Grand Aston Cayo Las Brujas: Good resort

Wouldn’t recommend. Food options weren’t good, service was slow. Nice clean resort, grounds beautiful beach way too far. The locals were very friendly. Lots of dogs at the resort.. ants were terrible in the hotel room. 3/5 star

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Awesome Resort

I have visited Cuba a few times in the past I can say that this resort is by far the best one I’ve had the pleasure to stay at. The resort is beautiful, well kept and the staff are hard working and go above and beyond. Well worth it

Book it ! This place is an Outstanding Beautiful Paradise Oasis vacation for family & couples of all ages ! The dinning facilities are Terrific ! Club Kawama: Club kawama

The hotel was ok but they ran out of toilet paper at the pool bathroom every day other than that the entertainment was good every night I would recommend the hotel to a friend I would come back next year food could of been better

Sol Cayo Coco: Wonderful resort

We have stayed at Sol Cayo Coco 5 times past 2 years and never fails to please us. It is the wonderful friendly staff, beautiful grounds and not to mention 2 magnificent beaches that keep us coming back. Looking forward to spend more vacations here

Playa Vista Azul: Amazing time!

We loved the resort from start to finish! Such a great vibe. 2 beautiful clean beaches. The ocean was so much fun! Great waves and the colour was out of this world! The food was great and service fantastica. We will definitely be back!

Memories Paraiso: Another great stay

Third time visiting this resort- first time since 2014. Beach is beautiful, staff is friendly and would do anything in their power for you. Parts of the hotel are starting to show wear but there were people working on the resort while we were there to update tHe facility.

Club Kawama: It is as expected....

Resort staff was amazing as always. Times are tough right now in cuba in general and you could feel the difference everywhere you went. Grounds and buildings need repair but are almost 80 years old...

Grand Aston Cayo Las Brujas: Great Holiday

Very clean and well kept. Excellent entertainment every nite Lovely beach and pools .although it is a long ride from the airport about one and half hours, the buses are very nice. We will be back. We have already sent a couple there.

Gran Muthu Imperial: Relaxing Luxury Hotel

Overall hotel was very nice. Food, well it is Cuba. We have had better food at 3 star hotels. Entertainment at night was not good at all! We attended the shows a couple of nights but wasn't pleased. The grounds are very beautiful, the hotel is new so it will need more time for plants and coconut trees to grow. Rooms are moderate, beds are comfortable and shower has nice water pressure. We were told to come back early morning so they could accommodate us, we were able to checkout 2 rooms on which one we preferred with the king size bed and the beautiful view. The staff were nice enough to drive me back and forth from the lobby to the rooms to checkout. Hotel grounds are very clean and maintained. Tip: bring cash! The resort does not have a bank machine. There is a bank down the street at the Daiquiri Hotel it is a 5-10 min cab ride for 5$peso. You can also walk on the beach to the hotel it's about 40 min walk. if you do go to the bank you will need your passport and the hours vary.

Barcelo Solymar: Barcelona solymar

This was the most god awful resort I’ve ever been to. Every single bar does not have something, whether it’s pop or a type of liquor, so be prepared to walk to another one. There’s a disco that no one uses and is shit down at 12am. We had ice cold water for a week straight, front desk told us a mechanic was coming to our room and had us wait there for three hours, only to find out it is a hotel wide issue and no one was coming. We switched room four times due to cockroach infestation in tw [... read more]o different rooms. When we tried to contact the sunwing rep late at night, he did not answer. The manager at the front desk would not call for us, and told us we would be charged for calling from our room. The entertainment team does the least possible. We asked for music at the pool other than Russian jazz and were told we need to wait until 2:30pm every day. I highly recommend not going to this resort.

Muthu Playa Varadero: Comfortable -- you get what you pay for !!

Our second time back this time for two weeks ! The service is getting worse - one day no water - gone for breakfast no one would bring coffee - tv not working for two weeks after being reported ! Phone not working - the food was to repetitive - two weeks and 6 days in a row roast pork - or chicken that's it ! Toaster broke down for three days ! Maid service always not complete ! Wifi not always working ! The good things were there was always alcohol - and great coffee shop ! My first night arriv [... read more]al there was no bottled water so I had to take night time meds with my pina colada ! From last year it just seems to be going down !!! Not sure if it's just January ????? Mother Nature was the best - the beaches - sun and sand !!

