Paradisus Rio De Oro: Still beautiful as ever

I went back after 14 years, still an amazing resort on all level of service. The resort needs a overhaul as it was closed for so long and some upgrades Will go again no questions asked ❤️ Nothing much I went with 7 friends and we all had an amazing time it was first time for 2 of them and they enjoyed a lot

Paradisus Varadero: Just Don't

Please go anywhere else but Cuba. The resort was decent as far as structure and pools and beach. Not everyone knows how to make a drink. So good drinks were few and far between. Four of us went and we all came home with stomach issues. There are alot of shortages in Cuba so food is being highly affected and reused day over day in the buffets. Resturants were no better. Excursions cancelled due to fuel shortages as well. No potatoes not even a french fry was avaliable to try and stay on the safe  [... read more]side. A complete waste of money. Our rooms curtians were broken bathroom mirror rotting. We offered to pay for an upgrade to royal service and were declined. Just dont do it. Sunwing vacations were no help. I will NEVER book a sunwing vacation again in my lifetime. No business class on flights. Looked into paying $50 per person for elite but dont do that either elite is the exact same as everyother seat on the plane. $50 per person each way if you want to sit at the emerg exit row. Just Crazy. $25 per person each way for a carry on? Sunwing nor Cuba ever again. I could go on. Oh wait should i mention that we couldn't exchange our towels for clean ones because of laundry service shortage. Employees seemed to really be trying but alot was out of thier control. Spa didn't have steam room or sauna working and mini bar had only water and two beers a day. We were told it was due to shortages. There's more but quite frankly its too much to list.

Paradisus Varadero: my observations

Very nice, beach and resort, too bad they do not maintain it properly. None of the beach showers worked, some toilets were closed, some had no papers, etc... If something breaks down, they don't fix it.

Sol Palmeras: Loved it!

I love the style of the hotel. And its various indoor lounge areas are just perfect. We had a superior room: it was great except for the AC rattle, but we didn't mind enough to ask for servicing. The grounds are nice and well kept. I loved the layout of the whole place! The food was good and never ran out. For allergy/food intollerance purposes, it might be a good idea to cook fish and seafood on different stations (we avoided fish because of this). You need limes though... please? The beach is AMAZING. We didn't spend time in or around the pools, we go to Varadero for the BEACH, and Sol Palmeras was PERFECT for this. :D

Sol Palmeras: Amazing resort

Very clean resort. Very friendly staff. Good food. Good drinks. Always fresh towels. Beach towels were plentiful. Lots of interaction for guests. Great shows. Animation staff was awesome. Only bored if you want to be.

Melia Cayo Santa Maria: Totally disappointed!

My 3rd time to the Melia Cayo Santa Maria. 8th time to Cuba, so we always go with low to medium expectations. But this time things were below low standard. Many resorts in the area were the same. The food was the worst I’ve ever seen. IE: no eggs until day 6. No nutritional food at all and selection was dismal. Simply unexceptional. Only 1 out of 5 restaurants opened so we only received 1 a la carte which was not very good at all. Beach grill never opened which is an awesome place to have lunc [... read more]h. Spraying for mosquitoes while people were actually walking to the lobby at 8am and 4pm. Was always done early mornings and evenings. So many small things that simply indicated management (Melia) does not care about there visitors. It has nothing to do with most staff. I spoke with the Melia district manager and all he could say was he was sorry. We brought friends for the first time and they were shocked and would never consider Cuba again. I’ve been to this resort on 2 other occasions in November and never seen things this bad! This experience made us decide never to return to Cuba again, as we’ll be spending our hard earned dollars somewhere else. So disappointed as we will miss the people and the lovely beaches.

Tryp Cayo Coco: A wonderfull resort

Some parts of the resort have just been renovated buffet has air conditioning know all new lobby furniture alot of the hotel has been painted alot of hot water for showers food was ok remember this is Cuba not Canada for food the staff go out of there way to make you happy and best beach with lots of chairs and shade thankyou to all the staff you are family will return soon

Sol Palmeras: Amazing Resort!!

The hotel is located on one of the most beautiful long beaches. Beautiful landscape throughout. This was my 6th stay at this resort, they are always updated the rooms and bungalows. Never had an issue with food shortages. All staff are extremely friendly and have made some great friends. Odarmis, Caridad, Yagueline, Idelarmis (Pudding lol) to name a few. Wouldn’t consider booking anywhere else ❤️❤️

Melia Las Americas: Disappointed

Have been here 5 times. This was first time after Covid. Used to love this place but so disappointing this time. Lack of cocktails and champagne. No beer on tap. Staff seem very unhappy. Very unfriendly. Level upgrade rooms no balcony or terrace. Very limited food selection. Food used to be great but not so now. Beach still one of most beautiful we have been to.

Paradisus Varadero: Ruin in need of serious reno or demolition.

