Excellence El Carmen: Relaxing

The resort was clean, and the staff were very welcoming. Unfortunately I got quite ill mid-trip, but thankfully we were able to return to the hotel after our "adventure" to the hospital. We definitely enjoyed the relaxation thereafter.

Excellence El Carmen: Totally amazing resort

I am absolutely in love with Excellence El Carmen. I loved the room and the food and the grounds are absolutely beautiful. I would recommend this resort to any one I know and would visit at any time. I have nothing but 5 star rating for the service and staff there.

Bahia Principe Grand Bavaro: Good but some things lacked

Grounds were impeccable, weather was great, beaches fantastic, food was repetitive, breakfast was probably the best selection wise, lunch we always had the the beach buffet and it was almost exactly the same each day, very busy,sometimes no tables,forks,or not replenished enough, dinner at the buffet was also very repetitive, but we had 2 al la Cartes,the garden grill and the BBQ, the main course was fantastic, desserts in all meals looked nice but not tasty at all. Couple issues with our room,  [... read more]aircon would not work at first, no lightbulb in outside light so we could sit outside and fridge would not cool, we mentioned at guest services first night, the rectified the aircon immediately, the light took another complaint and the fridge was never rectified, we were just told that was the way it was, it kept everything probably warmer than room temp. and we could never enjoy what was put in the fridge and the bottle of champagne they left as a special occasion gift. I would go again but I really don't feel it should be rated 5star.

Iberostar Waves Dominicana: For spanish quiet couples

Great rooms, great landscaping, great beach, excellent food, excellent service and staff but.. unless you are a quiet couple who fluently speak spanish, like to only dance the salsa (no american music at all) and make (only) spanish couple friends, this place is for you! I've been to many resorts but never ever encountered such a small french and english community. Animation and pools are also average compared to the competition (poor night shows and no inpool bar). Excellence El Carmen: Just WOW!!

Johanna, Spaghetti, Kassandra, Jissel, JC, 50-Cent, Yahaira, Santos, Pigel (security), Elizabeth, Gil & Chaquira (our Peach Martini gurus at the martini bar) , Ana, Willie, Wanderer, Vanessa, Dioney, Pedro, Johnson, Jose Miguel (room fridge head), Jesus, Miguel at the front desk, Building 10 Concierge Female & Male, bar staff & restaurant staff EVERYWHERE, friendly grounds crew………..deep breath so I can remember all the people who made this trip so fantastic but I'm having a hard time remem [... read more]bering all their names. SO many FANTASTIC PEOPLE HERE. We started off at a 5-star for our first encounter with a resort vacation, and apparently we'll never be able to go down again - ever. Other than a few minor encounters with push/pull doors (be very aware of this to save your knuckles), and a huge broken piece of concrete, this resort is top notch and beautiful. We were second floor in building 10. To-Dos: Bingo at 3:30 & crazy games in the pool at 4 (all well liquored up of course!), you can be as busy or as lazy as you want. Spanish lessons at 10 were a must the first day! Mamajuana is the Dominican Buckleys mixture a few shots will cure everything you have. The beach area was safe and clean at all hours of the day. Towel areas all over the place, clean bathrooms all over the resort. Eating: So many restaurants to chose from. Oregano's for lunch - the lasagna was to DIE for! but our encounter at Agave one dinner was less than expected but it was a plated meal, so hit and miss. The Grill was great, Chez Isabelle was small but tasty, so we ate wings, cheese sticks and chicken "fingers" at The Sports bar a couple hours later. Breakfast at the Kitchen Table was friendly and what you'd expect. The White Dinner was fantastic with live sax & dancers. The Lobster House we only did for breakfast once as I have a seafood allergy and didn't want to risk it. Drinking: all the bars were well staffed & the Martini bar makes an addictive Peach Martini. Bewares: the tiles in the bathrooms are REALLY slippery when wet. As are the concrete steps to the top of The Lobster House. Push/pull doors going "the wrong way" everywhere. The black marble staircase in the main building has rails, use them if in heels. Avoid the "hour long shopping excursion" to a cigar factory/rum factory/chocolate factory, we did it and they brought us to a one long room store where "they saw us coming" with no negotiation. Must do: the lasagna at Oregano for lunch or the wood fired pizza there. If anyone offers you a Mamajuana shot - go for it. The drink never mentioned but popular is a Sammy Sosa.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Had a blast!!

