Melia Las Antillas: Beautiful Hotel

The hotel was very beautiful, I was impressed. The grounds were gorgeous, meticulous. The pool was nice, but I personally love the ocean. Veradero Beach is in the top of best beaches in the world! Loved the room, cute, little step down living room. Liked the vanity outside of the washroom, great maid service. Excellent coffee at the Lobby cafe!!! Bought some to take home. It said no kids which I prefer, however I didn't expect it to be dead!!! Not a party resort, FYI! No swim up bar :( I call it the resort of the newly wed and nearly dead!

Starfish Varadero: Beautiful resort - don't let the little things bug ya

This resort is absolutely beautiful. They have built the resort into the landscape adding to the beauty. We had plenty of 'little' things that we had that were less than perfect, but nothing that we allowed to ruin our vacation. So lets start with the good stuff... the beach is magnificent, clean of seaweed, no garbage, easy to walk on for a good distance either direction, and sales people who took 'no' for an answer. our room, we had bungalow 2307, was worth the extra little bit i [... read more]n cost, central to everything yet you didn't feel like you were on top of everything. It was ALWAYS cleaned and stocked perfectly. We were never bothered by the noises from the pool yet only a two minute walk away. The buffet and disco were also every close but no sound bothered us. the resort itself, again the use of the landscape is hard to describe but the main building and lobby is built on an outcropping of old hard coral and you can see its use in the lobby walls and the outdoor patio. The 'lazy river' (that's what we called it but it's not a ride) meanders through the resort with sculptures and fountains. The greenery makes the place look like a little bit of paradise... The lasagna at the Italian a la cart was tasty. Rocky at the front desk, I guess he would be a bellhop, was very helpful with our luggage and anything we needed help with he would do his best to take care of it. now, the not so good... I won't say bad because nothing was bad, just not as good as we would have liked: beach towels... an adventure we gave up on, went back to the lobby, got out deposit back and went to town and bought our own... so we ended up with a souvenir towel each.. no big deal hot water in our room... this wasn't so much a problem but there wasn't any... we did get warm one day, but then we never complained about it so they couldn't fix what they didn't know was problem... it was hot outside so cool showers were refreshing and we had fun with it... food... true to the 'cuban food' reputation it was boringly repetitive but we never starved. Some foods were 'interesting' and their idea of a salad bar was a little (ok a lot) different from what we expected. I don't thing we had any vegetables all week. But the pasta was good. bathrooms... our room was never a problem, but let me just say I took to carrying my own little baggy of toilet paper EVERYWHERE... into town, down to the beach, to breakfast, lunch and dinner.. unfortunately many of the resort washrooms lacked toilet paper more than once so I packed my own and was prepared... also the beach washrooms were never open so it was a bit of a walk to find one. service... again I can't say bad because you could tell they are trying so hard to please and be first class. I really thing that if this resort wants to become a 5 star, what they need to do is have someone come in and teach the staff the small social graces that the outside world wants to see and they don't know about... but I would't hold it against the resort. beach, yes, there are some guys selling stuff... but they can't stay and don't stay and accept a 'no thanks' and walk away, there were some sort of sand fleas or mosquitoes that liked me but not my husband, (maybe using the bug spray I took would have helped with that) the 7am flyby... every morning we had a 7am flyby over our resort. This is a very old looking biplane that flies over four to six times. We asked about it and apparently they spray for mosquitoes etc... every morning... this did seem to keep the bugs at a minimum but it left us wondering what else it is keeping to a minimum and how healthy it was for us sitting out on our balcony watching it... But when all is said and done...This is definitely a resort I WILL go back to... hopefully sooner than later I can't think of anything else but if I do, I will edit

