Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Nice Resort

This was our 4th stay at the resort in the Ambar Adult only section (it had been 4 years since our previous stay) and although I can't complain about much, the age is starting to show! Lights in our bathroom fell down, the patio door hardly opened and closed. They were quick to fix when asked but I think it will be our last stay at this resort! Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: beautiful resort

the hotel is great and amazing, their some staff member are really helpful while someothers are not quite well, we had a big problem about housekeeping, we had alot of insects in our room, the room service was zero, the room never get clean properly during our absence. we made several complains but never took any action, our mini bar was never fill up since day one, the air conditioner of the room was not working at all, the rest lobby, pool, beach, waiters and waitress was amazing and great. on [... read more]ly the houskeeping service was not good at all. we had to spend our whole week in a room with full of insects, we request for change room and they never made it happen.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Jeans stolen from room

This hotel was okay. What turned me off was my wife's jeans were stolen from our room. Never again! The food was okay. Rooms were semi clean. We had to call in for the maids to clean our room a couple times

Riu Republica: Wonderful resort!

Great staff, beautiful grounds and so many options! We spent a week there without leaving the hotel once and had a blast. The restaurants were much better than your typical resort with great food and friendly service. I've never gone to the same resort twice but might just have to come back some day!

Riu Republica: Riu Republica

This resort just opened in June, however, it already is starting to look worn. There is cracking and peeling pain, the tiles appear dirty - especially the grout. It is touted as a 5 star but, realistically, it is only a 4 star. The food is good but not spectacular. There is a nice variety of fish in the buffet but nothing really jumped out at us. The bread wasn't great as it was quite hard - usually if all else fails, the bread is usually quite good. The floors in the dining room were very [... read more] slippery, they should have had someone dry mopping the floors as we saw several guest slipping on the tiles. The Japanese was our favourite. The rooms were nice, however there were no chairs in the room. There was a perfect spot for a small table and a couple of chairs. When asked for an additional one or two chairs for the room but we were refused. The housekeeping was somewhat absent. We had the rooms cleaned twice in the week we were there. One day they arrived at 07:50 to clean the room - we hadn't even showered yet so we asked them to return later - they never did. Another day they arrived after 5:00 pm when we were getting ready for dinner - again we turned them away. They really need to work this out. The front desk staff were quite friendly - no complaints there, however, we had booked a courtyard view room but were assigned a room at the very back of the hotel - the farthest away from anything - beach, restaurants etc. When I inquired about obtaining the correct room we were advised, as expected, that they were full and to come back the next day. I suggested they have guests leaving each day so there should definitely be a room available. By the end of the day, the Sunwing rep was able to obtain a lovely courtyard view room for us. I'm sure they count on most guests just accepting what they are given because it is such a PIA to move rooms. The pools we used were fine. The one with the swim up bar was a bit murky - but still packed. The salt water pool we were in was too warm to be considered refreshing but it was clean. The beach was nice but because of the man-made sand dune, it was not visible from the resort. It was definitely not handicap accessible. Because of the hurricane passing through, the waves were incredible - possibly even dangerous at times. We had a blast in the ocean. The sandy beach, as always in Punta Cana, was great. If you walk to the left, the beach is much flatter for walking and you can walk for ages. All in all, the resort was nice but not a 5 star as advertised.

Riu Republica: Lovely Resort

We recently returned from a week at Riu Republica in Punta Cana. The hotel is huge, with lots of shady seating near the gorgeous pools. The trip to the beach is a bit of a hike over a sand dune, and there are no washrooms on or near the beach. There are very few washrooms period, which was a bit of an issue, as I was travelling with my mentally disabled brother. The elevators are also few and far between, and in out of the way areas. The lobby area and bar are gorgeous, with tons of couches and chairs to relax in or meet with friends. The sports bar is 24 HR, and is usually hopping. Had a great week, and would recommend the hotel. My only complaints are too few bathrooms in public areas, and too small elevators in out of the way places.

