in Cuba. But by final day we just stopped eating. Ala carte - We had Mexican and Italian. They were both at least hot meals but nowhere near the quality we had elsewhere in Cuba both on resorts and off. Entertainment - the nightly shows resembled more young school children putting on a made up show for their parents. A Cast of Dancer's walking around lip syncing songs they don't know the words to becomes tiresome show after show. Which is a bit of a shame since a number of the dancers were actually quite talented. If they had allowed them to dance to the numbers rather than pretend they were the original artist it might have been quite good. We are used to traveling in low season as my wife and my anniversary is in this time period. But there is nothing to do at this resort after the show ends. Pool Bar, Lobby Bar, Cigar Bar all close. Leaving the Disco which was so bad that even most the younger crowd chose to sit out in the dark by the pool with their own blue tooth speakers. Which led me to discover passed out drunks laying around the pool when i would go for a morning walk at 6:00am. Which has you wonder what security actually was doing. But also lead us to returning to our rooms by 11:00pm wishing there was something else to do.

Club Tropical: Really good resort

Well his is a small hotel, right in the centre of Varadero. If you have mobility problems this is good hotel for you . Very close to the beach, pool, bar, restaurant. Very little walking, only a few stairs to climb for a room. Only problem is the cleaning, have crease or smoke on bathroom ceiling, asked for it to be cleaned. Maid did nothing, front desk did nothing, manager did nothing. If you stay there and are in room 1102 I wrote the date and my name I stayed here. Roc Arenas Doradas: Amazing Second Stay

We visited this resort back in 2014 and noticed a lot of improvements. Great new buffet, new air conditioners and Flat panel TV's in rooms. Very clean public washrooms. A la cartes were all great! We only found issues with Internet spotty but hey you are on vacation!

Barcelo Solymar: Good

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Oct 16 to 23 2016

The resort is very nice when you arrive. The rooms however are in need of updating at least. We had a room that had no working A/C. Lights didn't work, our phone didn't work, it smelled moldy and the toilet didn't work We went to the front desk (since we had no phone) and we were given another room which was a great improvement. From that point on it was a great week. The staff are all wonderful and friendly Unfortunately there was also construction being done but it didn't spoil our week

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Not a 5* at all

We were not impressed with this hotel. They say in Cuba a 5*(star) is really a 3*, but last time we were in Cuba we stayed at a 4* and it was better than this hotel. It was all the little things that they missed; too many to list. Would never stay there again.

Grand Memories Varadero: Great resort

The service at this resort was fantastic. We were treated so well. Many of the servers remembered our names and and were always friendly and professional. The landscape is beautiful and very well kept. The food at the buffet had many choices and the food at the al a carte restaurants was excellent.

Hotel Los Cactus: Great Resort but needs maintenance and better food.

Cuba was great yet again, this was my second time at this resort. This resort has amazing staff,pool,beach,bars and over all atmosphere. I do have some feedback. 1.The food is horrible. Barely eatable. While I understand they are catering to European and north american tourist its not done well. The Cuban THEME day food was AMAZINGGGGGG. 2. The maids who come by the room in the morning about 8am are extremely loud. They have full conversations with each other and don't care if guests are as [... read more]leep. 3. We stayed in room 623 and it smelled horrible upon entry. very musty. ( the mop used to clean the room left a horrible smell each day) 4. There were roaches. 5. The bathroom ceiling was leaking, bathroom lights were leaking water .Ceiling looked like it would fall at any moment. We brought this up to management and they sent someone to fix it in 30 mins. which was a band-aid on the situation to be honest. The bathroom was poorly cleaned. otherwise we had a great time. Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Hands down the best resort!

Firstly, the service at this resort is top notch. From the moment we arrived we were amazed by the service we received from all of the employees. They were always making sure that we were having a good time and that we had everything we needed. Secondly, the food at this resort was fantastic. Everyone always complains about the food in Cuba, but the food was great. Always hot at the buffet, and always a nice variety to choose from. Overall, this resort is by far the best resort I've been to out of 5 different resorts in both Cuba and Mexico. We will definitely be going back again next year!