Hotel Los Cactus: Our home away from home

This is a fantastic boutique style hotel, which my Mom and I have enjoyed staying at for the second time now. We love the smaller size of this resort, the attention to detail, the cleanliness, and the friendly and accommodating staff. This adults only resort has everything we need, and we believe it's a real gem in Varadero. We like the fact that this hotel feels very "Cuban" and has lush beautiful grounds and gardens. The beach always has ample chairs and shady spots, towels are always fresh an [... read more]d in good condition, and in our opinion, the food is very decent by Cuban standards. We can always find something to eat and we're never hungry. The only suggestion we would have is that the food could be even more simply prepared, to appeal to a wide variety of palettes, we think the keep it simple theory would not only make things easier on the chefs but also appeal more to the guests. Just an observation that we had. The baked goods are to die for (my favourite), cheeses and pickles and antipasto is always something I look forward to. If possible, more fish and possibly chicken would be amazing as I don't eat pork. We think for breakfast and even for dinner the omelet station and carving station are such a hit, that why not serve less sides, and double the amount of staff working those areas to speed up the lines.

Hotel Los Cactus: Fair Resort

Me and my boyfriend went for five days to relax and enjoy each other and the resort. The public theme was quite nice and clean. The variety of food was good but the quality was not so good. The food was the least favorable of all and there weren't premium drinks to enjoy. Over all we both enjoyed the garden view and the friendly staff.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Great place but could be improved

It's a beautiful resort but we had one beach towel for the whole week. Not pleasant as well chasing for basic room supplies, ie: room towels, water and toilet paper. In spite of the discomforts, an overall great trip!

Melia Marina Varadero: Very enjoyable!

The room that we stayed in was very spacious and the washroom was very clean. We got a really nice view of the pool area from our balcony. What a nice and relaxing vacation! This hotel was located very close to a BEAUTIFUL BEACH. The staffs were friendly and very professional. The à la carte restaurants were delicious with great service and we were very pleased! The buffets were good in general, but there weren't a lot of variety in food choices, yet we were still able to find a few delicious o [... read more]ptions. I would definitely recommend this hotel and I would also come back again because we really enjoyed our experience. The only negative thing I can say is that housekeeping staffs do not change your bed sheets when they make your bed. Our bed sheets and pillow sheets had bad odours from the first night we checked in and it stayed that way until our last day. Otherwise, everything else is a thumb's up!

Blau Varadero: Very nice resort

Visually speaking, I thought this was a beautiful hotel. The staff as usual are very friendly. The pool is very nice. Tons of space and lounge chairs available. No need to wake up super early to reserve a chair, which was nice. The beach is beautiful. The food at the hotel is good, at best. Not a ton of tasty options during dinner, but I'm more of a healthy eater so I'm a little picky :) I did, however, enjoy the breakfast food and the lunch options. The desserts also seemed to vary every night  [... read more]which was great (I have a major sweet tooth). The evening shows at the hotel were, in my opinion, mediocre. In fact, we ended up leaving half way through one of the shows. The disco/night club at the hotel is located on the beach and is tiny so if you're looking to party every night then this isn't the hotel for you. The actual room we stayed in was roomy with spacious bathroom. We had a leak in the ceiling due to the air conditioner but it was repaired very quickly so not a big deal. Overall I had a great time at this hotel.

Melia Marina Varadero: Great Stay

This hotel wasn't as good as when we had visited 1 year ago but it is still a great hotel. The food seemed to have gone down in quality within the a la carte restaurants, and the rooms already need repairs or touch ups. We had to call maintenance three times for our air conditioner to poor water pressure. However, the grounds are great and the beach is stunning. The service is great and always with a smile.

Gran Caribe Sun Beach: Great value for the money

The hotel is overall good. It s a relatively old hotel that needs some maintenance. The food was OK with a good variety. The entertainment every night was great. close to residential areas and shops. staff overall are friendly.

Memories Jibacoa: Exemplary

Pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness, professional and courteous staff, and the exceptional variety of Elliot prepared meals! The beach was very well manicured and felt very safe with the surroundings.

Paradisus Varadero: Amazing hotel and very good service

Service is very good,we appreciated it. Your people as Marilin and serguay gave us the best service, everyday they offered 3 times hot water to our room as my mum requested. Beach is amazing, environment is comfortable. Hotel also provides trip to other places and has rental car service.

Palma Real: Excellent location. Beautiful beach.

