Roc Arenas Doradas: Good times and not bad resort!

The resort was nice in Cuba standards. The food was ok to good, better if you like fish. A visitor from the resort next door came over one night and she had been at our resorts a couple years ago and said the renovations were nice and the food a lot better than the other two resorts she stayed at last year and this year. Recommend to not use a groud floor room as ants and other critters can get in through cracks in the door. The beds were actually not too bad (best ones in 5 times in Cuba) and the rooms were cleaned daily, although the towels were hit and miss sometimes (see bellow). The beach was beautiful with a lot of nice white sand. HIGHLY recommend two essentials to pack in your luggages besides the obvious... A beach towel and an insulated cup. Towels are often not available and the pool and sometimes for the room and the reason given was an apparant issue with the company cleaning them. As for the drinks, the plastic cups you get are very small and you will spend a lot of times going back for refills or if you are a slow drinker, your drink can get warm fast. We did the delphinarius (show and swim with dolphins). We also did it 12 years ago but they are not getting extremely greedy on their price and if you want a picture afterwards (no camera allowed btw) you have to pay 30 cuc (30 US) and 35 for the video. The hotel has a very good feature with its free shuttle to the town of Varadero, but make sure to be at the pick-up at least 10 minutes ahead of time. The one we took back left 5 minutes early to go back to the resort. There is a nice pool and the bartenders are great (Daysi, Lissette and Roly). The entertainement staff was outstanding and always trying to make sure your experience is as memorable as possible. Go YUYA! Kids area is mainly for smaller kids (up to 7 or so) but my 10 years old daughter liked it and it gave us a bit of alone time for me and my wife. All taken into account, I would recommend this resort. Enjoy your trip, we sure did!

Muthu Playa Varadero: mercure playa del oreo

Well we had to change rooms two times re no lock on door, water leaking threw ceiling, toilet would not flush, and no tv working for three days. towels were in short supply .Resort in need of lots maintenance.FINALLY THE THIRD ROOM was livable.TK U.

Roc Arenas Doradas: Nice Resort

We just got back from the Roc Arenas Doradas. The resort is good but average. The best thing about it is the beach which is spectacular. The rooms are tired and dated but liveable. The A/c in our room was really good. We had a room close to the beach which we really enjoyed. The grounds are well kept and the pool area clean and good. The food was not great. The buffet was difficult to find things to eat. The Italian a la carte was the best. You only get 2 a la carte's per week so difficult to kn [... read more]ow how good the others were. The coffee bar in the lobby was really good. The staff although nice do not go out of their way to ensure you have a good stay. The entertainment staff is great and work hard to ensure you have fun. Although adequate I would not stay there again.

Starfish Cuatro Palmas: Great Place

The Montreal, Qc people, had NO rooms available until after 4:00 pm. I requested NO stairs, but all the lower rooms were being renovated. I was put on the 1st floor but had a very nice view. Food was good at this hotel.

Resonance Blu Varadero: good resort

I had a great vacation at this hotel but some things could have been better. For one the workers there are great! Very polite and just over all good people. The gardeners upkeep the grounds very great. The activity pool was very clean the other one wasn't so much but spent most of my time at that one tho because we met so many nice people and was a very fun time. The food wasn't the best but some foods were really good . loved the Japanese a la carte restaurant. Great shows held at the theater.  [... read more]The ocean was absolutely amazing and beautiful! The least I liked about this resort was my room lots of mold starting top and bottom the bath was worse then the one I have at home the toilet barely flushed and I had 3 beds in there when my husband and I should have gotten a king size instead of 1 single and 2 twin size. But overall I had a great trip and I would go back but I would upgrade to a suite.

Melia Marina Varadero: Good Resort, Not The Best Food.

Overall it was good trip, the hotel and rooms were nice and clean however the food was unsatisfactory and was with lack of seasoning and had poor variety especially for vegetarians. There was also a lack of things for kids to do. Another disadvantage is the fact that there is no free Wi-Fi. Also another unimpressive and underachieved area of the hotel was of their, "fine dining," restaurant, "Don Ernesto." The service was atrocious, horrible, bad and really really bad. We had ordered a certain  [... read more]dish and we received another one. Multiple times we requested the fact that we wanted a meatless dish, however THREE times they gave our group a dish with meat, although we probably reminder them 10 times. That was the worst experience during the trip, however everything else went well.