Riu Republica: Fantastic vacation

we had a fantastic vacation, resort was beautiful, staff was fantastic, great food selections. Always something to do while we were there. daily entertainment at the pool was a lot of fun. Beach was beautiful

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Big resort

Beautiful hotel. Very large even though we spent 99% of our time in the Ambar section. Food selection was great! Staff were always tending to our needs and were very friendly. Beach was stunning,water was crystal clear, woke up early and always found lounge chairs and hut right by the water. Lots of older people, 50+ on the Ambar side. I've been to another adults only and have found it to be quieter than the other if you're still looking to have a fun time.

Riu Republica: Nice resort

Very modern, clean resort. Enjoyed the daily entertainment. Food was good but not great. The hotel staff was very accommodating and provided good service. Enjoyed the pool and bars. Sammy was great for booking day excursions.

Riu Republica: Riu Republica

Not a 5 star resort but a great place to enjoy! Beautiful beach, decent food and accommodations. Only a few small complaints. No room service and you had to pay $3.00 US for a game of pool in the sports bar. Overall, we had a great time!

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Beautiful Resort

We had a lovely vacation at the Luxury Bahia Principe Ambar. Staff were very friendly, attentive, always had a smile for you. Anything you needed, they were there. Property well kept, decor classy, very welcoming and comfortable. Rooms lovely. Thank you to all Bahia Principe Ambar staff for making our stay a memorable one. A pleasure to be your guest! Royalton CHIC Punta Cana: Highs and lows

Overall I would give the resort a four star. Beach was good but my preference is Bavaro Beach. (Just prefer the whiter sand). The day and night entertainment was very very good. Francisco & company were very funny guys ( Sorry I forgot a name there, but he looks like Marcus Stroman who pitches for the Blue Jays) Rooms were excellent. Food was a mix of very good and very bad ( The Moroccan Restaurant). ALCOHOL.....For those of you who are wine drinkers you WILL BE very disappointed. The only wa [... read more]y to get a decent Glass of wine is to buy a bottle. We have been to many many resorts and don't always get the best wine but this doesn't even qualify to be wine. I am also very confident in saying that the alcohol was cheap brands, and the recognizable ones were watered down. The premium brands that they mention in their advertising can only be obtained by purchasing separately or in an upgrade package. As far as the staff goes, they were very good overall. Special mention for Carlo, Eduaro (looks like Edwin Encarnacion/Blue Jays) and Raphael in the buffet area and who also work in the specialty restaurants. They work long hard days and always manage to keep smiling and are always checking on us to see if everything is OK. Also Basillio who works the pool bar and lobby bar. And a very special mention to Yordelena who served us drinks in several of the areas. And also to Rosanna who waitresses the pool area in the daytime.

Hyatt Vivid Punta Cana: Good vacation not excellent

We arrived on Wednesday afternoon, and this is our 4th trip to DR and 3rd to a Dreams chain. The grounds are very clean, front desk staff not exceptional. The resort layout was a bit odd with kids club quite a walk from lobby and main theatre / casino outside as well. A couple days into the trip, my parents made arrangements to visit from dreams PC and were made to wait over 30min at security gate before allowed in. (The drive from PC to Palm Beach is only 30min.) I complained to concierge a [... read more]s they were sitting there, and he told me he needed confirmation. I said get your confirmation while they sit in the lobby not in a cab in 38c heat. ( Really, what are they going to do, run and jump in the pool and get to stay for free for the day? A bit ridiculous) When my folks were allowed in to the resort, the staff had an issue with the "Dreams Dollars" issued by Dreams Punta Cana to my parents to cover the day pass cost. They asked for paperwork to verify the Dreams Bucks? Thankfully it was taken care of rather quickly by a management team member. The food was great at all the a la cartes. The pasta station and omelette station were the best part of the buffet. Abby at kids club is AMAZING, and kept the kids busy for a couple hours a day. The sunquest rep Cristian, booked us a pirate adventure and we asked for a golf outing that he said he would take care of. He never called us back about the golf so we figured it out ourselves and the pirate/shark adventure was cancelled once due to weather. On the rescheduled day we waited most of the morning and finally had concierge call him. He said it was cancelled again due to weather but what was frustrating was we wasted the entire morning packed up, sitting in the lobby waiting for the bus to show. Off the resort is very safe and a short walk to get souvenirs. Overall, it's time for something new for us, but clean, descent pools and good food.