This was my third time at Palma Real and my sixth time in Cuba. My friend was in Cuba for the first time. While the hotel is dated, it is obvious that they are trying to update it continuously. The rooms are ok with good air conditioning. If you are not happy with your room they will gladly change for you. The pools are crystal clear but need work in the tiling and general appearance. The staff are pleasant and polite. We especially liked Alexander in the dining room. The food was not our cup of [... read more] tea and we had difficulty finding things we liked some days although breakfasts were always good with fresh omolets and fried eggs. But having said that it was still a good value even if we ate of site a few days. The location can't be beat with walking distance to Calle 62 and the Beatles bar and Jonome park.

Roc Barlovento: Great location, great value

This hotel is very quaint The grounds are lush & simple...no need for a golf cart to get around. The beach is spectacular & just minutes from basically anywhere by foot. The buffet was plentiful for the non fussy. The fusion à la carte was quite delicious & better than the Mexican Our room was very clean although the mattress has lived it's life & should retire. Location, location, location & simplicity

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Great Experience

This resort totally met everything we could have ever wanted in an all inclusive resort. Service was top notch, beautiful place. The nightly shows were all entertaining. The buffet was average, not bad, not great but they set out a variety of different items daily. We did a different a la cart 4 of the nights and they were all fantastic. The bistro was beautiful, we had our breakfast there a couple of the mornings, allowed us to sit outside to enjoy our breakfast without the hustle of everyone a [... read more]t the buffet. The WiFi wasn't the best, but made us leave our phones in the rooms, so even better. Would absolutely return.

Memories Jibacoa: Epitome of Luxury

Oh, what a lovely, perfect vacation. Every moment around the pool, and every top of the line restaurant, was thorough enjoyment. All was 5 star in my opinion. Rooms were large, clean and well air-conditioned. The only snag: THE BEACH - rocks everywhere and impossible to walk over. This was a huge and important factor. If beach is number one on your list of priorities, do not pick this hotel.

Sol Varadero Beach: NOT A GOOD RESORT

My husband and I along with my brother stayed here the week of Sept.21-28th. I first want to say that we travel a lot and have been to Cuba before and stayed in a 3 star which was a 5 star compared to this resort!! I'm not a fussy person and I knew the food would be not great having been to Cuba before. The omelettes in the morning at the buffet were great but that is about it. There was bacon one morning only in the 7 days we were there. The coffee was almost always cold at the buffet as was al [... read more]l the other food. There are only 2 a la cartes available while the other half of the resort is under renovation : Oriental and Cuban=both are very good. The room was fair and clean -beds were awful but thank goodness the pillow was good so it made it more bearable. Bring your adaptors to plug your electronics in as the room is 220 volt. Be sure you have toilet tissue on hand at all times because the ladies bathrooms were always out AND to make it worse there is only ONE bathroom in the lobby that actually locks-all the other doors you have to stick a piece of tissue paper to wedge in the door to keep it closed-(something I learned from watching others )hence why the shortage in toilet tissue!! I went to the "Customer Service" in the lobby on Saturday and spoke with a guy named Vlaliano (I don't know the exact spelling of his name) to let him know my concern re the doors not locking and how inconvenient it is to try and hold the door and pull your pants up at the same time and he said to me with a smirk on his face that someone else had also mentioned it and it would be fixed in the am. Tuesday came and still not fixed !! To make it even worse Tuesday evening while I was in the bathroom a female came in from Customer Service to use the bathroom herself and she IMMEDIATELY placed toilet tissue to wedge the door closed. I looked at her and said how terrible is this we have to do this and why aren't they fixing it. She said it was mentioned to "MANAGEMENT" but they can't get the parts anymore!! I said why can't they just put something else on then-she had no answer. Funny thing is I know Management reads these and usually comments but don't bother because nothing you say will make me believe you will fix this!! It's a terrible resort and the bad attitudes of the staff outweigh the good including Customer Service!! The website also states it has facilities with ramps and special access. I saw only two ramps-one in the lobby and one outside. There are lots of little steps and stairs all over the place which are not well lit up in the evenings which makes it very dangerous. We saw lots of people limping on the resort and I'm pretty certain it's from tripping on the steps and stairs! If you enjoy the shows in the evening DO NOT GO BY WHAT IS ON THE BULLETIN BOARD IT IS NOT WHAT YOU'LL SEE. Sunday was supposed to be a Magic Show it never happened...I guess it had it's own disappearing act!! There was no announcement from the Announcer on the stage just when the show was to start advising there would be no magic show either. We asked why the next day and were told that the shows go by "what kind of people show up" What the heck is that supposed to mean???......... if you don't have a upgraded room with a coffeemaker good luck trying to get a coffee before 10 am. The Tea and Coffee Corner is "supposed" to be serving coffee at 7am but the entire week we were there we could not get coffee until 10 am. The bar also is supposed to be open at 10 am but most days would not start serving until 10:30 am. The pools were great and clean. The weather was fantastic BUT there are lots of resorts in Cuba ...my honest opinion /suggestion is to find a different one. I would say this is a 2 star compared to other 3 stars in Cuba. I will not go back here and would not recommend this resort to anyone ......

