Playa Vista Azul: Nice property

Clean grounds, good food, nice service, beautiful beach, great beach snack bar so close to the beach, easy access and great service. We took our 2 month old baby, wish I'd got a room in the main building as well as booked privilege the only elevator is in this building so it would have been better for the stroller and amenities, my complaint was with booking not enough was known about the property and how to book privilege. Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Not what I expected

Not A five star when it came to the food. The lack of spice garlic and onion along with The same food at the buffet every day really lacked quality and flavor. The beds were also very hard in the room. 😩 The grounds were perfect and the service was very good, also the shows were extremely professional but much work is needed in the food department before they can call that five star

Playa Vista Azul: Breath taking views

Our room was amazing. We were upgraded to an Ocean View room. The view for the sunsets were amazing. The rooms were great, always clean and cool. Big bed and great bath. Waking up and getting the special coffees as well as the bars were high lights. I would highly recommend this resort

Starfish Varadero: Not that great

This resort was horrible. I will never go back. Service was very poor. Pool was very dirty. I will not be going back to this resort again and would not recommend it to anyone. The shows were well done each night though so that was fun.

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Great resort!!

We traveled with my daughter, son in law and my granddaughters ages 6 and 10. Had a great time resort was nice rooms were nice clean and spacious. Food was good beautiful beach!! All the animators did a good job making our days enjoyable. Need improvement on the night shows.

Starfish Cuatro Palmas: Great club

I had wanted to try this resort out for a long time,the location is perfect!My mother came with me to Cuba and we were joined by my wife and her two daughters from Russia.We had just arrived and we were relaxing at the lobby bar when my mother decided to go look in a shop,after awhile I went looking for her.Unknown to myself she had fallen down 3 stairs to the lobby level.She seemed a little shaken but alright...the next day she told me that she felt she should have her foot looked at.Across the [... read more] street was the clinic.after X-rays it was determined she needed a cast.The hotel arranged for a different room,and I thought did their best to make us comfortable.All the staff,restaurant managers,manager and even the cooks went out of their way for us.They have a human resource woman named Annoushka who we thought was just amazing,she spent alot of time with my mother.She was fully re-embursed all her medical costs by the hotel and the manager arranged a limo for her and I to the airport ...he even got up early(6:00 am)to see us off.A few weeks later sunwing sent mom a check for 500 dollars as a gift.I highly recommend this property and even after our setback had a great holiday. Kudos to the sunwing rep as well for all his help.

Melia Marina Varadero: great escape

Had a really good time at Melia Marina.Enjoyed our short walk to the beach every morning. Great beach. Enjoyed the nigh time entertainment, great musicians, real talent. Our room was overlooking the pool and we could see the beach as well.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: 3 starts resort5

Melia Marina Varadero: Minor adjustments would go a long way.

'll start with the negatives first. We travelled in July 2016 as a couple. The "Classic Room" was spacious and everything was working (AC, coffee maker etc.). However, for all 4 nights, the bedsheets, pillows and blankets smelled like stale sweat. Usually, 5 star hotels don't have this problem. For the most part, the lunch and dinner buffet was disappointing. I'm a big meat eater, and here I was avoiding everything except for the chicken. The smoked meats, cheese trays and breakfast (abundance of croissants, fresh sausage, bacon) were excellent though. If you're ordering cocktails, the bartenders are poor mixers. As well, low quality ingredients are used. For example, I ordered a "Mohita" and got a sugary concoction with a soft drink version of lime juice added in. We enjoyed the scenery around the hotel and the interiors were consistently clean. We have no gripes with that. The access point to the beach was convenient.

Melia Marina Varadero: great get away

Had a great time, loved the beach. Only stayed 5 days but enjoyed the resort greatly.Nice room, enjoyed the 3-5 minute walk to the beach every morning. We realy like the night time entertainment, real musicians, great talent.