Majestic Colonial Punta Cana Beach Resort: Nice resort

Had a short vacation at this hotel for 3 days, enjoyed and had a lot of fun, like to play volleyball in the pool and watch the show. Only thing I regret is hard to find a coconut fruit, ask a bartender and he said it is $20 each, too expensive for a country of coconut.

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: 5th Time and still amazing!

This was our 5th time going to the same resort; reason is that the grounds are great; room very good; staff very pleasant; beach (28km) of potential walking; pure white sand and absolutely in front of the hotel. The beach front for this hotel is one of the nicest on the coast. Although renovations were underway we had issues with noise.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Great Resort !

The adults only resort was the way to go! We stayed and relaxed on the beach everyday we never had a problem finding chairs and the service was excellent ! We tried the pool once but it was like bath water If not hotter and murky.The beaches were constantly being kept tidy of seaweed. We took a walk down the beach and you could tell when you were off the Bahia Principle as a wall of seaweed was along every other resort. The fridge in the room was stocked every day and there was even a turn down service at night with chocolates left on the pillows. Rooms were clean and very comfortable! We never went hungry either the beach restaurant was amazing ate there every day for lunch. We tried the Italian and Brazilian al la cart restaurants these were also great. Each night at the buffet there was a new theme as well therefore wasn't the same food every day. I would definitely go back! We had an amazing time. The one thing I do recommend is be prepared to barter, they start their prices extremely high and have to be prepared to just walk away.

Secrets Royal Beach: Wonder resort !

I thought everything about it was well done, staff were wonderful, lovely rooms, great layout, food was great, wish I had had more time there to try all the restaurants ! Everybody was very friendly, and the restaurants weren't overly crowded either.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: AMAZING VACATION RESORT*****

We vacationed at the Luxury Bahia Principe Ambar Don Pablo. What an amazing vacation resort. One of the most beautifully well kept grounds, very clean resort I have visited. It did not matter what time of day it was, every area of the resort was continuously kept clean from the lobby to the restaurants, from the beach bar area to the bathrooms. Absolutely all areas of the resort including the adjoining resorts we were able to shuttle to were always being attended to. The beach area always had  [... read more]someone cleaning all areas. If you needed a chair there was always a worker there to get you a beach chair. The people working at this resort gave the most amazing customer service. They did not miss a beat. Your beverage was always full and they bent over backwards to make you happy. We travelled with a group of 10 and the a la carte restaurants catered to our every wish. I cannot say enough about the beautiful people that work at this resort. If you needed a shuttle they were available right away. The only suggestion I may have is that being such a big resort if they could perhaps just call out the stop as it can be confusing where to get off especially at night. The nightly shows were very entertaining and a lot of fun to see. Again the service at theses shows was amazing. There was always someone to get you a drink. We visited the Casino and again this was a lot of fun. Part of our group visited the disco and had a great time there. If you are truly looking for an amazing vacation whether it be a quiet romantic or for a group looking to have lots of entertainment, this is definitely the place to be. I am hoping to visit again in the New Year.

Hyatt Vivid Punta Cana: Wonderful Staff and resort

The staff, such as Robin Hood at the Coco Cafe, Emilio our never enough server, Georgie,(Sammy Soussa) always checking on us at the buffet. The always polite and ever accommodating staff ,for everything, you name it they acquired it! The rooms were lovely and spacious, my daughter emailed the hotel and a awesome chocolate dessert appeared one evening during our stay...amazing! Numerous pools, great beach, never ending drinks most attentive service!
