Grand Sirenis Punta Cana Resort: Don't waste your money

First of all we got to the resort.. took a while to get checked in as they had me booked wrong! They had us booked under my middle name. When we finally got everything sorted out we were only given 1 room key. After we searched for our room no map or assistance to find it in the dark! Finally found it just to get stuck in the elevator:( Definitely not off to a great start. Finally got in our room as it was a total travel day.. we wanted to freshen up we had no face cloths just 2 bath [... read more] towels 1 bath mat. Room smelt musty and visibly run down. Things off the walls things not working we had bare wires exposed. As well as mold. Went for dinner main buffet.. it looked okay... first piece of chicken we had was raw in the middle. Advised them of this all they said was okay. We had a early night that night. Woke up with bites. Saturday we met with jerry our air Canada rep- booked some excursions. Went to the pool had some drinks all booze was watered down.. asked for name brand was told no that was for the high rollers and VIP!!! (I guess their is a pink bracelet that intitles you to get name brand - never found this out until after we returned to Canada!!) did the shows and then bed was not impressed woke up with hives our room was infested with fleas and possible bed bugs. Sunday was my birthday! They gave me a bottle of sparkling.. we had a great day did the buggy tour and came back and did our first elecarts Italian- was good. But they were running out of items. Another sleepless night! And more bites advised Jose of our issues and concerns.. he made a few calls and tried to get us another room none were available. They came and changed our sheets Monday- we did a catamaran tour very good. We had to meet at 710 and early breakfast all the tables were dirty and was given a headache for sitting in the spot that was clean in the restaurant and we sat in the dark and all the food had been sitting the hot was cold and the cold food was warm at all times no air flow in here either 6:30 am and sweating Came back and did the 40's dinner good but not overly impressed with finger foods a waste of a al ecart . Tuesday- did a scuba diving with padi (Jennifer) she's very good!! Body full of bites! Didn't even want to wear shorts let alone a bathing suit! Asked for a change of room front desk told no!! They said we would have to wait until morning and come see the front desk. By this point we slept in lawn chairs at the pool! Our room was not an option!! Wednesday we Took a bunch of pictures! Showed our concierge Josè in the am he made a call and said he would get back us found us at the pool and advised us that the room would be cleaned top to bottom.. We had Mexican restaurant booked.. 8:30pm was awful the food wasn't edible. We went to the shows. And checked out the market people that were in the resort so pushy and aggressive! No way around them unless you took the service roads. Even tho our room was cleaned the sheets were not... and again had more issues this was totally ruined our vacation!eatting at the buffet at 41+ sweating with hives not enjoyable!! We ate at the buffet most mornings and lunch very disappointed with amount of people budding and eatting off the buffet. The hotel was out and about smoking the grounds so I am confident they were aware they had issues with sand fleas. People I spoke with who stayed on the Tropicana side were having the same issues however their rooms were in better condition. All the bars if you didn't have money in your hand you definitely didn't get services! Tricked into 90min session that was 3.5 hours!!! Only plus was alcohol that wasn't watered down!!! Waterpark- kids area looked good.. watersides didn't have enough water so there was a dry stop disappointed in this. Thursday night they came and changed our bedding again refusing to changing our room thank goodness we're going home Friday is all we could think the last 3 days!!! This is the worst place ive ever been to! And we are seasoned travelers!! I wish my travel agent advised us against this hotel it was a total waste of time and money!

Blau Natura Park Resort: 2nd time around

This is the 2nd time I have been to this resort. Still as amazing as ever. Staff are fantastic, beach is beautiful and food is very tasty!! I would return for a 3rd time as had a wonderful vacation. The staff arrange for great entertainment and fun times for all. This resort rates 4 stars+. I'll be back soon.................... Sheila

