Whala Bavaro: Whala Bavaro

What did I think? Hmm well the proximity to the ocean was nice and close. The staff were very friendly. The downside was the food, not the best, plus not a ton of choices. Also I was not informed of the a la carte by staff upon arrival, I found out half way through my stay from a couple whom was staying there as well which left time for 1 out of 2 meals which are included in your package. As for entertainment, there is only one night a week at this resort which was disappointing.

Royalton Punta Cana Resort: Nice place it was ok

It was ok nothing to brag about the food was 7 out of 10 grounds were clean I found there were to many hands out looking for tips then there were the peddlers very pushy and rude had to tee them to back off wasn't happy

Majestic Colonial Punta Cana Beach Resort: Beautiful Resort, Amazing people, we will be returning

The pools, landscaping, entertainment and people were outstanding. It takes 10 minutes to walk the whole main pool!!!! We stayed at the Colonial Club section and it was worth the upgrade, I do have some negative comments about small things but they wouldn't affect us returning to the Majestic Colonial. We didn't like how long it took for our room to be cleaned. We are out of our room by 8:30am every morning and left the service room tag on the door. We had two days where they didn't show up unti [... read more]l 4pm and that was when we had our butler Diego call them. He made up for it by having the bathtub full with soap and rose pedals spelling love, very nice touch. Diego was a very nice guy but we felt he was easily distracted, as in we would ask him to have something ready for us like no seafood for my wife at the romantic dinner as she is allergic and the notes never made it too that restaurant. He also said he would arrange for our bags to be picked up on the day we left at 9:30 and no one ever showed up so we had to take our own bags to the lobby. We did not enjoy the Seafood Restaurant / Steak House, we felt the food quality was subpar compared to Le Gourmet / Japanese restaurant. We went to Le Gourmet 3 times for dinner and it was magnificent!!!! We thought the food at the Japanese restaurant was very good but the show was very lacking compared to other resorts we have stayed at their knife work and overall show/presentation was far superior then what this resort offered. The prices in the resort are overpriced. I.e Cigars I bought 10 small cigars for $70 US and all the larger cigars were over $25 - $100 a piece, on this fact alone you almost ruined my trip I was so upset with this I was never going to come back to the DR and I would continue to go to Cuba as I do every year. Once I went on Trip Central and found the Don Lucas tour and store this improved my experience as I love Cigars and enjoying them in your climate. We were not told by our Nexus rep when we booked the dune buggy excursion that she would need a bathing suit so we felt that more details should of been provided. Overall the trip was fantastic the resort was fantastic the buffet for breakfast and lunch was amazing and we will return depending on price/value

JOIA Bavaro by Iberostar: Definitely a 4 star but not a 5

We booked this vacation with relatively short notice (~1 month before travelling). We had incredible reviews from friends about this hotel. Unfortunately, it seems that the good service people have left as with rare exception (Carlos and our butler Jose being the exceptions) the service is nowhere to be found anymore. Also stick with the A La Carte restaurants - the buffet is terrible.

Punta Cana Princess: Wonderful Resort

This was a wonderful resort and very relaxing! The food was amazing, buffet and sit-down restaurants were great. The staff was all very friendly and helpful when you needed anything. LA, who does the water sports, was very helpful and not pushy at all. We did find that the guys running the little shop by the pool were a bit pushy but we just ignored them and kept walking and they left us alone. We had one issue with our key card not working and they replaced it right away (saying it was due to it being put beside a cell phone). The WIFI in the lobby worked great to check-in back home with the rest of the family. The entertainment staff were all very fun. The only item that bugged us was that they have a wonderful list of daily events but they typically are not following the list very well. We went over to the disco at the adjoining resort but found it was way too loud and we were hoping for more North American music, so we left pretty quick. Did one ziplining trip and it was amazing!

Punta Cana Princess: Excellent Resort for Adults

The grounds are great, perfect. Wonderful place for adults only. Some nights the vendors going towards your dinner are in our opinion not welcome. We have them on the beach , please not going on your evening adventure. This was our 2nd year, and would highly recommend it for a wonderful r & r vacation. The resort is small, but the location is the best, you cannot have a better view of the ocean, morning sunrise. Food is fabulous, they cater what you like, or your choice of other restaurants is your choice. The buffet is always wonderful. You are only steps away from the best ocean and pool. Rooms are great, everything is there for your needs. No worry about slippers or robe, just waiting for you and even more! We found the little shop next door to it called Happy Time the best place to shop. Prices are very good, and no hassle. We went on 3 excursion's, the private catamaran was the best, cooking the sea food in front of you , then snorkeling, what a wonderful day. Can't wait until the next time. Ola..

Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: Best resort so far

Stayed at the Luxury Esmerelda and loved it!! The beach was beautiful! We went out every morning at 6 a.m. to watch the sunrise and every morning the beach had already been raked up of any debris! We walked along the beach both ways and not one resort was even close to as well maintained as our resort. Although the water was a little rough that week the water was clear and warm! We had waiter service on the beach and a waiter came around with sandwiches and pop as well. We chose a different A'la carte dinner every night which gave us lots of variety and all were delicious although our favorite was defiantly the Don Pablo. Our room was beautiful, large and had a great view. There were lots of extras we didn't use like the butler service, bell boys, scented pillows, and room service but they were available. The maids did a great job and although its not something I require there were little extra touches like flower petals on the bed or in the bathroom each day. The fridge being restocked daily was nice as well. Premium drinks at the bar was a big deal for us as well. I am also not one for the shows at night but here was cirque like show and a Michael Jackson show (which I usually find so tacky) that were both amazing. I think the only thing I would recommend because there are quite a few resorts all in one is for there to be something maybe in the Esmerelda lobby maybe a TV or something that shows what is going on in each resort in the evening!! We had a beach party the first night that was amazing and had we not stumbled upon it we would not have known. This is a small resort with access to several other resorts so you have the best of both worlds. Only Luxury resort patrons can use the Luxury resort facilities so its nice quiet and not to hard to get a seat at the pool or the beach but because you have access to the other resorts lots of shopping restaurants and the disco This was our 3rd time to the DR and this was by far our best vacation!!! I'm not one to return to the same place twice but I think we may with this one

Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: Fantastic resort

This resort is fantastic. Everything was great:ground,room,food and especially the service. Everyone works very hard and they very professional. We had amazing time in Esmeralda. Love this resort!!!! We really recommend this resort. This resort has everything what you need. If you go ther you will live in paradise

Sunscape Coco Punta Cana: Good Resort

I will say, overall, the resort was good. The food was great (almost like home) and the restaurants were okay. Room was nice. View was good. Beach was not the best. Not sure if it was from the storm, but a lot of seaweed. Wish the main pool was open but was closed down. The other pools were okay. The best way to go is VIP. The people trying to sell time shares are brutal. Very pushy. They have vendors in the evening, set up all over, selling jewelry and they are bad. Best advice, walk  [... read more]away! Blau Natura Park Resort: Blau Natura Park Resort - Excellent for nature lovers

My husband and I have traveled very extensively and have stayed at many resorts in and around Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. Blau Resort is one that we will remember as being the best resort for people who want to relax and enjoy their vacation. The resort was very clean. The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to ensure that guests were enjoying their stay. The gr [... read more]ounds were so beautiful with the many walk-ways, bridges, flamingos, peacocks,exotic birds, ducks, fish and turtles that you were able to feed as you strolled about. There was even a mamma cat and her kitten that stole some hearts. The pool at night was breathtaking to watch as the lights in the water changed from blue, green, pink and purple. The grounds were a nature lover's paradise with the tropical gardens, vines, bushes, and palm trees. The beach was excellent with white sand and warm blue-green water that sparkled in the moonlight. We were able to capture a picture of the "huge" moon that happened while we were there peeking up through the palm trees and cascading its light over the pool. We will most definately return to the Blau Resort.

Riu Bambu: Not a resort for family

While the grounds are clean and the rooms are kept clean, the pools, hallways, lobby and entertainment areas are flooded with smoke - too many people smoke around the pools, the lobby, the hallways and the entertainment center. Wherever we walked, we can smell and inhale 2nd-hand smoke. My kids are in their tweens - they didn't like the kids pool because it's very kiddy, they want to be in a big pool. But the big pools specially the main pool with the swim-up bar is so crowded and floode [... read more]d with smokers. There are cigarette butts around the pools, on the tables etc.- not a good sight and experience for my tweens. We ended up going a couple of times to Riu Naiboa where the pool is free from rowdy crowd and free from smoke - Riu Naiboa turned out to be a healthier and more appropriate resort for us. There are 4 fine ding restaurants but all non air-conditioned. This is definitely not a 5-star resort. Overall, I was dissatisfied with our stay at Riu Bambu. I wish the Tripcentral representative, described us the resort in detail - the atmosphere, the ambiance, what's going on in the resort, we would have changed to Riu Naiboa or other resorts.

Grand Sirenis Punta Cana Resort: Awesome trip

Myself and 3 girlfriends just got home on Oct 20/2016.We had a great trip and the resort was beautiful.What I really liked was how close the pools were to the beach,so we could go back and fourth from one to the other.The people were friendly and we had beautiful weather.The water park was amazing.I would recommend this resort to anyone.

