Dreams Jade Resort and Spa: Now Jade experience

The resort was good. I had to change my room as I was facing a swamp and it smelled really bad. They changed my room after few calls but it was a hassle. Overall the food was OK nothing spectacular. The staff truly tried to provide good service. They did not let my 15 year old son to a restaurant becasue he did not have long pants. Overall I had a good time.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Absolutely beautiful resort.

The grounds were very well kept and loved the jungle effect with all the trees. The walk to the beach each day was gratifying. The opportunities for different personalities was unlimited. I would return to this paradise.

Ocean Coral Riviera Cancun: Content de notre séjour

L'hotel a une très belle plage, chamber proper et trés bonne nourriture. Le restaurant italien est WOW, nous avons été trois fois.Ce que j'aime est que les restaurants ont pas besoin de reservation, tu arrives et peut entrer s'il y a de la place, si non, ton nom est sur une liste et on te dit le temps d'attente. Grand Sunset Princess: Pretty good

We travelled as a group of 23 through sunwing vacations Dec 31-Jan 7. We were adults and children of various ages. Youngest child was 3 and oldest was 15. I'll start by saying the grounds of this hotel are pristine. Truly beautiful. It's big! There are 2 sides, sunset and riviera. They are the same hotel and share the amenities. Pretty sure the riviera side would have full sun all day. Our room was located in the middle of the resort near the "party pool". If want a quiet vacation stay closer to the lobby or the beach as it's pretty loud here. Which is what we like! The rooms are ok. Starting to show their age. A little musty but were clean. The bedding is not great at all. This was disappointing. They did have nice big walk in showers. Buffets were excellent. Possibly the best I've ever had. We visited 3 a la carte. Japanese - excellent. Italian - awful. Fondue - ok. A la carte reservations are a pain in the ass to make!! You can only book 3 days ahead and 1 at a time only starting at 2pm. There was always a line. We had to go the lobby everyday and spend 40 mins in line to make one reservations and had to do that 3 times. Not what I what to be doing on vacation. The pools are great. So many to choose from. The beach is nice too. A little rocky but if you go to the right side it's clear. Also if you're with adults only there's a hidden spot down the beach to the left a ways that's always empty and had a bar with no line!! Swimming is not great there but we just walked down when we wanted to swim. We visited the disco a couple nights. It was ok. Never many people in there but the music was good. All the staff are very friendly and eager to help you. We walked around the "family section" of the resort. Not good! The building is rough. However there is a great splash pad/pool there for kids. Highly recommend taking the shuttle to playa del Carmen and taking the ferry to Cozumel. We Rented scooters and toured the island. We did this for fairly cheap. We didn't book this through an excursion. Just went on our own and saved big $$$. All in all a pretty good spot. It's a little big for me. Some reviews mentioned carts to get you around but we never saw any coming around. From the beach to lobby it's about 8-10 minute walk. It was pretty busy. So lots of lines and waiting for drinks but it is the high season.

Excellence Riviera Cancun: EXCELLENT RESORT!

My boyfriend and I just got back from our trip at Excellence Riviera Maya. This resort is truly amazing! All the staff at Excellence Riviera Maya are super friendly, kind and courteous. Our first night we were upgraded to the two-story rooftop terrace suite free of charge for the night as our junior swim-up room was not ready. The rooms and grounds are very well kept. Every morning the staff were cleaning the pools and seaweed from the beach. Our rooms were cleaned twice a day and our mini f [... read more]ridge was stocked daily. The food was AMAZING!! We loved the French restaurant, the Italian Restaurant, and The Grill. The room service food was also very good. The only restaurant we did not enjoy as much was the Mexican restaurant as we felt it was too 'authentic' for our tastebuds. The drinks are also delicious... definitely not chintzy with the alcohol! Since the resort was adult-only it was very laid-back, quiet and relaxing. We never had to worry about finding chairs at the beach. The pool chairs seemed to fill up a bit quicker but we could always find a spot somewhere along the lazy river if need be. We loved every second of our trip and we will definitely return!!

