Brisas Sierra Mar: Amazing nature ,that’s we like to come back
The place didn’t improve much since our last visit. We had some repairs done ( fallen head board, broken light switches) turning the light on head board fell down bruising my right hand. It took couple days to have it fixed. The last night we had rain water leaking on the hallway floor. BUT, nothing can beat the weather ! Very nice nightly entertainment. Very loud music by the pool .
Grand Memories Varadero: No more Cuba
Hotel outside well groomed and maintained Rooms OLD and with many flaws, old furniture and all in all obsolete Food very repetitive with many items no where to be seen (sometimes bread is rare or in very poor state, no other fruits then dozens of type of melon, no lettuce at all) they ran out of many items (Orange juice, butter, diet colas, catsup) the a la carte restaurant, although suffering from the same flaws were tasty and well presented) Beach are nice but 3 of the seven days were cold [... read more]
Melia Cayo Coco: Love this resort
From the moment we arrived this resort was top, great food, clean rooms, beautiful grounds, hope to return real soon We have been to many resorts in Cuba and this was by far the best. The beach was very windy all week, but would be great on calm days. Staff are very friendly and although an older building the rooms are kept very clean.
Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: wonderful Cuba vacation
Was pleased to see local produce well prepared and presented. It was delicious! With the exception of maybe some prime cuts of beef and exotic selection of alcohol missing, the variety of food at Paradisus Princesa Del Mar was on par with Sandals Resorts we have stayed at. The service was consistently good. WIFI was sketchy and weather for several days windy and chilly but resort was comfortable, rooms good size, everything worked, good selection of restaurants and lots of scenic places to e [... read more]
Grand Memories Varadero: Family friendly resort
The grounds were beautiful and well maintained. The rooms could use a little make over, but little time was spent in them, so this was not our biggest concern. The resort had amazing entertainment and enough enough selection of restaurants, bars and pools to keep the whole family happy!
Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Could have been better.
Grounds were nice. Water in room was never hot and luke warm mostly. More then an hour late to check in. 5:15pm. Several of the front desk staff were not friendly, no smiles, curt, and one was particularly unpleasant and Not helpful at all. I cannot drink alcohol so I stick with water but like to have soda/sparkling water at meals. They had none for the second half of the week. Not enough staff in buffet, bars and coffee bars. The food was over all too salty and boring. They ran out of butte [... read more]
Playa Cayo Santa Maria: REALLY NICE RESORT
Really good service, the hotel was clean, the food good (some food back order but not a big deal its cuba). The wine and the restaurant a la carte was really excelent. The beach is one of the best of cuba with crystal clear water.
Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: beautiful resort.
Hotel. and rom spacy,Clean and with fantastic service. This resort has four swimming pools with Aqua fitness everyday and all the time.We loved the games that we enjoyed during the day.People were very friendly with the smile all the time. Our battler was taking very nice care of us. Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Beautiful resort
Grounds and staff awesome Best thing was the constant entertainment - we were out and about the resort every night lots of people enjoying the various bars and great music . The resort spends on local entertainment - bands and musicians !!! So more lively then the usual . The food was poor - result of the political situation ??? Nice beach great pools not a boring place
Starfish Cayo Guillermo: Nice resort
The grounds were very nice and the rooms pretty good. Food was much better. Unfortunately the room staff wasn’t as good as the last time we were there. A couple times we didn’t get any towels and water. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The bar staff was very good except one would give to his friend before other customers and I heard him say this to a customer waiting. We booked the adults only section and people brought their kids to the pool and restaurant. I thought this was [... read more]
Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: Worth the price!
A great resort with lots of dining and snack options over all 3 resorts. Italian restaurant was fabulous! Private beach was easy to get to and very beautiful. Our butler took good care of us to make sure we were having the best stay possible. For under $800 it was a deal! The bus ride was a bit long but we got to see lots of countryside. Only downfall, the bug bites I kept getting-take lots of repellent.
Melia Internacional: Great Location
Very nice facilities and staff. Excellent stretch of beach. Close enough to the commercial area to walk easily and check out some touristy shopping and dining spots. Food at the buffet was reasonably good quality but preparation is lacking I.e. often overcooked or undercooked (potato and fish particularly most of the time). Al la cart dining was not a good experience, both times too salty to eat and the meal didn’t match the menu description very well. Drinks were mostly very good but a couple [... read more]
Barcelo Solymar: Good value for price
Public areas of the hotel were very clean. Staff were always cleaning floors and sweeping outside areas. Maids did a good job of making up the room daily. Maintenance responded quickly when we reported an issue with our balcony door.
Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: Just Okay
It is a nice looking resort, and they treat you quite well in the Sanctuary section. We were upgraded to a ground floor suite at no cost which was a nice surprise. The Sanctuary section is a nice oasis in the much larger Grand Memories resort, and we enjoyed having our own amenities (especially the pool and lounge bar). While service overall was good, the food itself was very hit and miss - one a la carte (Oriental) had really good food, others were okay or not very good. The beach was nice bu [... read more]
Barcelo Solymar: Great Resort
We enjoyed everything about our vacation. We stayed in a bungalow superior. The room was clean and comfortable. Housekeeping staff were efficient and pleasant. Pool towels were provided in room which we had no problem exchanging when required. We could always find something enjoyable at the buffet. Our only complaint would be that other than food served off the grill it was not very hot. The staff in the restaurants and throughout the resort were friendly and courteous to everyone. We attended [... read more]
Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Pretty good
We were a group of 6 friends and I would say we all had a pretty good experience. Myself and my partner were satisfied with the service, however, one of our friends didn't get as lucky. They did not get water bottles every day and did not have hot water in the shower. Water is very valuable at the resort... If you ask for another water bottle, 90% of the time they would say no... Which was a problem for another friend because they drink a lot of water normally. Everything was either hit or miss. [... read more]
Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Gréât resort
Grounds were well kept and clean, public bathroom weren’t always the cleanest, rooms were very satisfactory . Food was good, not much variety but never went hungry. Most staff were good but not overly friendly perhaps a language barrier
Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Terrible restaurant, even for Cuba
We have stayed here SIX times. The food was one reason we returned. Many things were missing on their menu. Salmon, shrimp, lobster, lamb, one other fish and a desert item, no longer serving Canadian beef but something that resembles a chew toy. This is their show case restaurant at the resort. They charge other people at the resort 50 extra pesos to eat there. The sea food specialty restaurant was also closed part way through the week. Entering the last part of January should be their peak [... read more]
Club Kawama: Club Kawama
Loved my visit here. Beautiful beach. Amazing array of food, prepared with a lot of care. Walking distance to many interesting places. Staff friendly, as long as you tip periodically. This is a three star resort and is what you can expect for this rating. The beach is easily a five star!