Grand Memories Varadero: Nice Cuba Resort

Food was good, room was clean and we were near everything. Animation was good compare to other resort i am been in Cuba. Staff were friendly. Show at night enjoyable. Drinks is like anywhere in Cuba they need more varieties.

Hotel Los Cactus: Good time

Food was good .....beach was amazing ... The people there friendly....My Only complaint was my room did not have hot water for the entirety of my trip ...later found out that half of the resort depending where your room was located did not have hot water ....

Muthu Playa Varadero: Lack of customer service

Hotel as a hotel is in a need of repair.Leaky hallways and moldy walls broken tiles were replaced by big smiles of people who work there.You could tell signs of a hard life on their faces but that did not stop them of making sure that they will do whatever they can to provide you with nice vacation.My big problem was getting there and our way back from Varadero to Montreal. As we can not predict weather I do understand that but my 7 day trip was actually 5 days as Sunday Sep 4th was completely [... read more] lost and on our way back Sunday 11th was another full day of travel . I'm extremely disappointed with your help desk as they did not even try to explain why my flight was changed but they were repeating constantly that I agreed on whatever and that my trip was non refundable.My travel from Varadero to Montreal took over 12h .We left resort 10am on Sunday and arrived approx 11:15 pm. Therefor as much as I liked to go back to one of the resorts in Varadero I do not think that I will be booking through your company and this is only because of one reason.Lack of customer service on Tripcentral part.

Melia Marina Varadero: Beautiful Resort

The resort was beautiful and clean. The lobby was elegant and inviting. The Marina landscape was picturesque. The food was great with lots of variety. The pool area was nicely landscaped with lawn chairs all around the pool. Great for couples and families. The beach was spectacular - a 5-minute walk but small shuttle offered frequent transport to the beach from the resort and vice versa. The nightly shows were always fun to watch and very entertaining.

Hotel Los Cactus: Ok, location..

I hate to say it but this was one of the worst holiday we have had, not sure we want to return to Cuba after this experience. This was our first time there and we heard the food was bad..but this was TERRIBLE....cold, salty.. Uncooked. Low water pressure, so taking a good shower was next to impossible after being out in the heat all day (weather was terribly hot)..could not get a good mojito if my life depends on it. . What was good..the people..they kind and helpful

Memories Jibacoa: Pleasant but not outstanding

My fourth time at the resort. Some improvements have been made but other areas are very tired and in need of repair and updates. The food wasn't as good this time - it was better a couple of years ago. The staff are as always friendly and welcoming. All in all a good resort but not wonderful anymore.

Hotel Los Cactus: A Great Resort

The ambiance is very good. We really liked our unit. The staff was fantastic. Breezes should make an effort to facilitate the "Hop-on-hop-off" to pick up its clients closer to the entrance. It is a very challenging walk on a hot day. A lot of your clientele are seniors who are unable to manage this even though they may want to see the city. The food was very monotonous at first but then appeared to have changed. I did find the menu overly repetitive. Will visit again.

Hotel Los Cactus: The hotel was overall very good!

The grounds were kept well and clean inside and out. The food was satisfactory...plenty of food at all times. The service and waiters were always polite and helpful...very attentive. The pool was beautiful and of course the beach was spectacular!! Clean!! There were lots of daily activities...Cuba day..etc. We met a lot of wonderful people. oUR room was kept clean. The only downfall was that we DID NOT HAVE HOT WATER IN THE ROOM. We did complain at the front desk and she said she wou [... read more]ld send a technician but didn't follow through. We were there only 3 nights so we didn't persue too much to complain again. On our second last day the manager wanted to change our room but we said it's ok we are leaving tomorrow. She (Elizabeth) was kind enough to let us stay until 6:00pm before our departure.

Palma Real: excellent resort staff was amazing

Hotel going through renovations but grounds were excellent place clean pools were perfect. Restaurant food was very good. Service excellent Location of hotel is perfect with everything around it.The people working there were amazing polite and always made sure you were been taken care of. Walking everywhere you need to go Cali 62 the Beatle bar and Havana Club all within 2 or 3 blocks.

