Resonance Blu Santa Maria: Great experience

Our experience at the Starfish Resort was better than we expected. We have been to Cuba several times before and this was by far the best. The staff is very friendly and helpful(Treat them as you would like to be treated - great people), the grounds well kept, the food was very good and lots of selections, and the beach was to die for. Just a couple of minor things to take care of - a posted menu of drinks at the bars would make it easier for new comers(ie. the common mixed drinks, but also recommended local favorites) and also the beach towel issue, which we understand was not the resorts fault but the outside cleaning company. We have traveled to the Dominican, Bahamas, Jamaica, and Florida and as I said before, several times to Cuba, but this years vacation ranked with the best. In the ratings above I only registered a 4, this resort was closer to a 4.5. I hope the new Canadian owners maintain and fine tune this resort to it's full potential, because I know I will keep a watch on next years deals with a hope to return. Good Luck

Resonance Blu Santa Maria: Amazing Time. Beyond my wildest expectations

Words can never explain or cover the amazing time we had at Starfish. This resort went beyond the beyond in customer service to see that we had an exquisite five star stay. Everything was immaculate and perfect. The food was unbelievable. First class buffet. Excellent choices. Never able to try everything in the week we were there. The beach was to die for. Resonance Blu Santa Maria: Pleasently Surprised

We booked at the last minute and then checked the reviews....the resort had some pretty bad reviews over the holidays. Called our agent and expressed our concern over some of the comments and was told the resort had been purchased by a new company and where in transition, but we should go and give it a try and that they were just a call away if we had issues......we had a great holiday. Playa Pesquero: Great family trip with school age children!

Our family travelled to this resort from Jan. 17-24th and had a wonderful trip! The people who work at the buffet were simply amazing (Barbara and Kenya in particular) and made our trip that much better! The beach was spectacular and lots of chairs available even though it was very busy. There is a small bar located on the beach which made it easy to grab a drink without walking to far with young children. We were also impressed with the quality of the food at this resort. Great meals and select [... read more]ion in the buffet and restaurants. There are only a couple of negative things to note and one would be the size of this resort. Our young children found it exhausting to walk such a far distance from the room to the beach and from the lobby to our room. There are small carts that are available to pick you up and take you around the resort however they are usually full. The only other negative thing for us was the set up in our room. My husband and I slept in a two single beds pushed together side by side and our children had to sleep in single cots. Not a huge deal but not a very comfortable arrangement for longer vacations.

Resonance Blu Santa Maria: Wonderful Resort

Cayo Santa Maria has an amazing beach. Although it takes approx 90 minutes by bus and is a bit remote, it is definitely worth the experience. Free sight seeing experience if you travel by day! We stayed at the Starfish. It is truly a beautiful resort, the grounds are lovely, the staff are very friendly, been to Cuba many times and by far the staff are the most friendly. The room was good, no hot water one day, but still no big deal. There is a small market, only a 5 minute walk away, take the walk between buildings 2 and 3. Or you can take a free ride on a golf cart at no charge, but nice to leave a tip for the driver. The coffee in the lobby bar is pretty good, the service is good. I would recommend this resort and would return. The reason I rated the location as average is only because it is a bit remote and it takes approx 90 minutes to get there.

Playa Pesquero: Superb

Everything was good: accommodation, beach, food, service, people working in the hotel and on the grounds. We enjoyed our stay and hope to return in the future. We especially enjoyed walking on the beach; didn't read much; didn't miss internet, computers, phones, that kind of stuff.

Playa Pesquero: Cuban Paradise

We found Playa Pesquero to be beyond our expectations. Our room was located close to the beach, the pool and one of the buffets. It was clean and bright. The staff at the hotel were always smiling and doing their best to make your stay an experience that would encourage you to return..

We had a great room that had been recently renovated. Food was better than expected. The beach was beautiful, and the Cuban people were really nice! Pool was nice but could use more cleaning. Great trip!

Resonance Blu Santa Maria: Amazing resort!

I have been to Cuba at least 10 times and the Starfish resort did not disappoint us. The grounds were clean and well kept, as well as the rooms. The food was wonderful, with a wide variety. I never had to eat the same thing twice, however I couldn't resist the fried rice they made up fresh for us at a grill, or the chocolate bananna crepes!! And the lobster night was amazing. They were spectacular!! Pool was great and do I have to tell anyone about the beautiful powder white sand beaches??? SERVICE AND STAFF VERY PROFESSIONAL AND FRIENDLY and the cabaret shows were all first class,highly recommended. Beaches beautiful... the management made every effort to serve us well and they succeeded!!!

