Starfish Cuatro Palmas: loved it

I was very impressed with the dining room, the wide array of food available and the well trained staff. The pool was lovely, always clean. The beach, the beach bar and the beach restaurant were excellent. I thought the lobby and inside bar were impressive, with the mahogany framed windows, open to the sea breezes. The employees were very thoughtful and kind. I loved it all, the location was great, near to clubs and restaurants for evenings when a change was nice.

Memories Jibacoa: Lovely, friendly place

I have no complaints about anything... Everyone was very friendly and accommodating. The room was very clean, the pool large and about 40C temperature like the environment. It rained only in the evening two days.

the dining room and the food assortment were amazing, the staff were kind, considerate and just lovely people. the pool was always clean, the beach was beautiful, the grounds were nicely landscaped, well kept, with a staff of gardeners constantly tending to it. the lobby and bar area were beautiful reminding me of Bermuda, with mahogany framed windows open to the sea breezes. Memories Jibacoa: One of my Favorite Places!

This is a great value resort. The employees are all fantastic, funny and competent. The rooms are very nice, the grounds are lovely and the beach and coral reef are great. The daily entertainment is top notch. It is fairly quiet and a great place to relax. I have met some really interesting people from all over the world. I just got back from my fourth time staying there. It is also centrally located. Havana is about an hour ride by taxi, Santa Cruz de Norte is only about 10-15 minutes away. Hotel Villa Cuba: Great time!

The hotel was great. The rooms could use some work but you don't go on vacation to stay inside. Drinks up in the sky bar are fantastic. The pool and pool bar are great. The band on Saturday nights is phenomenal. And the a la carte restaurants were terrific.

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Fun!

Rooms are nice, beautiful beach, large pool and lots of friendly staff. Would recommend this resort to families! Variety of food and very flavourful! Overall very clean and fun resort!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Playa Vista Azul: Awesome resort!

We travelled to Cuba July 1-8, 2016. This is our second time there. We were pleasantly surprised with this resort. It's not large, everything is very close, lobby, pool, restaurants, etc. Clean & modern rooms. The beach area is small; however the ocean is incredible Our bar fridge was stocked every day. Memories Jibacoa: Will go back - Thanks Jenn Black!

I wanted to go to Cayo Largo but somehow the room disappeared when i was told there were at least 16 rooms left - and I was SO bummed!!! I called back and spoke with Jenn. told her what i wanted very specifically. she listened and recommended Memories Jibacoa. This was my first time in Cuba, and an all inclusive. I'm a traveler and don't usually do touristy trips. So I was looking for a quite, remote resort. Memories Jibacoa was it. i couldn't believe that i enjoyed myself so much. Thanks Jenn.  [... read more] I also wanted an ocean view room without any obstructions. They rearranged me to the 11 th block right away and it was perfect. Phew. If you have an ocean view ask for a room with the least trees obstructing the view. The hotel staff are awesome. The hotel was super quiet whips was perfect for me. I was there for a week and started getting to know people and even though I wanted to be pretty much left alone, I made some awesome people and made some friends. The nightlife was pretty good with several shows each night but someone suggested that I go to the piano bar which was a blast. I'm not a piano bar kind of person but everyone was singing along to classic rock songs and it was actually a blast. The a la cartel food was really great. The food was ok at the buffet. I'm a foodie. The Internet was also spotty. For someone who's always wired, this was the longest I went without. Maybe a good thing...but despite these only downsides. it didnt matter, just too many upsides to this place. The rooms were clean and somewhat 4 starish. I prefer true 4-5 star but again it was clean well kept, plenty of towels, sheets changed whenever I asked - so all good. I loved Cuba, surprised me. I'm going back to the country and don't want to risk any other hotels - will be back at this hotel.

Muthu Playa Varadero: By Cuban Standard, this is a two star hotel with four star food and beach