Hyatt Vivid Punta Cana: AWSOME week

My husband and I along with my brother in law and sister in law stayed here the week of September 25 to October 2/2016. The resort is only 20 mins away. We stayed in the Preffered section building 2 which was great. We had our own private check in, own adults only pool section which was very relaxing. The water was warm, we had endless drinks and a small buffet of food to enjoy while you were there. The room was nice, clean and the shower was the biggest I've ever seen! Ask for the mini bar upgr [... read more]ade. You get 2 mini bottles of rum and vodka, a snickers chocolate bar, M&M and Pringles chips every night. We took them on the plane with us to snack on. The private beach was nice too. The resort was not full so you felt like you had the beach all to yourself. There was quite a bit of seaweed that week but the guys were cleaning it up constantly and our resort beach was the cleanest if you were walking. The water was warm for swimming. The only issue we had were the vendors walking by and calling out to you to lookie lookie and it got annoying! We love the beach because of the nice constant breeze but after a while we move to the big pool where there is great music and it's more lively. The grounds are beautifully kept. The pools were clean. There is a coffee shop we enjoyed with yummy treats and great cappuccinos, lattes and iced drinks. All the ala cart restaurants were good and the buffet was excellent. I have to say all the people there are really friendly, always trying to please you. George and Emillio....we miss you already. Concidering some work 12 days on and 3 days off and others 24 days on and 6 days off....they are always happy to see you. Great staff! We went to Don Lucas Cigars for a couple of hours. Please don't buy cigars from the beach vendors! They are terrible. Go to Don Lucas. They pick you up and drop you off for free. We've been there 5 times now and will keep going back every time we're in Punta Cana. There's a rum bar, chocolate factory, coffee tasting etc. We love it. Nice to get off the property too for a bit. The entertainment was a surprise. It was actually pretty good. We've seen some really bad shows but here was good. The weather was great but can't say that for this week as hurricane Matthew blows by. We were lucky to have left just before the rains came. Anyways, we all loved this resort and we wouldn't hesitate to return here. We loved the size, the people, the food was excellent and all in all we had an AWSOME week!

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Amazing Place!

Luxury Bahia Principe Ambar is so big and beautiful resort.Great people, great food and great service ...I have a great vacation here, so relaxing. Ambar resort is surrounding by other Bahia Principe resort, so that you can enjoy different buffer restaurants...

Riu Republica: Excellent resort

The resort was great. I was expecting a few glitches since it's fairly new but can't say I can complain on anything that wasn't dealt with immediately. Our first room was a king bed and I was there on a girl's trip and required two beds. No problems ... fixed and upgraded to Ocean View. All the staff - cleaning, reception, restaurant, bar, beach waiters, animators were so friendly and quick to serve and help you. Tip or no tip the service was phenomenal. The beach is beautiful, quiet  [... read more]and although there's no beach bar close by, there is a waiter that comes by and takes your order (if you're in a hurry you may need to get your own or have a large bubba). :) Rooms, cleaned daily, fridge always filled with beer, pop and lots of water. Food - no complaints. I actually gained a few pounds and that might be a combo of the food and the beverages. lol Activities - it was windy so we didn't take advantage of any of the water sports, but the nightly entertainement was good. Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Excellent Review for returning couple

The grounds are beautiful, clean and the staff is very accommodating and helpful. This is the second time visiting this resort and once again we were just as happy as we were the first time. We would definitely like to re-visit.

Blau Natura Park Resort: Keeps getting better!!!!!!

This is the 3rd time I have been to Blau Natura and it keeps getting better, not that it was bad before. The food has improved and the service and animation team are the best compared to any resort I have visited, and there are alot. Our room in building 8 was the best and I always request this building as it is close to the pool and beach. Juan Louise, who works in guest services went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable and help us with a room switch. The resort did not get our reque [... read more]sts for building 8 but juggled a few things and made it happen. Raquel is the best bartender and server and the nicest person ever. Carmelo at the a la cartes always has a smile and Ledy and Eddy Murphy with the animation team got everyone involved in all the games. This resort is a hidden gem with all the wildlife (flamingos, peacocks, ducks and birds) that live on the resort and wander around at large. I would definitely return and I highly recommend it.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: No Disappointments

Return visit and food and service was very good. Lots of great happy and friendly staff to help with any issues. This visit there were several staff asking and checking that everything was good and as expected. Grounds are keep very well and clean. Booked dinners at all of the restaurants with no hassles. Lots of different choices for food. Entertainment can be found at the various lobby's, stage, and Bahia Town. Always a pleasure to stay there.

