Muthu Playa Varadero: Muthu Playa
A lot of disappointments. First, our room keys didn't work half the time. We had to run back and forth to get new cards which didn't work either so we had to finally get a technician (3 separate timeS). The door card didn't work about 20 different times if not 30. Twice the safe in our room would not unlock. Again, needed to wait for a technician and almost missed our day excursions because of it. Toilet leaked all week in our room ( half the bathroom had half an inch of water) and nobody could [... read more]
Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Great resort!
The grounds were exceptional, rooms were very clean, areas where food was served was spotless. We really enjoyed our stay and we would return to this resort. The beach was awesome to walk and the pool was clean and well maintained. All workers were helpful.
Gran Muthu Imperial: Fantastic Place
Hotel was very clean. People are very friendly. There was plenty of food and a variety of it. Lots of fruit and vegetables. Our shower door leaked - the only issue we had. The beach was clean and the pools were sparkling. A wonderful getaway!!
Sirenis Tropical Varadero: No frills 3 and a half star
Hotel was clean but dated. Food was good but felt repetitive. Lots of rude Russians were there. Staff was kind and polite. Beach is beautiful. Not enough places are open to get drinks, which results in long lineups. Hotel deserves only a 3 or 3 and a half star, in my opinion. Good value trip though seeing how we only paid $1,610 CDN for two people for one week.
Melia Marina Varadero: Very Large Resort
The resort itself is very modern and the grounds are huge. There is a shuttle cart that comes around regularly if you want a ride to the beach. Beach was really nice. Staff pleasant and room maid great. The food was terrible except for the egg station in the morning. There were so many basic things missing every day such as sliced bread, condiments (mustard, ketchup, salad dressings, oil & vinegar). Last half of the week there was no cheese, only blue cheese everywhere. I'm glad we got a B [... read more]
Melia Cayo Coco: ok but not great
The beach and the live entertainment were excellent. However the food was sub par and the food was often not hot. Even the coffee in the dining room was poor. We went to Melia Cayo Coco as it was recommended by friends. Rather disappointing overall. Enjoyed Melia Cayo Guillermo more.
Iberostar Origin Tainos: Beautiful grounds
Hotel was clean and staff were friendly. Rooms were a bit older, but fine. Beach was very nice and pool was adequate. Food options were plentiful. Nothing great on the menu, but standard fare for Cuba.
Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: OK Resort
Bar and wait staff were very friendly, front desk staff was not. Food was edible, but expected for Cuba. At one point we witnessed serving spoons being dropped on the floor and put right back for us to use. Beach was beautiful, Grounds and pool were beautiful Room was run down, and a bit dingy but the maids were lovely and doing the best they could. To use wifi you are only given 3 hours at a time to use in lobby or pool area, very frustrating
Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: â¤ï¸ this resort.
Another fabulous stay at Memories Flamenco Beach! Resort grounds are beautifully maintained. Beach is incredible. Staff are amazing! Food is great. This resort is beginning to show its age though. Beds are not very comfortable. Plumbing is a major issue. Public bathrooms at the grill closed the entire time which left pool bathrooms only! It was disgusting! Path lighting from the unit 4 and beyond non existent Time for an uplift for sure!
Playa Vista Azul: Loved this resort!
Very clean resort. Spacious room. Lovely staff. Interesting layout. Not a huge resort but some walking involved to different beaches. Stunning beaches The bluest water! Entertainment was ok. Food was plain and not a huge selection but we always found something delicious. I'd definitely go back!
Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: Excellent Cuba resort
Our family of four were very surprised at how clean, professional, and accommodating this resort was. We traveled with our 8 month old and 2.5 year old and had a blast. The pools are clean (and there are three!), the food is actually excellent (fresh fish and salads every day), and the staff are very kind and were so great with the kids. We actually loved the buffet (surprised because food at Cuban resorts has been horrible in the past, but not here), and the hotel is open and spacious. Rooms ar [... read more]
Gran Muthu Imperial: Lovely resort
Very clean resort every building has ocean view rooms, buffet and restaurants are great, staff was awesome, only thing was they only gave us 1 towel for rhe beach and everyday they said they would nding one but never did other than that it is a great resort beautiful beach and tons of excursions available
Melia Marina Varadero: Just OK.
So glad we upgraded to the Level when we booked. Anyone thinking about going to this resort should spend the extra money and upgrade to the Level. Jorge and Mikael (the concierges in the Level) were fantastic and resolved all our issues very quickly. If we were not in the Level, I don't think they would have been resolved so quickly. There were 4 travelling together and we were suppose to have rooms side by side, which we did not have when we arrived, and in addition to this, we were not eve [... read more]
Melia Costa Rey: Pullman Cayo Coco review
The grounds were all dried up and sparse. Enjoyed the Cuban restaurant and the Japenese restaurant. Buffet food became a vicious repeat every day, very few foods were different on a daily basis and my eggs were always undercooked (but I ate them anyway in the essence of time). Cappucino machine in the buffet has been broken for 2 months, therefore you either went to the outdoor bar for a cappucino or the coffee bar in the lobby. Mattresses need to be replaced as there is a high spot in the mid [... read more]
Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Picturesque Resort
This is a small, picturesque resort with a good view from almost all the rooms. The beach since it was widened is excellent with a gentle slope in the clear water. After a storm in Jan 2020 the staff cleaned up the seaweed as quickly as possible and area is well maintained. The resort is older and the maintenance personnel work hard as do all the good people at this resort. The main reason we keep returning is the friendly staff who do their best to ensure you enjoy your visit. We have met man [... read more]
Brisas Sierra Mar: Tired but beautiful geography!
The grounds and surrounding area were beautiful! The hotel was very dated and beds and pillows not the best. Live music was frequent and excellent! There was a shortage of beach chairs which was the cause of some fighting among guests. Overall, the place would benefit from better management to ease tensions among guests. The beach was very nice and the staff were excellent. I would give the resort a 3 star rating.
Memories Paraiso: Beautiful Beach!
We had a great time at this resort! Not only was the beach magazine worthy, with crystal clear blue water and clean white sand, but the pools are spectacular as well. Everything is clean and the gardens are always being maintained by multiple gardeners. The grounds are beautiful! The room, while dated, provided lots of hot water, excellent water pressure and it was always clean. There was a large variety of food at the buffet and other options if you needed them. The staff are always friend [... read more]
Tryp Cayo Coco: Almost the same as it was 20 years sgo
I was told that this hotel was renovated after the hurricane. Perhaps we were given a room that wasn’t renovated because i felt like I went back in time. I’ve been to this resort about 20 years ago when it was one giant hotel and I remember it to be almost the same. Bidet next to the toilet, weak water pressure, shower heads that barely worked. I’ve been to Cuba at least 15 times to various resorts and I was disappointed with the rooms. Although repetitive and the same every night, The [... read more]
Melia Las Dunas: Great to get away!
All very nice! Some things could be improved though. More variety in the salad bar at the buffet. Web site implied power was 110v but was actually 220v. Hard on medical devices like CPAP machines. Staff were very helpful at all times!!! Buffet hot food displays cooled pretty quickly if you didn't get there when they were first put out. The secret is to ask the grill cooks to heat up stuff. Generally met our expectations and we would / will go back
