Gran Muthu Imperial: Terrific resort for adults

Beautiful warm ocean. The beach is rocky near the bar, but gets sandier further west. It was well worth walking the extra meters. Staff were friendly and helpful. The International a la carte restaurant was disappointing. We much preferred the quality and variety of foods at the buffet, which was always amply supplied. Overall, we had a great time from start to finish.

Melia Las Americas: Resort is good but not good entertainment

Buffet is good but dont have much variations. Agent cannot be reached. Room is great cleaned and new. Not enough pool. The other pool at the Level are under renovations but the agent from Hola sun didnt inform us. Unexpected situation.

Grand Memories Santa Maria: Absolutely Relaxing

Spent a week here with my cousin and my biggest critique was that the place is slightly outdated and could use just a bit of renovating. They also need to keep their alcohol fully stocked. That's the worst I can say about this place. Other than that, we had a very relaxing week, that staff are phenomenal, some of the best food I've had in Cuba (In the past I've found the food to be flavourless and bland). Memories Trinidad Del Mar: Great staff, but needs some work

Stayed at this hotel the week of Jan.11-18, 2020. Our room was clean and neat, the bathroom and tub was a little dated. The staff was fabulous, friendly accommodating and hard working. The food at the buffet was better than expected but the al la carte restaurants were not good. Ate at the buffet for 6 of 7 days. The pool area needs some updating, not many loungers and the hot tub was not in use(empty). The beach is beautiful. Had trouble with our door keys. Every other day the door key would n [... read more]ot work so had to go to front desk to get new. Very inconvenient especially late at night, and we were on the second floor. It is close to Trinidad where you can have a nice meal and do many activities It is a basic no frills resort at a very reasonable price with beautiful weather, wonderful people and the drinks are always cold!

Roc Barlovento: Great little Gem

We have been repeaters to this resort for approximately 8 years and generally go twice a year. We love the location. The beach is great and is walking distance to the market and downtown. Rooms are moderate and clean.

Muthu Colonial Hotel: Beautiful Spanish resort

We had an amazing week at the Colonial. Our room was very clean and had a perfect ocean view. The staff at this place are the best. The beach is long and beautiful. This isn’t a new fancy resort but they are busy painting and upgrading all the time . We loved that it felt like a little Spanish town! Our only complaint is we had an issue with hot water in our room but we didn’t ask to change rooms due to our beautiful view.

Melia Marina Varadero: Melia Marina Varadero

The room is very large, clean, beautiful and great view. The beach is good and most of chairs are broken, few of them is very bad should throw away. Many sea weeds on the beach on windy days but no one clean up (probably clean up next day). The food is OK but some very bad such as finger claim was smelly and uneatable. Kidney beans and hot dogs were sour probably from left over from previous day. It is OK to serve the left over foods if they are still good to eat (the chef should taste them firs [... read more]t). The services are good in most areas but the receptionists are not very helpful. WIFI only available in the main lobby and very slow and hard to login. It is not a good place for people want to have a working vacation (using your PC). The swimming pool is not well organize, many chairs are taken for entire day but see no one using then for 4-5 hours, therefore not enough chairs for others. Coffee in buffet restaurant is not very good compare to others in Cuba with same stars.

Carisol los Corales: Still a favorite

This was my third stay at carousel Corrales resort I was there two years ago in a Junior suite and requested the same great room everything works although water pressure could be a bit low at times! Royalton Cayo Santa Maria: Beautiful, wonderful resort!

this small resort is just perfect. Rooms are large, grounds are beautifully landscaped, lots of helpful and friendly staff always available. Quiet and relaxing yet still entertaining. Beach is fantastic

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Very old hotel,not good for ppl with walking problems

Very old hotel,everything us fooling in a parts,ppl cleaning ,but doesn’t look clean,bc of the very vey old environment..we will never go back there,,even fir free....sorry..Staff is amazing,but somehow the Big Management is sleeping about all this (( Rooms are smelling,A/C are old and you are all the time wet,clothes are wet,Don’t like my vacation ,pls go to outher hotels!!

Iberostar Origin Bella Vista Varadero: Nice resort

The hotel was nice, food was decent for a Cuban resort... there were always a few basic things missing like lemon for the fish or ketchup for fries but not a big deal. The staff made our trip, everyone was always happy and wanting to do their best to help. Thank you Tammy for booking our last minute trip

Memories Paraiso: Memories Paraiso

We had a good time at the Memories Paraiso hotel. The beach was the nicestI have seen in Cuba. The color of the water just unbelievable. Beautiful, have to watch out for the sandflies. I had the sandflies worst in other places. The hotel room was good, large rooms and bathrooms. It was cleaned everyday. The food was ok. Some days the breakfast a bit busy, lunch and supper was much better. I liked the new restaurant they opened up at lunch time only. People are very friendly even the Gar [... read more]deners’. Melia Costa Rey: Family vacation

The Pullman Cayo Coco was superb. The staff was extremely pleasant....very accommodating. The pools were a bit on the cool side, but possibly because it was so windy. All in all I would highly recommend this resort!!!

