Grand Decameron Cornwall Beach: 4 Nights Only

My husband and I stayed for our anniversary June 7-11 and enjoyed our stay. We booked this hotel because of how close it was to the airport and the very reasonable price point. We had read all reviews before arriving, which helped with our expectations. So, to be proactive, we took our own beach towels and sundries but didn't need them. Food was good (be sure to arrive to the dining room on time) but choices were limited. Coffee bar was great! Rooms were very clean and maintained d [... read more]aily but they do not offer a daily towel change, so be aware and plan accordingly. All staff was great and helpful BUT this is not a resort. It is more a hotel which offers some resort like activities. We enjoyed our four day getaway but I don't know that we would return. Simply because we didn't feel safe walking the hip strip and you are limited to the walking you can do on the property.

Ocean Eden Bay: Great Resort but Customer Service from staff is MEDIOCRE

Really enjoyed the food, the beach and the resort but staff/reception is very bad with customer service. Issues/complaints don’t get addressed. Supervisor on duty is NEVER available and staff can’t answer basic questions. They pick and choose who to be nice to and get annoyed when they get asked to do stuff. Most of the time they are either on their phones, eating or drinking on the job. We had H10 premium but they still didn’t care. Our assigned butler was useless. He couldn’t even bring water and coffee to our room. That’s the type of service we received.

Grand Muthu Runaway Bay Club Caribbean: Royal Decameron Club Caribbean...amazing resort

Nice property , friendly staff and good food. Nice place too relax and enjoy the beach, sun and food.. The service and the restaurants and bar is great. 10 out of 10 I would go back to this property for sure. I would rate this property 8 out of 10..

Catalonia Montego Bay: Nice resort

Beautiful beach!!!!! Food was an 8/10 I really enjoyed the Jamaican al la carte restaurant. Jerk bar was lit!!! Service was ok, long wait time in line for check in. By time I got my room I was exhausted from standing in the heat for so long. Hot water in my room didn’t work all the time, had to shower in lukewarm water. In my opinion, entertainment wasn’t the best. But this was a more relaxation trip than for entertainment.

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: 10 years ago it was amazing

Staff and employees are absolutely amazing. The resort is falling apart though. Ceiling leaking with water, due to condensation. Built poorly. Showers are small , jets don’t work in the tubs . Sometimes there is no hot water. The beds are extremely uncomfortable, they should probably flip the mattress. Some rooms hardly any air conditioning. I guess you get what you pay for unfortunately

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Went during the wet season

First off, we went during what they called their “wet season”, even though when I looked it up it didn’t say much about that. So when we arrived it was raining and gloomy for the first few days. Regardless of that, the resort was beautiful, very clean and always being maintained. They had the Orkin man come it seemed like every few days and spray. The pool was clean and beautiful, they cleaned it every morning and it was very large so you weren’t always right next to someone. The food wa [... read more]s delicious and fresh, there was always a large variety to choose from at the buffet. I often found i enjoyed tne food more at the buffet than the a la cartes. The wait staff at the buffet were generally very nice and helpful. There were a few occasions where we had to track down someone else who wasn’t in our section so that we could get more water. In particular, a waiter named Marvin was not very kind, if you didn’t tip him first day he ignored you, even if you sat in his section. We learned quickly that if we saw him, to sit somewhere else. The rooms were clean and linens smelt fresh. The air conditioner worked amazing the whole trip, which was a relief because the humidity was brutal. Plenty of areas in the resort were not kept cool, including the lobby where you wait for your shuttle. I brought a rechargeable fan with me and it was a lifesaver. Especially during some a la carte where the air was weak at best. A tip regarding the shops, try the ones on the luxury side, we stayed on the grand side and there were two shops that were ridiculously over priced and did not negotiate price well. For example I bought two bags that would have been $70 and the guy wouldn’t budge any lower than $67. Well a few days later we found the luxury side shops, those same two bags starting price were $60 for both and she would have would them to me for $50. Regarding the beaches, there were three that I knew of on the resort, the nude beach, the little cove and the larger beach. We went to the cove and the larger one, they smelt of dead fish, the water cleared up after the rain stopped but I just couldn’t stand the smell so I stayed with the pool. Also, you don’t need to exchange to local currency, the staff and shops deal with American dollars and shops will take card but will give you a deal if you use cash. The sun is extremely harsh with uv index up to 14 by 11am so don’t forget your sunscreen. Apply it often, I still burnt while applying spf 50 every hour, I moved up to every 45 min during the hours of 11-3 and was better. Don’t forget a lip balm with spf as well. The drinks are made very well too, there’s definitely no skimping on ingredients. Overall, I probably would not return to this resort because when I go to a beach resort, I expect a beautiful beach and was quite disappointed. If you don’t care about the beach then you will be satisfied with this resort. I did hope for better entertainment but there were no special nightly shows, basically just a person playing music or singing. If that’s all you want, this resort is for you.

