Melia Internacional: Amazing Beach

The hotel is very nice. It is huge. The pool is also very big. The beach is breathtaking. Service in the bars and at the beach (I was Level guest) was good. Wait staff were friendly when they got to know you. The food in the restaurants was okay ... there was a cockroach issue in every restaurant, including the main buffet, which was disappointing to say the least. I reported my concern to the conceirge who advised the hotel was aware of the problem and was working to remedy it. Cockroache [... read more]s were walking up the legs, beside where the plates are kept, to the buffet, they were also crawling across the floor in the main buffet and on chairs in two of the eating places where I saw them myself. Two friends were sitting eating breakfast and had two walking across their table. The rooms are nice and the beds were changed every day which is always nice. There was a problem the last night where we were left one towel and went and asked for another and it never did arrive at the room. Strawberries were non-existent and some of the food on the a-la-carte menus was not available. The smaller buffet also ran out of black tea on our last day there. The entertainment is amazing! The activities staff is always present, happy and engaging. All in all, a good spot. It has to be remembered that this is Cuba and they do their very best to make your stay comfortable and meet your needs and expectations and some things are just beyond their control. I would recommend this hotel for sure.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Not a 5 star anymore

Two good things of this Resort: great pools and great beach Issues: Took three times to get a decent tolerable room No working air conditioning in one Broken security box Leaking on floor toilet Broken balcony door/lock No cork for bathtub Ongoing issue getting access key entry into our room Maid service missed our room more than once with no fresh towels a few days Food supply limited with no protein-meat non existent most meals. Luke warn food. Undercooked food. No salads. No sli [... read more]ced breads. Poor poor food choices all week. Cocktail variety was very limited. My daughter visited this resort 8 years ago and enjoyed a five star type service which wanted us to try this Resort again. This time we would not recommend and would now classify it to be maybe a two star. In closing I would like people reading this review that I have visited Cuba at least 15 times at various resorts mostly in Varadero as well as Caya Coco, Hoguin and Caya Santa Maria and would conclude that this Resort has been my least favourite by far.

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Amazing resort

Everything was nice - clean, lots of green areas, people are very nice and attentive. Beach area is superb! THe only problem I had was mosquitos, didn't use the pool areas as beach was great and very short walk from the hotel.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: Excellent

Everything was great with excellent food. No shortage issues. Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: Great Food and hospitality.

The Adult Only section of Sanctuary with private beach section is a bit small and uneventfull, but thankfully the main "Family" section called Grand Memories located a verry short walking distance away was much bigger, busier and active. Food was above and beyond expectations having been to the other end of the island twice in the past. No issues with food shortages.Only Cola on two occasions. Buffet as good as can be expected or wished for. Great snacks and food at the snack bar 24 hrs a d [... read more]ay. Main bar open 24 hrs also. The hop on hop off bus at $5.00 per day to Varadero and along the over 40 neighbouring resorts was a Great feature to get off the resort. Temperatures were a bit hot , 35 degrees in late May though, and being off season. Beautiful beaches as expected. USA and Cdn dollar bills accepted. Not coins though. Best trip so far out of 3 to Cuba.

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Average trip to Cuba

Starting with the beach it was awesome!! This is the reason we travel to Cuba. Food was very repetitive at this resort, although we did not starve the a la cartes all offered the same menu options (chicken,fish or pork) that is pretty much what we ate all week for dinner. Beach snack var had hamburgers, ham and cheese, pasta, hot dogs. Coffee was hit and miss, ran out some days also beer. No shows a [... read more]t the theater at night, there was some entertainment in the lobby every evening (singer,sax player, band) The hotel seemed to be in its low season as there were not many guests the week we were there, maybe 100 total. That could be the reason for the lack of food options and entertainment. No activities at the beach or pool areas during the day. All in all it was a relaxing vacation, not sure I would return to this resort unless it was a super great deal $$ to go.

Sol Palmeras: Average, but beach is great!

