Royalton Punta Cana Resort: 5 star resort

This hotel is very beautiful, and is definitely a 5 star. Accommodations were amazing, in the diamond club swim up rooms Food was pretty good for the most part. Beach was fabulous.. Our kids..7 and 10 loved the big waves. Not so good for babies Butler Daniel was amazing and always around Swim up room number 1431 was the closest to the beach...very amazing Could hear waves at night No theft all. Wendy our cleaning women was perfect

Grand Sirenis Punta Cana Resort: Mixed feelings at the Sirenis Cocotal

Upon arrival, we thought the resort looked beautiful, well maintained grounds, large lobby, very inviting. We had to wait two hours to check into our room (we required two since we are a family of 5 - 3 being teens). We were told to go ahead and have lunch at the buffet. The food was pretty disappointing to be honest. It wasn't hot, there were odd combinations like ham chunks in olive juice, and other mystery meats that we decided we shouldn't attempt. The kids managed to find a few things [... read more] but I wasn't too impressed with the offerings. In any case, we decided that wasn't what we were there for. So once we were told where to get to our room we were excited... until we got there. We carried our own luggage over to our building and our first view of the main floor corridor was horrific. There was a new elevator being built just outside our rooms for one, so lots of hammering and mess, the hallway was utterly disgusting, rotting ceiling and walls all torn up... All good, let's see the rooms... I walked into my room and my jaw dropped. The bathtub was so dirty and rusted there was no way i was going in there for a shower, the walls were disgusting, dirt and stains all over the curtains and blankets (looked like poop chunks)... I started to cry. There was no way our first family vacation together was going down like this. We spoke to our concierge who could see how upset I was and I also mentioned we were celebrating two birthdays that week and couldn't believe the rooms were that awful at a 4.5 star resort, let's not forget the smell of mold so strong I thought I was going to be sick. He spoke to the front desk manager and told us we could get new rooms the next day, but had to spend the night in the current rooms. Fine, one night ... not too bad. Woke up needing a walk to the beach to get the stench of mold off of me. We were given the new rooms on the Tropical side the next day around 1:30 and they were larger, and somewhat cleaner, definitely a step up but still had issues, bathroom door wouldn't close without jamming a shower cap in it to keep it closed... but no smell and clean tub. On the positive, the grounds are beautiful, on the negative ... there are reps everywhere harrasing you to go to a complimentary breakfast to sell you a membership to become a VIP at their resorts world wide which sounds not bad the first two hours until the mention the $16,000 to $20,000 USD fee to become a member and won't take no for an answer... it's the most frustrating thing ever and they harass you the entire time you are there. These reps are all over the resort. It was not relaxing unless you found a secluded spot on the beach to chill for the day. The beach was nice, the water was okay, had a lot of garbage in it ... and there were a lot of kids, to be expected being a family resort. There were many very rude and pushy Europeans unfortunately who just didn't care who the pushed out of the way to get what they wanted. The a la carte restaurants weren't bad. Better than the buffet for sure. We did encounter some very wonderful staff members however and they helped make our stay seem better. Personally I would not recommend this resort if you want a relaxing and quiet vacation... but if you have kids, the place isn't that bad and the pool area is huge and ideal for families. Let's just say we were happy to come home this time, which made me sad because this vacation meant a lot to me and my family.

Melia Caribe Beach Resort: Melia Caribe Chritmas

The Melia is a huge hotel.....very clean, friendly staff and very beautiful. If you enjoy walking then there is plenty....15 minutes from one end of the complex to the other. However they do have a shuttle (train) that runs all day and other staff in golf carts if you want a ride. Our stay there was one to remember. Other than some issues at check in the rest of the stay was perfect. The rooms are big and clean, the restaurants have a big variety of food. You may have to wait 30 minutes to [... read more] get a table at the specialty restaurants but it is worth the wait. The beach was big and clean and there were never any issues finding a chair. The pool was nice too. The golf course was right next to it and is free...but you must pay golf cart fees per person. Plenty of other things to do there too. A truly wonderful staff. I would not hesitate to return there.