Honest review for the Luxury side! We saw the good and bad reviews before coming so we were prepared but we also were just happy to get away without our children. First off....the app! We actually found it very user friendly and were able to book all our a la cartes with no problem at all. We checked in ahead of time and when we arrived they just had to give us our bracelets and take us to our room. They even set up our WIFI which works amazing anywhere in the hotel or on the beach. The  [... read more]room! We were in building 26 2nd level on the road side however we did get partial ocean view. We didn't ask for a room ahead of time so it was a pleasant surprise. It was quiet inside the room luckily because the road noise gets really loud especially the trucks. We met someone who were in 25 and the noise could be heard inside which can be an annoyance if you're a light sleeper. Our bed was more firm which I didn't mind but my husband didn't like it. The bathroom was clean and well stocked with shampoo, conditioner and body wash as well as body lotion (I didn't bring my own). The housekeeper was great, always went over and above tidying our room. The bar fridge guy was amazing and gave us whatever we wanted. We always tipped a few bucks each day for both. The food! We were impressed and disappointed at the same time. First a la carte was Picasso, our server Shawnie was amazing and so polite. The food was better than I was expecting as a whole, we got the chefs special which was tenderloin with shrimp, garlic mashed potatoes and veg. We ordered medium rare and it came out still mooing 🐄 The manager Mr. Fisher was quick to notice and replaced our meals at which point it was over cooked but the flavor was good. The next one was Riddiccio which was disappointing, everything just tasted the same and desperately needed salt. The Knife was next and it was great. Now I got the salmon because I had so much beef the 2 previous dinners and my husband got the brisket. I loved my meal, the salmon was flavourful and my husband like his but he said the bark was too burnt to enjoy and we like the crispy bits. The next was Dolce Vita and it was the worst for us. Our apps were great, i got the nisoise salad and my husband got the carpaccio. The pizza was awful it had so much cheese and dough it was off putting we actually felt awful and left. I had the lazagna and it was underwhelming and cold in the middle. We were excited for this one too. The Japanese tepenyaki was really fun and the food was great, definitely our top 3 next to the Jamaican night at the buffet and #1 being the Jerk Hut it is worth the 20min walk from the luxury side.. The buffet is great, a lot of options for everyone. The desserts as a whole basically sucked aside from the fried ice cream. As a whole we ate great The beach! It was small and the water was very shallow however we brought floaties and could float in the shallow water. The is a couple of pelicans that dive bomb fish and they have no care if you are close. Scared me right off my floatie lol the grand side is much bigger but we wanted the quiet of Adults Only. If you don't indulge in Jamaicas greenery you may get annoyed with being asked especially for men. I never got asked but my husband did about 20 times. If you are coming alone as a woman, maybe bring a fake wedding band, we met a wonderful lady traveling alone and she was getting approached a lot which irritated her a lot so she came down to the beach to avoid it. The pools! They were clean and well maintained (we enjoy the beach more). There was some model convention so the resort was swarming with ity bity bikinis and the party pool was loud but if you went to one area closer to the beach you can get your quite. There seemed to be a lot of opinions but they didn't bother us. There is a place for everyone in my opinion. The bars! We LOVED the beach bars. We found they always tried to make the best drink for you. I was able to fill my insulated water bottle with Pina coladas and the slushiness never melted. Best thing we brought next to floaties. The lobby bar wasn't our favorite, far too strong. The luxury lobby! We avoided it after the first day when we got bombarded with the "welcome breakfast" invite. We said no so many times and they just don't let up. They were even calling the room which kinda annoyed us. The staff were okay. We stayed at the Royalton White Sands and the staff was so warm and welcoming. We didn't get that same feel, there were only a couple of people who stood out and that was Natalie and Kalvin from the Japanese place. Our housekeeper warmed up a little near the end and the life guards on the luxury side were friendly but as a whole it wasn't what we were used to. I'm sure this varies depending on your personal experience. As a whole it was good, we came to relax in a beautiful country and we did just that. If you are not a fan of humidity then go before June because it really affected us. Overall it's a 4 out of 5 for us. Like I said we still had an amazing time together since that's what was really important to us and we met some other amazing people well stay in touch with. It's all about your attitude.