Sunscape Coco Punta Cana: Sunwing Rep is deserving of a 5 Star

Whoever you have for a travel rep, make sure you use there services when needed. Our Sunwing Rep. Deyanina (sp) went above and beyond for us. When we told her our concerns she went to the counter with us and made any inquires on our behalf. I have been to many all inclusives and I have never had the service that I have had with Deyanina, she made our stay bearable. 2 hr check in, no welcoming drink, moved to 2 different locations for check in. Asked to move rooms after second day due to room  [... read more]repairs. Nothing wrong with the room. New location across from 1st room was loud due to evening music. We asked for a quiet area when room was booked. 4th day water shut off for 18 hrs. no warning. Front desk told us it would be off for an hour and it was only our block. Turns out it was the whole resort. Pool emptied same day and major repairs begun and was still on going when we left. Again no warning. No extra loungers taken to the beach to accommodate nothing being at the pool. Formal dress not enforced at the al a cartes. The steak and the Fish al a cartes had people walking off of the beach wet and in bathing suits walking right thru them and not one person stopped this. Went for the lobster which is advertised as per person when in fact is per pound. Server climbed on top of the table to retrieve the lobster out of the tank and after weighing it proceeded to chase a bather at crotch level when she was cutting thru the restaurant coming off of the beach. If you want us to dress and not act like animals, then we expect for the staff and other patrons to act the same way. A leak from our ceiling for 4 days I guess doesn't seem to be an issue to the resort. So we just kept a towel down so we wouldn't wipe out. The rooms are very spacious and the staff keep the rooms clean. MOST employees always had a smile and were very helpful when they could. Would I be back NOPE, why because when I ask a question regarding an inconvienance I expect the truth and let me deal with it the best way I can. The tourists around the resort were rude, we saw one young man steal a towel and his mother thought there was nothing wrong with it, people infringe on the area you are sitting in on the beach and think nothing of walking where ever they want even if it might bother someone else. Would I recommend this resort again, Nope, but it's not my vacation you have to decide that for yourself.

Secrets Royal Beach: Wonderful trip

Only a short drive from the airport, we were welcomed warmly by the reception and given a cool towel and drink upon arrival. The rooms were spacious and clean. The king bed was very comfortable. The food is excellent at the buffet and at the a la carte restaurants. The staff are very friendly and the service is exceptional. Drinks were a plenty! Loads of loungers at the beach and the lazy river pool was a great place to cool off and relax. I would definitely return!

Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: Excellent resort

The hotel was very good. Dining room and A la Carte food was good as well, lot of variety and both red and white wines. Wi-fi was available 24 hours. The beach truly beautiful and had good facilities. The hotel staff was very friendly and always helpful. The room was always kept clean.

Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Awesome resort!!

Everything is this resort was very clean. The rooms were cleaned by the maids everyday. The workers at the reception understood english very well and I had no problems talking to them. Checkin and out were very quick. Everyone at this resort was very friendly. You could go off resprt and walk around and no really bothers you. The beach was awesome! Warm water and clean sand the whole time I was there. The food was very good and they had a lot of different foods every day. Love the people in the  [... read more]entertainment group. They were very good at getting people involved!

Punta Cana Princess: Great Resort

We had a great time at this resort. The staff were great, the food was really good. The beach was clean for the first few days but with all the high waves there was a bit of seaweed gathering on the beach. We had no issues with anything at this resort. Would definitely go back again!

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Couples Vacation

We just returned from Bahia Principe Punta Cana where we upgraded to the Golden section. The room was clean and comfortable but the mattress wasn't new thus not the most comfortable. We had a leak in our room during a rainy storm but the staff quickly cleaned it up and checked to make sure it wouldn't happen again. The cleaning staff was thoughtful and restocked our fridge daily with our choice of drinks which we wrote on a notepad for them. They weren't over the top impressive and frankly we preferred the buffet which had plenty of choices. The beach is nice and there's plenty of chairs. With so many pools we always found places to relax. The night shows were great!

Majestic Colonial Punta Cana Beach Resort: Amazing Resort!

Traveled with my husband for 10 days for my birthday! Friends arrived for 7 days. We all had a fantastic time. Food is great, service is fantastic with expect to beach service a little slow. Rooms where beautiful! Stayed on the club side. Will be returning again for sure!

Ocean Blue and Sand: Okay Place

The grounds ,pool,and beach was fantastic.The rotating closing and limited seating of the specialty restaurants. Generally very friendly staff. ONLY ISSUE WAS THE AIRLINE. NEVER WILL I BE LOOKING TO USE AIR TRANSAT AGAIN. If Air Transat is the only airline to offer Ocean Blue and Sand then I guess I'll never be going there again!