We book this resort because we are vacationing in GTA area and this is one of the few options that could be working with our return flight schedules. We had a good vacation in Cuba, thanks to the awesome weather, amazing beach, and nice buffet. However, this hotel is still the worst hotel stay I had in years. I know you get what you paid for. This hotel does not deserve the four-star standard and fee scale due to its run down facility and terrible services. Here is a breakdown of my review on v [... read more]arious aspect, and I hope it helps you to make decisions. Beach: The hotel is near the centre of the Varadero islands, nice long wide beach and close walk to nearby snorkelling (15 min walk to big sea rocks). The sand is fine grain, but it has broken shell mixed in, and is not as comfortable to walk comparing to cayo coco and cayo santa maria. The shade on the beach is limited even for a low season. Food: we like their buffet. Even though it has limited variety, but the food is actually of good taste. Different kinds of BBQ pork, beef, fish, chicken and shrimps, plus fruits and veggies keeps us happy. There is always something for someone's stomach. Beer and cold drinks are decent. We like the cuban made ice cream in buffet. A la carte restaurants are not as good as the buffet, which is very odd to my experiences. Pool: They have two small pools, one deeper, and one for young children. Pools are clean enough. There are plastic cups floating around and sand in the pool. Staff do not clean on daily basis. Rooms; The worst I stayed. Bed was okey to sleep in, but is nowhere near a hotel standard. Funitures were old. Bathroom is good enouth with adequate water pressure. AC was functioning, and helped us to escape the heat sometimes, but it could not be adjusted, so we must get used to it if it is too cool or not cool enough. I kill a gaint American roach and has to use bug repellent to seal entrance on tiles that lead to the ants nest, luckly they did not come back during our stay. No bed bug, which is such a relief give to this run down hotel room. There are four days, which we could not open our own room, we had to wait for a technician to show up and fix it repetitively. Room wise, it is no better than a two star hotel. Service: Staff was not in good mood unless you tip them. The Majority of staffs speaks very poor english, and are hard to communicate. Unbelievable for someone making a living in famous Varadero. There was no room service in three consecutive days. We were only given three 1.5L bottled water for the entire week. Forget about having beers and pops stocked into your mini-bar fridges; it would not happen in this hotel. The staff did bear minimum and sometimes inadequate for their job unless being tipped. They, if of adequate level of english, were more interested in selling you cigars and rums. We got good deals from them, and along with that, star guest service. Basically, the staff is under trained, unprofessional and unmotivated to provide on-par service for this level of resort. Kids Club: The kids club lady speaks very good English and French, and is very well educated, she is rarely seen in this small resort. The verdict: Should you go with this resort? If you do not pay for more than 70% of the high season rate, and you are ok with poor room and poor service, then this hotel might be ok. I know a lot of people just want sun, beach, cheap cigar and rum that come with a bed and no more. For them, this is their ideal two star get away with four star buffet. Just make sure you get a cheap price tag. For many others, go get a true four star or better for the dollar you spend.

Melia Marina Varadero: Unbelievable

Everything was what I imagined staff was amazing the people were very friendly it was exactly what I needed after 4months of working. In a factory and frankly anyone needs a getaway I would say this is the place to be . Thankyou to all the staff and organizers

Melia Las Antillas: Beautiful Resort...beautiful people

The hotel is open and breezy with wonderful gardens. The pond houses fish and sand sharks who come to the surface to say hi (more likely for food). The food was good...lots of variety for us. The fresh fish station was amazing and we used it daily. The rooms were very clean and well stocked. If you needed anything, you just had to ask. We had a number of early excursions for which the hotel provided us with a breakfast basket. 😊 The best part of Amelia Las Antilles are the staff. War [... read more]m and wonderful. We met so many people who treated us with respect and consideration. I like to think that we returned the respect to them. Hotel Los Cactus: Beautiful Resort and Amazing Value!

My fiancee and I loved this resort as it had everything we needed. Nice, large cold room with a view of the grounds, buffet that offered different choices every meal, beautiful grounds and great service. The main attraction is the beach and ocean and we spent almost every waking minute there. It is breathtaking. The beach is well taken care of and there are many lounges and covered beds to choose from. The water is spectacular. The pool is ok, I only jumped in it once quickly because who needs a [... read more] pool with an ocean like that. We don't drink alcohol but there were plenty of non alcoholic drinks and the coffee is amazing. The bread, fruit, fish and seafood is incredible. Just don't things that aren't native to cuba (like beef) as it has to be imported and sits on a boat for a long time. Other than that the food is great. No problem with service, if you are nice and friendly and not obnoxious than the staff will be too! The cubans are wonderful people. I like this resort because it was pretty quiet, not a lot of partying, just people relaxing and enjoying their vacation. Iberostar Selection Varadero: Very Good Resort

Iberostar Varadero is a very good resort. I have decided to stay only in Iberostar group of resorts whenever I go to a destination serviced by this resort. Everything from the rooms, food, bar and the employees was excellent. I give a 5 start review. Raj

Mar Del Sur: Best ever

This is a place I love the resort is comfortable the food is good and the employees were great I will go again I really loved the service I felt at home every day i was treated well. It was right were I wanted to be in downtown area everything I wanted to do was near by

Roc Arenas Doradas: Good service

The beach is awesome!!! Recreation is very good,the food is acceptable although the availability of the restaurants was awful.Public areas are good and well maintained. Service at the bar in the pool is excellent.