Wyndham Alltra Punta Cana: Perfection

Hands down this resort is at the top of our list of favourites. The report is beautiful and we love the pool and swim up rooms. There was never a problem finding a lounge chair in the sun or shade, poolside or at the beach. The wait staff is a big reason why we would go back again, they were all very attentive and sociable. Thank you to Fransico (Benjamin Franklin) and Simon (Happy) you made our week. Thank you to Larisa for arranging seating at the Japanese grill, that was a real treat. Larisa made sure that everything was perfect There were always pool and beach activities for all ages and the energetic staff were fantastic and entertaining The rooms could have update and maybe a dresser of luggage stand, but really we didn't spend much time there. Grand Palladium Palace: Super DUPER amazing resort

Everything was wonderful and beautiful. The weather was perfect; not too humid and not too cold. The staff were very nurturing and provided me with everything I needed. They were very social and always happy. The location of my room was perfect as well. Just steps away from the pool, beach, and a restaurant. The beach at Palace was beautiful. Staff were there cleaning the beach and discarding away seaweed or any sort of sea plants. Comparing to the other hotel property beaches, ours was by far c [... read more]leaner and the sand was very smooth. There was a wide variety of restaurants and the buffet always had a variety of choices. Overall, this hotel exceeded expectations and I plan to come again.

Grand Palladium Select Bavaro: Good Family Resort

Went with a family of 5 (3 kids under 11) and we had a good time. There are pros and cons to the resort. With access to all 3 Palladium resorts there were many pools/pool bars and restaurants to choose from and a long sandy beach (no rocks - great for kids to swim). There were lots of activities by the pool and hot dog/popsicle stands that the kids loved. It was relatively easy to find seats by the pool/beach everyday. The food was so-so. After a few days we were sick of the buffets - there was  [... read more]a large variety but there was the same food selection everyday. There were 45-60 minute wait times at several of the a la carte restaurants as you could not make reservations in advance. This wasn't a problem for our family as we were always full from lunch and happy to wait it out in the bar. A few staff were great but overall most staff were not very friendly/helpful and there was a language barrier (limited English). There were vender stands on the resort and they were very pushy, grabbing even the kids and trying to get us to buy jewelry, wood carvings etc constantly - same with the beach. The grounds were really well kept but several pools were quite dirty (likely due to rainfall overnight).

Iberostar Waves Punta Cana: Nice resort

Beautiful beach. Room was nice, nothing extravagant. Paid for ocean room but no ocean seen! Front desk agreed it was deceptive when we brought it to their attention. They did nothing to compensate...maybe a simple bottle of champagne would of been better than nothing. Food was excellent as was the staff around the whole resort. We were spoiled by a special waitress, Yenice!! She always welcomed us daily with laughter and smiles....remembering our likes and orders. Grand Bavaro Princess: Great resort! December 15-22, 2016

The resort was very nice. The staff was always friendly and willing to help if you needed it. We had a top level suite and the view was awesome! We were also in the middle of the resort so it was only 5 minutes to the beach and about 10 to the lobby (walking). We had an amazing experience and we would definitely go back.

Wyndham Alltra Punta Cana: Great Week

The grounds were amazing. From lush greenery, orchids, flamingos and peacocks walking throughout the resort as well as lots of palm trees and umbrellas of you wanted shade. Beach was very clean, although lots of wind that week so couldn't swim away far from shore. Meals were good with unlimited alacarte and no reservations required. Staff were very accommodating and service excellent. Rooms were a bit dated but basically only slept in the rooms so not a concern for us. Rate dit a 5 star and w [... read more]ould go back again.

Riu Republica: Exceptional place to stay!

The resort is so clean and the staff have exceptional attention to detail! The grounds are well groomed and pools are very clean and perfect temperature. The food was so tasty - there wasn't anything that wasn't good, which is rare. The red wine was the only complaint that I had. i make homemade wine thta is better than whta the hotel had to offer.

Paradisus Palma Real Golf and Spa Resort: Beautiful

My mom and I loved it, only problem was with electricity in the room, but everything else was perfect, we'll go back! The service on the beach can be improved. The buffette was so good, drinks are good.

Excellence Punta Cana: Amazing Resort

We visited the Excellence a long time ago , 17 years ago ,when it was associated with Secrets . We loved it then and we were not disappointed years later. The Excellence brand is a favourite . The club service makes the vacation special.

Wyndham Alltra Punta Cana: Fantastic

We have traveled to over 15 different all inclusive resorts and Dreams is the best! The food was outstanding the beds were comfortable and the grounds and pool immaculate. I would highly recommend Dreams Punta Cana.