This was my second visit to the Bahia Principe Ambar resort and I would strongly recommend this vacation to everyone! The first visit I stayed at Ambar Blue but this time I stayed at Ambar Green. Both are great but Ambar Green has the newer building and the buffet is much smaller which was in my opinion a lot nicer (less chaos/busy and got more attention from the wait staff!). The buffet is amazing and each night there are new delicious choices to choose from! There was 24/7 room service available which I took advantage of by ordering nachos,sandwiches and salads daily! The maids are quick to restock your mini fridge with lays chips, alcohol, water and pop (was restocked every night)! The animation team (namely Claudia, Mandy, Jose & Raynner) were the people who kept us entertained with games, dance lessons and exercising by the pool every day which kept things fun and exciting! When we weren't playing games they were teaching us Spanish, giving us tips about the resort or making us laugh! I will definitely miss them! I felt safe the entire trip and the staff speaks amazing english so it was easy to have any questions answered. All the bar and wait staff were friendly, fun and fast but I especially enjoyed Gabi as my bartender! Victor and Maria were my two favourite waiter/waitress- they always remembered exactly who I was and made my dinner that much more special! Overall amazing trip and I would happily return for a third visit!

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Bahia Principle Amber Green

Loved the resort, rooms are spacious, good housekeeping. A lot of activities sports fans and sun lovers and also excellent entertainment all day long and at night. Food is really delicious with unbelievable selection. Amazing house vines including sparkling vine on top of tropical cocktails. Stayed at Blue 2 years ago. Only down side is that next to our building was construction site. Hope that customers could able to select rooms not randomly signed.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Ambar Blue

Good hotel, Service and food have declined since last visit a year and half ago. We were promised something as return guests and it was our 15th anniversary but nothing came. We were told we could go anywhere to eat in buffets and al la carte but when out for an early stroll we decided to stop at esmerelda for breakfast and staff said " sorry lady you no come in here with that bracelet' - so we accepted that awkward moment and moved on. Room had squashed mosquitoes on wall from previous guests  [... read more]and had more when we left. We got eaten by mosquitoes at night in our room. The gardens are immaculate and so is the beach. Entertainment was pretty good, food was good especially as usual fish and chicken and great salad bars. I asked for Virgin coctails and several times they came with alchohol. Not sure if we'd go back to that hotel Love that beach. Ambar Green is beautiful and has a small nice buffet but is farther from the beach.

Excellence El Carmen: Great resort

We had an amazing time at Excellence El Carmen. The rooms were beautiful and spacious. The staff was amazing, friendly and helpful, especially the entertainment team (Johana, Spaghetti, Cassandra, Alexis, JC and many more that I am missing). The rooms and grounds were well maintained and clean. The beach is perfect. It is a new resort, and some areas still need a bit of work and organization. The Level at Melia Caribe: Not What It Used To Be

Stayed DEC 02,2016 – DEC 11,2016 The Level Melia Caribe Tropicale We stayed here when the adult section, the Level, was first opened, for 14 days. Rated the hotel, staff, food, service as excellent. Regrettably, all has changed has changed for the worse. We want this review to be fair and helpful so we have provided as much specific details as possible. Special thanks to: Keany, Hector, Angel, and all the others, Patricio at the pool. Fraulin Cedano and the reception staff are ok but busy. The Level Checkin starts with a ride from the lobby to the Level Checkin and takes too long after a long travel day. The housekeeping staff are beyond reproach. Thanks Carmella Aquino, Mrs. Y. Perez and her buddy, and Maxima. The restaurant staff in the “public” restaurants service varies. Noticeable how few speak English. Food Overall only average and a long way from what it was originally. Many restaurants were closed for extended periods, and up to 3 at a time.. Capri, Pagoda, Gondola, Gourmet never available when we wanted. In fact we have spent 24 days there in 2 visits and have yet to get in the Gourmet, Capri, and Gondola. The menu in the Pagoda almost every dish has seafood or fish/oyster sauce, alergy alert! Dangerous especially for someone like my wife who cannot have anything from the water. Cuatro Buffet – monotonous, bland, exactly the same everyday 3 times a day. Steak – OK, lobster was overcooked. Italian – Not good Peruvian/Asian – skipped after above experience Mexican - - OK. Seafood salad bar items not indicated, alergy alert. French – Good Marketplace Buffet – Good food and service Gabi – Good from menu American Grill and Japanese have additional fees so we passed. The restaurants are busy, noisy, especially when several are closed, the “public” ones inevitably had badly behaved, loud children. Most can accommodate a children section. There is no dress code. Rooms Older, some cosmetic repairs required, not bad overall. Room ammenities, HVAC good, outstanding housekeeping. Mosquitoes/”Noseeums” made their presence felt. Staff responded promptly to have the room fumigated and all linens changed which helped; bring repellant. Other Electronic type music not a great idea when the local music is so entertaining and what we expect when visiting a different culture. The crowds with the expansion are larger, different, the place busier, the noise level much greater. Often the shuttles are not regular or pass you by. Bring walking shoes as the walkways are uneven stone and hard on you feet and legs. Melia Rewards are only for people who book through them! Our preference is for an adult experience, quieter, higher quality food, consistent service. We have preferred the Melia group for our 2 – 4 week annual holidays. We have stayed at the Paradisus in Varadero, 2 in Mayan, 2 times at the Level. We will not be using them anymore, this trip was not good value compared to several other competitors. There is no need for management to respond with the usual form reply.

Excellence El Carmen: Excellence El Carmen is truly Excellent!

