Starfish Jibacoa: Won't come back

We went there for 2 weeks in August. We are family of three with 10 year old son. Very nice area , gorgeous beach, manicured garden,dry climate in compare to other parts of Cuba. The bungalow we stayed was clean,spacious and no smell. Cleaned daily, very old towels, so bring your own. Air conditioner was good, hot water and toilet no problem. The buffet restaurant is open 3 times a day and if you prefer to eat at another time than it's open then you have a problem - there is no another option. I have been to Cuba 6 times so far, love Cuban people, but in this resort when there are coming for a weekend it's too much. I felt like a stranger in somebody's party. They don't know the simple polite words like thanks, please and sorry. No manners at all. (Some of them, don't get me wrong ) The staff at the buffet is amazing, especially chefs. They are very appreciate when you recognize the great job. Seems like the local people never tipped them. Entertainment is going on from 11 am till 5 pm in Spanish at the pool ( Cuban party) Nothing to do for kids. I witnessed that Cuban teens getting freely beer at the pool bar and already been drunk, cutting the line (shocked ) We choose this resort because of the best snorkeling and it was really amazing. Anyway we tryed to enjoy our vacation and not allowed someone distroyed it . Just decided more 3 star resort anymore, never! Still will come back to Cuba, but not in this place.

Palma Real: Great Staff and Hotel!!

The hotel is very tourist feels, food was 3/10 they more variety and need better quality. The hotel is very nice and quite. Need more entertainment music. The facilities closed early need to have it extended. such like the pool at the bar closed at 6pm. The hotel is going a major renovation during our stay the main bar was closed but alternative one was open to the other building. Melia Marina Varadero: Awesome Resort

The hotel was beautiful; lots to see and do. There was lots of space at the pool and at the beach. The shuttle to the beach was frequent. The staff were friendly, courteous and went out of their way to be helpful. It was unfortunate that the room didn't have an exhaust in the bathroom as everything felt damp all the time.

Resonance Blu Varadero: Good for families

Im not picky so food wasnt as bad, nice beach, fun entertainment for kids and young adults...depends on the time you go, young adults will have more fun around the time of winter probally with more people

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Great Week in Cuba!!!

We travelled as a family of 5 and the resort was a true delight. Friendly staff, lot's to do and amazing entertainment. Missed the internet at first but quickly "logged into" the experience of being in Cuba. Wonderful day trip to Havanna with Jennifer in a classic 56 chevy!!!

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Great Cuba Resort

Staff are wonderful throughout the hotel. Beach is beautiful. Food was good for Cuba. Rooms were clean yet getting old. Beds were uncomfortable. Pools were clean and lots of chairs. Three days in a row they did not have clean towels.

Club Kawama: So so resort

The beach is amazing as for the resort mediocre at best. Staff also not very friendly with the exception of Grisly in the front reception. Very helpful. The food is one star at best and the night shows terrible.

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Wonderful resort

Stayed one week Aug.21/16 to Aug.28/16. What a beautiful week. The weather was really nice, sunny everday. The resort itself was really nice, not big and not small, just right. The rooms really nice and modern. They were very clean. The restaurants were good and the buffet was also good, they always had a variety of food. There is a place called Mike's bar which is amazing. I forgot to mention that the buffet had air conditioning also which is a plus especially when it is very hot. The beach was just beautiful and alot of entertainment. Thank you to Glenda, Jenny, Grey, Carlos and the rest of the gang. Always keeping us busy. There was also a foam party in the pool which was alot of fun. All in all I really liked this resort and I would come back. I would recommend this resort to anybody.

Barcelo Solymar: in need of renovation

Resort was not well kept. in need of major renovations. Very run down. No hot water. locks on doors not functioning properly. Broken doors, locks,safe, walls, ... not fixed once damaged. water leaks in rooms, mold, and smell. air conditioner not working. told staff about problems but no repair in sight. food is limited. if something is finished during buffet it is not restocked!! example pasta was finished -- that's it no more.. the list goes on.. VERY DISAPPOINTING in general

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Great resort!!!

The resort was one of the best place that I've ever been to in varadero. I would definitely go back great staff. Very clean air conditioning in the buffet and in all the resaurants and at Mikes cafe. The coffee at mikes was amazing had many varieties of coffee and smoothies. The entertainment was amazing expecially there foam party in the pool. There is nothing negative to say about this resort. Go you won't regret it!!!