Punta Cana Princess: Amazing Vacation

Great quiet adults only hotel. If you want excitement you can go to the sister resorts on property. Staff here are top notch. They would go above and beyond for their guests. I would go back next time I go to Punta Cana

Grand Sirenis Tropical Suites: Family trip

Well not our favorite resort. Buffets were closed from 10am-1pm and 3pm-7pm so not very accommodating for families. The pool side snack bar food was not very good. We arrived at 3:15 so the only place to eat was the snack bar they had no plates or cups and hardly any food. You needed to return your pool towel or you had to pay $20 each towel so you had to make sure no one stole your towel (someone took one of ours at the pool) wasn't a fan of babysitting the towels. We were told that we were not [... read more] actually in punta cana they just adopted them she so it was about 35-45 min drive to punta cana. A la carts not anything to write home about. beach wasn't good for off beach snorkeling something we were hoping to do. Waterpark was a little bit far from the resort but if you plan to stay for a few hours it's not too bad. Not ideal resort for someone who has limited walking mobility as there is a fair bit of walking and no carts to drive people around other than the "members" time share people. Vendors were really pushy putting jewelry on you even if you say no then won't let you leave without buying something. Of course you need to just be firm and say no or walk away. We realized the route to take to avoid them. The pros LOVED the room large and high ceilings made it feel very open. A/C seemed to stop getting cold every 3 days but one call they would come and it would be nice and cold again, grounds were really nice and well kept, they had a fair amount of activities we liked, their was a show called dance party (I think) that was a really good show we enjoyed all the moves. The coconut party was so funny the whole family enjoyed it. Air transat rep Juan Pablo was really nice and helpful. We had a great time despite all the negative feed back I gave and the time went by a little too fast. Every vacay we learn a little more of what is really important to us. How can you not enjoy being on the beach or at the pool with no chores. Worth the amount we paid for our family of 4

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Mixed Feelings

What to say about a resort that truly is set in a tropical paradise? The LUXURY Bahia Principe Ambar Blue was a mix of good and very bad..I feel that it really does not deserve the adjective of Luxury except in the proximity of this section of the massive resort, to the beach. It was indeed a luxury not to have to take a shuttle every day to the beach. The rooms were what should be expected from a good hotel chain, except for the overlying smell of mold and mildew which I am sure was not help [... read more]ed by the flooding of our bathroom and Bedroom by a plumbing problem in the suite above ours in the late hours of the night. No one was sent to clean up and we spent the rest of the night with water dripping on our heads as we used the facilities. The food was, well I may as well say it, YUCKIE!!!! No fresh juices, the coffee overbrewed (maybe that is why the cups are so terribly small), eggs over easy was not a term that was recognized, requests for featured dinner items were met with uncomprehending looks. Most staff tried to be helpful but on average they were so rushed that many orders were returned 2 or 3 times. Ambar Blue is an Adults only facility but when you close the pool bar at 5, that designation was simply unjustified. The entertainment area was small and could not accomodate the guests who wanted to participate. So would I go back to this hotel? Not a chance. The Grand Bahia Principe chain has sadly (for me) lost a formerly satisfied guest.

Occidental Caribe: Great place

This is our second stay here in the same year. The food was great the service was awesome. The beach is by far my favourite place. This time around our room was above the buffet which was a little loud with the dishes rattling at 5am but the view somewhat made up for it. Always a good time thank you occidental caribe see you again soon

Grand Palladium Select Bavaro: Fantastic resort

Good food, rooms great, staff very helpful and courteous. Only negative comment is WestJet rep. Was not there for presentation. Waited 30 minutes but he never came. Called him third day and he sais he would come in 10 minutes but he never came. Day before departure, we wanted to confirm our pick-up but he wasn't answering his phone. We had to ask the hotel to call him the morning of departure. Really bad experience with him.

Catalonia Bavaro Resort: Golf getaway

If you are looking for a resort that has golf, this is the place to go. Amazing vacation. Hotel was clean and friendly. Great pool and beach areas. Ocean had lots of floating weeds but was warm. Plenty of great restaurants. Buffet was ok.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Great place - would go again

People were great Food was above standard Price was reasonable for what you received Resort was fantastic Great transportation system shuttling you from resort to resort Could also take advantage of the other Bahia Principe a-la-carte restaurants Lots of excursions and things to do Would definitely look at going again to one of the Bahia Principe resorts in Punta Cana