Playa Pesquero: Quiet, beautiful, relaxing resort.

The best features of this hotel are the pool and the staff. Very pleasant. Great for families. The buffet is average but the restaurants " a la carte" are excellent. You need to reserve them in advance. The room was very clean. I would recommend this place to anyone.

The appearance of the resort was amazing as well as the food ...However, everything else needs alot of improvement. The service in general was below average, resort is tooo big and wide spread that golfcarts were needed to get around (interrupting your walking space), timming of restaurants and buffets were unusually late, no alarm clock in the bedroom or anywhere in the resort for the exception of the front desk, entertainment needs alot of improvment, no bar at the sports bar. very nice set up....but we were very desapointed...we were there for 14 days..for 3 days we did not get the bathtowels changed..the ones that were in had a bad smell. clean beach towels were not available often .The room was fairly cleaned.There was no paper tissues(kleenex), we had to complained to get the bedshits changed. The food in general wasn't exciting,lots of varieties..lack of quality.. some of the staff were wonderfull...some were not at all..(at the bar of the grill resto.)

the grounds was very nice, well kept. The room was clean, we did run out of hot water for a day but was soon fixed once we notified front desk. This was my first trip to the south and can not wait to go back! I am still pinching myself to make sure it was real.

Dec 30, 2014 to Jan 6 2015 - LOVE CUBA & SANTA MARIA ISLAND! been there many times. This was my 1st disappointment. Check in took 4 hours. Very disorganized. All beverages "self serve" ! Line up at bar if you want a drink. No clean towels. 3 days no water! Closed all restaurants for New Years and opened Buffet only. Line up took 4 hours to eat!! He did send us to another resort further up beach where we were happy and service was great. So, Im sure this resort is getting a major overhaul by Management. Resonance Blu Santa Maria: Great Holiday in the Warmth

This was a different holiday for us because we usually do not do all inclusive, but the people at this resort make your holiday a joy. They were very attentive and happy after all of the changes they have been through lately. The scenery is stunning ,amazing sand beaches. There is a lot of activities from Yoga to crazy Bubble Dances in the pool .There are two identical sides to this huge place and if one bar was too noisy ,the other bar was perfect for sitting quietly and chatting. The food was excellent ,a variety of fresh fruit and vegetables and many different dishes of meat.( Even lobster two nights in the buffet.) The rooms are big and well maintained,if anything was not working the maintenance crew was right there All the regular tours are available ,but you need to remember you are on an island and everything takes longer to get to. There is a nature reserve close by for a hike and it is just that ..take water and good hiking shoes it is a long walk to the beach in +30 weather. Many photo op pictures for the flora/fauna folks. Resonance Blu Santa Maria: Not a good choice. Under new management

The negatives Unfortunately the service and quality of food was subpar. We were a group of 12 travelling from Jan. 2 - 9/15. New owners had taken over and alot of things were lacking. Buffet food was cold or dried out from sitting too long. The cuts of meat were low grade, mostly bone, tough, or lots of fat. Canned fruit cocktail and pineapple rings for the first few days. Other times you had to wait at [... read more] the bar for a drink.Stick with the a-la-cartes where food was freshly prepared. Couldn't get a fresh beach towel, unless you asked front desk. The sheets weren't changed on the beds all week. Obvious linen problems. They ran out of beer by noon. More arrived by 2 or 3. The lobby washroom ran out of toilet paper and soap by 8. There were so many fixable problems that became glaring when added up. The hotel manager had only arrived 3 days previous. He did accommodate our request for an upper floor, after a 4 hour wait for the room to be cleaned. They were short staffed and overwhelmed when a new bus from the airport would arrive. The positives One of the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen. Soft, powder, white sand. The grounds were well kept and clean. We were lucky to have beautiful weather. The rooms were cleaned daily. We had a great vacation since we had met up with family members and enjoyed ourselves. Antonio at the Cuba restaurant/grill endeavored to make our stay memorable. Eat at the a-la-cartes, better service and food quality. Once this resort gets their act together, it can be a good place to go to.

Playa Pesquero: Amazing Resort

The hotel was great, the service was amazing and people were simply great. I will definitely go back there! I really enjoy the food, the beach was excellent, and the service is just amazing. The restaurants were well staffed!