Maximum 3 star resort, price must be no more than 1k C$ for 7 nights. May is good month to be on this resort, ocean is warm and great for adult and kids. Enough sun beds on the beach, there is a lunch restaurant close the the beach. Nothing exiting, only beach is good

Blau Varadero: Highly Recommended Resort

This is my first time at the Blau Varadero. I would highly recommend the resort to others. a few shortages, but nothing to complain about. The, food for me was ok, no complaints from me. The resort is clean, the staff is amazing and friendly. The entertainment crew gets you involved and the beach bar night disco keeps your dancing all night long. But, you need to bring Mosquito bug spray and we did find ants in our room. ** something to watch for**

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: The perfect get away

This resort is the perfect get away for me. It has delicious foods, friendly customer service, clean rooms, friendly and cheerful cleaners, waiters and waitresses are very down to earth superb specially at Alegance ( I’ll give these people two thumbs up for their services), gardeners are friendly as well and greet you “Ola” all the time.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: RELAXING WELCOMING RESORT

This resort was very nice, welcoming and relaxing! It was unusually hot the week we went thank goodness air conditioning in rooms, restaurants and bar worked well. Wasn't enough covered/shaded areas outside to cool off. Pool area was very nice however the lounge chairs collapsed. One of the employees was kind enough to get us 2 good ones. Pork seems to be the major food which was hard as we don't eat port. Selectum Family Resort Varadero: New isn't always better.

This is my 4th visit to Varadero (March 28-April 4) and I thought I would try this new resort. I loved my ocean view (Room 1432), the newness and the layout of it, as it overlooked the pools/entertainment area. I could sit and enjoy the shows from the comfort of my balcony. The entertainment staff are exceptional. Poolside, evening shows or lobby bar. I enjoyed the musicians at the lobby bar several evenings and those drinks - YUM! As a non smoker, I appreciated the designated smoking areas.  [... read more]As for the food, every day there were several types of yogurt, breads, pastries, milk for cereal and a variety of fruits and fruit juices. I don't eat eggs, but I did see several egg options. Lunch offered salads, cheeses, deli meats, fish, chicken, beef. Not as much pork as other resorts, lots of cabbage and pumpkin. The buffet is unorganized and under staffed with no visible Manager. Those workers couldn't keep up with the demand of clearing and cleaning tables, resetting and providing coffee/hot water/libations. From travelling to resorts over the past 30 years, this is the worst buffet layout and food I have experienced. That's not to negate the workers - it's a comment to management. I expected more. The workers that clean the rooms is hit and miss. My worker was friendly but towels weren't changed out, I made the bed more than the worker, floors rarely cleaned and bathroom / shower not touched. There are USB plugs on each side of the bed (I had king size), working safe, and plenty of hangers. I read many comments on the beach and all is true. The area near the pier has no rocks upon entry; otherwise, it's not a smooth entry as there are rocks. It's a bit of maneuvering, and sometimes comical, to get past the rocky entrance and then it's wonderful. It's not coral. I didn't wear shoes and not cuts to my feet, but I did see others wear them. Whatever is your comfort level. As a Sunwing patron, I took advantage of the one free dinner at the VIP restaurant. The 7th floor location offered lovely ocean/canal views, beautiful setup and good service. The Sunwing menu is preset vs the menu given to paying visitors. My meal left much to be desired. The beer was cold and the champagne was delicious! Overall, for me, I found this resort lacked personality. In speaking with repeat visitors, it has decreased in services in less than a year, which I can see from lack of upkeep in elevators, main floors - but the lobby is kepy clean! As a PSA, be mindful if you keep your suitcases locked in the complimentary storage room. I discovered items stolen from my carry on bag once I reached the airport. The only time my carry on was out of my sight was when in storage. I took advantage of this service due to the several hours lag time before the airport transfer. I was sad from this as in all of my Cuban visits, I have never had this happen. For the reasons above, I would not return to to this resort.