Melia Marina Varadero: Fantastic resort, surpassed expectations!

Our first time to a "hotel style" resort and we were very pleased with our choice. Staff works hard to keep the grounds clean, hotel common areas are well maintained, our room was very nice and the housekeeping staff did a fantastic job on keeping it clean and delivering special requests in a very prompt delay. The 3 restaurants "a la carte" were great, staff are very polite and professional, food was delicious. We enjoyed the French restaurant the most out of the 3. The main buffet area was nic [... read more]e, busy at times but a lot of staff to support everyone, a lot of different food selections, we ate very well during the week and were surprised we had the chance to eat tacos one night! The pool area was very nice, room for everyone. The beach, what else to say but AMAZING. Crystal clear water and white sand! Beach bar is close by and the restaurant was very nice too, good food! The quick 5 minute walk is worth it or the valet shuttle is readily available to bring you to the beach. The marina side of the hotel is very nice as well. Seeing the catamarans and fishing boats leave and return everyday, variety of dance shows and bands every night to entertain the vacationers. We would return to this hotel for sure. Great vacation!

Muthu Playa Varadero: Get what you pay for.

The phrase "you get what you pay for" couldn't be more true when you go to Cuba. We took a last minute vacation to Cuba with our stay at Playa D'Oro: Room: We were placed in a ground floor room. Upon entering the room there was a strong mildew odor. Being in the tropics it was expected, but the first night I couldn't sleep due to the odor, the pillows smelled like cat urine. So needless to say I didn't sleep well, we tried to spend another night in this room but couldn't stand the smel [... read more]l. The next morning I requested to move rooms. The front desk moved us to a 4th floor room which was much better. We also seen LARGE cockroaches on the ground floor due to the high moisture content. The bathrooms have been recently updated but watch out the shower curb isn't sufficient as the water exited the shower and flooded the entire bathroom floor as a result. Some maintenance is required as the curtains rods were pulled out from the ceiling and just hanging there at some point. Food: Well once again....its Cuba! I lived off fries, pizza and pasta. I have never seen weiners done in so many ways! The beef was barely eatable, my husband go sick from eating the shrimp...I warned him not to eat it! So the last half of his vacation was trying to deal with severe stomach cramps and diarrea. The wait staff was great! We enjoyed the cafe bar each morning. We ate at the "Italian" restraunt one night. The food was good (pasta and pizza lol). BUT when the guests were leaving the waiter insisted on a tip! He actually followed a young couple and almost demanded a tip. We watched him do this to 2 separate sets of guests so we were prepared. Prepared to tell him immediatley that we did not have any money on us! AFTER ALL ITS ALL INCLUSIVE! Pool: The pool is also in need of repair with lots of missing tiles and debris on the bottom. We were VERY disappointed that the swim up bar wasn't in service. Chairs were always available around the pool. I suggest bringing a insulated cooler cup as it is so hot that by the time you get to your chair the ice is melted and your slush drink isnt slush any longer. Entertainment: The entertainment was good! They had something to watch from in the lobby and then outside. Beach: The beach was FABULOUS 11/10. Clear water no seaweed and the sand awesome. So if what you are going for is beach you wont be disappointed. So my advice is...pay more for your trip and stay at a 5 star hotel. The beach is the same at any hotel in Veradero. All in all it was 7/10 and what gives it a 7 is the beach or else it would be 5/10.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Not a 5 star

The resort looked beautiful from the outside but once inside you could see it was falling apart. The people that work at the resort are friendly and helpful. The food was just ok. There was only 3 choices for al a carte restaurants and it is hard to get into because they have limited seating. The buffet staff were amazing but the food I find was recycled. No air conditioning in the buffet restaurant so it gets quite hot in there. The rooms were ok. The maid was attentive to my families need [... read more]s. The towels and sheets are laundered out of the resort so some days they didn't have towels to exchange. The entertainment was average. These are the people who are there to get you involved in the activities and poolside music was the same songs on replay. Throughout the resort you can see signs of disrepair. For resort that's fairly young, it shows much older. I have been to other resorts in Cuba with fewer stars and they faired better. In regards to this resort I don't think I will be returning. Cuba is a beautiful country and the people are hard working and friendly. It's a shame that they don't maintain their resorts a little better.

Playa Vista Azul: Great resort!!

The resort ,the food the facilities were great !! My boy had a nice time and we too!! The only bad time was too short the time. The hotel is 9 months opened is newest in the peninsula ,we will back soon.