Starfish Jibacoa: Not worth the time or money

Was here for one week in the late August of 2016. Weather was fine, although very humid and hot. Beach: not very clean, found broken glass several times. Always some sort of garbage like plastic cups, straws, cans. A lot of rocks. Could be so much more pleasant if it was cleaned regularly. Couldn`t really swim due to shallow waters and seaweed near the shore. For some people it might not be an issue I suppose. Room: I lived in a bungalow. It was alright. The air woprked well, and there was h [... read more]ot and cold running water all the time. Ran into a problem of ants and mosquitoes in the room. Furniture is really old and falling apart. But it does it`s job. Food: the only buffet restaurant is a good size, but the food variaty wasn`t at all great. I have been to similar level hotels, and it was better. "Salad bar" was usually a mix of foods from the previous meal. Many times locals would come and stay for the afternoon. That was a disaster. You really need to get the food fast, otherwise you`ll be stuck with bread and cucumbers. There is one a la carte restaurant. Had two bites of the meal and went to the buffet. Seafood plate was simply uneatable. It looked very much like the food from the main buffet, but put on the plate and bbrought out to you. Spent most of the evening and the following morning in the washroom. Drinks were always served in tiny plastic cups, even at the a la carte restaurant. Many times there was no mint for the mojito, that was upsetting. Setrvers are slow and not very friendly with maybe a couple exceptions. Unless you ask for a refill, it won`t happen. Also, whenever the locals came and had lunch, all sevice was focused on them. That was not a pleasant experince. Buffet building is rediculously hot. Even witht he statioanry airconditioners and ceiling fans. Almost like they want you out as soon as possible. Transat agent: someone is here severaltimes per week, but our first meeting he really didn`t tell us much. Also, nobody informed me that the flight got delayed. The book that I was told to check the night before had no changes. Same the morning of the flight. Luckily, I do not travel with little children and can just hang out at the lobby for a few extra hours. Overall experince was alright. It rained on my last day here in the morning as well as a few times during the night in the week of my stay. Best part of the trip was a day in Habana. Really enjoyed it, although it was rediculously hot. I`ll have to come back in April and go back to that city. CONCLUSION: Hotel is OK. Nothing more. Not a place I want to return to. Not the worst place, but I`d suggest maybe even paying a little more to avoid crouds of locals (way too loud and arrogant).

Barcelo Solymar: great resort

The resort was very clean, friendly and fun! Very fun for young adults aged 20-35. Right beside the beach. The beach is beautiful and clean. The food was fair, drinks are very good. Would recommend i the summer and winter!

Melia Marina Varadero: Just so so

Room was generally clean, but there are a lot of ants around the room. Food was not that great. Restaurant was hard to book (need to book 2 days in advance), only 1 reservation allowed for a 4 night stay. Buffet restaurant had lots of flies around the food. They also have a $20 charge per day to use the beach canopy bed.

Palma Real: Palma real

Amazing pools, if you like clubbing it's the place to go as clubs are nearby. The rooms are spacious, beds are comfortable. The food is alright be sure to bring your own spices as it's pretty bland. Very big resort. Staff is nice. Daily shows and participation games in the afternoon.

Melia Las Antillas: Amazing beach & ocean *

The hotel itself was OK,but need to be updated...the room was comfortable and clean.The food was not the best,but loots of variety....service can be better ~ lot of them don't speak English....nightly entertainment very good. But when I saw the beach and ocean ..beautiful white sand ,clean, turquoise and warm water I forget all of that and enjoyed my days. Thank you Gina Kiriakopoulos . x

Melia Las Antillas: plus average resort

The location of the hotel is good, distance from the sea, about the right. building is clean but old. elevator need to be repaired. several times we walked to reach upper levels, while my wife is suffering from leg joint problem. all the people serving the hotel are very friendly. at reception, at bar, in restaurants, and buffet. the entertainment programs were very good. dancers were amazing.I personally enjoyed them. but I was sad about one thing, their socks were teared off. the dancers nee [... read more]d to have better and new cloths. drinks were good available any time. food in buffet had average quality, while the behavior of the servers were excellent. If you want to get more customer you need to invest on followings: 1- arrange slideshow about history and geography of Cuba. this could be an outdoor program. 2- arrange a program (class room) to teach people about food by getting help from a nutritionist. 3- arrange out door exercise. Melia Marina Varadero: Beautiful resort, very nice staff!

The pool and grounds were very nice and Clean! The beach was a short walk away... One of the best beaches we ve ever been to, with even a bar hut to get drinks! First day on beach there was music... Having music the other days would have been great also! Thx for the great stay!

Melia Marina Varadero: Lovely resort, excellent vacation

While our flight times were less than ideal, arriving at the resort relieved a lot of stress. We were welcomed promptly and the service was fabulous. When we first got there, the machine for our room key didn't work but they handled it with grace and gave us a new room within 10 minutes. Everything was very clean, the rooms are beautiful and spacious. The beach isn't that far at all and they offer a lot of activities on the beach so its well worth going over the bridge. I highly recommend.

Muthu Playa Varadero: Overall disappointing

The grounds were ok , the beach is beautiful. The room was fine , the bathroom was odd- shower half covered so there was no way to shower without soaking the floor. It was strange & annoying to me that there were no signs provided for the door ie/ please make up the room / do not disturb - so they came in every day - some days we just wanted fresh towels , which we could never get enough from day 1 . They gave 2 towels for 4 of us (one size , no washcloth etc) every time we had to ask for more  [... read more]and to have them changed . The wifi was bad - pay for use but every time we went to pay they said it was down or not working well so they wouldn't recommend - saw a few people trying and getting frustrated .. So don't count on having it...The food was horrible . I was told you don't go to Cuba for the food but it was worse than I expected . Food has no flavour and below the quality we are used to getting here. Even simple things were awful - I would think you would have to try to be that bad & nothing is covered so flies are all over the food, as well as a few birds flying over head and stopping to nibble. There were few activities and shows but much less than other places I've been. The staff was mostly nice - a few rude - it's like tip in order to get good service not tip for receiving good service . I expected more from a 4 star as I've been to 3's that were better . It was a first trip for the kids (7&12) and they were ready to go home after 2 days . One of the worse parts : they gave a "hospitality" room for us to get ready for the airport - which was a good thing - with check out at noon and flight at night but we had 1 hand towel ( first I'd seen a hand towel there lol) ONE hand towel to dry 4 of us after showering - we called the desk but they never brought any . I had to use the hair dryer to dry off 😬. Overall we were disappointed . I wish we had gone someplace else even if it cost a bit more . It was a vacation and an experience but I wouldn't go back.