Blau Varadero: 8th visit and still the best place to be

The Blau is a gem in Cuba. They cannot do enough to make your stay great. It will soon be adults only as of November which I can't wait for. The food is amazing you will never never be hungry or want for anything. The resort is being upgraded which only makes the stay even better. I always recommend this property to people that ask me where to stay in Cuba.

Starfish Varadero: Beautiful resort, frendly service

I was great time! Beautiful resort, close to the beach, beach was very clean. Good location to trip, near to the airport (30-40 minutes) Comfortable rooms, so much delicious food, very nice service and fun group antertainmet, group that rather pleasant for us time interesting festivities. perfect time and places, I will back there soon ;)

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Very clean Resort !!!

The first time I stayed at this Resort - 2015, everything was great !!!! and decided to return this year. Unfortunately, we didn't have all the features announced in the web page this time, like 3 specialty Restaurants (only one was opened per day, instead of the 3 of them), because we had them but one per day), the disco ( it was closed because it was being renovated). Other than that, the personnel was great as always, specially Mayelnis at breakfast and lunch time, Adonys at the beach resta [... read more]urant and Yamilka at the coffee shop, which by the way, it is a great idea to have !!!

Los Delfines: 4 days was long enough!

We went for a 4 day get away on Sept 18/16. I read a few reviews but thought how bad can it be for 4 days. The resort is very tired and in need of a total renovation. The food is terrible and I am not a fussy eater. The buffet was the same for lunch and dinner only the protein changed not to mention it was only warm not hot. Dinner service was not available until 7pm this is too late for people with children. After eating the same food every meal I was looking forward to coming home. I can ge [... read more]nerally eat from the pasta station but the only choice you were given was between 2 noodles and 2 sauces. It was not like any resort I have been to in the past where you get the option to add items to your pasta. The omlette station was slightly better for breakfast but only marginally. The restaurant was the ONLY place we received good service but that's only because we are generous tippers. As an English speaking person we were definitely a minority at this resort. The hotel was full of Spanish or French speaking customers and unless you spoke either of these languages the staff had no interest in you. It didnt make any difference if you tipped at the bar because your service didn't improve, the Cuban customer always got first priority even if you were there first. I asked the bartender to make me the same drink he just made for the previous patron and was told he didn't have anymore glasses but watched him make the exact drink I had requested for another patron when I left. I'm not sure if they were just disengaged or just didn't care. While we were waiting for our excursion bus i sat and watched the receptionist smoke and tweeze her chin hairs and pick her pimples....it was amusing and helped pass the time. The beach was amazing and the location of the hotel was also good for accessing the local vendors. The air conditioning in our rooms did not work properly but there was no sense of urgency to move us to another room. The shows that we seen were good at night but other than that we did not see any animation people at this resort. All in all I would not recommend this resort for your visit to Veradero. Pay a little more money and go somewhere else. This was not my first trip to Cuba but will be my first and last trip to this resort.