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Definitely a 5 star!

The hotel, grounds, rooms and food were top notch. The staff were friendly and helpful. The staff went out of their way to make guests comfortable. The beach was especially nice, and well groomed, daily. I would go back in a heartbeat.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Beautiful resort

Barcelo Maya Colonial was extremely beautiful. Great service, well kept grounds, so much to do and all around amazing complex. Barcelo Maya had lots to offer and very friendly staff. I highly recommend staying there.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Really good resort

We stayed at this resort in November 2016. Overall my husband and I enjoyed our stay. The resort was clean and well maintained. The restaurants and the food and drinks were amazing! The staff were friendly and very helpful. Some of the things we didn't like was the size of the resort. We stayed in the furthest bungalow from the beach and on foot it was about a 25 minute walk to the beach. The beach was also not the nicest we have seen. This resort also did not have a swim up bar  [... read more]or a true 24 hour snack bar. Other than that we enjoyed our first trip to Mexico!

Grand Sunset Princess: Ok

We are cruisers and decided to try an all inclusive to compare. Grand Sunset Princess being a 5 star was a bit dissapointing to us for the price we paid and we are not sure what makes a 5 star but this didn't cut it for us. The beauty and cleanliness and gardens we could understand but the rest was lacking at least compared to the cruises we have been on. Our check in was pretty disappointing and they didn't check us in at the lobby counter it was in some outdoor area where they photo copied our [... read more] passports, made us wait til all groups were there then called out our names gave us a room key and told us we get what we get and if there were any mistakes we would have to wait til the next day to make changes. No map no schedule of shows or locations of anything and most people got stuck carrying their own luggage all over the huge resort trying to find their rooms. Very disorganized right of the bat did not give us a good feeling to start our week. The buffets were nice looking and the food looked great but unfortunately lacked in flavour and it was hard to find something that actually was worth a "wow yummy." The burgers by the pool were good cause they were actually barbqued and the soft taco stand was decent as well. Booking the specialty restaurants was a pain and they refused to book our group of 23ppl together which was weird considering they could put a big wedding group together. I guess you have to say your a wedding party instead of just a large group. So we always ate broken up until the last day when I gave them a bit of a hard time to sit us together for our last night together. The Miso oriental was decent, the Fondu was pretty tasty, the Japanese was fabulous ( the best meal all week) and the Italian was bland and had the same chicken parm as the buffet. Our friends tried the steak restaurant and said their meals weren't even edible. The pools seemed well kept and lot's of them to choose from but hard to get good sunny chairs as ppl get up at the crack of dawn to reserve them but we always found chairs somewhere. The animals walking around were cool to see. The pool bars had very hard workers and they did a good job, good variety of drinks but the slush drinks barely got us buzzed so if you want to feel effects drink beer or shooters. The beach was absolutly breathtaking and again you had to reserve prime spots early but there were always a chair or two somewhere. There was seaweed areas but the tractors went buy to clear it and workers were even raking and shoveling it away. The entertainment was decent but again we were never clear on times and location and the workers we would ask never seemed to be able to tell us the right info. Our day trip to Tulum and Xel Ha was easy to book and was amazing! Well organized and better food. Our shopping in Playa Del Carmen was also well worth it as everywhere else was a bit of a rip off. Even the hotel market night, thank god we went shopping in town first so we knew the price comparison. The workers worked hard but it was not very often someone would come by the pools to serve you so we would either just wait or go ourselves to the bar. We were generous with tipping but when we would run out of smaller bills we would ask a buffet or bar staff to trade in our $20's or $10's and everytime they would act like it was a hardship then comeback and try to short change us which was really frustrating and ignorant considering we were going to give them some for doing that for us anyhow. But because they took it upon themselves to scam us for change it made us lack trust in them, and trust us, they had tons of change it was clear to see everyone tipping around us that they had plenty of change. Check out day was confusing once again as one person told us to put our bags in one area while someone else told us to put it somewhere else. In the end when it was time to leave we got our luggage so I guess that is all that matters but seriously this hotel needs major organizational and information skills. Overall the weather was great we didn't get sick and it was nice enough but based on this resort experience Carnival cruises are superior in food, entertainment, service, organization and they were cheaper than the price we paid at Grand Sunset. Our last cruise was $500 less and so taking that $500 difference to pay for booze on a ship would be well worth it and the drinks on the ship are better too.