Beautiful beach with old dirty lounge chairs. Two beautiful pools with 6 showers, one working. Most pool umbrellas broken. Pool ladies washroom closed. Lobby mans washroom stinks. Broken stalls. Most rooms not available, used for storage and full of mattresses and furniture. Poorly lit walkways or no lights at all (Reserva side) Garbage all around and on the beach. Nobody cares to pick it up. Overgrown grass all around. Main pool hummock dirty with hole in the middle. Looks like its bee [... read more]n there since opening 23 years ago. Air Canada rep nowhere to be found. Lobby's staff denies to call the rep. Cigar store is a disgrace to Cuban tobacco industry with rip off prices. Most of the brands 30% cheaper in Canada. Same at the airport. Food below even for Cuban standards except pasta, meat, fish stations and roast pork. The rest is mostly cold and distasteful. Creative food recycling (left overs served next day in new dishes) raised to art form. Very unpleasant. Best food at 24/7 pool bar. Chicken, Cuban and hamburger sandwiches. Ketchup and some days mustard. Broken bathroom fixture and ripped windows curtains. Upon arrival relocated from main area to Reserva section far away. Four hours wait for room. Instant coffee at restaurants. Good coffee at lobby's bars. Good tonic and watery drinks. Tip well. They need it. Ask Reserva lobby staff for money exchange guy. 1CDN=200 peso. Do not use Cadeca. Robbery rate. Would i go again...no. Go to newly build resorts like Grand Aston Varadero and Melia International.

Melia Cayo Santa Maria: Paradise

The hotel is the perfect size. We came For a girls trip and we’re not disappointed!!! The staff were amazing, pool was clean, lots of beach and pool chairs, never went hungry. Not a ton of variety in terms of food but it’s such a small resort likely can’t afford to throw anything away. Rooms were clean and spacious.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Great resort

This was our 4th time staying at this resort which we loved before but this time we found it to be less than a 5star resort, the grounds were not kept as before, the food was not as good as the previous times but we were notified of the food shortage prior to going to Cuba The people working at this resort were as pleasant and friendly and welcoming as all previous times, especially our butler Yas and William at the royal service. Overall it was a great week the beach being the main reason we went back once more but the food was the main downfall this time

Melia Buenavista: Service 5, Food 1

We just got back from a week at the Melia Buenavista. The staff were amazing! Anderson Coll, Navy, and the entire entertainment team really made our stay special. The yoga and dance classes were outstanding! Our butlers, Rey and Elina were excellent. The three beaches are truly spectacular. Unfortunately, our food was quite poor. My husband and I both had stomach issues and were each bedridden for a day. There were many bugs and I had to apply bug spray as often as I applied sunscreen. I came [... read more] home with many itchy swollen bug bites. Also, the resort is older and our room had several issues that required fixing. Our butlers were great at getting this done but it meant we didn't have access to our room at times.

Melia Las Americas: Amazing

Great hotel The staff was great the facility are fantastic beach is second to none We travel to Cuba in March and November every and golf is very enjoyable We always recommend this hotel to all of our friends and lol forward to our next trip. On March 16 2024

Melia Internacional: Melia international

This hotel is very modern. The lobby is lovely with all its newness. The rooms are very big, the washroom a good size. The pool is lovely, not crowded. The meals in the buffet were delicious, however the meals in the smaller buffet were not as good. The specialty restaurants were delicious. We tried Texmex, Japanese and Italian. All very good. Melia Cayo Coco: Great resort

Very well maintained and clean hotel . Rooms were dated but extremely clean and very comfortable. Shortages in hot water and morning and evening time were noticeable. Hotel Staff was extremely accommodating and was doing the best to resolve any issues. The grounds were very well maintained . The food was very good considering all the food shortages in Cuba which was just recovering after pandemic. Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Well managed resort

In the past, we had stayed at the Hotel Paradisus, but due to hurricanes that hotel’s beach is almost nonexistent, it is full of coral; but since we love Playa Esmeralda we decided to try out Sol Luna Mares since the latter had been renovated. We were pleasantly surprised. The grounds were beautiful, the beach was stunning as expected. We had reserved a room with ocean-view and to our great surprise, our room had cathedral ceilings! I had cappuccino’s to my heart’s content. I have to mention how clean all the public bathrooms were. At the beach, the lady whose name I believe was Ymilce, cleaned the bathroom after each person who entered. Amazing! The only thing we were disappointed with was the food. Yes, yes, this is Cuba and the situation is really bad, but I think if they just offered a little more vegetables instead of canned mushrooms, canned beets and canned carrots, it would be an amazing improvement. The only fresh vegetables they had were cucumbers, oh also pumpkin. If you like, french fries, hamburger, hot dogs, sweet potatoes, pizza, pasta, pancakes, cakes, doughnuts, then you will be happy with the selection. They also had a very good selection of fresh fish, chicken, porc, and even steak and delicious pineapple and papaya. I hope that in future, the hotel will be able to add fresh vegetables, real eggs for omelettes instead of powdered eggs, cold cuts and maybe a better variety of cheese. If they make these changes, this hotel will easily become a 5 star hotel. In the meantime, we definitely intend to return to this hotel, since it is beautiful and well managed. Not to mention, the amazing employees which make this place even more special. In the meantime, gracias to the management, a job well done.

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Beautiful Resort

Very spacious and clean. Pool looks clean and neat. Beach area looks nice and tidy. Snack bar opens 24/7 with tasty burgers and hotdogs. Lots of drinks. Wi-Fi available throughout the resort. Cleaning ladies are always on time

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Very Good Resort

Lovely resort, nice rooms, great staff and management. Front desk staff very accomodating. Very few shortages for Cuba. Beach a bit difficult for swimming but still nice. Grounds very pretty and well maintained. My third time there and will return.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Great Holiday!

Well kept hotel with wonderful friendly staff. Food for Cuba was well executed considering the difficulties there. We did not miss any meals!!!You have a bit of a drive from the airport, just under one hour but it was a comfortable bus and a chance to view the countryside. The rooms were clean and had updated bathrooms . Reliable Wifi available in the rooms .Beach was clean and private but water had a lot of coral but great for snorkeling . Overall exceeded our expectations