Grand Sirenis Punta Cana Resort: Not what we were expecting

The grounds and beach and most of the ala cart restaurants were amazing. The rooms left something to be desired. For starters the toilet ran continuously and took all week for someone to fix it. The fridge froze my insulin no diet pop available except at the bar. The food on the Buffet was cold and was a known thing to them because there was a microwave to heat your food. The cold food was warm. I requested a room close to amenities due to mobility issues and got the furthest away room p [... read more]ossible. The shower was coming off the wall were told about it and nothing was done about it. The buildings of 3 stories had elevators that we got stuck in on our way to our room. We were left to find our room in the dark on our own while our luggage was sent with the bell hop. Was very frustrating to find out when you finally get there that they have put you the furthest away possible from the front were the buffet and main desk was. I booked this trip in April and travelled in September, I feel the hotel let us down with our requests and didn't try to accomadate us at all. I would not travel to Punta Cana again in the off season again as fellow visitors form other countries have no educate or manners for the simple fundamentals of a buffet and don't know what personal space or the end of the line is. This was our 25 th Anniversary trip. We were told that we were gong to get a bottle of champagne and it went to the wrong room luckily it went to my sisters room and we ended up with it, there were no glasses just the bottles, not the same out of coffee cups. My brother in law broke out in hives the size of grapefruits from the fleas that he had in his bed, and all they did was change the bed,,, he is highly asthmatic and this setback put a damper on the trip. As he spent the last 4 days in bed on allergy medication and couldn't do what the rest of us could. All in all the weather was amazing, the customer service was beyond terrible and I would not go back to this resort. if I could get a refund I would this was suppose to be a special 25 anniversary trip and it was a disaster. from the minute we got there

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Top Notch

This is my fourth time back to Gran Ambar. Fantastic value for the money spent. Staff is super friendly and rooms are modern and very clean. I have been to Dominican Republic over twenty times and in my opinion this resort rates as the top one for me. Special props to my Amigos at the lobby bar . William and Carlos (Rigoberto was away on vacation) who do a great job of taking care of you. Grand Sirenis Punta Cana Resort: not great.

We stayed at this resort sept23-30th this hotel has a great beach. Very beautiful It's Clean and has lots of chairs... but to find one good luck! too many people reserving chairs running back and forth being that the pool &beach are side by side. This hotel is overrun with Russians!!! We are not racist by any means!! but this can not go in said! They're ignorant,rude eating off the buffet,budding in lines! no manners whatsoever. We stayed inL117 This hotel rooms are run down. Things not on the walls broken parts mould (mould in that clement is expected tho) when repairs were needed it took many many hours if not days for repairs. Our room was infested with sand fleas and bed bugs .we also had ants. So every single night you could gaurentee would be sleepless:( we called the desk 3 times to have a change of room and was told no! So they would come and change the sheets (short time fix) we noticed a lot of people walking around covered in calamine lotion, so they're more than aware of this issue. we came for r&r this definitely contributed to us being in happy. Lobbybar- no money in hand no service they would serve everyone else around you. ALL BOOZE WATERED DOWN!!!!!! If you're coming to get your drink on lol this isn't the resort to go to. We paid for this service and even a shot that should have been strong-Definitely not the case. (In all bars and we even went over to the premium side same crap!) Buffet- So hot! Not enjoyable no air or fans sweating while eating not our cup of tea. hot food-undercooked or over cooked no happy medium (raw chicken) cold- was warm and in the same area as the hot. (They did supply a microwave on the buffet. ) We were flipping afraid of getting. Salmonella poisoning!!!! not fun on vacation!!! Breakfast buffet always safe the fresh eggs they made omelets and eggs whatever kinds while you wait ,but there's only one person doing this..so it took forever to get through...most of the people you're with,finished eating by the time you returned.Dinner this was also the case for fresh pasta. the French toast pancakes were rockhard. Break your tooth off if you were to attempt to bite it. and again cold. Pool snack bar- was good. We ate here a lot. Specialty restaurants- Steakhouse- it's probably one of the best they have. Large quantities make sure you make your reservations early because they run out of food. Mexicana- is disgusting don't waste your time. It was awful. 40 Diner- was good mostly finger foods Italian- very good again but make your reservations early because they run out of food and then you're limited to what you can get. Josè - absolutely amazing! Friendly spoke good English:) We went for the beach,the food& booze and the room and was 2 out of three was a total let down! My advice! Don't go here!!! Pay the extra $ and get better service and food we wish we did!

Riu Republica: Generally very good

Staff service was incredible! Very fast and efficient. Bars were fast with service. Although advertised as an "adults only" the swim up portion of the pool area got extremely loud and crowded with people standing and sliding on the tables along with other dangerous activities. No staff stepped in. Room were very clean and nice. Main Buffet was great. Italian Restaurant was a disappointment. It was just a small version of a buffet with the same menu every night. No traditional pasta availabl [... read more]e. Asian restaurant, although another buffet, was good. Steak House was not really a traditional stake house but service was good. This was the only eating area where you got served. All others were buffet set ups. Lack of elevators was hard to believe. The one in the middle area was always appallingly dirty. Relax pool was nice but actually too warm, probably because it was shallow. Generally the two weeks spent there were nice. Nice grounds. Upgraded to ocean view room because the "garden view" (room 4404 area) was very noisy on the balcony and not a great view. Towel facility was fantastic and in good supply. Once again, the staff was the best we have seen.

