Playabachata Hotel: Disappointed

If possible, request or book a room to the newer section of the Resort right beside the Senator complex. The older part of the Playabachata has mold. When we 1st checked in late at night, the stench was overwhelming as soon as you opened the door. We immediately went to the lobby to request a different room. The lobby staff really did not care and told us all rooms are full until the following day. My better half was insistent and advised she cannot stay in this room as she does have a sinus [... read more] issue and the mold will aggravate it. It was only then when another staff member overheard the sensitivity to mold, that she stepped in and provided another room. The 2nd unit also had mold, not as significant and the smell was somewhat bearable. The following day, we asked some other guest we met on the plane and in the lobby waiting to check in how their rooms were, and they all stated they could also smell mold. This hotel needs to address these issues. Simple consistent cleaning of the curtains and shower curtains would be a start. Not a lot of maintenance in this and it would certainly help the spread of mold. Secondly, they can shut down one of the complexes at a time, especially during the down season, and treat the mold vs painting over it. It was quite obvious this is what they do. It's unfortunate this chain does not see this as an issue. On my 3rd day in, I became ill. One week later, I'm still on antibiotics and my lungs are still congested. Family Doctor believes the mold has played a part in the infection. Other then the lobby staff and the Sunwing Reps, the rest of the staff are amazing. No complaints with the food, beach or pool. This was the 1st time I had taken my 2 kids age 10 & 11 to the Caribbean's and if it was not for the mold issue in the room, it would have been an amazing trip. JUST TOO BAD THAT ALL WE WILL REMMEBR FOR THE MOST PART IS THE MOLD. Our clothes and suitcases still have an odour of mold. Anything that can't or shouldn't go in the dryer has the odour

Grand Bavaro Princess: Amazing Resort....

This is a large resort, and very amazing. The people there are so polite and the service was great. The rooms are very nice and could use a little update(Gardenview). But other than that I have nothing negative to say, highly recommend this resort to anyone.

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Great hotel with beautiful views

This hotel is wonderfully situated in between the mountains and the ocean leading to beautiful views at all times of the day. Food is ok, typical Dominican food-you can always find something to eat. The buffet has little or no lineups, however the other restaurants are very hard to book- my suggestion is book all three of your nights right away when you get there as they seem to be very helpful in booking these the first day. Entertainment was ok, not as good as some of the other hotels in the area- however towards the end of our trip it did get better so it might have been out of season. The guest services was not very helpful at all. Excursions were great, although a little disorganized getting you on the bus. Once you were on the bus, they were awesome excursions and well worth the money. I suggest taking some cash as there are a lot of shops even on the hotel property that do not take credit card at all- we were told it is because of the hydro, not sure though. Over all this was well worth the money and we would go back again!

Viva V Samana by Wyndham: Good resort

The resort is nice and kept very clean. A great beach to take long walks. The food is fairly good at the buffet but i cannot say that about the seafood a la carte. The rooms were basic but efficient but the drawers and shelves all had a strong musty smell. The last three days of vacation our room had a strong smell of sewer which was very unpleasent! Staff were all pleasant and helpful.

Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: It's not more then a 3 star

This hotel needs a lot of upgrades. When it rained it flooded the room. Only place that I've been too where you need to line up to get into a buffet. The location wasn't bad. You were on the beach. Beware of which beach you go to. One beach they charge for umbrellas. They are small beaches but nice. Sandy beaches all the way into the water. The grounds were nice. You're not going to get lost. Riu Republica: Good times

This was our second visit back to Rui Républica and we were not dissapointed. Room with a view, located close to all amenities including Altagracia Buffet, and all other la cartes, the pools and my favourite, the beach. Beach very clean. Lots of loungers and sunny warm weather. Watch out for the ocean waves; they will keep you smiling all day long. The food and drinks,,,,,, fabulous. Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Disappointing

We found this resort was simply too big. Overall the hospitality and guest service was poor at best. Staff were more engaged with their cell phones and each other than on hotel guests. It was challenging to get a cup of coffee, glass of water or a drink at the buffet restaurants. The initial welcome was frustrating. We had the royal golden package and given this was the first time at this resort we expected a more thorough orientation. My husband had numerous bites. We noted that many other guests were also covered in red welts. Cleanliness in general was very good and gardens and grounds were pristine. Food was good but Luke warm at best especially at the buffet. Al a carte restaurants were hit and miss. Italian and The Japanese tapenyaki were the best because all 3 courses were served to your table. Pools were great, beach was beautiful. Beach chairs were a tough find every day. We woke up early to reserve. Lots of empty chairs on the Esmeralda side but they were off limits to PC resort guests.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Amazing Vacation

The resort has beautiful grounds and buildings.The staff are awesome and make you feel at home. Only 15 minutes from the airport. The buffet and a la carte restaurants offer great selection and something different every day. The beach is the nicest along the stretch of resorts. The rooms are clean and bug free. There are different activities daily. Just returned home Feb. 15, 2019 and can't wait to return.

Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: Nice upgrade

We got to the hotel to find out it was over booked so they told us we would be upgraded to the Fantasia resort which is directly behind Esmeralda. Kind of disappointing as it’s further away from the beach but we were told we had use of all amenities for the entire complex. Had great shows at night for the kids and mini discos at different villages. Overall had a great time, weather was great and the mojitos were amazing! Did all the A la cartes and they were all great! Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Great small resort

Good was Great!! Smaller resort so everything was close together. Staff was fantastic. Entertainment could be a little better but the other guests made it fun. Would recommend this adults only resort.

Majestic Colonial Punta Cana Beach Resort: Awesome week at the Colonial

We were part of a group of 20 who were treated like royalty! Our butler Felix was beyond attentive and helpful and made our stay so comfortable. He was the best! Awesome beach and staff. Rooms are beautiful as are the pools.

Riu Republica: Riu Republica Punta Cana

The hotel was a lot of fun The food was great at the buffet. So great we never tried the restaurants. Staff were very doting. Be prepared to walk the resort is huge. Fun to pool hop. Fun at the Foam Party and water slides. We had a great time!

Sunscape Coco Punta Cana: Be Live Punta Cana 2019

Great atmosphere and staff are dedicated to all Guess. Highly recommend the adult VIP upgrade. Added value in privilege will speak for itself. Only deception was booking an excursion with locals and would reccomend for others to be cautious in doing so. Regret not sticking to the Air Canada advice. Overall , great experience and definetly would consider returning to this site.

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Golf vacation

We went to this hotel to golf for the week. The golf course was great well kept. I would have liked to have a beer other than coots light. The staff we very friendly and attentive. Our room was nice overlooking the golf course. The hotel itself was very large nicely decorated and food was great beach great would recommend this hotel.

Sensatori Resort Punta Cana: Very relaxing resort

The resort was amazing and the staff were very helpful. The spa was wonderful, we went twice. Only compliant would be that the food at the buffets was not that great. The beach was nice and always lots of seat available.

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Absolutely first class resort

The hotel and grounds were very neat and clean. Staff were constantly sweeping and cleaning the building and grounds. There was a great selection of food, the beach was terrific with lots of loungers and shady spots under the palm trees if you wanted a break from the sun.The staff were all friendly and polite. We would highly recommend this resort. The only thing we would recommend is flying into Samana, which we understand is about 35 minute drive. We flew into Peurto Plata but this is  [... read more]a four hour drive away from the resort.

Riu Republica: Very bad customer service

We had ants in our room. The manager was very argumentative and nobody seemed to care. The staff was very rude at the restaurants. No drink service on the beach cockroaches in the restaurant. We won’t go back

Paradisus Punta Cana: Never disappoints!

We have been to this resort several times. A great place for families. Grounds and pools are beautiful. Staff are friendly and service is great. Food is acceptable but the room was outdated. Bathtub was old and needed work.

This was my first time going down south, so my partner and I booked this resort as it was adults only and a small resort. They get to know you and are very engaging - Although there are only two bars, there is never much of a wait, staff is attentive, coming around to get your drinks Cons: - Entertainment was subpar for a resort at this price point. Once night was karaoke, one night was a singer of cover songs. All of this is done around the pool. The vibe is more of a country club and less of a resort - There are only really 2 bars. The bar around the pool closes at 6pm and main bar at 11pm. There is literally nothing to do past 11pm unless you want to sit on your balcony and drink from your minibar - This was an adults only resort so the crowd was older but overall this was not a very active, party like resort. It had more of a retirement home feel to it - For a resort like this I found we had to ask for things more than we should have (asking for drinks multiple times at restaurants - whether water, or mimosa, asking for room to be cleaned or more towels in room, etc) - One pool, one whirlpool (which is lukewarm and somehow managed to turn my back blue for a day so I looked like a smurf). - The bus ride back to airport from resort was embarrassing. Our bus stalled out 5 times on the way back to the airport (once on a hill) Overall: - A very nice resort, but honestly, I feel like it is designed and caters to a mainly older crowd. I don't like going to bed at 11pm but here, there isn't much to do after it. I would go back, but only if I was looking for complete relaxation and not many activities.

BelleVue Dominican Bay: Beautiful resort

Food is great. Staff are friendly. Well maintained .lots of entertainment day and night Rooms are clean but bed was a little hard . overall a beautiful resort to vacation well definitely be coming back again.