Occidental Arenas Blancas: Great resort

The resort was clean. i’ve been to many different countries Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Mexico, and Vadero has the best beach They were doing some update repairs, you need to remember you’re going to Cuba. The food is the food and yes, there is shortages of drinks, food etc. but we go for the beach, to disconnect and relax so it suits our purpose 100% and we will return. If you are going to Cuba for the food and drinks party, etc. This is not the country for you.

Occidental Arenas Blancas: Better than we imagined!

Our visit April 2024 was amazing. We went prepared for the worst and got above and beyond service from the resort. Yes the resort is in a process of repairs. To be expected after a lengthy time closed to tourist due to Covid with the added many tropical storms on a already weakened economy. Anyone would be hard pressed to be perfect. But we never went hungry we tried new things. We even tried food off resort and at local restaurants. The only issue we had in our room was TV was out when we arrived. We didn't go to watch TV though. My hubby likes the noise when I get ready to go out. Also our safe didn't work. Not a deal breaker I was prepared for everything. I've read other post with people complainants about bugs and stuff. Every tropical place we have been to had had some form of bugs. In the room or lizard. What do you expect the place is built in tropics and on sand? On that note never even seen an ant in our room. Our room was clean the bed was brand new and more comfortable than my bed at home. The AC was in top notch working order as well. I love the fact of how close the resort is to all the shops along the main drag. How convenient it is to get taxi and other forms of transportation. There are shortages but always had drinks and fun to be had. We will be back again. Can't wait to see what all changes with the repairs. The rep for Air Transit could be more friendly and actually pretend to get your request looked after for excursions and Airport VIP room. We will come back again. She kinda reminded me of how it felt in Mexico that your an annoyance to their day. As for the reps poor service I do not hold it against Air Tansit their planes and overall I have found to be way better than others like Sunwing.

Melia Internacional: Beach is good. That's all

The beach is AMAZING. White sand, clear blue water. The people at the lobby are not friendly. The red haired woman is a very RUDE person and very CONDESCENDING person. The towels in the room and the bed linens are VERY DIRTY.

Grand Aston Varadero Beach Resort: Fantastic Resort!!

We really enjoyed our stay at the resort. We had a great corner room with an amazing balcony where we could enjoy both the sunrise and sunset as it went around both sides. The food was good, everywhere was clean, staff were friendly and helpful. Lots of hot water and water pressure. Short trip from airport, we were the first dropped off and last picked up. (App 25 mins ride) Would definitely return if going to varadero again.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Can’t complain

Rooms super clean, grounds very well maintained,pools Awsum and clean,beach amazing water was super calm and warm, lots of see food and pork,staff very friendly and ready to serve, some shortages of certain foods but acceptable all in all 5star

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Iberostar laguna azul

The resort was ok. Maintenance needed on many parts of the resorts. Lights in hallways at night to see and feel safe going to your room. Staff was horrible pretty much everywhere. The odd staff 1 or 2 were nice. I Tipped them.

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Relaxing resort with an amazing beach

The resort was clean with an incredible beach! We had the Diamond Club package which allowed us to go to a sweet beach bar. Great bartenders and the most amazing BBQ out the back. Our most favourite meal of the day! At the lobby bar we received the best coffee on the resort from friendly staff. Our housekeepers kept our room in tip top shape.

Melia Internacional: Excellent Beach!

This resort is wonderful. First of all it is located on the best beach and the most beautiful turquoise waters. The rooms are very spacious and modern looking. Bottles of water, beer and drinks were stacked up daily. I would recommend, bring your own pillows if you can. Plenty of food and drinks all around. Added bonus, near the 24 hrs bar, there is an ice cream store with a variety of flavors. If you are s coffee lover and enjoy a tasty cup of Java, you won't find it here. Bring us dollars.

Barcelo Solymar: Amazing resort

It was my 6th time going to that resort and I love it. Love the people, love the beach and the food was ok. It was my second time this year going and I will definitely go back. I just wish that they would do more activities at the beach! But overall I love it!!!!