Grand Sirenis Mayan Beach: Good but could be better

Hotel was clean and well maintained. Food was fine, beach was good and the staff was pleasant and hard working. It is an ideal resort for families with children. What could be better? 1. The dress code for the a la cartes should be enforced or scrapped. Proper attire rules were ignored by many guests and management looked the other way 2. Almost all the guests there were English speaking yet only 2 or 3 channels were in English. Several more English channels are needed 3. The walking trails  [... read more](jungle path, ocean path etc) were very poorly marked. Better signposts are needed 4 Guests should be provided with at least 1 or 2 water bottles so that they can take them to the beach rather than having to order water from the "waitresses" on the beach 5 The a la carte restaurants should be able to provide guests with a cup of coffee at the end of the meal. Guests should not be forced to leave the restaurant to go to the snack bar to get their coffee

Ocean Coral Riviera Cancun: great resort would go again

All the accommodation where No 1, we particular appreciated not having to reserve restaurants and that we could do a la carte dinning every night. we especially loved the Italien restaurant where we dined 3 times. Even the show that are normally of poor quality were great for a change. The only negative is the fact that you need to take a taxi to Cancun or Playa del Carmen if you want to do any shopping or Bar hopping and at $40 us for two cabs( they wont take 5 passengers)

Grand Palladium Kantenah: Great resort

Room was nice and clean. Staff was great. Beautiful resort, lots to do for every age. Restaurant were good, lots of variety. Only complaint is the all the ala carte restaurants did not take reservations, we were 12 people, the waits varied between 1 1/2 - 2 hours. The resort is big but they offer rides to anywhere you want to go. We had a great time. Would definitely go again.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Great food and friendly people!

The food was great and the people were very friendly. We went during the Christmas holidays and we were spoiled with magnificent feasts, great parties and great shows. The beach and the pool were great as well.

Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya: fantastic resort

This hotel was amazing. It has plenty of fun activities for both adults and kids. The food is superb with endless options. The staff was very friendly and the hotel was very clean. Would definitely recommend this resort!

Barcelo Maya Colonial: A great resort

Loved the grand beach here...long and not overly-crowded, always a lounge chair available. Bar and food places convenient to both the beach and the pool. The accommodations were very nice, clean and well-kept. All staff were friendly and helpful. A la carte meals were good, but not great. 15 minutes delay getting in each time, very difficult to get times before 8:00 or 8:30 p.m. Biggest complaint: the house wines - both red and white - were almost undrinkable! They must acquire an inexp [... read more]ensive but decent alternative. You could purchase other wines at the a la carte dining locations, but many were really expensive. The buffet meals were very good - lots of variety of meat and fish, as well as pasta dishes, etc. Evening entertainment was very well done: 2 theatres - each capable of holding about 500 people; great sound and lighting system, excellent singers, dancers, costumes, etc.

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Sandos Caracol has no beach

Second visit to Sandos Caracol Eco Resort in Mexico. We were there in 2011 and the beach was great, now it is eroded into the ocean. The area is rocky and covered in coral and sea urchins. We walked ten minutes left or right to find some sandy locations at other resorts. The hotel tries to sell you timeshares all the time. The main pool is only 3 and half feet deep which our kids loved. The pool bars were open by 10:00 am and closed at 6:00 pm and served all kinds of mixed drinks and blend [... read more]ed drinks and two beers on tap. \Loved that they recycled their cups and didn't give out straws. The room was a bit outdated and I did not like the layout. We had a king sized bed and a pull out couch for our two children. The room had a large jacuzzi tub in the middle but no privacy if you are in the tub or coming out of the shower. The room had a mini fridge with beer and pop and free to use room safe. Cleaning service was usually done by lunch time each day. We liked the food and the variety of restaurants. Only one, the Japanese, required reservations and we could only go once that week. The Brazillian and Mediterranean were excellent, but a bit of a wait as it is first come first serve,(unless you were an Elite member, they can make reservations apparently, grrrr.) We took a taxi($15 US for four people) and visited the other Sandos resort for a day at Playacar which was newer and actually had a nice sandy beach and beach volleyball. Hope this helps