Secrets Royal Beach: Great resort!

Nice spacious pool. Lots of good beach front! Well kept grounds. Very friendly and helpful staff. Rooms were very well kept and there was a lot of great restaurants. Would highly recommend this to anyone looking to travel to Punta Cana.

Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: Loved the staff!

The Esmeralda is a beautiful and well kept resort. We did have to wait until the 3pm checking to get our room. Not a problem. However the room wasn't really ready. The staff kept having to knock on the door to drop off towels or things for the bar fridge. Our room was to be decorated and have a welcome gift as it was a special occasion and the staff did that as we sat in our room and watched them. Aside from that, both the Italian and Brazilian restaurants were amazing! Excellent food and serv [... read more]ice from one of our favorite staff, Christian. We ventured out to both French restaurants and were surprised that not only were they very close to each other, but had exactly the same menu. Couldn't see the point of that and wouldn't have booked both reatuarants if we had known. Lots of shops at the other resorts for souvenirs. The pool and beach areas were beautiful and clean. We did use the complimentary Butler service and we were so pleased that we did. Anastasio Antonio was absolutely wonderful. Charming, funny, endearing and efficient. I would recommend this hotel.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Imagined it to be much better

Me and my husband had been to the Mexican Resort of Bahia Principe and loved it, our expectations were so high that we were expecting the same or similar experience. The food was not great. Service was excellent if you paid for it (tip). I dont like that. Im not stingy. If I receive good service right off the bat I will tip you. If you expect or get pissed bc I dont. No tip. Paradisus Punta Cana: Amazing resort

The best service ever The best food ever You just feel a second home Just to let you know I'll be going back again and again and I'll bring some friends too! Majestic Colonial Punta Cana Beach Resort: Great resort!

Best resort we have ever been too. Very clean, amazing beach, friendly and fun staff! The food was great, a lot of variety. The entertainment was a blast from morning to night. We will definetly return!

Royalton Splash Punta Cana: Absolutely beautiful!

Myself and my Wife visited Memories Splash Aug 30- Sept 6th, 2016. We had enjoyed every minute of our Vacation there! The Hotel is beautiful, staff was absolutely amazing, facilities were very clean. We enjoyed the food very much and especially the spectacular A la Carte restaurants- very, very impressive! The Splash Park was absolutely stunning, so much fun for kids/ adults. Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: Beautiful resort

The grounds, rooms and everywhere else was clean and staff was friendly, but I (we) had a problem with seating around the pool and ocean. People were just leaving their stuff on the chairs by the pool early in the morning and going to the beach and then coming back to the pool after lunch or later, so going to the pool or beach we could never get any place to sit, we even had an occasion where there was altercation with some other guests who had one floater on one chair under an umbrella so we d [... read more]ecided to take the available chairs and went in the pool and when they came back they took all our stuff and threw them away in the shrubs, so it took us about ten minutes to look for our stuff, also I got sick from the Tuesday so for the last four days I had to live on medication and my daughter got sick on the last day, I think for such a big resort people should not get sick, the food was good but everything had so much salt, will never come back to the Esmeralda.

Ocean Blue and Sand: More Fun Every Visit

Our 12th visit to Ocean Blue and Sand was just as awesome as ever. We never get tired of going back to this resort as the Entertainment staff keeps things fresh and fun from morning until night. Juan Ramon, Willie Wonka, Elias, Samuel and new guy Shane work very hard every day to make sure everyone is having a good time with crazy games, water aerobics, bingo, painting, Spanish lessons, beach parties, foam parties, dancing, shows, etc. If you just want to chill on your lounge chair, they will [... read more] sit down and have a few laughs with you. We visited all the restaurants with the exception of Route 66. We received excellent service from our servers Hanzer in the buffet, and Eduardo Shepherd in various restaurants. Delicious food is presented beautifully in a fine dining atmosphere. We are partial to the lasagne in the Italian restaurant, but we love all the restaurants. Thanks to Juan Eric and Luis we were invited to a couple of special dinners as well which were wonderful. We were sorry we missed Sexy Black at the lobby bar because he was on vacation, but we will catch him next time. Johan at the pool bar took care of us well and Argentina and all the other staff are amazing at Mike's Coffee. The grounds are very well maintained and beautiful. Both huge pools are kept clean every morning beginning at dawn by several very hard workers. Our room was very comfortable and well maintained by efficient staff and we didn't need to ask for anything. We booked our trip through the very efficient and friendly Tracy at Trip Central Dundas using Air Transat and everything went very smoothly as usual.