Grand Decameron Cornwall Beach: Worth the money

Smaller hotel with comfortable bed and clean room which look out to the beautiful sea and sunsets. The sea water was clear, calm and warm and we were able to see lots of fishes when snorkelling without having to swim out far. Some beach areas were deeper and others were more shallow which is good for children or non swimmers. The air conditioner, safe, hair dryer, fridge all worked well. Some servers were very friendly and others were not but they were all working hard trying to keep up. Looks like they could use more staff in the buffets. Did not have to wait long at the bars to be served and many good drinks like mango daiquiri. Nice to be able to use the facilities on both the Cornwall and Montego side. Went shopping on the street and was able to get t-shirts and souvenirs cheaper than the stores in the hotel. Appropriate for all age groups. Some evenings we needed to use mosquito repellent as there were some rainy days.

food quality was ok but selection was not very good 😕 the rooms were clean and nice and the maid staff was amazing! pretty hotel but need to spray the smoke stuff to control the mosquitoes, there was alot of mosquitoes and very uncomfortable 😐 dining staff was ok but never came back to check on us for more drinks during meals especially in the morning 🌄 the bar staff was awesome and the entertainment staff were very good 👍 over all it was an ok trip ... would I stay there again 🤠[... read more]” NOPE!!

Well kept Grounds, Services are Good!Banquet Food Looks Delious,Taste as if Heated in the Fridge. Food are a Very Essential Part of a Resort's Guests satisfaction.. The Suite My Wife & I were in Were Satisfactory.Except the Bath Poor Draining System .

It was very clean but had a awful sewer smell in evenings.The food was ok buy could be better.The staff were rude and very slow moving when asked for something.i asked for a blanket at 3pm and had to call front desk again at 9pm they finally brought it at 103o pm.personally I wouldn't book again only because I been to better.so that was a down grade for me..upon check out we had a 3 hr wait for transport and they cut off wifi right away no chance to contact family.it doesn't cost them anymore s [... read more]o why not keep it on until we leave property

Ocean Eden Bay: We loved it!

My husband and I stayed at Ocean Eden Bay May 14-21st for our Honeymoon. Immediately upon telling check-in we were Newlyweds, they sent us to the Privilege desk where we were upgraded to an Ocean Front Room, two butlers, access to the private beach and restaurants, a full breakfast in our room the following morning and a bottle of champagne. They always made sure we good. Roxanne, Hyana and Trey were the greatest bartenders and quickly knew what we liked (they were all good but those three were our favourites). Adrian, at the private beach, was there when we needed him and made sure we had what we needed. The Jamaican Grill was delicious and so were all the restaurants we went to (Steakhouse, Thali, Marlin, both Buffets and both Privilege Lounges). The buffets had a variety and the late night restaurants were great too (Marlin & Route 66). Housekeeping was perfect and our fridge was always stocked. The grounds were always kept clean, staff worked on it every day. The pool was beautiful and there was always something to do (if you wanted to). We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we were very happy. We would recommend this resort and we would come back again. We would actually like to bring the whole family and stay next door at Ocean Coral Springs.