Sol Varadero Beach: The beach yes!

Food and hotel quality a 2.5 out of 5. Plus it was in the midst of renovation, not a pretty site. The beach was fabulous, fine sand and shallow shore. Hotel looked very old and in need of a big make over. Too many plastic glasses and other items thrown around..

Blau Varadero: Beautiful Blau Varadero

where to start.. the Blau was great. It was your average hotel the food was good and the two fancy restaurants they had were awesome. The beach was beyond perfect. Beautiful blue water and beautiful Sandy non rocky beach. We loved it. Also the Staff were so friendly and great to us. We will be going back again in the feature for sure. The only problem was the bed, it was hard as a rock.. Hah but we made do and got past that. We hope everyone will visit the Blau because it was so awesome!

Palma Real: Famely réunion

We had a great times at the palma real resort ...food his good room is remodel in block 4 ...the only thing négatif is the pool guy he was unpolite and boosy and didn't like canadian ...ok but we love the place and going back novembre the 11 2016...it's the 5 time there and it's a beauty full am placement ..no taxi to paye ...sorry for my English I'm french ...

Melia Peninsula Varadero: Not what was Expected

The hotel pictures and the description of our room was not what was given or what was told or by our travel agent. The photos showed a room with a separate sleeping area -- by way of a separate room.....referred to as a Jr. suite. We received a hotel like room with a sofa beside the bed. This is Not a suite but a room. Pictures showed the rooms with upgraded TVs - we had an ancient old TV - no dresser or drawers to put clothing but a desk and shelving. There was construction going on all day fo [... read more]r the newer rooms. Usually a resort under construction this is mentioned and you get a cheaper rate. This was not the case. The first room given was all mold and stinky smelling (either from being closed up or a moldy dirty mop) The second room was better however, again it was not was was represented to us. As a 4* plus this was less than par for that rating. The dinning areas and common areas did not even have fans to accommodate when air conditioning was not working or present. Flies on the food, food out on buffet in 90 degree weather with no ice chillers or fans. (put up bug tape-- and fans) Cock roaches behind buffet climbing on the sink that did not drain - near the grill and kitchen area. The grounds were beautiful the grass could have used cutting to prevent the presence of the snake we saw in the long grass (this is when we stayed on lighted the paths only) The nightly shows were less than sub par. It was a huge disappointment for us as we have been to Varadero, Cuba 6 times (booking with tripcentral) previously and we are looking on getting married in Cuba 2017- this is why we chose to visit this resort this time as a 4* and get wedding info -- otherwise we usually stay at another resort when we visit Varadero. We thought this was a 4* or more......in my opinion NO it is not. The food, the grounds, the pools (2) and the rooms are no better or even worse than some of the 3 * we usually stay in ..... you lost me on first impressions as the advertisement had more visual up scale than was actually present at the resort. We were expected to be wow'd this didn't happen and at the end of the day we paid about 300$ more per person than we usually pay to get nothing better --and as i said some worse. Our stay was made pleasurable because of the sun, vacation time, and friendly staff. But if i had to rate this resort it would be a 2-3 star maximum. Our usual resort is only rated a 3 and had more amenities and actual suites/and bungalows near the beach, the food was just as good or even better and the cleanliness was there throughout.....now the only difference was a thicker mattress was that worth the extra 300$ per person? NO ----would we be back....YES we LOVE Varadero, CUBA --- to this resort -- No not unless it was priced at 600$ per person because the comparatives at 700$ were showing better -- star status or not. Sorry, it was an expensive 1000$ per person for a let down to scout out our wedding destination. Back to the drawing board.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Good Resort

This was our first visit to Cuba. I have to admit Cuba was definitely not at the top of my list of travel destinations, I was also told to lower my expectations and I did, but it turned out to be better than expected. The grounds were really nicely kept, the room and food was ok. It was the same meal everyday but we ate at the a la carte 3 nights out of the 7. Everyone has a different idea of what beauty is, but if your idea of beauty includes old structures, old vintage cars and the like then Havana is one of the most beautiful City's and you must visit! I will definitely go back to Cuba.