Hotel Bella Costa: Good Hotel, Would Go Back

The food is just OK. You find what you like and stick with that for the week. Surprisingly though, we ate a lot lol! I think it had to do with the thought of "maybe I won't find something I like for the next meal so I have to fill up now" mentality. It could also be because we looked forward to the staff. With the main bar in the lobby and the only place for WIFI, we were sweating buckets just sitting in there! Please put fans!!! For those who read bad reviews about this hotel consider this: The rooms have A/C while other hotels didn't. The service is IMPECCABLE while in other hotels, guests had to find their own things, including cutlery! They didn't run out of alcohol while another hotel bar did! I am only reiterating the conversations I had with other travellers on the shuttle bus to the airport at the end of our trip. We compared hotel stays and experience and I have to say, I thought my experience at Bella Costa was so much better than theirs!

Blau Varadero: Very nice resort

Great appearance to the hotel once inside; large open lobby with open courtyard and planters hanging down; a nice look and feel. Very nice and well kept grounds. Lacked some of the amenities that I am used to at hotels, like hair conditioner, lotion and plenty of towels. Staff were very nice and courteous. Beach is fantastic. Cuban resorts are not known for their food; I would rate the food as good; there was enough variety so that I could always find something I liked. Nightly show was okay; not a great draw. Got sick from the food on the Havana excursion. Tropicana show in Havana was excellent.

Melia Las Antillas: Average

The food was average, the cleanliness as expected but they never cleaned the bathtub or sink the whole time I was there. Grounds were fabulous, pool outstanding, too far to the beach. The beach however was amazing as were the activities on the beach.

Grand Memories Varadero: A Good Experience Overall

The overall service is fair, there were issues with room service. They wouldn't leave towels or water bottles some days. The day we landed we had no paper tower, towels, or water bottles in the room. Called reception and the room service took an hour to bring us paper towels. My mom couldn't walk to the beach as they put us in wing 11 which is far from the beach and whenever we called the cart we had to wait 30-50 mins for it to come. The food was good and so was the pool. Rooms were not up to 5 start standard and neither was the service. They really need to add fans to their lobby area, there is no cross ventilation there and it gets so humid and hot. You can only use internet in the lobby and the service is not so great plus with no fans or cross ventilation in the lobby it was so hard to use the internet.

Resonance Blu Varadero: Fun resort

My husband and I went with our 4.5 year old son, we had the Diamond Club upgrade which was very nice. The staff was amazing, they made the trip very enjoyable. The food at the buffet was good but very repetitive. We went to the Mexican Al a Carte, it was ok nothing extraordinary but not terrible. The Japanese and Cuban restaurants were good. The entertainment was great, we never visited the Kids Club because my son was more interested in being in the ocean and pool. They were quite busy on the w [... read more]eekend and we ran into issues with the buffet staff not being able to keep up with the demand for food. We did have to wait for them to restock it, which was fine we weren't in a rush. We were never able to get beach towels from the towel bar (they were always out) but our maid did bring us clean towels every second day. The resort was big so we did lots of walking, which we didn't mind, if you walk straight through the middle of the resort you save a bit of time. We stayed in building 32 which is right in betweem the beach and entertainment pool. The room was nice, clean but not fancy. Bed was ok, not the worst bed we've slept in and they gave us extra pillows and blankets after we requested them. We are laid back people so they fact that the outdoor showers were being repaired so out of service, buffet some days was low on food and beach towels were always gone didn't bother us, we really enjoyed our holiday anyways. Over all one of our better trips and for our first time in Cuba we were quite impressed with everything.

Muthu Playa Varadero: Good Value

Overall we had a good stay. Central AC was working but we were not able to regulate the temperature sp sometimes it was too cold for our liking. Food was ok and there was enough places to it. There was not to much variety as it is in some other resorts, but for a week stay there is plenty to choose from. Beach was amazing and not crowded with enough activities for those who want to participate. If you want to go to Varadero you will need to pay for a shuttle bus that stops nearby.  [... read more] The only objection was that we were given only 3 bottles of water while we stayed. Apparently that is all you get. Other resorts we visited supplied bottled water as needed. Of course you can buy water or you can go to the bar to get some. All in all, it was a good deal, and we enjoyed our stay. If you are not too picky it will be a good stay, otherwise look for more expensive resorts.