Service was pretty good 7.5/10, resort was well maintained. Rooms definitely needed upgrading. Pools were great and clean! Entertainment was pretty good. Beach was smaller but did the job and was never overcrowded. Room service was quick and food was always good! Price wise, for Jamaica, I believe this resort is a great option! If I can find an even better deal for this resort I would return. Also, Trip central is awesome. Easy to find the best deals, service is always great! Thanks!

Riu Palace Tropical Bay: Perfect Vacation

Very modern resort with an amazing beach. Very well planned layout. All rooms close to everything. Food is very good with a huge selection ... very large buffet. 2 hour transfer from airport is worth it. Staff are as good as it gets. 10 & 13 year old grandsons had an amazing time too.

Great time at Riu Ocho Rios Will try to keep this short. Things that are great: *rooms are beautiful, clean, and very well appointed *grounds well maintained and cleaned daily *mini bar and fridge restocked every two days *plenty of towels, hot water, water pressure pressure *beautiful beach, well maintained, plenty of chairs *lovely pools, plenty of chairs there as well, lots of shade *no wait for beach towels, readily available and huts always open *drinks were great and service wo [... read more]nderful at all of the bars *food was great at the buffet, and the jerk hut where we had lunch three times - a la cartes were average, definitely not worth it Things that made the stay less comfortable *as usual other guests - bringing their own speaker to the pool bar so that their music competed with the music from the actual speaker making it unpleasant for others *people smoked in non smoking areas at night and security didn't care...and when everyone is smoking whacky tobacci it becomes unmanageable *the gym literally had one machine that worked - the others were unplugged or out of order and I know I'm a minority here but some of us do like to work out on vacation, especially when it rains - for a resort this size the gym is tiny, no AC, and then the machines don't work *the drive to the resort was close to three hours from the airport with a pitstop and a huge traffic jam on the one lane highway - bus is comfortable, just be prepared *no shampoo/conditioner in bathroom, so bring your own - there is only a body wash/shampoo in one

The resort was amazingly beautiful! The pictures don't do it justice. Beautiful grounds, that are well maintained. The white sandy beach and clear warm waters were amazing. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The food was superb!!

Sunset at the Palms: 35th Anniversary Trip in Paradise

We just returned from our stay at Sunset At The Palms and it really is a unique resort. Very small, laid back and quiet. Our treetop room was very comfortable and clean and quiet except for the tree frogs at night which actually put you to sleep. We had a lot of privacy on our balcony since all the treetop rooms were nestled around the resort. Not a ton of dinning options but it was enough for us. I would of liked to see more healthy choices and not so much spicy fair but we found somet [... read more]hing to eat. Service was top notch and the staff go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. Always smiling and greeting you when they see you. The beach is across the street but their is a crossing guard to help you cross safely and it’s about a 5 min walk. At the beach there is a bar and grill so you can spend your days enjoying the beach and everything is there for you. The bathrooms are beautiful apparently they were newly done not long ago. Overall we enjoyed are stay and defiantly will go back. If there is anything negative it would be l was looking forward to bed art and it was there on arrival and then my husband on our anniversary caught the maid and asked if she could do it special for me and she was glad to. It it wasn’t every time are room was made up. So nothing serious. But just a warning this is a small resort, no big night life and very laid back and quiet so if thats what your looking for l would recommend this resort.

Moon Palace Jamaica: Amazing resort!

Amazing place to stay. Very clean and lots of amenities. Lots of activities to sign up for, everyone is very friendly. Stacey-Ann in Beach and Pool is amazing! The boys on the catamaran also work really hard.

Ocean Eden Bay: Amazing resort

Just got back from vacation the resort itself is beautiful but here are the negatives. Beach is terrible if you love the ocean this is not the place you need water shoes 100 %. Food could be much better. The only restaurant I find it really good was Marlin and Bluemoon. Amazing service by Daniel . The buffet is hit or miss some days it's ok . If you like partying this is not the resort gorgeous young people. The nightly entertainment was ok but after 10.30 there is not much happening.  [... read more]Overall I expected more. The people are very friendly. Beware of the time share BS. They claim its not a time share but they try to Hassel you yo buy into there membership program.