Blau Varadero: Love this resort !!

Was recently at the Blau Varadero for a week. My first trip to Cuba. I loved everything about this resort. The resort is lovely with many comfortable sitting areas to relax and have a drink. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The beach is of course fantastic. One of the best parts of my trip were the people. The Cuban people are so kind, helpful, and do everything to make your trip a great experience. From the dining room staff, to the house keepers, the front desk, and our tour guid [... read more]e to Havana, everyone tried to make our trip as comfortable and memorable as possible. Loved old Havana! The beautiful historic buildings, cobblestone and narrow streets, and classic, colourful American cars, make it a trip not to miss. Would definitely go back to Cuba and to the Blau Varadaro.

Brisas Guardalavaca: I love this resort

We boarded on time from our POD, Toronto, but due to snowstorm conditions and a passenger with inadequate papers our departure was delayed (onboard) more than 2 hours. We arrived very late at Brisas Guardalavaca. The check-in process would be so much more efficient if it’s done on the 1-hour bus ride from the airport (as in some other resorts). Unfortunately we had 2 days of h [... read more]igh winds, rain & extreme cold which churned up the ocean & littered the beachfront with a lot of weeds (I don’t remember so many weeds & rocks from previous stays there). As the hotel was ‘overbooked’, we were offered a ‘free’ excursion for one night to Gibara; the catch was that we were required to check out (and check back in the next day into a different room). We declined. *The Russians: although I’ve experienced their presence in Varadero, this was the first time I’ve seen so many in Holguin. Generally speaking they are loud, obnoxious rude & drunk from breakfast until night, when we could see the occasional Russian passed out at a table or along a pathway. Disgusting! Their presence here will deter me from returning unless some changes are made (ie; no longer permitted at this hotel). They are disliked not only by the other clients, but also the wonderful staff, who have to put up with such rude behaviour. The food at this hotel is very good & it’s always great to reconnect with longstanding chefs there, such as Miguel, Roberto & Enrique. A culinary highlight for me was fresh calamari one night at dinner (DELICIOUS!). I took a couple of pieces to taste, liked it, went back up to the buffet to help myself to a few more but the once very full serving dish was empty with no more available. As I went back to our table I witnessed a few ‘Russian tables’ with a mountain of calamari heaped on plates, then left behind as waste. It’s inconsiderate from my perspective but imagine how the Cubans would see this.... living in a country where occasional shortages and rationing may prevent them from always having enough... despicable!!! My room was clean and well cared for by my chambermaid. The shower head didn’t work very well though and the toilet was not solidly connected on its base to the floor. A leak appeared in the bathroom (from the ceiling) and the plumber & chambermaid came immediately to resolve it.... turned out to be condensation from the AC unit I had turned off when the weather turned cold; I was instructed AC must always be left on. Aging equipment is showing signs of wear. The staff works hard here... taking care of communal bathrooms, restocking toilet paper, cheerful & enthusiastic animation, pleasant entertainment, neat gardens. Overall, it was a nice restful vacation.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Great value for the price

When we first arrived and pulled up to the hotel with the bus we thought oh no, what have gotten ourselves into. First impression was a little disappointing. The hotel is older and dated. However once you get past that, we found it to be a great place for a vacation. We found the food pretty good not excellent. Certainly did not starve!! Rooms and all washrooms were very clean. Beach is amazing. 3 pools, 2 with bars and music and one large Olympic sized pool that was quiet and amazing to do some laps or throw a ball. Would love to spend time with family and grandchildren there. Doesn't seem many people knew about it so you practically had the pool to yourself. Overall for the price I think it's a great place and the staff were very friendly.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Picturesque Resort

We have visited many resorts and keep coming back to this smaller, picturesque resort. The beach is excellent with crystal clear water. If a storm brings in seaweed the beach is cleaned quickly and this area is well maintained. The rooms are big as older resorts generally are and in good shape,if you have a problem the maintenance staff will respond quickly. The food is good although during our last visit in Jan 2020 the staff at the a la carte restaurants were under training which resulted in  [... read more]some confusion and should be rectified with time. The staff in the buffet are excellent and work hard to provide the service you expect. The main reason we return to this resort is the staff which work hard to ensure you enjoy your vacation. The personnel at the main desk are great as are the bar staff and generally all the people working there are most friendly even though some guests are a little grumpy. We will continue to return.