We just got back from a week at Excellence El Carmen and it was absolutely fantastic! I can not say enough great things about it! The resort is stunning and well maintained. The rooms are extravagant and spotless. Food was first class enjoyed some exceptional meals with terrific flavors. I can not stress enough how amazing and welcoming all staff on the resort were. I would not hesitate to recommend this resort to anyone and would love to make a return trip!

Excellence El Carmen: The best resort I have ever been to

Excellence El Carmen was absolutely amazing. The food selection was large and delicious. The staff was extremely friendly and pleasant to talk to. The rooms were very nice and the beds were comfortable. Everything was very clean and overall the resort is beautiful.

Excellence El Carmen: Amazing resort!!

Grounds well kept, lobby great excellent dining choses Great beach to walk on and swim in very sandy no rocks and lots of talapis . Rooms were great lots of storage and big balcony. Had dinner at the Grill the French Italian and buffet for breakfast and lunch lots of choices.

TRS Cap Cana Hotel: Sub Par, not as described

Description is misleading. Restaurants are staggered between two resorts. Close together but still makes for confusing dining as options rotate and it is not clear which meal "themes" are where so you learn to visit the lobby each morning to source your dining options. There are NO activities at this resort, unlike all other all inclusive destinations we have visited unless you consider a weathered dart board strung from a tree to swing in the wind and three crappy plastic darks that don't st [... read more]ick. Beach is clearly in a current as even though they've netted it off and clean it diligently you swim with plastic garbage that continually floats in. I would rate it highly as a nice quiet resort except that even lacking activities they choose to blast music at the pool, which I'm ok with if I'm having fun but when reading is the only option it gets obnoxious. It's a nice property, very small and clean if you're looking to spend your entire day golfing or off daytripping but otherwise most people we spoke with were very bored by the third day. And if you're thinking of bringing kids, don't. There are no kids and the tours are crazy expensive (again, we've been to the Caribbean many times, we knew what to expect). Local shopping excursion is to a mall and if you go to the local "market" it's just an indoor duty free style shop, nothing different then what you get at the hotel. Totally dissapointing

Excellence El Carmen: Amazing resort

This is the best resort I have been to in the DR. Beautiful clean comfortable modern room. The service is great for a new resort, everyone still learning. Was able to get 10000 steps easily walking the beach every day. Premium alcohol at every bar we went to. Food was cooked and tasted to perfection at every restaurant we went to.

Excellence El Carmen: Fabulous Resort

The hotel was just opened in September and I do highly recommend booking your vacation at this hotel. It is just a great size, about 450-500 rooms and they are all good locations spread between 16 buildings. Plenty of pools, bars and restaurants - all with easy access from the buildings. The grounds were immaculate and will only improve when the new plants start to grow. The spacious lobby offers great sitting areas, a few different bars and several shops. Rooms are very well laid out with a separate bathroom area with a walk in shower and private toilet. The only negative would be that the shower is open so not a lot of privacy. There is a walk in closet with plenty of storage plus a long desk, cabinet area. The sitting area leads to a large balcony with chairs and table plus a lounge bed. Many of the ground floor rooms have swim up pools and the Club rooms have private swimming pools. There are several restaurants, we only had a chance to try the Italian, Lobster, french and The Grill - they were all very good. The buffet is open for breakfast and lunch and was excellent also. The beach was great, lots of chairs with plenty of palapa for cover from the sun. The beach itself is nice and sandy plus the waves were not large when we were there. Spent several hours a day in the water. I can't say anything wrong regarding this hotel if you want a relaxing high end vacation.

Excellence Punta Cana: Mui Excellente

Just returned from Excellence Punta Cana and had an amazing time. Hotel is a little dated but they are revamping summer 2017 so looking forward to returning and seeing the new fresh look. The food was great, better than I was expecting for Dominican. You have to try the stuffed peppers at the Mediterranean restaurant and ask for Carlos he was unbelievable and went above and beyond to get everything we wanted including tracking down Ginger Ale. The best thing was that no one harassed you to go to time share meetings or to book excursions we were left alone the entire time. The only things that I would complain about which will hopefully be changed when they revamp; not enough outlets in the room. There is one large sink with 2 faucets at either end which does take up most of the counter leaving little room for anything else. The biggest downfall of the room is the toilet there is a window that looks in from the bedroom thru the shower into the toilet so little awkward to go to the bathroom. Overall I would definitely return to this resort!!!

Majestic Colonial Punta Cana Beach Resort: Amazing

Funjestic, Majestic Colonial is the best. Great people, great food, great drinks, great weather. Second time there was there April 2006 a couple of months after it opened and is better than 10 years ago and it was very good 1st time, will definitely go again.

the hotel was an amazing hotel the service was by far one of the best i have been to and I would say i am well traveled we stayed at the Amber Green adult only we even hsd a butler service.they came in at bedtime to fixed your pillar and put chocolate on your bed they know how to spoil you agson yhis was by far the best resort