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Worst resort in Varadero

We have been to Varadero almost 10 times, and stayed at several different resorts, and this one was horrible. The service was the worst; we paid over $400 on the 3rd day to switch. Best decision we made.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: Relaxing!

The hotel was a bit dated, could use some updating & freshening up. However the bed was very comfortable & housekeeping was very good. The grounds were kept clean & the pool (2 levels) was also very clean. Staff always pleasant & helpful. Beautiful beach! The food was as expected for Cuba but you never went hungry. We got what we paid for & had a relaxing time. Quiet environment. Only complaint is sand fleas - bring bug spray!

Brisas Sierra Mar: Worst Trip Ever

First the airline. Sunwing plays with Canadian luggage. Our flight they lost nine bags the longest mine six days with no bathing suit only one pair of shorts one t shirt and no sandals. Oh compensation they give you a Visa card with money on it but only at store in hotel and in town but since your name was not on it could not use. I am 6 ft 7 in 285 lbs,they had nothing I could buy and card expired in 8 days,and elite ,you paid extra for this and luggage was to be first off. I had so much stress [... read more] from all of this I had a heart attack. Next the resort needs lots of work to be done but they do not do it. When Cubans came on weekend they stole cutlery,salt and pepper shakers plates glasses it was endless. They would even pick up food out of buffet then put it back. The weekends suck there was slime on top of water in pool. So bad would not go in pool. Will NEVER fly sunwing again,very disappointed. Good deal not to good hotel.

Sol Cayo Coco: 4th visit but likely our last!

We have visited this resort in 2012, 2015 & 2016 but think our January 2020 trip will be our last. We met many guests who were repeat customers. We went back because : the hotel is not huge (about 500 maximum occupancy), the staff are truly fantastic, it offers 2 beaches, there was a great beach restaurant and it was great value. This trip we still found the staff to be super friendly and helpful - some have been there for over 20 years and many remembered us from 2016. The beaches are great ,  [... read more]one windy but one sheltered. However in 2017 hurricane Irma sadly destroyed the beach restaurant (plus about 400 palm trees). While the hotel has done a great job to restore the $50 million of damage but has not replaced the beach restaurant leaving it with only one a la carte. They have put in a lunchtime beach "tiki-hut" grill but all it served were hamburgers and fries and seemed to open randomly. The buffet as in most resorts offered a variety including two cooking stations (eggs/pancakes etc for breakfast and meat/fish/pasta/pizza at lunch and dinner). While there was always something we could find to eat it was pretty much the same every day with little creativity. With only one a-la-carte (which was very good) the buffet needs to be a lot better for 7 lunches and 6 dinners in a row! The bars offer a good variety of drinks and the service was always excellent. Tips are appreciated and gratefully accepted but not looked for. The entertainment staff work had to create fun and the evening shows featured great dancers. Communication about activities and shows was very poor. Just a notice board and single page sheet which seemed the same as 2016! On a few nights the schedule changed without notice so we ended up eating dinner and missing the singer. The rooms are badly in need of upgrades. They (and the hotel overall) are very clean but our shower stall leaked water over the bathroom. lights didn't work and drawers were falling apart. Despite the shortfalls we still enjoyed our week especially at the price. The hotel was surveying guests so hopefully they will make some changes. I doubt we will return but as long as you go for the beach, the drinks, the fun and ok food it is worth considering.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Great Resort

Resort was wonderful, small resort easy to get around. Rooms were good, food was excellent for Cuba. Only thing was the wind, great for Kite surfers, but not beach lovers. Maybe the beach is not so windy in peak season.

Los Delfines: Location best about hotel

This hotel is absolutely the best down town Varadaro location, however, you have to be willing to eat out at the locale restaurants as what we have done our last three stays here. Unfortunately this last stay here in Jan. 2020 the food was ever less appealing that our two previous stays. (Two mornings no bread or eggs) So even a light breakfast was not possible. We didn't even try lunch or dinner in the buffet restaurant. On two occasions the pool bar was out of beer??? Lots of staff, how [... read more]ever, most are not trained very well or supervised as they can be loud and disruptive in public areas. Lots of small maintenance jobs to be done such as no water in the kids pool, cracked or missing tiles galore. Most of the common area bathrooms were working this time. The beach is great, but lots of smokers who seem to think it is alright to drop their butts in the sand. I saw one staff picking up butts one day only and he only did a small area. We will be looking at different properties next year.

Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: Very Nice resort

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to this resort. It was my first time visiting and recommended. The people here are great! The smiles, hellos from anyone that was working, it didn't matter in what capacity. The rooms, grounds, were very good. One of my top picks for hotels in Cuba. The food... its fine. You won't starve by any stretch. Its just lacks variety and seasoning which we are used to. Drinks are plentiful. The beach is very nice. Overall, we enjoyed the resort and would highly recommend and return too.