Melia Las Antillas: Sunwing Supersaver Room

I just returned from Melia Las Antillas,stayed week of July 25 to August 1st. My first response to this hotel was just average. After a day, it didnt seem that bad. Grounds were very nice, great pool, sparkling clean. Staff were always cleaning everywhere. The stafff were amazing, very friendly, always smiling and helpful at all times.The beach is a 10! Again 1st day I was not impressed, but felt better about the food as the week went on. Check in was very good, only 1 bus arriving at 8pm, quite organized. Exchanged currency then at front desk, 100cad gave me 70CUC. There is also a currency desk opened the following morning.Tips are shared between waiters and dish washers.. I enjoyed leaving nail polish, jewellery items, also gave dis razors, bandads, hairbands, ect., bungee cords and duck tape for the chair guy at the beach. I flew with Sunwing, all good, actually left 40 min early on return flight. My room with Sunwing was a supersaver suite, had king bed as requested and 2nd floor. I was travelling as a solo female, had room not far from lobby, close to al acartes and buffett.. Short walk to pool and beach. The room was very basic, clean, great AC. The view was non exsistant, looked over lower level buffett restaurant and entertainment terrace off lobby. but the live music was only before dinner and ended about 9pm. Upgrades to bungalow or 4 or 5th floor were costly, did not feel it was worth it. People said the extra services were nonexistant, just newer rooms with view because you were higher, you could see the ocean. but pool and ocean were quite distant, so view was not that great. All in all, I found initially this resort did not impress me, but after a day or so, not that bad. I booked late and prices had just increased by 200 the day before I booked( due to only 6 seats left on flight). As single, I paid 1665cad for the week. so this was quite high, compared to other places I have stayed 5* for less $$, but this was due to not booking earlier, and I wanted to try Cuba again.

Melia Marina Varadero: Stay away!!

I've been maybe 20 times down south and never been disappointed more that this hotel. Shortage of everything from towels to bottled water and long 15 minutes lines just to get into the buffet for dinner in steamy hot non air-conditioned facilities. The towel truck didn't arrive for 3 days. The better drinks were kept under the counter. Moved to be visible when some hot shot director came. "Mint" for mojitos - come back latter. Once you made it to the buffet long lines to get an omelet or a  [... read more]piece of grilled meat. Elevators were unsafe lights were not working and they were randomly stopping at floors. There is a service car that takes you to the beach.. I've waited with my daughter 15 minutes and it didn't show up. The advice from them was to "Take it easy is Cuba..." hard with a 2 years old daughter. No tennis or soccer or billiard or anything... Please do yourself a favor and stay away of this hotel especially because of the blatant lie of the 5 start rating. Every single employee of the hotel has a "scheme" where you have to pay them. I am not cheap on tips I spend $250 on this hotel just to survive and attempt to save my vacation. Smelly toilets the tables were not cleaned for hours... I'm done complaining. If you are an idiot spend your money here... So sorry to see Cuba became a nation of beggars.

Resonance Blu Varadero: 9th time! Going back again!

I had yet another memorable time at the Memories Varadero resort from July 18 - August 1, 2016. The meals at the Dragon Rojo Japanese restaurant and Fontana di Verde Italian restaurant were sumptuous. Looking forward to my next vacation at this resort.

Barcelo Solymar: Resort Needs Much Improvement

It seems that most of the renovations/improvements done at this resort are superficial and insignificant next to the basic necessities most have grown accustomed to. In short, my friend and I both grew very ill due to the filth in our room and a faulty air conditioner that did not work properly. When our room was cleaned, it was after 2pm.