Grand Palladium Kantenah: Beautiful Resort

We were very excited to arrive at the Grand Palladium Kantenah. It was a very special family trip as we had not seen our two sons in a year due to being relocated to a different province due to work. We were not greeted in the Lobby by staff, so we went directly to the desk to sign in. We were disheartened to learn that our request to our agent to have our family all in the same building was not registered? After much discussion the best we could get was to be a 10 minute walk away from our adu [... read more]lt children,s room. The room was nice but we did not receive the fruit basket that was advertised awaiting in our room. Our sons arrived a few hours after us as they were flying from Ottawa. They were given different bracelets then us and we assumed it was because they flew Air Canada and we flew Sunwing.However, we quickly learned that they did not have the same benefits as us ie. free towels, equipment rental etc. This did not make sense as the trip for all four of us was booked throught Sunwing with the same specifications. Our boys were not allowed scuba gear so my hubby went and was told he needed to show his drivers license and they could only provide masks. On a positive the Resort is beautiful, very clean, a huge selection of restaurants. Jungle like grounds with much wildlife, guests can visit the adjoining resorts Via bus or walking. There is nightly entertainment, excellent, friendly staff, amazing shoreline across a scenic beach, many walking trails and a selection of pools, bars and a spa. We were sad to leave the resort but also adjitated as our sons flight was delayed and Air Canada reps a the hotel were unable to inform us or assist us. We ended up having to make our own alternate flight rerouting arrangments to get him home. Sunwing was also confused. No one at the hotel knew where we would be picked up resulting in us making numerous trips with our suitcases between hotel Lobbies We arrived in Edmonton and proceeded to picked up our car in the parking garage. We were given a 100 dollar prepaid Card from our travel rep from Tripcentral to use towards our parking. But when we presented it to the parking Attendant we were told he could not take the card and that we were the third person who presented the Tripcentral card.I feel that Tripcentral should honor there promotional voucher and reimburse the persons who received these cards.

Riu Tequila: Good Mexican style resort

Hotel rooms does't have much view and little old.The room was clean. Food was good but the buffet in total was better than three existing restaurants. Beach is ten minutes walk but we could use pools,bars and the lunch buffet of RIU Yucatan which it was good and full of activities. we stayed 14 days and enjoyed every moment.

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Lovely family resort

We spent 5 days at the Grand Bahia Principe Coba over New Years. It is a very nice large resort with many amenities including a large splash pad for kids and a big theatre for shows and celebrations. Beach access is easy with the many little trollies that transport vacationers around the resort but was a bit of a hike if you just wanted to walk there. Rooms were large and clean and had balconies. The pools were lovely and the main buffet was readily accessible and not too crowded. Food was avera [... read more]ge- at times it did not seem to be kept hot enough but there was a wide variety of things to choose from. Staff were friendly and helpful. This resort is a long way from the Cancun airport (1 hr and 20 min drive). Check out took a long time on the day of departure due to insufficient staff so check out earlier if possible. We were almost late for our airport shuttle despite giving ourselves an hour leeway.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Amazing Resort

We had an amazing time at Bahia coba this Christmas with our two kids. The staff were outstanding, the food was great and grounds impeccable. Our kids enjoyed the water park and kids club and loved taking the golf carts throughout the resort. Needless to say they didn't want to leave. The only down side to our trip was the skin infection our daughters contracted.