Iberostar Selection Holguin: Family loved it!

Just came back this week from the resort. Had a wonderful experience. Two adults With a 3 and 6 year old. Not a single complaint from the kids or adults :) both beaches beautiful, we got creative with the food and everyone always had something to eat at the buffets. Desserts were delicious and a big hit with people. At the busiest of times we never stood in line for the eggs and stir fry and pasta more than 2 min. Pool was incredible, night entertainment great! Kids LOVED the mini disco, as well [... read more] as daytime kids club. Kids club staff were AMAZING and we left the kids there twice because kids asked us to! Kids above 4 are included, but had to pay for our younger kid which was totally worth it to get some adult time for us. Splash park was a hit, even the parents were in there playing with their kids. The resort is walkable, even to the far ‘big’ beach was 10 min or so. There are frequent carts Driving people around and we took those for fun cause my younger kid thought it was fun. Or a single bug bite all trip including mosquitos :) we never put on bug spray. Not sure there is anything I’d change about the experience, for what we paid we had a fabulous and truly memorable time. Thank you Iberostar!!!

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Stayed Jan 22/20 to Jan 29/20

Firstly...it's Cuba; as with my wife when we first met the three little words that won her over were - "lower your expectations". Saying that we had a great time at a very nice resort. We did change the room we were assigned when we arrived not only because the safe was broken but because it was on the ground floor by the games center. A note on the broken safe; when we reported it a tech was there within 15 minutes and fixed it (the front and rear piece of the door were broken off). The second  [... read more]room assigned on the second floor above reception had a couple issues as well. TV not working and the sliding door frame to the balcony was completely broken at the bottom on the back side. We reported this and it was repaired to our satisfaction with the very helpful assistance from Jorge (a guy who will get things done). All issues were taken care of the first day with the help from Elzbieta at the front desk and no other issues for the remainder of the week. Rooms were cleaned everyday with bottled water, beer and pop (soda) topped up every day as well. Toilets have super flush and scalding hot water whenever you needed it. Because of our location and not having the sun beat through any part of the room we didn't use the AC much but it worked great when needed. The whole complex was always being cleaned and the staff was always pleasant. Jerry and Miguel at the swim up by the beach were great and never missed a chance to give you a refill. There were two swim up bars with the other one located by the main lobby pool 24 hour grill. There are other bars located between the pools and at the beach as well as seafood restaurant very close to the beach and pool. There was also a BBQ by the beach bar every day (chicken). Weather was the best; between 27 and 30 everyday with no rain at all. A market was a 10 minute walk down the beach and horse back riding is also available almost on the resort with about an hour ride right onto the beach. Food was a little repetitive but you could also find something and no sign ups for the ala carts, just show up. There are 4 ala carts; Italian, Cuban, Mexican and Asian and all were good and we used them more than the buffet. Oh yeah...the pools are huge and never had a problem getting a lounger whenever we wanted. You get the usual self centered people saving the loungers but it wasn't needed. No problems getting loungers on the beach either and a fellow was there to sweep them off and take them to anywhere you wanted them. Again, no need to worry about not getting one. Snorkeling was great as well, lots of fish to see, neons, bluefin, angel and schools of other fish. Beach was flat right into the water without the usual step down where the waves break, the ocean was calm all week. You can do as much or as little as you wanted with sailboats and pedal boats. We have been to Cuba 10 times now and never stayed at the same resort twice and would have no issues returning to this one. We had a great time and as with any travel to Cuba, bring the essentials, ketchup, mustard, relish, peanut butter and honey. Some people were a little envious at breakfast when you take these items out of your bag and get requests to share ;-) . Lots more to say about this resort and all good but your probably already bored with this novel. Final word...don't be afraid to book this resort you will have a good time while feeling safe. Muthu Colonial Hotel: I would have loved to seen this Resort in its day!

So much potential if the time and money were spent. The staff is fantastic, the beach and ocean is one of the best in the world, but years of neglect has finally caught up. Only go if you get a reduced price, the resort isn't worth full price anymore.
